CS6 Extendscript Toolkit won't start on my Windows 7 64bit machine...

When launching ExtendScript I just get a blank application window with a totally unresponsive ui. I don't get a blank document on startup, I can't use any hotkeys, buttons or menu items to create or open a document. Compeletely dead. I tried deleting the preferences for it but that did nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice already. Searching the forums did not return much except for the deleting the preferences tip. Anybody have a clue as to why this is happening? The rest of the suite works fine bt I need the extendscript to do my job here.

Okay, I just figured out why it wasn't working and it's really stupid on both mine and adobe's part. At least I think so anyway. I downloaded the scripting guides for photoshop and illustrator because my install did not come with them. The reason the toolkit didn't start properly was because I wanted to keep all the scripting guides and docs in one place and put them in the sdk doc folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Utilities - CS6\ExtendScript Toolkit CS6\SDK\English
As soon as I removed them the toolkit started up fine. Yeah, I know, I shouldn't be putting stuff like that in the program files folder but really? Not starting becasue I put a few pdf's in its install folder? I was totally reaching for straws when I decided to move those pdf's out of there and just had to do a face palm for a day wasted trying to figure this out. Anyway, maybe my mistake will help others in the future.

I am having the same problem. I didnt have quicktime on my computer, so i downloaded that and still not opening. I have re-installed it 3 times, restarted my computer multiple times. try'd launching in compatable mode (95,xp,and vista), tried running as admin, and have tried restoring previous versions,and now even those wont start. It was working fine, untill i installed the new update 2 days ago. i think it was update 11.0.1, im pretty sure i had 11.0.0

Can you please mention the version of Adobe Acrobat that you are using and on what OS version. Also mention whether this problem has started recently and was running fine earlier or is it a fresh install and has never worked for you.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the product after you started facing this issue.

Extendscript toolkit won't load

I'm running CS4 on Windows XP and trying to look at some of the help information in the extendscript toolkit to help with some scripting issues in ID, but for some reason the toolkit simply won't load. I've tried right-clicking on an ID script and then choosing edit script; I've tried running it from the start menu, and the results are the same: sometimes I get a brief hourglass (or not), and then nothing. Has anyone had this experience and figured what to do about it?

You would possibly have to press those keys while starting... and that's hardly possible when the program quits to quickly. I recognize the error you have, but do not remember exactly how I fixed it. There are probably some preferences files on disk (if they are the problem), which can be renamed in order to let new ones be generated. That has been the case with the main application.
Look for updates for InDesign (Help menu), so you're sure to have the latest.
Also try resetting the preferences for InDesign (the main application) by pressing Shift+Ctrl+Alt while starting it. If that makes no difference you could have a look (v. google) for resetting/trashing the preferences by hand for the ESTK.
A last resort would be to reinstall.

CS6 extendscript toolkit and recent files

Hi,
I have problem with ESTK on Windows 7, after working with some files on network shares I have still these files in recent files and ESTK freezes when I try to start ESTK offline.
Changing list lenght in preferences isn't working, trying to fill list by opening many local files too. Now opening and saving local file take minutes.
How to clean this list?

Premiere will freeze at loading screen and won't start. Running win7 64bit

Hi, I'm having a bit of a problem here.
I just recently upgraded to CC because I had this issue with the CS 6 versions.
The problem:
Premiere Pro, inDesign, Illustrator and After Effects won't start. They will all get stuck at the loading screen. The weird thing is that Photoshop and Lightroom work without any problems.
I've tried restarting, completely wiping all Adobe Software with the cleaner tool and reinstalling. I've contacted support via chat and the couldn't find a fix. I then looked for weird processes in the task manager and found out that after a while (2-5 minutes) of letting Premiere show a blank loading screen (no "Loading ..." / "Initialising..." etc), suddenly "Loading ImporterPhotoshopProxy.prm" will appear and a process called "PhotoshopServer.exe" will show up in the task manager. If I kill this process then Premiere will start.
Has anyone had similar problems? Can't find anything on Google.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".

