CS6 HELP feature

Why does the HELP feature of my new CS6 (Dreamweaver) produce help only for CS5?
Today, I need to know how to set linked documents to open in new window, but CS5 process is not possible, or so it seems.  Can anyone enlighten?

The PDF files at http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver.html, refer to version 12 and the cloud, even though they are entitled CS5 - CS6.
I bought the disk version, as the cloud version is far too expensive to consider if you only use two products and don't need the others.
Where are the help files for CS6 that is not on the cloud? There must be thousands out there using CS6 disk version, that seem to have been abandoned. I only bought the program a few months ago, and now the help that was supposed to come with it seems to have disappeared to the cloud - unless you know better?
The pdf files do not contain any help - only links to help files on line. This is fine if you are on line, but what if, like me, you are unable to get on line due to location?
Often I am working on my laptop in a location that has no web access.
The UK has probably the worst Internet service in the world, second only to places like Nigeria, if you don't live in a big town. I am only able to get on line when at my office.
This is what I meant when I asked how long will the help files be available. The quick answer is that they have already gone, and been replaced by a lot of on line links.
Is there a link to the original pdf files even for CS5. These could be downloaded and set so that your machine did not look on line, and the info was immediately available.
For people who are in the business, this is probably not a problem, but it is for me.

  • CS6 Help is not so useful

The new CS6 Help is harder to use. What happened?
I tried to search for ~CS6 looks~ but I don't get AE CS6 results. Same for ~CS6 3D~. That could cramp my style, or maybe some others. Help is not so useful if you can't search it!
    Some items of note:
    - I'm missing the "search this doc" checkbox.
    - the AIR app didn't install correctly but I never want to see it again anyway.
    - There's no PDF I can find either.

Just downloaded and installed the newly available pdf (offline) versions of the "Help and tutorials" in "Adobe Help Manager".
I read the documentation and have to conclude that I am still not happy with it.
Some time ago, I posted an example of the lack of a sufficient image trace manual in Illustrator CS6. I was looking for the documentation on the advanced features of the new image trace functionality. It just wasn't there and it still is not.
The direction Abobe has taken with the CS6 product documentation is worrisome:
Since when does a product ship before a manual has been completed? Apparently that's since CS6. Once again, if the manual isn't ready, the product cannot ship. Be glad it's CS6 and not your car.
What we have since CS6 is a form of release notes where differences between versions explain what has changed.
This should not replace a proper manual where all functionality is comprehensively described and explained as to be accessible to both new and existing users. This means that the manual should refer to CS6 functionality and not a collage of different version manual pages.
Also a manual should be complete. The CS6 manual in some cases is still missing (in-depth) topics; even on some new CS6 features.
The pdf "Help and tutorials" seems to have become a pdf bundle of the Adobe help webpages. It's probably cheaper to produce and it shows.
I have the impression that in some cases, tutorials will replace written manual texts. Sometimes, I do not want to sit through a video tutorial but use the manual to quickly search and read my information. That is what manuals are for.
If this is the aspired state of the "Adobe Help Manager", I have to conclude that it has absolutely no added value to me.
    Cheers,
    Dave

  • Photoshop CS6 Help/Reference PDF in Russian? | (Справка и поддержка)

Is there such a thing as a Russian version of the CS6 Help/Reference PDF (Справка и поддержка) anywhere on the Adobe site?
My searches are coming up blank.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your efforts, R_Kelly.  Truly appreciated.
However, this just serves to cement the reputation of the Adobe documentation team as the most useless entity since the guardian angel of the Kennedy family.  They're worse than the Adobe installer team, and that's already a disgraceful certificate of poverty that Adobe issues itself.
Though billed in Russian as a "20 MB pdf document", what actually downloads is an absurd 80.2 KB, one-skimpy-page document containing, in Russian, a link to the 20 MB English language version of the reference PDF which we have panned and trounced here as a hopelessly messed up mishmash of references to various versions of Ps and links to tutorial sites.  Note where it says (только на английском языке) = (Only in English).
    Pitiful, just pitiful.

  • What happened to the help feature in CS5

Prior Photoshop versions had a help feature that brought up a document where topics could be easily located in an index. In CS5 this help functionality no longer exists, or I can not find it. Instead there is some new help document that contains no index of subjects and when you try and search for a topic it returns articles not just for CS5 but for earlier versions. This is confusing, I just want to easily locate a particular topic for CS5 only. Is this no longer possible in CS5? If not, why was it dropped?

