CS6 messing up brush strokes.

I'm running Photoshop CS6 on my 64 bit Windows 8 computer and since I got it it has been messing up my brush strokes. I use a Genius tablet, though I don't know what model. It always messes up in Photoshop but never in other programs like Paint Tool SAI. However, I don't like SAI very much anymore and I want to be able to use Photoshop. I tried resetting my tools and it didn't help the problem. I haven't tried to see what the brushes do with a mouse because I don't use that to draw. Here is what it's doing:
I really don't understand why it is doing this or anything and I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.

Fixed it! I just had to download the newest version of my tablet software

  • Enabling GPU in CS6 slows down brush strokes

Hello, I'm currently using Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended and I am experiencing a performance issue with the brush tool when the GPU option is enabled in the performance preferences.
When the GPU option is disabled I am able to draw lines and marks very quickly with all of the default brush tools available.  Even when options such as scattering and dual brush are turned on simultaneously the brush strokes are rendered so quickly on the canvas it feels instantaneous.  This is great for me because I use Photoshop and other programs for digital drawing and painting.
However with the GPU disabled I am unable to use functions such as canvas rotation, flick panning, scrubby zoom and so on - features that I find incredibly useful.  Also at different zoom levels images become highly pixelated and smooth lines appear very jagged.  This obviously makes images very difficult to work with!
As soon as I turn on the GPU option, even at the most basic setting the brush tool renders much slower across the canvas than when it was turned off.  However other operations such as zooming, flick panning, saving etc appear to be very fast.
This is quite confusing (and disappointing) as the brush tool is by far the most important tool I use in Photoshop.  I spend more time painting marks and drawing lines than anything else.  My understanding is that the brush tool should be just as fast to use (if not faster?) when the graphics processor is enabled as when it is disabled.
Here is the setup I am using:
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended (64 bit) with latest updates as of 28/11/14
Asus Geforce GTX 560 Direct CU with the latest driver 344.75
    16GB available RAM
Intel i7 Quad Core CPU 3.07 GHz
As my GPU does not appear to be working hard at all when Photoshop is running even with advanced settings turned on, I can only guess that this is a problem with the Nvidia driver or Photoshop itself?  It seems as if the opengl drawing mode is not communicating properly with the Nvidia driver.  That's my guess so far as I'm no tech expert.
I have followed every step of the Photoshop CS6 GPU FAQ multiple times http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq.html
    But the problem always persists.
I have also followed the advice of others by turning brush spacing up to 10% or higher which does help a little bit but this obviously does not solve the problem!
I would be extremely grateful if anyone could help me to solve this problem - perhaps someone from Adobe can test this on a similar hardware and software setup?  I would be very interested to learn what exactly is going on that is causing the slowdown.
I will also notify Nvidia and see if they are aware of the problem.
    Many thanks,
    Calum

Yes, it sounds like something is wrong with your video card driver.
Until Apple releases a fix, you can keep OpenGL drawing disabled.

  • CS6 is messing up my brush strokes?

I've had some trouble with Photoshop lately with my tablet. Whenever I'm trying to draw, it suddenly creates a brush stroke that I didn't do. Basically, it takes the brush stroke, extends it, brings it back, and thickens it like pen pressure was freaking out. I have a Genius tablet (not sure what model), and it never does this in Paint Tool SAI for me. Is my tablet just not compatible for CS6? I've tried it on CS5, too, and it does the same thing, so maybe it's not Photoshop friendly?
Is there any setting or something I can change to fix it?
    Thanks

This is what I mean by it messing up my strokes.

  • How do I simply fade a brush stroke in CS6?

All I want to do it make a brush stroke fade off at different fade lengths. I've been looking online and it seems it's done in "Other Dynamics" in the Brushes menu, however there is not "Other Dynamics" in my Brushes menu! Aaarghh! Of all the years using Photoshop, this was never an issue. I'm not sure why Adobe made it sooo complicated.

To get the opacity of the brush to fade in and out within a single stroke you need a tablet with pressure sensitivity.
What about brush flow, it gets more opacity as you swing it?

