CS6 - no Camera Raw plugin/filter

Have upgraded from CS5 to CS6. Do not have Camera Raw plugin/filter. Have tried the 'updates' under help, no good. Do I have to purchase the plugin? If so, please direct me to the appropriate place on the Adobe site. thankyou in anticipation.

Thankyou for your timely response.
I have decided to purchase CC, because I can see the writing on the wall.
I have been trawling through FAQ's on Creative Cloud and have realised Adobe's new financial model is leasing software as opposed to perpetual purchase.
In the future, an Adobe client will no longer be able to upgrade perpetual software when it suits their financial position. The perpetual product will eventually not be available or simply be too outdated. An example of implementation of this financial model is the Camera Raw as a filter is only availble in CC, not CS6. This is a quote from the Adobe site
"While Adobe Creative Suite 6 products will continue to be available for purchase, Adobe has no plans for future releases of Creative Suite or other CS products."
Adobe clients will have to continue the Creative Cloud lease payments in order to continue use of the product. Validation will be required every 99 days with a full year payment, or 30 days with monthly payments.
Software leasing is now the way of the world. However, once locked in to CC, there will be no going back to your old perpetual version. The gap between what the two offer will simply be too great, unless you are content to design in the dark ages.
Of course this means Adobe now have a predictable recurring income through Creative Cloud.
This is the part that concerns me.......... Pricing.
My hope is Adobe remains faithful to its cients and does not increase leasing prices beyond the financial scope of the small business and self employed users.

  • Camera RAW plugin, filter, importer for Premiere Pro CC

I've been using it now in Photoshop CC for H264 (5D) video clips and the results were amazing. But the process to export it to Photoshop as video file, do a color adjustment, render it and import back to Premiere is very long. And if to compare to SpeedGrade, the results look better In Camera RAW, and the interface of the plugin is much more simple and "friendly".
So why it can't just be inside Premiere (like Three Way Color Correctior) in effects section for example?
Also the ability to import DNG's from Blackmagic Cameras or Magic Lantern RAW (5D3) using such plugin would be amazing! I've seen a "preview4" demo of Adobe DNG importer and it's really cool, has a Camera RAW source settings but crashes very often in Premiere CC
Will there be a future development of this technology?

That may be partially true, but not entirely. I know for a fact that some of the things I have requested have been implemented. Not because I asked for them, but because a lot of people did. I have also received emails from Adobe employees saying "Great Request! I want that too. I will make sure it gets on the list."
I have also received emails telling me I am not the only one asking and I should feel free to read between the lines.
I'm just saying that if you have a great request that they also want - remember they can't just automatically add stuff they want for themselves just because they are users also - you might get fast tracked. Or if you are one of many, you have a good chance at seeing it happen.
In this case, keep in mind that Camera RAW just became a filter in Photoshop recently. It is an amazing and extremely welcome development, but it is new. If we mounted a campaign to get it into Premiere Pro, and got enough users behind it, perhaps we could get it done. In order to do that, we would probably have to make some amazing videos using Photoshop to do the job, post them, and then get people excited by the possibilities. As it stands, most of the Premiere Pro users have no idea what I am talking about. Why would they unless they are also photographers? I would not have known if it had appeared this time last year - before I bought my GH3.
Everything you can do in Camera RAW you can do other ways as far as I can tell, but Camera RAW makes it so easy it is obvious to me that you are correct in asking for it in Premiere Pro. I haven't used it much, so I have not experienced the speed issues. I will see what I can do to play around with it over the next few days and see if I can determine a faster workflow. My guess is that you start with Camera RAW, open it in Ae and use Dynamic link to put it into Premiere Pro, but that is just a guess. It might require the use of a digital intermediate. Put the entire clip into Photoshop, change the settings and go to bed. Wake up in the AM and export. Let's see if we can experiment a little - everyone can help.

  • Please direct me to the Photoshop CS6 camera raw plugin for Canon G15 digital camera

please direct me to the Photoshop CS6 camera raw plugin for Canon G15 digital camera
    Thank you

    Hi, rich_fred.
As the Canon G15 is a very new model, support is not yet available through Camera Raw. In the meantime, try out the software that came with you camera, to see if it can export a TIF or JPEG, which should open up in Photoshop just fine.
Hopefully support for the G15 will be available in the next Camera Raw update. You can find a list of supported cameras here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.html

  • Lack of support for Camera Raw plugin for Mac 10.6.8

I'm hoping to find some solutions to the road block I've run into.    I'd been using Photoshop CS6 with Mac OS 10.6.8 without any problems.
Then I got a new camera this week, and that's when the problems began.....
I wanted to edit the raw files (R2W format) from the Panasonic GH4, and needed to install the proper Camera Raw plugin.   I installed version 8.6, and not only did Photoshop refuse to acknowledge the installed plugin, but it was no long able to open ANY digital photograph.
I tried installing version 8.5, as well as removing various preference files, repairing permissions, rebuilding volumes (via DIsc Warrior + Drive Geinus) and all sorts of other suggestions I found online.   I was really hoping that a manual drag + drop of the plugin to the  Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CC/File Formats folder would do the trick, but NOTHING seemed to work for me.  I spent most of the day on Thursday trying to figure a solution, and wound up going back to my original Camera Raw plugin (version 8.3) just to be able to use Photoshop again.
I would have liked to have used the DNG Converter, but it doesn't work with Mac OS 10.6.8 either.
There's various reasons why I continue to use 10.6.8 as my primary OS - so many of my OTHER favorite softwares were radically changed or eliminated with the so-called "upgrades" and I really hate the way so many things were altered in what should be simple navigation in the Finder.  I do have OS 10.8 installed on a backup hard drive, but I really don't want to use this as my primary OS....  at least not at this point in time.
    So here's my plea ...
    Adobe -
PLEASE give me an updated version of the Camera Raw plugin that I can use with Photoshop CS6 under Mac OS 10.6.8.
PLEASE provide a version of DNG Converter that will also work with that particular set-up.
.... or help me find a solution so I can install these plugins without the massive headaches.

