CS6: Fonts substituting when printing

Today is my first day using CS6 and all of a sudden some of my fonts are substituting (to a default font) when I print. The print preview looks  normal. These are the exact same files I've been able to print with no problem in CS5. I tried setting Convert All Text to Outlines: On in the print presets and that didn't do it. (and of course I don't want to have to convert all of my text to outlines each time I print).
I also uninstalled and reinstalled my printer last night but I've done that before with no issues so I don't think it's the culprit.
Anyone know what I would need to change to fix this?

Found this for Windows may be similar for win 7.
The Adobe caches are located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\TypeSpt and delete any AdobeFnt*.lst files. Do not delete AdobeFnt.db or FontNames.db!! Those are not caches. As with the Mac, make sure that no Adobe apps are running when you delete them.
The Windows caches are
Windows NT, 2000, XP and Vista C:\WINDOWS\system32\FNTCACHE.DAT
Windows 95, 98, and Me (you pour soul) C:\WINDOWS\ttfCache

  • Wrong with font file when printing InDesign

I get an error message when press print and the message is "There was a problem with the font file" (translated from Swedish) I have tried to change font but it dosent help. Anyone that have a solution to fix this problem?
I have started to use latest InDesign CC when this happened after used it for a couple of weeks. Running a HP 64 bit workstation with Windows XP

Sounds like it is warning you are missing a font in the document when printing it.
When you open the InDesign document, In the lower-left corner of your screen, do you see any errors?
Double-click the error. This will display the Preflight panel.
Click on the Expansion arrow next to Text.
Do you see a 'Mssing font' error? If yes, keep expanding until you can select the actual error.
At the bottom of the panel, click the expansion arrow to the left of Info. You'll be able to see a bit more information about the error, and also a tip on how you can fix it. E.g. you can either install the font on your computer, or replace it with another font before printing. If you click on the link to the far right of the error, it will take you to the text in the document that is formatted with a missing font.

  • Font size when printing email messages

Having chosen a larger font for viewing email messages, is there a way to avoid printing email messages in the larger font, but rather print in the default font?

    HI RRW21,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.   I understand that when trying to print an email from your iPad to your Deskjet 3512 that the email prints with a large-sized font.
The size of the font is controlled by the email program and its font settings.  Apple’s AirPrint feature and HP’s ePrint app don’t have the ability to modify the font.  To modify the font please ask the email sender to modify it in any future emails or forward the email to yourself and modify the font before pressing Send.  I have included Apple’s About AirPrint and the HP ePrint Mobile App FAQ documents for your reference.

  • Japanese font issue when print

    Hi ,
We're trying to implement SAP for our Japan company, and use our existing abap list as some print out report.
The system was upgraded 3 yrs ago, from non-unicode to unicode.
And existing system spool used, LOCL, was created when system running under unicode.
Now we tried to create new output device ""UNI""
    and device type SWINCFT
This device was created due to ""LOCL"" device can't have japanese character work properly, printed as box.
But the print font in this output device ""UNI"" is much smaller than we printed in LOCL.
Please tell us what we can to to adjust the font bigger for better user experience.

    Hi Nils,

  • Strange font behaviour when printing from PDF

Hi - hoping someone can shed some light as I've been going slightly crazy trying to figure out what's happening.
I'm working on a Mac. I'm using the .ttf fonts of the Oswald family - obtained from Google fonts (and various other sources to rule out corrupt files).
When exporting the PDF from InDesign and printing it myself, there are no issues. When I send the PDF to others on a Windows machine, it prints fine.
When sending the PDF to my client (always the way) some of the font characters are, well, nudged down half way almost, out of alignment. It only happens on some characters, not all.
We only discovered this before submitting an ad to the printers, and for safety's sake, I converted all the text to outlines. Ok for now, however not a long term solution as we need to be able to use this font for live situations.
Has anyone experienced this before? Or perhaps can anyone suggest a workaround? I have to use TTF fonts as a 3rd party company who are working on some dynamic brochures have requested it.
    I'm literally at a loss.
    Thanks in advance.

Well I can give you what I did to get around the problem.  I am running Adobe X pro on windows 7.
    1.  The print job in queue, cancel it so that it is deleted.  You now should have no jobs pending.
    2.  Go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers(Win7) or just the printer and devices for your OS.  Yes this must be done with Admin privilages.
    3.  Go to Printer Properties for the Adobe PDF printer.
    4.  Select the ports tab.  Mine was on Com3.
    5.  Select Add a Port and call it Adobe Printer or something.
    6.  Select the check box and select apply.
You should now print with no errors.

Yes I am aware this has been a year, but this has happened over several versions.

  • Font size when printing from Safari to HP Photosmart 6520 printer

I just bought a Macbook Pro 13 inch, running OSX 10.9.5.  When I try to print something from within a Safari web page to my HP PhotoSmart 6520 printer, the font is huge. Does anyone know how to adjust the font size for use with Safari. The font size seems to be ok when I print from Pages, for example. So I m thinking the issue may be limited to printing from Safari.

