I removed the ObjectModel.dll to recreate it and got the same error. Completed a clean with the CS cleanup tool and downloaded/installed a fresh copy. Tested, same issue. Created new file, same issue.

You appear to be losing the network connection to your file. I think we're seeing a fair amount of this error, but I don't know a fix other than working locally. ID seems more sensitive than other apps in this regard.

  • Incompatible with Adobe InDesign (Error code: 14)

    Hi all,
    I've been having major problems with InDesign CS3 and OS 10.5. It always crashes when I try to Place, Export, Save As, anything that requires it to navigate the finder.
    Now, while trying to export to PDF, the document froze. So I had to force quit it. Now ANY InDesign file I try to open gives me the error message:
    The file "file name" is incompatible with Adobe InDesign (Error code: 14).
    Has anyone experienced this? I'm now stuck as I cannot open anything to get some work done.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi all
    I have the excat same problem. Indesign CS5 and also my CS4 comes op with the error code 14.
    It qrashes before I get into the program, also when I open it throug the program Icon and not the file.
    I have tried:
    Restarting
    Shot down and take out the power cord for severeal minutes
    Deleting the preference files "Defaults" and "SavedData" manualy
    Deleting the file "InfoPlist.Strings" in folder "itlproj" which was a folder that keept showing on restart. (it was a italian languae to a dropdown shadow throug Flash CS5)
    Remove indesign CS5 and CS4 (with the program uninstall icon) and reinstalled it
    I have no clue to what more I can do. Think it could be a system fault. I have the following:
    Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
    Dual core Intel Xeron
    Snow leopard
    It just suddenly didnt work. Couldnt copy paste text from a mail into a file in Indesign and then it just crashed. Havent installed any new updates or programs so it is very weird.
    Any help would be very much appriciated

  • Adobe Illustrator and InDesign Error code 16 - Help!!!!

    I installed Adobe Illustrator and InDesign on Windows 8.1. They worked great until I closed the programs and tried to open them up again. I now get the error code 16. I re-installed several times now and each time I close either one of the programs and reopen, I get the same error code 16. I've done a clean uninstall and re-install and I've followed the procedures about ensuring that file permissions were correct. No luck.

  • CS4 InDesign Error Code 5 - PLEASE HELP (!)

    Hi, please please if any of you have suggestions to solve this problem or ANYTHING, please lend me a hand!
    I tried to contact suppose-to-be open 24/7 customer service but on the phone the automated female voice tells you it is actually Mon-Friday. LOL.
    OK, here is my problem.
    My computer had to be rebooted yesterday morning, nothing unusual as it often happens.
    Rebooted my Mac and tried uploading few InDesign files later on in the day.
    Other files that were on before rebooting restored themselves but then an Error message came up with one file,
    "Cannot open "file name.indd".
    The file "file name.indd" is damaged and cannot be recovered (Error code 5)"
    I am one of those Ctrl+S freaks so my work was saved before the reboot.
    If the problem is within the restoring file system then why are all the other files safe and sound?
    After intense googling on the matter, I suspect that it might be the size of the file.
    I read a few cases where cos the file was too big, they had the same Error code 5 and lost them.
    127.5MB is the size of the file but there have been no warnings previously nor was I informed that the size would cause a FATAL problem like this.
    Anyway I tried out about all of the potential solutions given on Google.
    -Quit and restarted InDesign.
    -Rebooted Mac.
    -Moved the file in to a portable hard drive and  tried opening from there.
    -Opened from other programs such as Photoshop etc.
    -Created a new computer account and re-installed InDesign.
    -Deleted and recreated InDesign Preference.
    -Tried it the next day.
    PLEASE help me...
    That file happened to be THE MOST IMPORTANT one out of them all.
    I spent few weeks working on that with hardly any rest or sleep.
    The deadline is too close for comforts....please help.