  • Photoshop CS6 - Very Slow Brush Speeds...

    Hi:
I thought CS5 was bad, but brushing with CS6 all brush strokes are very, very slow. If I make a brush stoke I have literally have to put my hand on my chin and wait for the brush to catch up. I cannot work like this. Any suggestions on what to do to speed up the brushes? Forget about adding anything else to Photoshop, please work on speeding up exisiting functions.

  • Which version of flash is best for brush strokes?

    Hello,
I am just wondering which version of flash has the best brush strokes. I am using CS6, and it constantly edits my strokes. I heard the older versions of flash have better brush strokes.
I am an animator, and the brush tool is something I constantly use. I might have access to flash CS3 or CS4, and I heard CS3 is pretty close to the macromedia version.
I heard toon boom animate is amazing, but when I tried it, there's no vector lines. Or maybe I am doing something wrong, but my strokes in toon boom animate are pixelated.
I'm basically looking for a version of flash or different software, that has a brush tool that when I draw, it's what I wanted to draw, and doesn't edit my strokes. (By the way, I'm doing frame by frame animation)
    Thanks,
    Porter

If you are planning an upgrade, Flash Professional CC 2014.1 comes with custom brushes, using which you can custom-make a brush that suits your drawing needs. You can read more about it at:

  • The 'none' button automatically clicks when I do a brush stroke?

Whenever I try to make a brush stroke with a color, the color swatch switches to the box with a line through it and the color of the stroke turns grey. My scale is RGB not grey, I already checked. what do I do?

    laur,
It sounds as if the Layer were permanently converted to Grayscale or something.
If no brighter solution comes up, you may try the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • CC: Aren't Filter Gallery, Brush Strokes & Artistic suppose to be 16-bit now?

    Dear Forum:
I have used Photoshop since Version 2. I at long last downloaded a trial of CC (I currently use CS6) in the hopes that Filter Gallery, Artistic and Brush Strokes now support 16-bit processing. I even downloaded the instruction manual for CC, and it said it was supported. But alas, it is not working. Is this because I am on a trial vesion or did these features not get flushed out as promised? All versions of the above work in 8-bit mode.
    Pete

    Hi Curt!
Thanks for your reply. I have been waiting since Version 7 for Brush Strokes--Angled Strokes to be 16 bit---really need it. Any hope that it will happen SOON? My pimary reason for upgrading to CC.
I also noticed that Smart Blur is not up and running yet.
I like having Camera RAW as a filter--helpful.

  • How to automatically convert brush strokes to symbols?

Is there any way to just draw a stroke and it becomes a movie clip symbol automatically? Like to draw it in "a mode"?
I do character animation in another program then go into Flash CS6 to shade and draw little touch ups over the animation.
With symbols I'm able to change the opacity (which is the alpha) and I can "Multiply" over animation to create simple shading.
I can't use Flash to save my life so honestly this is the simplest thing I can really do. So is there any way to make every brush stroke I draw be automatically a symbol?
I had recently discovered that Flash isn't like Photoshop to where you can set the opacity for layers down and put modes on the layers, so this is the closest I've gotten to mimicking that.
Don't mention object drawing mode, I thought that made my drawings into symbols but it doesn't? :c

you can use jsfl. This should get you started:

  • BRUSH STROKE in/out configuration WON't WORK why ?

I use photoshop for years now, I'm not a noob.
I've been trying to fix this problems since I started to use it, but I HAVEN't found a single solution to it !
I customized the brush strokes to have a thin STROKE out/in but every time i get these bumps at the end of a stroke
I reinstalled the program a couple of times, and it's not only photoshop CS6, every photoshop has this problem.
But when I try another drawing program, there it works fine. SO I DON't KNOW WHAT TO DO.
    PLEASE HELP ME !!!

thanks for the list of all shortcut keys -
exemple for MixUp: I click Shift+F5 in order to get the unsharp mask and end up with the Fill window...
Most of the simple shortcut work just fine - and now I have even figured out how to add my own shortcuts to the list So I might be even able to fix my MIXUP......
Thanks, you helped me a lot.
    Best, Bee.

