CS6 Hangs on Start-up
Just got a new 27-inch iMac. Can't run CS6 Production Premium
Deactivated CS6 on the old machine.
Ran Migration Assistant.
Photoshop hangs (spinning beachball after 30+ minutes) on startup (after splash screen.. Large black window with toolbar on the left).
Force Quit Photoshop
Uninstalled CS6 using Adobe uninstaller.
Deleted contents of /Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe
Deleted contents of ~/Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe
Emptied Trash
Restarted Machine
Repaired Permissions using Disk Utility
Installed fresh download of CS6 Production Premium.
Photoshop hangs on startup.
Illustrator hangs on splash screen (Initializing plugins.. Rasterize.aip)
Repeated steps 4 through 13 with identical results.
Console log from last install at: http://pastebin.com/u3a5y48r
SOLVED... but the answer is ugly, and it took a lot of effort to pin it down.
This isn't an issue with the Adobe Software. The problem was caused by using Apple's Migration Assistant. The only solution appears to be to reformat the disk and reinstall the OS, then hand build the new system one install at a time.
I tried doing a CMD-R reinstall of the OS (Mountain Lion), but that did not cure the problem.
At the Apple store the guy at the genius bar offered to replace the machine, but said "Let's try something first, is everything backed up?". I replied yes and he reformatted the disk and reinstalled the OS from the store server. We then installed the Photoshop CS6 trial (much quicker than all of CS6) and it worked fine. We created another user, and PS worked for that user too. I then installed the Vidyo Desktop client that was hanging and it worked. Clearly the problem had something to do with the Migration Assistant. I had migrated two users, one from a recent MacBook Air running the current release of Mountain Lion, and one from my old desktop Mac Pro which is too old to run Mountain Lion and so was running the last release of Lion. Since that machine started out running 10.4.7 (Tiger) and had been through numerous upgrades both "the genius" and I thought the problem was probably something old and nasty that was migrated from that machine.
We were wrong. When I got the machine home I ran the Migration Assistant again to move the user from the MacBook Air. ....and that broke CS6 again. And it broke it for all users on the machine.
Yet another FDISK and OS install (aaarrrrgghhh). I'm now working on building the machine installing one app at a time and moving files manually. Everything's working fine so far.
I suppose I could test whether or not it's specific to that MacBook by migrating the user from the Lion machine again, but if it fails it's another FDISK and OS install, and I'm now seeing installer progress bars in my sleep, so I think I'll pass.
The moral of the story: If you're a CS user, stay far, far away from Apple's Migration Assistant.

If you didn't tell it to migrate, then it won't migrate anything.
It just does a quick check at launch to see if there is a previous version, then asks you if you would like to migrate presets from that previous version. It only does any significant work if you tell it to migrate the old presets.
It is remotely possible that even the quick check for old versions could take a while if there was something wrong with your disk or volumes mounted on your system - but I haven't seen that happen. -
Illustrator CS6 Hangs on Start-Up/Launch
Hi Everyone,
I have a client that installed CS6 Productiom Premium with a volume license on multiple Mac Pros and is saying that Illustrator hangs upon launch, meaning, it will take 1-2 minutes to launch the program. Out of all the computers he has installed the software with, one does not have an issue with start-up and launches almost immediately. He is currently looking on his end what is different on that machine compared to the others.
But what I need help with is suggesting to him what else can he try to rectify the hang-up issue? I have walked him through the steps in deleting his Font cache and resetting his preferences and he still reports a hang-up on launch.
Does any one have any other suggestions? He has Mac Pros with Lion on them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!Server-side user profiles, references to previously opened files on network volumes, all other network stuff you can imagine. AI is notoriously inept at most of that. Beyond that anything from color profiles, fonts, printers and other configuration stuff can have similar effects. Also you may need deal with that PDF stuff that Apple hide/ suppress on newer versions of OSX. Not a current Mac user, though, just throwing out recollections from things I've read here and there...