As Zeno mentioned, you can restrict the search to just the Photoshop CS5 Help document by checking the "This reference only" checkbox. Click here for an example of such a search.
Regarding the lack of an index: Are you referring to the navigation pane (sometimes referred to as a table of contents) on the left side of every page, or are you referring to something else? Either way, I encourage you to give your feedback on the Community Help forum. The people who can affect this system are on that forum.

  • Where is photoshop CS6 help?

Where is photoshop CS6 help? Is it only on-line? Isn't there a version stored onto my mac?

Unfortunately, your help is only online. I say unfortunately, because they can drop it at any time. I have CS5, and when I click Help, it goes to help for CS6, which has a lot of changes in some apps. At least your version is still online.
Ahhh... the good old days with actual paper manuals. They couldn't take those away from you.

  • Audition CS6 Help menu not working

I have downloaded Audition CS6. When I go to 'Help' i get error 10. Is there no help file with the trial?

    Hi All,
I found this on the web and it works!
<http://forums.adobe.com/message/4417566#4417566> CS6 Help Menu Not Working
This does not apply to one application, but is a suite wide fix.
I had been running the CS6 Master Collection trial download version and the help menu, specifically the online "Help" and "Support Center" listed on the main help menu dropdowns of all applications within the suite, was not working, able to connect, or an error that the folder did not exist (apparently corrupted).
Once I just got the CS6 Master Collection (DVDs) I uninstalled the trials, then installed the hard copy version, with the normal reboot in between. The Help menus still did not work.
This is what I'm running. : Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
I called Adobe support and the following was my solution for both my desktop and netbook with this problem.
    1.    Close all running Adobe applications.
    2.    In the directory C:/Program Files (x86)/Adobe/  Delete the "Adobe Help" folder.
    (C:Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Adobe Help/)
    3.    Reboot
    4.    Then go to Adobe.com/support/chc/   (this is the "community help center")
    5.    Click under "Step 2" the "Install Now*" button.
    6.    On one of the windows that open there is a Preferences drop down menu. Select the one that allows online help connection as well as local.
    7.    Click "download" to begin the folder download. The downloaded folders are more than 1 GB for the CS6 Master Suite help files. Watch at the bottom left of the download window to see the small progress meter.
    8.    Once done, reboot.
My CS6 Master Collection help menus throughout were fixed by completing the above.
Thanks Tom! ...at Adobe support for this fix procedure.
I hope this helps someone else out there.
This does not apply to one application, but is a suite wide fix.

  • Providing a user help feature

    Hi,
I am developing an application and would like to provide the user of the application with a 'help' feature that would tell him how to use the application. I am pretty new to java and have no idea about how to go about doing this. Can anyone tell me what are the various ways in which this can be achieved?

  • Help feature for CS2

I have used the 'help' feature for my CS2 applications successfully for the past two years. Now, for some reason I can no longer access 'help' in any of the CS2 applications. Do I need to reinstall 'help' or ???

    Peter,
    Thank you for your response.
I went to the above web site per your insertion. I followed the "Tech Note" instructions for reactivating the 'help' feature of my CS2 applications.
    1. I did verify that the Help content files do exist on my computer as listed (Exception - I do not have InCopy 4.0_en-us-zip.)
    2. I followed steps 2 and 3 for deleting the appropriate files.
    3. In manually launching the Adobe Help Center I found the file ahc (with no exe extension) The file did have a shadowy ? on it. The files seemed to be relaunching ok. but --------
    4. I opened Photoshop and when I clicked on 'help' I received the following error messages: 'Model subsystem returned this error 1034. then 'The instruction at "0X00864a4d" referenced memory at "0X00f50608". The memory could not be "written". Click ok to terminate the program.

Fresh install of WIndows 7 (32-bit). Fresh install of Flash CS6 trial. Click Help > Flash Help and nothing happens. Help does not load. Browser never opens. Nothing happens. Same with Help > Flash Support Center. Also installed Photoshop CS6 trial and that Help system does load (opens browser to online help page). Flash CS6 Help is completely dead. Anyone else experiencing this? Or better yet - how to fix it?

    Hi Lorenzo,
What locale are you trying to install Flash Pro CS6 (and hence, the Help update) on?
Also, could you please send us your error log?
Depending on your platform, it is found at the following locations:
    Win: Program Files\Common files\Adobe\Installers or \Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\ApplicationData\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\
    Mac: /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers or ~/ Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0/
