Hi Corey,
Please uninstall CS6 and deactivate it before by click on help and choose deactivate/sign out.
Then you can install CS6 on the new drive again.

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
If your hardware supports more recent versions then:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?

    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

I want to upgrade to Mavericks. Will I need to reinstall all of my apps and copy my files back to the hard drive?  I have not installed an OS on a Mac before and I'm wondering whether it is as involved as on a PC.

Short answer: You do NOT have to reinstall all your apps and copy your files back.
Longer answer: Upgrading the OS does not touch any user files. Upgrading the OS should not interfere with any applications which are compatible with Mavericks.  In my experience non-Apple apps are generally left unchanged by the upgrade.  It is possible that some apps may need to be upgraded. One good resource for checking application compatibility is RoaringApps.
Finally, it is always wise to backup everything, just in case.

    Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01295079.pdf
Please see chapter 1, page 2 for how much, and what type of memory you can install.
I recommend you install PC2-6400 memory, since the processors can run it at 800 Mhz instead of 667 MHz, which is all that PC2-5300 can run at.

  • I am running Leopard OS X 10.5.8.  I want to upgrade to Lion.  Do I need to download Snow Leopard first?

I am running Leopard OS X 10.5.8.  I want to upgrade to Lion.  Do I need to download Snoe Leopard first?
    Thanks

I cannot make that determination for you. Snow Leopard is not available as a download. You have to purchase it at an Apple Store or order it online. Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later is required to purchase and download Lion from the App Store. Total cost would be $59.00 exclusive of tax and shipping (if any.)
Sometime this month Apple plans to make available a USB flash drive containing the full standalone Lion installe for $69.00. If you did not want Snow Leopard then you may want to wait for this to be available.

  • I want to upgrade to mavericks but my disk needs to be repaired but i have the wrong disk

i want to upgrade to mavericks but my disk needs to be repaired with a disk. so i did a disk utility verify and it told me i needed to repair it with another disk.
but my mac was preinstalled with snowleopard and the disk that came with it is mac 10.5 so when i tried to do a start up with the disk it just freezes the moment i click on the start up disk. (did this by trying holding down option/alt button since holding down the C button just locks my screen to the gray screen)
and 'repair disk' is greyed out.  and i read somewhere that you can't boot with a disk that is lower than what the mac is.
    what can i do?
in case anyone asks for my model:
it is a macbook pro early 2011 model with preinstalled snowleopard

You need to boot using the 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD that you bought from the Apple Store.
If your machine had 10.5 when you got it then in order to upgrade to 10.6.8 you must have purchased 10.6. If you've lost that DVD you can buy it again from the Apple Store.

Had hard drive renewed due to product recall (iMac) backed up complete system on time machine . Had the drive done got mac back tried to reinstall from time machine .The new drive tells me that the space has been taken up but can't find where the file have gone. Need to free up the space that the ghost file take up so I can drag drop from ex drive onto harddrive

    Here's the scoop, new friend.....
When you boot into Time Machine you'll get the same OS X Utilities screen as you would if you booted into the Recovery HD. So, from there go into Disk Utilities to erase/format your internal drive. After that's done, back out to the OS X Utilities screen and select the restore option. Just follow the prompts to select the TM back up date you want to restore from and where to restore it to. Pretty straight forward.

  • HT2305 I want to upgrade IMovie, IPhoto, Garageband and ITunes. My MacBookAir is one year old. But what are the prices for updates?

My MacBookAir is one year. I want to upgrade IMovie, IPhoto, Garageband and ITues, But What are the prices for these upgrades. How do I get around?

Actually, if you are updating the free iLife apps (iPhoto, iMovie & GarageBand) that came with your new Mac, the updates are free. Only if you are upgrading to newer major paid versions would you be charged.
    iTunes is always free, but is located in Apple Downloads, not the Mac App Store;

  • I want to upgrade to lion server but I need to install version 10.7 first?. Were do I find 10.7?

I have a mac mini server currently with OSx 10.6.8.  I want to upgrade to lion server but am told I need to install version 10.7 first?
Went to app store, cant find version 10.7. can anyone help me locate where I download server version 10.7?

