CS6 extendscript toolkit and recent files

Hi,
I have problem with ESTK on Windows 7, after working with some files on network shares I have still these files in recent files and ESTK freezes when I try to start ESTK offline.
Changing list lenght in preferences isn't working, trying to fill list by opening many local files too. Now opening and saving local file take minutes.
How to clean this list?

CS6 Extendscript Toolkit won't start on my Windows 7 64bit machine...

When launching ExtendScript I just get a blank application window with a totally unresponsive ui. I don't get a blank document on startup, I can't use any hotkeys, buttons or menu items to create or open a document. Compeletely dead. I tried deleting the preferences for it but that did nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice already. Searching the forums did not return much except for the deleting the preferences tip. Anybody have a clue as to why this is happening? The rest of the suite works fine bt I need the extendscript to do my job here.

Okay, I just figured out why it wasn't working and it's really stupid on both mine and adobe's part. At least I think so anyway. I downloaded the scripting guides for photoshop and illustrator because my install did not come with them. The reason the toolkit didn't start properly was because I wanted to keep all the scripting guides and docs in one place and put them in the sdk doc folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Utilities - CS6\ExtendScript Toolkit CS6\SDK\English
As soon as I removed them the toolkit started up fine. Yeah, I know, I shouldn't be putting stuff like that in the program files folder but really? Not starting becasue I put a few pdf's in its install folder? I was totally reaching for straws when I decided to move those pdf's out of there and just had to do a face palm for a day wasted trying to figure this out. Anyway, maybe my mistake will help others in the future.

Im looking for a way to save or convert photoshop cs6 apple retina display formated files to be available to open on Windows PC's?

I doubt you need anything special. The files should open without conversion. You can double check with Adobe.

CS6 photoshop crashing and dissapearing files.

My photoshop has been crashing, and that is bad, but now it is actually erasing files, and saving files in formats that are not finished and thereby not able to open. Does anyone know a solution or have any experience with similiar issues?

Without system information and otehr details nobody can even guess.

CS3 and Recent Files Issue

Since installing CS3 about 2 weeks ago, have had the problem of using Save As to a network path that is not persistent. When starting CS3, it fails to open until network paths in recent files are restored.
It seems to lookup all recent file locations while starting up.
Is there any way to override that lookup?

CS6 Epub Output and XHTML File Names

Is there any way to customize or otherwise assign specific names to the XHTML files InDesign CS6 assigns to the various sections it creates when it splits files for an epub? I mean, if my InDesign file is named ""InDesign_File Name.indd", the autosplit XHTML files in the epub will be namedinstead of "InDesign_File Name-1.xhtml", "InDesign_File Name-2.xhtml", "InDesign_File Name-3.xhtml" etc. What I would love is if InDesign would use the NCX nav-panel entry text fields to name the XHTML files, although I see why that would be hard to program, since NCX entries don't necessarily require separate XHTML files to link to and can link to more than one anchor in a single file. But still, it could be like a text variable first-or-last-on-page option.
What I am saying is that HTML files named "Dedication.xhtml" "Prologue.xhtml", "Chapter_1.xhtml", etc., would be easier to work with if there was an easy way to generate them short of breaking the single book-length file into pieces and recompiling it as an InDesign book. Is there any way to make that happen?

As far as I know, you'd have to manually rename the HTML files, then fix the names in the Manifest of the "content.opf" file.

InDesign CS6 interactive fla and swf files to .mov files

I have created an interactive file with photos in InDesign CS6 and would like to be able to drop it into iMovie to use as part of a slideshow. How do I convert the swf or fla file to an iMovie compatible file? Any direction would be appreciated.

The resulting mov can be treated as any other movie in iMovie.
Vector-graphics, interactive formats, etc are of no use in an video-editor ...

Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system and mov files

We have just installed a new Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system with a HP 820Z (running windows 7) 18 core multi drive system. Our production company has used many mov. files from Ponds. We were a FCP 7.0 studio (still have the system) but the mov files won't import to our new CS6 System... Not trying to import from the mac...have them stored on another PC. We depend on this stock footage for production. Do I need to download a converter? I just had to produce two spots with a still background because I could not get any of our stock mov files to work...

PP does support direct import of Quicktime files that can be played back on the system.
What is the correct error message after import?
Can you playback the files with the Quicktime Player?
For some codecs like DNXHD you have to install the quicktime codec first...

ExtendScript Toolkit CS6 quits immediately after it starts

Dear all,
I have a weird problem and cannot find any related answer.
That is my extendscript toolkit CS6 closes itself immediately after it starts.
It only shows the window and then disappears.
I have tried several ways and also reinstalls it several times, and all attempts failed.
Does anyone have the same problem?