  • Using cs6 pencil and my strokes overlaping and dark. how do I stop this?

using cs6 pencil and my strokes overlaping and dark. how do I stop this?

Check the tool options bar and make sure the opacity is 100% and the mode is Normal.
If you need to paint with reduced opacity or a blending mode with either the brush tool or pencil tool, using a separate layer and adjusting the opacity or blending mode of the layer works better.

  • Add texture brush strokes without altering color??

I want to paint texture into an image without adding or changing color.
The best way to explain my goal is to visit this website with very fine work by Mark Wainer.
    http://markwainer.com/Artist.asp?ArtistID=32140&Akey=88KMSY3K
    My own website is www.mdiimaging.com
He has used Buzz, as have I, to change photos into watercolor like images, now defunct and taken over by Topaz software, who now market Simplify in place of BUZZ.
After running the filter, he has added brush strokes to add texture without altering any color—just adding a texture looking like impasto or thick brush strokes.
I have searched everywhere and view lots of video but cannot find a technique to get the result I want.
I am sure there is way to do this, probably with brushes in CS6 and am frustrated with my being unable to find or create a way to achieve this effect.
    Can you help??
Maybe you have a tutorial or video that can teach me, or you could direct me to a different source that can help
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

  • Effects not working/takes numerous brush strokes to apply?!

Hi there...Maybe I messed something up on accident..
But in lightroom cc, When I hit 'k' to bring up an effect it barely works...
Say "31" for full desaturation (bw)
I used to be able to achieve the effect in one drag and click of the mouse.  Now to get it, I have to apply the brush stroke in the selected area it 10-20 passes of the brush.  The slider is still at -100 for Saturation..Is this an update to the program or did I somehow manage to mess up my settings somewhere?
Same for every other effect (just re-tried with 01 - Burn...) does nothing really
What happened or how can I get my effects back to how they were before?!
    Thanks,
    Eddie

Thanks, my flow was at 10, not sure how it got there from 100, but thank you so much!  Played around with both sliders and get what they do now! Thanks Bob!

  • How can I change a brush stroke to a pencil stroke after I've drawn it?

How can I change a brush stroke to a pencil stroke after I've drawn it? Is this possible?

    h,
As I (mis)understand it, (in effect) just by clicking the Reduce to Basic Appearance button in the Appearance palette (and setting the desired Stroke Weight, if different from 1pt).
The Pencil Tool creates a uniform width path like the Pen Tool, producing Anchor Points like the Artbrush Tool. So when you reduce to basic appearance you will get a path corresponding/identical to the one you would create with the Pencil Tool.

  • Significant delay at beginning of brush strokes on Microsoft Surface Pro 3?

Using Photoshop Elements 10, it takes an abnormally long time for a brush stroke to begin registering. This is a bit difficult to explain, so here is a visual example:
Here is what happens in photoshop elements 10 when I write 'hello':
And here is what happens if I do the same in Gimp:
As you can see, it takes a relatively long time for photoshop to begin accepting a brush stroke, but otherwise renders the line in real time. This causes significant issues when trying to draw, especially as the delay tends to vary wildly.
I have adjusted every setting I can find. I had a similar issue in Windows 7 which was fixed by disabling 'Flicks' commands, but that has had no effect here. I can find no meaningful settings in Elements 10 itself aside from adjusting its memory usage, and adjusting that has been ineffectual.
All help is appreciated - I can't stand to use Gimp another day.

    Hello bblackstock-
Getting the most performance for your buck is important to me as well, but sometimes you need to save a little money and compromise on your technology solutions, so I understand your decision to go with the 64GB Surface Pro 3.  I am sorry to hear that the 64GB did not live up to your expectations when you found that it had the i3 processor and you were no longer able to exchange it.
Per our Return & Exchange promise here, we do allow 15 days for most returns (30 days if you are a My Best Buy Elite member and 45 days if you are an Elite Plus member).  Regrettably, beyond that time frame, we are unable to offer a return or exchange.
I apologize for any disappointment that this may cause you.