The current version of Server on the MacApp Store has been updated
to 2.0 and requires Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8).  You could just
upgrade to Mountain Lion.  With the exception of some new features,
it is in reality an improvement to Lion.  The upgrade is cheaper as well.
If your Mini Server can be updated to it, you might as well just go with
    Mountain Lion.
You do realize that the OS and server are two seperate entities now?

  • How much space no I need to make Carbon Copy Clone of my internal drive?

I am upgrading the RAM and HDD in my mid 2009 Macbook Pro. How much space on my external hard drive do I need if I want to make Carbon Copy Clone of my internal drive?
Current drive is 250 GB in capacity
I currently have limited space on in external HD

Hi Niel thanks for the quick reply,
My 250GB capacity drive is relatively full (at about 245GB). Given what you mentioned above,  I assume  I must need to have room for 20GB of surplus space for each backup I make?
And therefore, would I need 265GB (to backup the 245GB drive) for the first time I clone the drive?
    Have I got that right?
    Cheers

  • Can I use my old MAC MINI as a hard drive, or do I need to transfer all the data to a new Mini?

I would like to get the new MAC MINI, but I was wondering whether I could somehow just keep my old mac mini as a storage drive and continue to use its DVD drive since the new mini doesn't have one.  Has anyone out there done this?  If not, what is the best way to transfer data from one mini to another?

  • HT2433 I purchased an external CD drive because the internal one died.  When I try using the new drive I get the following msg "The attempt to burn a disc failed.  The device is not accessable, probably because it was removed"

I purchased an external CD drive for my MacBook, the internaldrive had died.  When I tried using the new drive I got the following msg "The attempt to burn a disc failed.  The device is not accessable, probably because it was removed"  I contacted OWC and tried to work the issue with them, we gave up and OWC sent me a replacement.  I connected the replacement and am getting the same message.  Any thoughts?

Try resetting the SMC and PRAM first, if that doesn't help try a cleaning disc.....and then buy an inexpensive external burner. Slimline super drive failures are all too common.
    To reset the SMC
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Need help getting ALL iTunes from old comp hard drive

Old computer XP Home died after house was hit by lightning. Surge protector gave it's life but not enough to save the day. However both hard drives from old computer are fine and function via connection of USB external hard drive enclosure.
New computer is Vista Home Premium on AMD64duo w/4G RAM and 500GB hard drive.
Connected old hard drives to USB and can see everything. Did Import Folder and copied most files from old iTunes Music directory. (I say most files because iTunes continues to crash after approx 10 minutes of this copy process. On 17th try now.)
Can see and play the music that got copied but artwork is gone. Playlists are gone. Ratings gone. Basically all the preferences of how I had the old iTunes setup.
Needing help in understanding how to get Artwork and anything else I can from the old iTunes.
Have not tried to plug in iPod yet. Will wait atm.
First old drive had Program files and Second old drive had all Data files.

First, I followed the instructions on this site for Backing up itunes library by copying to a external hard drive.........
That's what it does. It makes a backup copy of the iTunes folder. iTunes will not use that folder or do anything to that folder.
All that succeeding in doing was mirroring whatever I did on the C:/ drive on the E:/ drive i.e. if I deleted itunes from the C:/ drive it disappeared from the E:/ drive.
Do you mean after you followed the instructions and copied \Music\iTunes folder to the external drive and then deleted something from iTunes, it deleted it from the external drive also?
As above, iTunes will not use or do anything to that folder.
Next, I followed these instructions for Moving the itunes media folder to the external drive.
Why? You already copied the entire iTunes folder (including th emedia folder) to the external drive.
    Hold Shift and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the _iTunes library.itl_ file in the iTunes folder on the external.
This too didn't help as the media folder is not the problem, its the library as its 735kb!
What do you mean "the library"?
735kB is small for the iTunes library.itl file and a single file in iTunes is larger than that.
Am I right in thinking there's no way of moving the library to the external drive whilst wiping it from the C;/ drive?
Yes. Follow my intruction above (Choose library) and iTunes will use the iTunes folder on the external.
You can then delete \Music\iTunes on the C: drive.
