CS6 interface to white?

Does anyone know of a way to make CS6's interface white? The slider in the preferences goes from "black" to "pale grey"; I've been using Illustrator since 2000 or so and am kinda used to the white.
Any and all ways are welcome, from setting secret preferences up to and including hacking the files. Because man I am liking what the performance improvements do to heavy operations like distorting a pattern fill but this grey UI is maddeningly low-contrast.

This is what CS6 calls "light".
This is what CS5 calls "light".
See the difference? With a bunch of palettes filling the right of the screen (I hate collapsing them), there's just this huge mass of tiny, low-contrast text. (And switching to a black UI isn't an option; going between the white artboard and the black UI is painful.)
I tried hacking the prefs file and changing /uiBrightness from 1.0 to 1.5, but CS6 obstinately remained about as dark as the next setting down from "light" on CS5.

  • Graphic Noise in Dreamweaver CS6 Interface

I've got this weird graphic noise issue that appears quite often in Dreamweaver CS6. Anyone else have this issue, or know a fix for it? Doesn't effect functionality, but its quite annoying considering I paid so much for the software.

Does it happen only in the area you have shown in screenshot for DW Interface or is it in any of the Panels as well?
This issue also randomly scrambles images that are in the Split and Design views.

  • Photoshop CS6 Help Required -  Whites are slightly cream

This is the first time I have posted a question on this forum.  If I am in the wrong place please accept my apoligies. Thanks.
I have a problem which I have spent days and days trying to solve but without success, I sincerely hope someone can help me.
I am using Photoshop CS6 (Version 13.0.6 x64) on a 27”iMac running  OS X Mavericks (Version 10.9.1).  My printer is an Epson 3800  (Driver Version 9.17).  I am using Epson inks on Epson paper and my screen is correctly calibrated.
I have had the printer for a number of years and its prints are normally excellent. However the following problem has recently occurred and I am not sure what has caused it; but when I print the whites are not pure and are slightly cream.
If I print letting ‘Photoshop Manages Colours’ (which I have always done) and using an original Epson profile for Semigloss paper I get this problem.  To be precise when I print a test Grey Scale my 5% and 0% (white end of spectrum) are both the same cream colour and the 100% and 95% (black end of spectrum are also the same shade of black).  The profile numbers on the original image on screen reads for the white end 242 and 255 (5% and 0%) and for the black end 0 and 12 (100% and 95%).  I have concluded that there is no problem with the image or my screen, as I have mentioned it is correctly calibrated and you can see the difference in all the tones from 100% to 0%.
When I print letting ‘Printer Manages Colours’ though I do not get this problem at all, although obviously the colour balance is not excellent compared to using the proper paper profiles.  I have therefore concluded that there is no problem with my printer.  It must then be either a profile issue or a software issue.
However I get exactly the same problem if I print on Epson Glossy paper using the appropriate original Epson profile and ‘Photoshop Manages Colours’.  I have therefore concluded that it is not a profile issue and it must be a Photoshop issue, unless all the Epson profiles are corrupted which I think is most unlikely.
I appreciate that my logic may be completely wrong and that is why I am posting my plea for help.
Somewhere deep in Photoshop there must be a way to solve this problem.  Can you offer any advice or assistance?

Either you aren't selecting the correct profile for the paper and printer, or something is going wrong in the printer driver and it applies color corrections when it should not.
Double check your choice of color profile - if that isn't it, then contact Epson and see if they have updates to fix their driver.

  • Stop full-screen windows in DW CS6 interface.

My preference for using DW is to have code view, site files & that's it. I really dont need any other feature.
I have turned off the Application frame in DW CS6 & saved my workspace preference as code & site only.
However whenever I open a file, it always insists on making the code window full screen - thats rather annoying because the reason to turn off apllication frame is so you can see the desktop & other open files - but this just covers everything over again.
Is there a way for DW to remember your prefered window size?

I agree, this is incredibly annoying, the application frame is the only way to control the size of the window, but you cannot "see through the cracks" to other open windows. Some of us actually do real work with your programs, which usually involve keeping multiple windows open at the same time, your insistence on opening windows full screen with no work around (no scripting programs, such as Quickeys or Keyboard Maestro can control your window sizes, either). If you "play" at development you can focus only using only one program at a time, but I have to follow wireframes and insert Word copy hundreds of times a day, and everytime you force me into several unnecessary steps with your fantastic new interface philosophy. PLEASE fix this. Either open up your Window schema so scripting programs have access to changing your window sizes, allow the user to define what size windows open at (or make it Workspace preference), or make the application frames transparent and allow us to click through the frame to other programs. PLEASE.

  • Bridge CS6 interface

First of "I LOVE" the new Photoshop interface, but what about Bridge it's still the same nasty looking app, with the awfull gradients and the nasty looking fonts. This is nothing new off-course but with CS6 it is more apparent than ever. The overall design is fine it's just the borders, tabs look and buttons that pull it down. Please give Bridge some UI love.

    Hi,
Is this happening with Mini bridge or bridge or with both ?
In either case, try this :
    1. restart machine
    2 launch bridge directly
If its launched then try to close and then launch PS CS 6 and then try to launch Bridge from there.
Hope it helps !! As we would need more details for this issue.
    Thanks,
    Baljeet

  • After Effects CS6 interface very slow and causing weird things happening

    Hi all,
Since upgrading from AE CS3 to CS6, I noticed that the interface is much slower in CS6 than in CS3.
Specifically, when working in the timeline window, like renaming layers, or even just clicking just a layer, it takes up to multiple seconds before the action is actually applied.
When I move my mouse within that delay period, unexpected results happen, eg accidently a layer is moved up or down.
It seems that AE still thinks I hold and drag something, while that's not the case.
Or that the mouse down - mouse up registration is delayed, AE thinks I'm still holding the left mouse button. Not very good.
Very frustrating because at first I didn't even notice a layer was moved. When going back to CS3 it's a relief to work with.
Note that I'm not talking about render times of the preview, I know when to wait.
But I expect the interface to respond within reasonable times. Clicking a layer should actually highlight it within less than a second, not multiple seconds.