    Copy + Paste or Dragging them on to the page.
    Does this make the file size too big to handle cos of all the links?
    If so, why has it happened now?
    Why has it not happened instantly or gave me a warning about the file size?
    Thank you for the feedback, I really apprecaite it.
    Even though it may mean my file's lost forever at least I know better now. Thanks.
    There are no links when you copy/paste. When you say drag, do you mean from Bridge or Finder/Explorer, or from Photshop? Dragging from Photoshop is the same as copy/paste. All you get is low-res screen preview embedded in the document.
    I suspect this doc may be as large as it is because it hase a lot of useless change information in it. ID save all the change info each time you hit save. When the doc is closed, that information is still retained, but is no longer usable. To reduce file size you should do a "Save As."
    Have you tried deleting the recovery information and opeing the file from the menu? I don't think it will help, but it might.

    (Error Code: A12E1). For troubleshooting tips..."
    So of course I'm like what. How. And I redownload the trial and I keep getting the same message.

  • Trouble with CS6 Trial, Error codes #4960 and #102

    Having trouble w CS6 trial, first #4960, now #102. I have been trying to install CS6 Master Suite trial and had to pause installation when I had to leave studio for home. When I got home, resumed installation and it took a while, but everything seemed to be fine until I got an error code #4960. I submitted a question earlier and finally managed to throw away folder where program had been stored, threw away all .dmg files in downloads folder, threw away ADA program in applications folder, cleared browser cookies, restarted computer and now i am getting error code #102 (which the trouble shooting says indicates not enough space for file, but this is a brand new macbook pro). I also tried downloading each program file seperately (photoshop, premier, illustrator, etc.) and my computer tries to open the file from the corrupted folder (which i'm certain i tossed). please, someone help!!!

    This error ususally comes up if the extraction of files was interrupted or the installer package is incomplete or corrupted.
    Try downloading it again and check.

  • Why am I getting InDesign error code 29446?

    Hello,
    I am using InDesign Server CS5 and on two file I keep getting error code #29446 when I try to use them.
    this is the script that I get error #29446:
    var strXMLFile = 'D:\\mssb\\incoming\\34695.xml';
    var strINDDFile = '\\\\167.246.44.76\\MSSB\\templates\\RET010\\6256950-MSSB-RET010-BW-6 x9.indt';
    var strJPGFile = 'D:\\mssb\\outgoing\\34695.jpg';
    var strPDFFile = 'D:\\mssb\\outgoing\\34695.pdf';
    var myFile = new File(strINDDFile);
    var myDocument = app.open(myFile);
    var myXMLFile = new File(strXMLFile);
    var myXmlImport = myDocument.xmlImportPreferences;
    myXmlImport.importStyle = 1481469289;
    myXmlImport.ignoreUnmatchedIncoming = true;
    myXmlImport.importTextIntoTables = true;
    myXmlImport.removeUnmatchedExisting = true;
    myDocument.importXML(myXMLFile);
    myDocument.exportFile(ExportFormat.jpg, new File(strJPGFile));
    myDocument.exportFile(ExportFormat.pdfType, new File(strPDFFile));
    myDocument.close();
    I have approximately 200 other InDesign documents that use this script and for the exception of two they all work. I can confirm that this file does exist, it is not being used by any other application (the only application that can access it and use it on that machine is InDesign Server) and the permissions are the same as all the other InDesign files that are on the box.
    What else could generate this error?
    -fw

    The error number is for the internal C++ constant named "kFileDoesNotExistError".
    You should be able to single step even on InDesign Server using ExtendScript Toolkit.
    Even without, a bit of log file output should show you the exact problem statement.
    When you wrap it with try / catch, you may (or not) find more information in the exception object.
    Iterate over all properties using something like code below.
    Of course, $.writeln only makes sense with an attached ESTK debugger, otherwise you'll just waste CPU cycles.
    try {
    } catch( ex ) {
      for( n in ex ) { $.writeln(ex[n]); }
    Note that the problem might not be in the indd file - e.g. have you checked all image href attributes within the XML?
    For digging deeper:
    On a Mac I'd use dtrace or Instruments to watch file system calls for error codes.
    Windows should have similar tools, for example this one sounds promising (I never used it):

  • CS6 InDesign error on 3 different PC's

    I have 3 different PC's for 3 different users and all are having InDesign errors. I understand that Adobe does not offer post-buy support and thus need a support contract to resolve these issues. Insofar I have received a quote of $36 per support incident but further questions as to what other options for extended support exist have resulted in all my phone calls being disconnected or hung up on by Adobe support personnel. What support options does Adobe offer and who do I need to call to get this information?