No one has replied yet and HP has never played well with Apple, so the best I can do right now is to point out a site that has proven very helpful to many users wanting or needing to read up on color management and printing:

  • Font glitches when printing

I am trying to print an education newsletter. On the screen it looks fine. When I preview it, it looks fine. When I print it, the Headline text at the top (I called it "Division 6 Newsletter), gets all morphed together. Both times I have done it another letter is between the n and S, the x and the N. One time it was a O and anothet time it was an N. Any ideas how to fix this? I'm using an Epson C80 that up until now has worked perfectly fine. I've checked for driver updates on the Epson site, but nothing new is there, at least from what I can see.

PS just figured out it happens when the title is in a bold font, but not always...happens in AppleWorks too.

  • Adobe Reader font size when printing

I am having an issue with an employee and printing from Adobe Reader.  The user is using Windows 7 Ultimate on version 11.0.07 of Adobe.  She uses a program called certified mail where she prints addresses on to certified mail forms.  The font is extremely small.   She uses an HP Laserjet 1536 printer.  I have contacted HP and they showed me the Preferences>Commenting section to change the font in Adobe from size 10 to 14 but this still didn't help her problem.  This employee can print to a different network printer and it prints the fonts larger, the way they want them to be.  This seems to be to her local 1536 printer, which is attached via USB cable.
My question is, how do I change the size of the font to make it more legible?  When she prints these forms, it pops up in Adobe to print preview.  The preview fonts are very small.  I was told to change the resolution on the printer, but that will only show the preview as larger and not the actual print.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Univers 47 fonts substituted when PDF run

I'm trying this in the FrameMaker forum and here...I'm running FrameMaker 9 with embedded PDF
on Windows XP 2002, SP2. Fonts will print okay to system printers, but are changed to Times New Roman when I PDF. Does anyone know why or how to fix this? Is it something I need to do in FM or ? I tried adding them to the embedded list when doing the Save to PDF, but they don't seem to hold. The Univers 55 fonts do fine. Any thoughts? Thanks,
    Dawn

    1. When creating a pdf you should have the Adobe PDF Printer instance set as the printer. In fact it is best to be the default printer.
    2. The Univers 47 font how is/was it installed in your system?

  • Font colours when printing to printer or to PDF

In Word for Mac 2011, if I select the colour 'blue' (which is nice and bright) and then print to printer or to PDF it comes out a grey-blue.  I thought it might be a printer problem but it comes out like that when saving to PDF as well.  Anybody know a fix please?

  • How can I increase the event font size when printing a weekly listing from Lightning?

I find a printed weekly calendar very useful in my life. I used to use the Sunbird calendar program with the FG Print extension to increase the font size to something more appropriate for my aged eyes. Is there a way to do this with Lightning? I'm running Thunderbird 24.2.0 on Linux Mint 13, if that matters.
    Thanks in advance.

Are you using the print formatted page for printing? You can pop that up from the '''...''' menu that appears above the item. (Screen shot example attached.)
If that page still is too small:
    * Is Firefox using the full area of the page? If Firefox is only using part of it, this could be related to a problem reading the correct "paper size" from your printer driver. More tips on that if needed.
    * If Firefox is using the full page it might be shrinking the content to make space horizontally. In a window where you can access the menu bar, check File>Page Setup or orange Firefox button>Print>Page Setup to make sure the scaling is not set too small or, if necessary, turn off Shrink to Fit.

  • Font changes when printing from CVI OI

    TestStand 3.1f1
    CVI 7.0
We generate text reports and like to have them displayed and printed
using a fixed width font (the default in TestStand).  From the
sequence editor, selecting the print button from the report tab of a
completed execution yields a correctly printed page.  However, the
print button on the ReportView in the CVI Full-Featured Operator
Interface prints with a variable width font.  The reports appear
on screen correctly in both the sequence editor and the OI.
    Thanks,

    Hi
    There is one workaround.
You can change the report Font for text reports from your current font to Courier New.
    That should print correctly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Font changes in the last line of paragraph when printing

    InDesign CS3 (5.0.2), Dell P4, 3Ghz, 1gb ram
This is a one page document with about half a page of text and some graphics. When printing to HP Laserjet, everything prints fine. When printing to Lanier 2138 color laser, everything prints fine EXCEPT for the last line of the second paragraph.
The text changes to an unrecognizable font. (The rest of the document uses Trebuchet.) It does happen on the line after a hyphenated word, but we've put the entire word on the last line (eliminating the hyphen) and get the same results.
As I mentioned, the entire page prints perfectly to the HP black and white laserjet. It also prints perfectly to the Lanier 2138 *IF* we create a PDF first and THEN send it to the 2138.
I've checked the knowledgebase and searched this forum, but haven't seen anything related to this issue. Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time.
    Todd

    Todd,
That field is the font style field, not a "Paragraph" field. It just happens to be next to the button that changes the control panel to paragraph mode.
Is the file you posted the same one you made the jpeg from, or the one where you changed that field to "regular"? I'm thinking the latter, because the paragraph shows regular when I highlight it. Also, I don't think the font in the jpeg has changed, just it is printing gibberish on that last line.
Try this: File > Export and for type choose Interchange format (.inx). Open that file in InDesign and save again as an InDesign document. See if that prints.
If not, I'd say it's almost certainly the driver.