Hi Dave and Mylenium, here's more info:
I updated AE to 11.0.2.11 (that fixed the "Need 2 frames or more for ram playback" but not the UI response time)
I work on an iMac with OSX 10.6.8, 3Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB ram, and an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
In the current case, I work in a comp with about 40 shape layers, 2 tiff sequence layers (stored on the SSD), and a few PSD files. Resolution 1080p
I turned off multiprocessing, enabled disk cache
    Time to throw it out?
Is the 2012 iMac line up to the task (Nvidia Geforce GTX 660M / 675MX, Intel Quadcore i5 2.7-3.2Ghz - not fantastic right)?
Switch to PC to get real power?

  • After Effects CS6 Interface Super Sluggish in Windows and not in OS X!?

I am switching from an "old" 2007 Mac Pro to a new custom built Win 7 64bit PC. Just starting to do work tests and noticed that the interface in AE CS6 on the new Windows machine is super sluggish. Mainly the Layer window when your scrolling through a heavy comp with tons of layers is super sluggish. Just scrolling up and down not scrubbing. Same project on the old Mac does not have this problem and the scrolling of the layers window is super smooth!? What is causing this? I even have the Hardware Accellerate mode on for the interface. Any help would be greatly appreciated because this will be an awful way to work if this is the state of AE on Windows. Thanks.

    I'm having the same problem.
Interface is just pure sluggishness, on a brand new machine that rocks. Rendering is fast, but opening a comp with more than just "some" layers and a lot keyframes gets unusable. Just dragging a box to select keyframes for example is extremely sluggish.
Opened the same comp in CS5.5 and CS5 and it worked totally fine.
Any news on this? I'm more frusted with CS6 than with any other AE version until now.
My cache is set to 60GB on a new 830 series SSD from Samsung.

  • Illustrator CS6 to CS4: White lines along edges of semi-transparent gradient meshes

    Hi,
I recently invested in CS6 Production Premium and I've just tested legacy support by saving an Illustrator CS6 image in CS4 format.
The image contains a number of semi-transparent gradient meshes used for highlights.
Having loaded the saved CS4 .ai file in CS6, white lines appear along my semi-transparent gradient meshes (see the attached screenshot).
What's happening is that the anchor points with 0% opacity in CS6 suddenly have 100% opacity when I load the saved CS4 files in CS6.
    Is this a known error?
If so, how/where do I report it?
Here are the relevant CS6 and CS4 files:
    http://snk.to/f-chcig8s9
P.S. There are no white lines when I save the image in CS5 format and load it in CS6.

The image contains a number of semi-transparent gradient meshes used for highlights.
CS4 doesn't support semi-transparent gradient meshes. So they are simulated by using opacity masks. The masks are generated atuomatically from the meshes in the file, so they have the exact same size, which causes the fringes. If you would create this manually, you would make the opacity mask slightly larger in order to avoid fringes.

  • When i save files using CS6 files go white

When I save files using CS6 and try to view them in other program (i.e. iPhoto, etc) the files show as a white box with no image. I'm using a Macbook Pro with Yosemite.

Most likely you have "maximize compatibility" off, and are using applications that can only read the composite image (which requires maximize compatibility ON).

  • When using adobe photoshop cs6 screen turns white and locks up, have to logoff and log back on

Can't find an updated video driver, or cs6 update to fix this.

I think that I'm having the same issue.  I've downloaded the updated java that you suggested.  this is what I'm getting....I'm not sure what to do.  then once I close them all out if I try to open anything that has already been edited as final jpg files its the same thing.

  • CS6 Interface is unresponsive and really slow when using lots of layers on OSX 10.8

I have a simple project, using lots of layers, but no effects. It takes more than a minute for the project to open, after which the interface becomes slow and unresponsive and doing anything in general is a pain.
I've tried changing settings relating to multi-processing. Currently I have 1.5 GB assigned to each core and it tells me it can use 7 cores as a result. I've assigned 13 out of the 16GB or RAM I have for after effects. Caching is also enabled.
The only thing I can think of is I can't enable the GPU for rendering as I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512M of VRAM. Is this the problem, or is there something else I can try/do differently?

MP is not going to help. Reset your preferences to the defaults. Make sure AE is up to date. There have been several bug fixes. Give that a try. If it's still slow please tell us what you are using as footage and give us some details about the size of your comp. Some footage is harder to interpret than other. One last question, what is lot's of layers? 15, 150, 1500?

  • Photoshop CS6 interface and canvas buggy after upgrading to 10.8 on Retina MBP

An image says more than 1000 words.. In case you can't notice, the lower part of the layer panel isn't appearing, so I can't create new layers, etc.

One final point to note, Mail won't let me import them as .mbox files. I have to start by trying to import .mbox files, but then it says 'error' when I select the appropriately named mbox folder. I then have to select Apple Mail instead and the navigation dialogue brings up the same list of sub-folders, but I simply select the sub-folders I want to import without navigating away from that list item, then it works OK. If I were to navigate away from that list item which displays sub-folders, it would be replaced with a big icon of a mailbox instead and would remove the ability for me to import the sub-folders. Were I to click on the icon and try to import, it wouldn't import.
In effect, I'm having to fool Mail into allowing me to see the contents of a .mbox folder then changing to importing Apple Mail in order to select the sub-folders.
A bit weird but the only work around. POssibly because they are already V2 folders?