I have been having Yosemite problems similar to those discussed elsewhere (e.g. iMac 27" late 2013 and Yosemite) (albeit with 10.10.1, Mid-2010 MacBook Pro): can't enter Time Machine, although it seems to be backing up; programs including Illustrator, EndNote, and Boinc don't start, or only after an hour or two (others, including Microsoft Office, seem okay). They will start normally in safe mode, but not for a newly created user. Many permission repairs carried out (seems okay except for a couple recurring printer-related messages), disk is okay, PRAM and SMC reset. Spent some time with various tech support, so most of these have been tried several times.
The solution here com.apple.xpc.launchd & com.apple.mdworker.bundles pollute logs with errors worked through one restart - there were two mystery uids, owning many files - but not through a second.
I have followed the permission repair procedure from another post (discussions.apple.com/message/27015992#27015992); the initial return was 639, and now it is 0. Restarted since then, nothing appeared to change.
Below is what I get from the test suggested in the first thread mentioned, I hope there is something informative here! I'll study it myself, but don't know what might or might not matter.

Hello Linc et al.,
I have been having Yosemite problems similar to those discussed elsewhere (e.g. iMac 27" late 2013 and Yosemite) (albeit with 10.10.1, Mid-2010 MacBook Pro): can't enter Time Machine, although it seems to be backing up; programs including Illustrator, EndNote, and Boinc don't start, or only after an hour or two (others, including Microsoft Office, seem okay). They will start normally in safe mode, but not for a newly created user. Many permission repairs carried out (seems okay except for a couple recurring printer-related messages), disk is okay, PRAM and SMC reset. Spent some time with various tech support, so most of these have been tried several times.
The solution here com.apple.xpc.launchd & com.apple.mdworker.bundles pollute logs with errors worked through one restart - there were two mystery uids, owning many files - but not through a second.
I have followed the permission repair procedure from another post (discussions.apple.com/message/27015992#27015992); the initial return was 639, and now it is 0. Restarted since then, nothing appeared to change.
Below is what I get from the test suggested in the first thread mentioned, I hope there is something informative here! I'll study it myself, but don't know what might or might not matter.

Win7 BootCamp won't start up after Windows Update

I been using Win7 with Bootcamp for over 8 months now and no problem but last night I shut down with a windows update and this morning it can not start up at all. I just get a black screen. I can select and enter my OSX drive no problem, even access the Boot Volume and copy files off it to my Mac partition also. Holding option key on startup shows my two dirves also. Is there anyway to revert back to old version of Win7 on startup or do I have to reinstall everything again?

Did you let the update complete? or shutdown while some of the update was still to be completed. A lot of it is done and completed after a restart.
Start getting into making sure you have free space, using restore points (you may need to boot from the DVD). You can also rollback an udpate to driver or uninstall.
There are always and will be 2nd Tues of the month critical security update in two days. The only Windows Update I've seen are to Microsoft Security Essentials. Maybe 3rd party issue?
I use CCleaner 3.0 on a daily basis to clean out temp files.
(you are running Windows, Boot Camp, no, that was/is drivers and partitioning tool, nothing else). Do you use a VM also? makes it sound like you might. Updates are best done running Windows natively, that is about as close as I can make it to what people keep referring to as "running Windows on Boot Camp" is just Windows running, not as a guest OS VM.

Illustrator CS6 Czech version won't run on English Windows 8.1

PLEASE help, I had to get a different computer and Illustrator won't run on it. It comes up with an error that the language is not supported. Can't do anything about it.
I would download and install an English version if I could but I only have an access to the Czech one as that's what I bought. I spent a lot of money for this and it's not working!

ITunes won't start on my Windows XP PC, no alerts.

