CS6 Mask panel problem revisited with screen capture

Figured a screen shot would help. When I open the Mask panel, it takes up the entire screen width and the Looks controls disappear, Also, there is a new panel below the Mask panel that seems to have no purpose that I can find. The documentation says "Mask and Look panels - The Mask panel is now placed next to the Look panel. WIth the masking and grading tools placed side-by-side, you can now work faster on the mask workflow."
I thought maybe my screen resolution was not high enough, but I checked and it exceeds the minimum requirements.
Can't figure out that bottom panel for anything. The little - sign to the right of the panel tab pulls up a tree of the entire computer, but I can't get any folder to display anything in the panel. Also, I can add more tabs with the + sign.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?

Stratosphere- Problem with Screen Capture and Group Text Reply

I have a problem with the side button that locks/unlocks the phone. I don't know why it happens but sometimes when I press the side button to lock the phone it takes a screen shot and send its to my Gallery under the folder ScreenCapture. I can't figure out why it does this sometimes, and when i want to actually take a screen shot I cant.
Anyone know how exactly you can take a screen shot?
Another question i have is with Group Texts. Is there a way to reply all when I receive a text that was sent to multiple people or can I only reply to the sender?

Hello kfeatherstone! I can provide you with instructions for taking a screenshot:
1. Press both the Power and Home buttons briefly.
2. You should hear a “click” sound and the screen will say “Screen captured. Saved as image file
In regards to your messaging, "reply to all" is not an available option. I hope this information helps!

Problem with screen capture

The first problem is I successfully captured a video from my DV camera, but when I put the second tape in to continue, it can't find the camera again. I've re-booted but nothing worked.
Any suggestions?

DVD builds with screen captures from Camtasia Studio

I cannot get quality DVD builds from Encore when the avi input is from Camtasia Studio.
From Camtasia, I export to full uncompressed avi. The DVDs come out blurry or twitching or both. I have tried the avi files in Premiere with the same results. This file does not seem usable by Encore or by Premiere. I also tried exporting to mp4. I have tried different aspect ratios and frame rates.
Any help is appreciated.

Then as I said earlier, it's likely that you are running into problems with scaling and interlacing/deinterlacing the footage. Investigate the frame size of your source screen captures as compared to the frame size of your Camtasia export and as compared to the DVD frame size of 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL). Investigate whether you interlaced the footage on export from Camtasia or on import into En or Pr. Screen caps are always progressive. Also pay attention to your frame rates; encoders that output legal DVD video handle 29.97 fps, 25 fps and 23.976 fps differently.

Working with Screen Capture Footage in FCP

I purchased Snapz Pro X to record screen capture footage for a project I am doing. After recording the .mov files I imported them into FCP and edited together a sequence along with music and titling. Unfortunately in the output video the footage looks compressed and fuzzy. I have the project resolution set to an HD setting, but I'm still getting a fuzzy looking screen shot.
What is the proper way to import screen captures into FCP and how do I export them without loosing resolution.

When you saved your SnapZ Pro X movies, a window comes up allowing you to choose the video codec to use when saving the file. What settings did you use?

Difficulty with screen capture iphone 5s

I am using IOS 7 and iPhone 5s and Evernote.
Screen Capture works poorly or not at all.
Does not work at all if a message is open on a screen or if input is needed.
Any workaround?

Plug the device into a wall outlet for at least 20 minutes.
Attempt to reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears, about 15-20 seconds.
If the device still will not power on, take it to Apple for evaluation.

Audio sync problem with screen capture/gameplay video from Bandicam, converted by Freemake.

I recently purchased the student discount for Adobe creative cloud which gave me access to Premiere Pro CC which I've been using to edit my YouTube videos.
I use a popular recording software called Bandicam to record my PC gameplay. Bandicam like many other software's allows me to record my commentary OVER the gameplay. When I play back the recorded video in windows media viewer the audio and gameplay are in complete synchronization. I then use Freemake Video Compressor to convert the recorded gameplay from an AVI file to an MP4 file. Then I import that file into the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro. When I play back the video during editing, the audio and video appears out of sync by about five seconds.
Like I said, I don't record my gameplay and audio separately like some other people, so it can't possibly be an editing mistake. I've tried dozens of different editing software's (all free crappy ones) and everything is fine. This issue only occurs with Adobe Premiere Pro. I have installed the latest update of the program and have just recently tried re-installing it as well. Nothing seems to work for me, or for the many, many people who I have seen in random forums all over the net with this same problem. It appears to be an issue that isn't only happening to me.
Due to this issue, I'm very behind in my YouTube schedule. Apologies if this is rather long, I just want to get what I paid for.