Adobe after effects CS6 hangs on starting
After Effects CS6 (PC, French trial version) needs 5-10 minutes to start up, hangs on the message "MediaCore wird initialisiert". On another PC it works fine. I did a reinstall, no effect. No plugins are installed.
I would also like to know how these video effects in this video are done right in the beginingSee this:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/startup-screen-hangs-premiere-after.html
Also, make sure that you've installed all recent updates so that you're running After Effects CS6 (11.0.2), not 11.0.0:
http://adobe.ly/DVA_updates
You've already gotten an answer to your last question here:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/5547470#5547470
I recommend continuing the conversation about techniques on that thread, rather than confusing this current thread, which is about your trouble when starting the application. -
Illustrator CS6 hangs saving files to local HD while having multiple server share points mounted
Mac OS 10.6
Illustrator CS6
Illustrator CS6 hangs (spinning beach ball) when saving files to the computer's local HD while having multiple server share points mounted.
I am NOT opening or saving the file to or from a server.
The server is mounted so that I can move my saved file to it once complete.
Unmounting the servers fixes the problem and Illustrator CS6 returns to being normal (not causing a spinning beach ball).
This is repeatable, not intermitent. We were having similar issues working over a network. I believe it's a Mac OS 10.6 issue, something to do with the Mac finder searching for file dates or metadata on the servers. From what I understand, this has been fixed in OS 10.7. We can't yet move to 10.7 and after trying many possible fixes, found that a Mac finder alternative, Path Finder, fixed most server delays. It's not free, but you can give it a 30 day trial to see if it fixes your issue. Here is a link to discussions about other suggested fixes:

Dreamweaver CS6 hangs when opening file
Starting recently Dreamweaver CS6 hangs for 30 seconds or more, sometimes saying not responding, when I open an HTML file. It appears to do this when the file contains links to external places. To test I created a file that contained nothing except the "new HTML file" basic headers, saved the file, then opened. This test file did not hang.
I have tried the registry fix "ResolveRemoteURLToIPAddress FALSE" and deleting the personal configuration directory (with Dreamweaver closed). Neither of these solved the problem. Dreamweaver still hangs when opening a file.
Any other ideas?
Barry.Once the document opens, check the code for any protocol relative links (links that start with // rather than http://) and change them to http:// links, at least during development. It is a know issue to Adobe and will cause what you describe.
If you don't have any protocol relative links, links to third party sites can cause issues from time to time if their servers are slow or have any kind of conflict with your network. Unless you absolutely can't, you may want to copy those external scripts to your local site and link to the local versions instead, again, during development. -
Dreamweaver CS6 Hangs on Launch Mountain Lion
Upgraded to CS6 over summer, have never been able to get Dreamweaver to run. It hangs on start-up, the start up screen pops up, wheel starts spinning then freezes, have to force quite. Used an older version until I recently updgraded to a new iMac, did a clean launch of software, still won't work, uninstalled used cleaner tool, wiped every trace of Dreameweaver and still doing the same thing (every other bit of Creative Suite works fine, as well as Adobe Contribute). I only have the main user account on the computer. Haven't been able to get through to anyone at Adobe to help, any ideas?
Didn't see any password specific info in the file, just 3 instances of the remote server address, which I removed, I'm happy to delete all site connection info, I have it all backed up.

Hi,
My firefox-profiles in Ubuntu, are practically one-timers.
Next time i want to use firefox it hangs at start. The window comes up
and it's white, except for a square in upper left corner (without color).
I'm having this problem since June 2010, when I started using an electronic ID,
for access to Swedish goverment organisations. The Electronic ID (BnakID) is
supported in Windows, Mac and Ubuntu. I had a new installation of Ubuntu, in a
virtual machine at that time.
I can't say that this is a problem with Firefox in Ubuntu or some other
combination, I'm a newbie with Ubuntu and BankID.
I've used been using Firefox and installing (Firebird, Mozilla) since 2001,
in other OS:es than Ubuntu (Solaris, RedHat, Windows and SLED).
My workaround are:
- cd ~/.mozilla/firefox
- mv profiles.ini profiles.ini-
- Start and stop firefox
- Copy some files from previous profile, to the new.
cd <previous>.default
cp -r bookmark* cert8.db content-prefs.sqlite cookies.sqlite* \
extensions* places.sqlite* prefs.js sessionstore.* signons.sqlite* \
../<new>.default/
- Start firefox
My environment:
Linux uw000141 2.6.32-26-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Wed Nov 24 09:00:03 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
Mozilla Firefox 3.6.13, Copyright (c) 1998 - 2010 mozilla.org
BR,
HenrikTry the fix posted by houseboats in this discussion: spinning beachball suddenly every time at launch. Other users have reported that it fixed their problem which is similar to yours, good with airport off, freeze with airport on.
The only problem I had with the fix was that it killed the name I gave my computer in the System/Sharing preference pane. So if you use it go to that pane and rename your computer as it was originally.