I download iTunesSetup.exe 83.1Mo from Applr.com.
I do the installation process without any error or alert message.
At the end of the installation I chek the option to start iTune, et click the finish button. Nothing happen.
I restart my computer and anothor installation and check the rapare option.Process is terminated without any error or alert message.
ITunes is stil not starting.
If I check Task windows list, iTune is not present.
If I check Process windows list, iTune is not present, but process iTunesHelper.exe and iPodService.exe are started.

If you're getting an error-message-free iTunes launch error, and the iTunes.exe is making a brief-if-any appearance in Task manager, we'd better check for a QuickTime problem.
Try updating your QuickTime Player to the most recent version. Does iTunes start launching again?

Firefox 8.0.1 won't start on my Windows XP computer

loaded Firefox 8.0.1 onto my Windows XP computer, and went through the installation process smoothly. But then, when I tried to use Firefox, it wouldn't start. I tried hitting the icon on the desktop, and also tried to run the program from the *.exe file in the My Programs part of the computer. Neither worked.
My previous version of Firefox was version 6.x, and worked perfectly. Now, I have nothing on this computer except IE. Any help would be appreciated.

Skype 7.6 won't start up on Windows 7 ultimate

I can see that Skype is running in Task Manager (processes) but the application is simply not starting up.

Try first again to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old.
Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.
Restart Skype.
If this will still not help, then run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

ITunes won't start: Error is "Windows - No Disk"

Hi all,
So whenever I try to open iTunes, the following happens:
-About 1-2 minutes of the computer "grinding" or "thinking". Lights flashing, etc.
-Error message then pops up. It says "Windows - No Disk" and below that, it says "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into the drive." Below that are buttons for Retry, Cancel, and Continue.
I have Windows XP Pro. Any ideas? Thanks!

I am also getting the No Disk error, but only when I plug in my girl's iPod (shuffle). I can click continue or cancel a couple of times and it seems to work fine, but it is still very annoying. We have been using the shuffle without any problems for a few days. When we first got it, we had other problems. We spent about 12 hours between us trying to get iTunes to see the Shuffle. I followed all of the instructions in the KB articles to the letter. I combed the forums and finally found a solution, right before I was about to give up and declare the thing defective. The solution was to give the iPod a different drive letter (P:) than the one automatically given by XP, using Disk Management. This is essentialy the fix suggested by the MS KB article to which you refer.
At any rate, I've got to fix this No Disk issue before she updates her iPod next, or she will freak. I noticed once that after I clicked 'continue' a message box with a rapidly moving green progress bar appeared for a second or two. It looked like the same box that comes up when you attach a storage device like an external hard drive and Windows searches it for pictures, audio, etc. before it displays a list of appropriate actions to take based on the types it finds. No such list appeared, however. I think it is relevant at this point to mention that disk use is not enabled on this iPod.
It looks to me that the Apple software and the OS are fighting for control of the device. Based on what I have read on the forums today, I suspect that my anti-virus might have something to do with it. I am using AVG Free Edition. I can't troubleshoot it right now, because the girl has the iPod.
Any further help that the experts out there can give would be greatly appreciated. Apparently, Shuffle customers are not entitled to free phone or on-line chat support for any period of time. I have read quite a few posts on this type of problem, both in the iTunes and the iPod forums, and I think this is the only one with any attempt at a resolution. Well, except for the guy who said he fixed it by changing a setting in McAffe (sp?). I will also post whatever I find out.

ITunes won't start anymore in Windows 8

i just loaded windows 8 and my iTunes was working just fine and then it wasn't. Anyone having the same issues?

Hhhmmm! So which bit of "it's not yet supported" do you not understand?
Although the definition of an early adopter is open to dispute, it is fairly obvious that that's the price you pay for being an early adopter - especially if you insist on adopting before the product is actually supported.
I guess - no I think - that the issue is yours, not Apple's They have given no undertaking yet, to support Windows 8 but you go ahead anyway.
And then you complain about it.
It's not that I'm unsympathetic, but it's a bit much that effectively, you were asked to wait, you ignore that, and then try to hold Apple responsible. Perhaps, next time, a little patience might be in order.