Premiere cannot handle clips with variable framerate.
Your converted clips need to have constant framerate.
Otherwise use a converter like Handbrake.

Problem scanning with Image Capture

I have an Epson Photo NX110 all-in-one printer and scanner. I use the Image Capture software that comes with Snow Leopard to scan in photos using my printer's scanner. I have scanned lots of old photos using this set up and it has worked fine. About half an hour ago, I scanned in three photos and it worked fine. These are all 35mm 4 inch by 6 inch color photos.
I am now trying to scan in another old photo, but the height and width of the photo keep being set to zero by Image Capture. As a result, the scanned TIFF file ends up being a blank image. I am using the default settings and the same work flow I have used before, but this particular photo of a relative holding her baby won't seem to scan in properly, even though it looks fine in the overview on the screen. I am using the default 300 dpi setting. This is just a photo of a woman sitting at her dining room table holding her baby in a fairly well lighted room. There is nothing out of the ordinary about this photo as far as its lighting or composition and the photo is in great condition. I tried moving the photo to a different location on the scanner surface, but the result was the same.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem, please let me know.

I spend my summers scanning old photographs and letters, and this happens to me, too. Sometimes a photo refuses to scan properly. No idea why.
I don't know what made me think to try this, or why it works, but if the photo is less than 8 1/2 x 11, set the photo on the glass as usual, then lay a piece of paper on top of the photo on the glass. Printed paper seems to work better, so I usually use a draft page from a newsletter, or some such. Place this paper printed-side down, so the scanner will be copying the printed stuff. Scan as usual, and when it offers you the chance to crop the image, crop out the paper, keeping only the photo.
Like I said, I don't know why this works, but in most cases, it does. I hope this helps! I know very well how aggravating it is to not be able to scan a perfectly ordinary photograph or letter.

Photoshop CS6 Swatches Panel Problem

I appologize if this or a similar question has been answered previously, but after some searching I haven't been able to find a solution to my issue. So I run PS CS6 with the default swatches working in the painting workspace on WIndows 7. The swatches usually looked like this:
However when I opened my file to work on today the panel suddenly looked as follows:
I am not sure how or why this changed happened, I didn't make any changes to my preferences at all. Yesterday when I had the file open the swatches were as above and today they look like the second image. I tried resetting the swatches to default replacing the current panel, but it just resets to this order. I have even deleted the swatches.psp file in users/appdata/roaming/adobe/etc... and photoshop still opens to this order of colors. I've even gone as far as resetting all photoshop preferences to no avail. I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it back to the way it was originally. It's not a huge deal but I find it extremely annoying as I've gotten used to working with the default swatches panel order.
So if anyone knows how I can reset my swatches panel so they look as they originally did above I would be extremely grateful.

Nothing really changed other than the width of the swatches palette because it is grouped with other palettes that are wider than it's minimum size. All the colors are still there, in the same order.

Best way to deal with screen captures?

I have a lot of images captured with Snagit (computer screens). They are going to be printed in black and white.
Usually I do like this: open png file in Photoshop, select Mode to transform in grayscale and save as PSD.
Generally I obtain reasonably good results in the printed books (CMYK and B&W). [If I have to scale the image I usually do that in Photoshop, but if the budget is tight I do the scaling in Indesign.] I admit that I am not a very good «Photoshoper» and I notice that under Image -> Adjustements there is a command to transform images to B&W.
I have played a bit with this two options and I have concluded that the the resulting grayscales files obtained with this different metodes are a bit different.
Can anyone advise me about the best method to use and about the best way to do this kind of convertions in Photoshop. I am on Windows using CS 5.5

I am very happy to descover that the consensus about scaling is to do that in Indesign. That is faster and as Scott pointed it saves me the trouble of keeping to sets of files (one original size and other scaled). The method Peter uses is very smart and I will use it on my workflow (at least for the books with higher budgets bacause it implies more work).
This forum rocks and is really a life saver for everybody...