Where to look for the errors
Please help, i have searched everywhere, there are no solutions for this.
Advanced thanksIf you want to run the EPM weblogic admin server and OBIEE at the same time then you would need for them to run on different ports.
You don't have to select the essbase option when installing OBIEE if you have already installed the essbase products.
I would install OBIEE to a different middleware home than EPM and keep the weblogic domains separate.
Cheers

Fix for CS5 & CS6 Hangs with Flashback Virus??
I recently found that my imac was infected with the Flashback Virus.
Ever since then, both CS5 and CS6 hang when trying to open them from Lightroom 4 or 3 using 'edit in.'
This is isolated to my imac since Lightroom 3 & 4 work as expected with CS5 & 6 with my macbook.
I have an appt with the Geniuses at the Apple Store tomorrow to delete the virus (Norton can identify it, but can't delete it. So what are they good for?).
My questions are:
1. Should I ask the experts at Apple to do anything in particular that can affect this problem, or
2. Will a simple 'uninstall'/'reinstall' for LR and CS5 & 6 be sufficient?
Recommendations from the Adobe experts will be greatly appreciated.
Chris BernhardtOh well, the story continues (after I confirmed that CS5 works as expected after an 'uninstall/reinstall').
I deleted the CS6beta and then reinstalled it.
I then tried launching it from LR4 and CS6 hangs.
I then tried is from LR3 and CS6 works.
I then loaded LR4.1 and tried to launch it (all by itself) and LR4.1 hangs (never finishes loading the last photo viewed prior to quitting LR4).
I then deleted LR4.1 and reloaded LR4.0.
LR4.0 launched and it successfully launched CS5.
My conclusion - on my system there are two problems - one where LR4.1hangs and then another where CS6 hangs when trying to launch from LR4.0.
So for now, I'll continue to use LR4.0 and CS5.
I hope this helps with the development of LR4.1 and CS6.
I'll post this separately so it comes to the attention of other members of the Adobe team

Error message Photoshop CS6 won't start in Windows 7
I am unable to start Photoshop in Windows 7 (64 bit Home Premium). I gegt an error message saying Photoshop CS6 won't start and telling me to close the program. Is this a common problem and is there a solution? I have tried opening the program in safe mode and tried a clean boot all without success.

Dreamweaver MX 2004 hangs at start on new Mac Mini OS X 10.5.5
Dreamweaver MX 2004 hangs at start on Brand New Mac Mini OS X
10.5.5.
Mac Mini is brand new, right out of the box. Fresh OS.
I try to start Dreamweaver, and it hangs, and then the
Problem Report comes up with the attached info. I've uninstalled,
downloaded Dreamweaver and re-installed. Nothing works.
----------------------- Here is the Problem report
----------------------Thanks for the reply.
I downloaded and installed the update.
I still get the exact same problem, and error report.
I have the exact same problem with Fireworks MX 2004 as well.
After a fresh download and install of the software, clicking on the
application icon just causes it to bounce momentarily in the dock,
and then it crashes and the error log comes up.
I have been able to install Flash CS4 without incident,
though. It works fine, with no problems.
I shouldn't have to do this on a brand new mini right out of
the box, but I'm going to run a restore on it, and then try a fresh
install once again. -
InDesign CS5.5 and CS6 Hang while opening document
hello,
I have the following problem:
Indesign CS5.5 CS6 and hang up several times a day when opening documents on. the user can not make more in the program and must kill the process. After reopening the document opens without problems (probably the recovery file). I have tried all known solutions (delete Preferences, user with admin privileges, delete caches, safe boot, ...)
here a hang report, which meanwhile has been created.