I have tried starting ExtendScript Toolkit CS6 with Shift only or Shift+Ctrl+Alt.
However, neither worked.
I have also tried several times to manually delete
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities - CS6\ExtendScript Toolkit CS6, and reinstall it.
Doesn't work.
Because my OS is Windows XP, I cannot locate the folder
H:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\ExtendScript Toolkit\3.8.
Where does it store the preferences in XP?
Moreover, are there any log I can find some hints why it quits so quickly?

How to clean up the list of recent files in the Getting Started Window?

The pinned/not pinned distinction for projects appearing in the getting stared window (GSW) is a bit moot if like me you are working on only a few projects.
What I find particularly distracting is projects popping up in this list if, say, I check out some examples, or temporarily load a project from an alternate location, etc.
I want to remove those from the list right away, but as simple as the request sounds, I could not figure out how to do that elegantly.
Pinning/Unpinning doesn't work, there is no "Clear recent file/project list" in the corresponding LV menus and the only way I can think of doing that is by editing the ini file.
Am I missing something?

This has been one of those majorly annoying things I have screamed about for a long time. And when they created the "new" GSW with the pinned projects and recent files, I was so hoping they would just add a simple right-click menu to remove an item from the list. But no. It didn't happen.

Can´t prevent ExtendScript Toolkit from starting debug mode

Hi,
i have developed a panel in configurator and have installed it in my plugins folder in ID 5.5
If i click buttons, it opens ExtendScript Toolkit and shows me one single yellow line. If i click "Debug" > "Run" it executes
my script, but i have to click "Run" for each button i click in my panel.
It happens only on my computer. On other machines its running fine.
Is there a way to prevent this permanent debug mode startup?

How can I download ExtendScript Toolkit for CS6 in the Creative Cloud

I try to find a way to get the ExtendScript Toolkit for CS6 products. The Adobe Scripting Center states "The latest version of ExtendScript Toolkit (ESTK 3.8) is available with Creative Suite 6." How can I get if from the Creative Cloud"?

I've recently been given a macbook pro from uni, with lots of adobe software on. I want to pair it with my iMac which has music etc and is it possible to get the software to the imac and the files to the macbook?Giving me the best of both :-)

You would need the original installation disks or files for the Adobe software to get it onto your iMac, and having it on two computers may not be allowed by your university's licensing. Talk to whoever issued the MacBook.
As to the music, just copy it over to the MacBook, either via Home Sharing, file sharing, or an external storage medium (hard drive, USB flash drive, etc.).

For some odd reason I'm not getting sound of of my hdtv/monitor.HELP? I uninstalled all the drives and apps I download. I moived files either to trash if not needed, and others to other external drives. I went into disk utility and did a repair disk permission and verify disk. Clean out junk files. Now my hdtv/monitor does not give me any sound, nor does my mac mini. Can someone please tell me what to do?

CS5 & CS6 (Photoshop and Bridge) file association fix ?

My Win7 SP1 system is now runnging smoothly with Bridge CS5 properly invoking Photoshop PS5 and Bridge CS6 invoking Photoshop PS6. Simply changing the File type associations in Bridge CS5 did not seem to work. This was "solved" at 3AM last night while sipping a glass of Scotch - therefore it would be interesting if others would confirm my sleepy discovery:
1. CS6 assigns all standard graphics files to be associated with CS6 and thus causes Bridge CS5 to invoke Photoshop PS6. The objective is to have Bridge CS5 invoke PS5 at least for chosen file types. Ensure neither CS5 nor CS6 is invoked.
2. In the Win7 Start Menu search box, type "file association".
3. Select the "Change the file type associated with a file extension". This starts a window titled "Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program".
4. All of the graphic files are assocated with CS6. For those files you want to associate with Photoshop PS 5, click on the choses file extension (e.g. .cr2, .nef, .psd, etc) and click on the "Change Program" to associate the extension to Adobe Photoshop CS5. (note. this step seems to be a necessary operation since, when I simply modified the Bridge 5 file type associations, Bridge 5 did not honour the change).
5. Start Bridge CS5. Choose "Edit -> Preferences -> File Type Associations".
6. For each file type you wish opened in CS5, change the association from CS6: choose the "Browse" option and locate the CS5 version of Photoshop.exe". This is probably in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)/Photoshop.exe. I happen to choose .cr2, nef, and .psd. Click on OK to complete the association.
At this point, you can invoke Bridge 5 and it will properly invoke PS 5. If you invoke Bridge 6, it will invoke PS6. If you use file manager to invoke one of your selected file extension types, it will start Bridge PS 5. Other graphic files will start PS 6.
If you wish, you can go back and reassociate the chosen types to CS 6 - but your Bridge 5 will still invoke PS5 for your chosen extensions since the Bridge-assigned file associations takes priority over the windows default programme.