PS. Do you know what I have discovered last night. I placed a Word file in Indesign (around 120 A4 pages full of text, 60 graphics and 850 Mathtype equations) and Indesign started to work very slowly. For exemple: editing the text took a long time (1 or 2 seconds inser a character)... I work a lot with complex Math books so I am a bit used with Indesign being slow in this kind of work. But yesterday it was too much. See what I have descovered: the word file had hundreds of crossed references and half a douzen of hyperlinks. As soon as I deleted all that stuff and amade a Save As, Indesign started to behave normally.

Will Adobe CS6 work on a laptop with screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels?

I'm looking at this laptop -
HP ProBook 15.6-Inch Laptop 2.1 GHz AMD A8-5550M Processor, 8GB DDR3L, 500GB HDD, Windows 7 Professional and a 7200 RPM drive.
All the specs are great except for the screen resolution, which Adobe says should be 1280X900. So I would love to know if CS6 would still work on this laptop.

Not only is the screen resolution below minimum requirements, the rest is also very underpowered and slow for CS6.
If CS6 installs, you will not be able to see critical parts of the user interface, making you work in the blind.

Captivate 7 preloader not working - with screen captures for clarity

Hi Community,
so I'm working in the Captivate 7 trial version, because the preloader for Captivate 6 isn't working for me. We have a ~48MB project with mp3's on almost every slide, flash videos, flash animations, quizzes and plenty of jpegs.
Before we publish the project we make sure we click everything that's needed, but because it's still not working I took screen shots of all the settings. Maybe I'm missing something, I would appreciate your help.

I'm assuming here that your preloader animation is at least appearing when you are loading the file so that you KNOW it IS working.
Try setting your preloader progressively higher until you find the percentage at which the load times start INCREASING again. If you have a lot of videos in your project, setting the preloader at a very low value like 10% doesn't necessarily affect the load times that much because Captivate still has to load a certain amount of the total number of assets before it can start to play anyway. It could be that you have a whopping great event video right near the start of the project and that's what is causing the lengthy delay.
If your issue is still with the preloaders NOT appearing at all, then the only settings that would affect this are the ones on the Preferences > Project > Start and End > Preloader path and percentage. The path looks to be fine, but if preloader animations are not visible at all, try changing to a different preloader. Maybe only SOME of them work. The Default.swf preloader is usually reliable.

Quick Time screen capture freezes when i'm working with Modo 3D. Any solution?

Hi guys, When I'm working with Luxology Modo, Quick Time screen capture freezes every time on Mac OS X Mavericks. When I'm doing some operation in Modo, like slice geometry per exemple, QuickTime crashes. I must force quit quicktime and when I relauch the application, the screen capture opens but screen capture ends at the time when I cliked on the Modo slice operation. It's frustrating because I can't do nothing with screen capture. I tried other screen capture applications but the problem persists! When I was using Snow Leopard Quick Time works very well!! Do you have some resolution for this problem? Regards, César.

I'm using OS X Mavericks as well, and it seems like the same thing happens when I try to type in MonoDevelop, part of the Unity package. Unity works fine, it only seems as though I can't screen record typing in MonoDevelop. It looks like it's still recording, it just has the rainbow wheel of death after I try to finish out the Quicktime. I left it up for several days and ignored it, but it still didn't finish. I finally had to force quit it and reopen it and when I did it opened up the temporary file of the video I was recording, but it stopped whenever I started to type into the MonoDevelop interface. The first time it let me save the video to the desktop. The second time, the time which I left it open for days, it would not let me save it, on command-S or on exit. I don't know exactly what's wrong, but I believe that you know as much as I do. Please post a reply if you need any more information or have a fix.

Problem recording sound during screen capture

Hi
I'm having a problem when recording screen captures in Windows XP SP3 in Boot Camp.
There is almost no sound. There is a very low sound level being picked up from the microphone.
The screen capture software I'm using is Capture Solution by SProsoft. I get the same result when using Windows Media Encoder, so I don't think it is a problem with the capturing program.
There is no problem with Windows XP making the sounds as I use it. It is just that I cannot record those sounds.

Hi ya I solved it..... I brought it back to the shop I got my phone in and they gave me a brand new one.
I had it for 11 months when I returned it and it was still covered by warranty hope this helps :)
