The disc you used would have been the install disc that came with your Mac. These can only be used on that as they are made for that specific model.

I am looking to hire a web & graphic designer at my office. I am planning buy a new imac or mac pro which can allow my designer to design as follows:-
- web design -> html
- brochures
- banners
- buntings and other graphics related tasks
I don't need a super computer but something that is good enough to run Adobe Photoshop CS6 extended (with minimal lags) and Adobe Illustrator.
Could I use iMac or do I really have to use mac pro for this one?
Is the specs below sufficient?

"...Rasterized type layers..." problem in CS6 extended

I was running CS6 64bit - perpetual licence version - happily. No problems. Then I joined the Adobe subscription service, deactivated and uninstalled CS6. Then I downloaded and installed the CC version of CS6 and updated it. Now when I open any document, or create a new one, I get the following error messager -
"Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended - Some of the the [sic] type layers in this document were rasterized because an error prevented them from being read".
I can just click "OK" on the message box and all then seems alright. But every time I open an image file - no matter what file format - I get the error message.
Grateful for any ideas. I'll be elevated to Photoshop CC next week but I'd like to get rid of the current CS6 problem before then.
Incidentally, I only managed to update CS6 Extended by uininstalling the old version and installing a fresh online version and then immediately updating using the Application Manager.

Just discovered that when I try to add text to an image I get the following error message -
"Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended -Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialised"
? Presumably the problems are linked.

Thank you Curt. I was unclear in my first message. I just installed the subscription version over my existing CS6 version. I only uninstalled the downloaded subscription version of CS6 because I was unable to update it (using either the Application Manager or from inside CS6). The update installed ok up to an error message -
"Adobe Photoshop 13.0.1.2 - Installation failed. Error code U44M1P7". Uninstalling CS6 and then reinstalling a downloaded version fresh allowed the update to take place.
As for the problem I was posting about - the text related error messages - I have found the answer I think. The problem is the contents of theTypeSupport folder at username/Appdata/Local/Adobe/ TypeSupport. When I deleted this folder all was fine again - no error messages and text tool working preoperly. When I rebooted the computer after deleting the folder it was recreated with one file missing - which I take to be the culprit. The file was - "AdoneFnt_CommonFonts.lst".
I'll see how things are after CC arrives next week.

No pins visible in Photoshop CS6 Extended Blur Gallery

In the Blur Gallery of CS6 the blur pins are not visible. I have tried the shortcut H to show the pins, but this did not affect any change. The pin with the adjustment ring and the other adjustment points are not visible. I seem to be able to add pins with the cursor (push pin with + is visible) and make adjustments on the sliders, but no pins. The M key will display the mask and the P key will toggle the preview on/off. The problem exists in all 3 blur filters (Field, Iris, Tilt-Shift). I'm operating on a PC running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, with 12 GB of RAM. The program is Photoshop CS6 Extended. I don't seem to have any other Photoshop issues to date. I've closed and opened the program, restarted the computer, and re-loaded the program from the disk. No change. Any help?

I am ready to downlaod Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC to a notebook computer that has the Creative Suite Design and Web Premium CS6 installed. Phtoshop CS6 Extended is already installed in this machine. I also have Lightroom 5.X installed in this notebook computer. Do I have to reinstall all of my plugins (onOne Perfect Suite 7.5, all of the NIK filters and all of the Topaz filters, plus others) in Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC?

That depends on how you have your Plug-ins currently installed and on the plug-ins themselves. With Photoshop Preferences you can add an additional Plug-in tree to Photoshop. If when you install Photoshop Plug-ins their installers let you specify where they should be installed and you point the the additional Plug-in tree. When you install the next version of Photoshop all you need do is add that same additional tree to the new Photoshop version Preferences. Plug-ins that do not let you specify where they should install themselves must be installed again.

Watermarks in Photoshop CS6 Extended

Hi all,
I was just wondering whether or not it was possible to ad watermarks to images using CS6 Extended?
I have tried searching the videos and tutorials and can't find anything... Only stuff on CS5 (re: watermarks anyway).

A method a lot of people use is to design your watermark on an empty layer, and go Edit > Define Brush Preset. So long as you make it with a decent pixel size, you can stamp it down without loss of quality, and include it in an Action. I am sure there will be scripts available to batch process a folder full of images. I hate watermarks myself, as they ruin your pictures, unless used very subtly.
One of the best users of watermarks I know of is Klaus Herrmann aka Farbspiel. Klaus is possibly the best user of HDR on the planet. He always adds a watermark, but they are woven into the image in such a clever fashion that you often have to really look for it. Klaus’s flickr stream

Camera RAW for CS6: is this only available for CS6 Extended?

I have two versions of CS6: Standard CS6 which I purchased and use on my Mac at home, and CS6 Extended, which was a part of a package supplied to me at my office. On my home machine, where I do my private photography, I seem unable to add the RAW plug-in, but I have successfully added it to Extended. Please help!

How do I remove sound from videos in PS CS6 extended?

I have a series of movies which I intended to individually import into PhotoShop CS6 Extended, add end credits, and then export WITHOUT SOUND. For the life of me, I can't see any way to remove the audio from the movies! I'm sure this feature was easily available in the PS CS6 beta version. Any clues?

I have the same problem as Ham. I can't see the context menu for sound.
I saw that context menu in the video that Sudarshan mentioned, but it's not in my Photoshop CS6, where - like Ham experienced - i only see a context menu for Motion.
Just as Ham, i do see the sound context menu at the beginning of my work. I even got to clips in a project where one clip offers sound editing, the other doesn't.
Clips where sound can be edited appear as a blue bar. Clips where sound cannot be edit appear as a violet bar. Even if i add an MP3, it appears as a violet bar, so sound cannot be edited while motion editing is offered. I also tried to dampen the sound via the opacity control in the layer panel, but it didn't work.
I already created a complicated project out of 6 clips. I can't restart now to edit audio before anything else.
Is there any way to get audio editing (in the limited way that's part of Photoshop CS6 sometimes) in ALL clips within a project?

Does Photoshop CS6 Extended allows users to crop individual frames? As in just one segment of the video? If so, how is it done?

Hi there
The Crop tool in Photoshop functions by cropping the entire image area - however, you can use a Layer Mask to edit an indiviual video or animation frame, as shown below.
1. Start by importing your video or animation in Photoshop, making sure to convert frames to layers (File > Import > Video Frames To Layers...). Go to your layers panel and select the frame you'd like to crop. Turn on the visibility of the layer by clicking on the small check box to the left of the layer icon - it should turn into an eye as shown below. Then, click the "Add vector mask" icon highlighted below.
2. Next, select the Rectangular Marquee tool (or use an alternative selection method if you want a different shape) and draw a seelction around the part of your video/animation you want to keep.
3. Go to Select > Inverse to select the inverse of the area you just selected.
4. Grab the Paint Bucket Tool and fill the selected area with pure Black (#000000). This will effectively "crop" the layer you have selected. You can see below that the layer underneath my selected layer is now showing through where I filled the selection with black.
The great thing about using a mask is that you can edit it or delete it altogether if need be. Note though that the area you mask will show up as transparent pixels in your Timeline panel - you can see the layer I edited on the far right of my timeline in the screenshot above.