    First of all I would suggest that you pop over to the InDesign forum and post details on what these errors. It might be something we can address there.

    When trying to update the Adobe Illustrator application within the Adobe Updater, I get this error message. Anyone have else this issue? Furthermore, how did you fix this?
    Thanks!

    There are several reports of users facing difficulties applying the updates.  Which operating system are you using?  For your first step I would recommend reviewing your installation logs to determine the point of failure.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret your installation logs at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.

  • InDesign CS5 Error Code 5

    Hi everyone,
    I know this has been discussed before, yet I cannot find an up to date discussion. Firstly my 2.8 mb file wouldn't open this mornign due to the above error code. There are three questions I have:
    1. Why did this happen?
    2. How do I avoid this from happening again?
    3. Is there a fix for this yet?
    I am a publisher and use indesign for all our published works. Generally we back up frequently with different names. Sofar we have not encountered this problem before. This time it is on a document which only had about one hour worth of work in it, still it is annoying.
    Sandra

    I don't believe anyone can tell you precisely why this happened to you -- too many variables -- so it would be equally impossible to tell you how to prevent it beyond the normal good work habits stuff: Save as to remove old and useless change info on a regular basis, don't use fonts of questionalble quality or origin, try to avoid .eps if you have another choice, and of course back up regularly.
    I found an old thread from last year in which Eugene Tyson and I both searched our archives and reported several thousands of files, and neither one of us remembers ever having more than one or two files fail, and none specifically with error code 5. ID is VERY reliable, even under circustances that will bring down many other programs, so if you are seeing this with any sort of frequency (like more than once in three years), I'd duspect you have a problem on your system, possibly hardware, possibly a font, or possibly your electical supply is spiking or something froom time to time and you're unprotected.
    A google search for indesign error code 5 brings up a lot of discussion, some of which you might find useful, bu tthe bottoom line is probably once a file hits the level of damage that will generate an error cod 5 failure it's pretty much toast. Your best bet in such a case is the Markzware solution (run back and forth through Quark using ID2Q and Q2ID). If you don't have Quark and the plugins, Markzware will attempt recovery for you with a no results no charge policy. last I knew the fee for success was about $200. Fix Your Bad InDesign Files!

  • Documentation again! Error codes. Anybody? 2111

    Hi,
    So, I have a server-side script error InDesign 2111 to resolve... Only I can't find _anywhere_ that lists InDesign error codes or their meanings.
    I am _certain_ there is a very useful document out there somewhere, but it is opaque to google...
    Please can somebody point me in the right direction?
    Thanks,
    G

    For further analysis, write the properties of the error object to your log file / ESTK console / whatever.
    E.g.
    try { ...} catch( ex ) { for( n in ex ) $.writeln(n,"=",ex[n] ); }
    Could it be that this is an error by the OS or any other subsystem (database, other connectivity) ?
    Assuming an InDesign Error ID, those are allocated in the ID space of plugins. The same plugin should also provide a matching string and may even fill in placeholders in that string - as delivered in the alert or the one of the properties of the exception. That's the theory.
    If you have the plugin SDK, you'd search for the 63th error in the header file for prefix 8, because 8*256+63=2111. That would be the file LayoutID.h . Unfortunately that file does not provide any error ID at all, and when I force that error myself there is also no string provided. I did not try InDesign Server, though.
    Another place to look is the server's system output, which is separate from script accessible areas. Ask your admins to watch out for system log entries, and/or configure the server startup so that stderr output ends up in a file. On OSX refer to the man page for launchd, especially StandardErrorPath.
    If you're lucky and have deployed on a Mac, make yourself familiar with dtrace or the Instruments application. There you can watch out for system calls that produce any error code, search for the 2111 and try to make sense from stack frames. On Windows, the SysInternals program may have similar tools.