You can hook up the external 10.8 drive, boot into it, run the DNG 8.5 converter there pointing it to your raw files folder, boot back to the 10.6.8 system and you should have DNGs that will open in ACR 8.3

  • Camera raw plugin for photoshop 5.5 (windows) not updating

Hi, I'm trying to update the camera raw plugin (min 8.2) in photoshop 5.5 for windows. I downloaded, ran, installed camera raw plugin 8.6 and rebooted. The installation wizard shows as installed but when I open photoshop it still has camera raw 6.7.0.339. Please help!! (The dng converter works but the camera raw plugin has not been updated)

That may be because the latest version of ACR that works with CS5 is ACR 6.7

You can install ACR 8.7.1 in CS6 to get new Camera support without ACR new features

  • Camera Raw.plugin location on Mac, Photoshop Elements 6

(Regarding Photoshop Elements 6) Adobe's updater cannot find the Camera Raw plugin to update to 4.4.1, so I downloaded it manually. The problem is trying to find the old plugin so I can replace it. If I follow the info in the Read Me for this update, it says to put it in:
    ~/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
This folder did not exist, so I created Plug-Ins, CS3 and File Formats. Didn't work.
I went to the Photoshop Elements 6 folder, and there found
    Plug-Ins/FileFormats
(no space between "File" and "Formats"). I put the new Camera Raw.plugin there (no old one there), and now Elements, in its "About Plug-In" drop down menu lists TWO Camera Raw plugins, version 4.3.1 and the 4.4.1 I just put there.
Where the heck is the 4.3.1 file so I can get rid of it?? Searching with the Finder and Spotlight only reveals the 4.4.1 file.

Camera Raw location on a Mac:-
    Hard Drive/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/File Format/CS6
    or
    Hard Drive/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/File Format/CS5
    or
    Hard Drive/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/File Format/Elements
NOT within the User section at all!
and if you update one Camera Raw you can, of course, copy and paste to alternative versions of Adobe products (as if, for example, you have both CS6 & CS5, or Elements)

how do you get camera raw plugin for cs5.1 extented for new olympus omd e-m1 camera?

Native support requires ACR version 8.3, which will only run under CS6 or CC.
Use the free DNG converter to make DNGs readable in older ACR versions. http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html

  • I need a camera raw plugin for sony raw files

Hello there,  I got a new Sony A99 camera and I need a Camera Raw update for Adobe Bridge CS5.  I can see my old Sony files from my A580 but the new once are not showing up.  Where can I get an update for my CS5 bridge software?
    Thanks
    Fred

Which operating system are you using?
Have you tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get either camera raw 8.3 or 8.7.1, which should enable photoshop cs6 to open the canon 5D Mark III files.
(version of camera raw depends on your operating system)
If that doesn't work try one of the following camera raw plugin installers:
    Camera raw 8.7.1 plugin
    https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html
If you have windows xp or vista or mac os x snow leopard (10.6.8), then you'll have to use the camera raw 8.3 plugin installer:

  • Photoshop CS4 doesn't recognize camera raw plugin on yosemite

    Hi there,
I've been using Photoshop CS4 with the camera raw plugin for many years without issue. I recently got a new computer with Yosemite and when I installed PsCS4 it no longer worked with RAW files (5D mkii). I just tried downloading the newest version of the camera raw plugin, but Photoshop doesn't seem to recognize it. What can I do?

The “latest version of camera raw” would be ACR 8.7.1 and that is only compatible with PS-CS6 or newer.
PS-CS4 would probably install with ACR 5.0 but the 5D Mark II needs at least ACR 5.2.  The latest version of ACR you can install for PS-CS4 is ACR 5.7 which may be what you had on your old computer.
The usual way to update your Camera Raw plug-in would be to do PS / Help / Updates and let it check to see what is available, so try that.
I am not sure if that process still works, but you’re in luck because Adobe was still putting links to their installers on the website back in the CS4 era, so you should be able to download an installer and run it to get ACR 5.7 installed, from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106 <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh> &platform=Macintosh
It’s possible that something in the newest OS will prevent this installer from working, of course, but at least try.
You can check what version of the ACR plug-in you have installed by doing PS / About Plug-in / Camera Raw

  • Bridge CS6 and Camera Raw

I am unable to open jpegs into camera raw through Bridge CS6. Camera Raw preferences are unavailable. I am using OS 10.9.2.

Did you recently update to camera raw 8.4?
If so, you need to replace the existing camera raw 8.4 plugin with the one from this link:

  • Camera Raw Plugin for Lightroom 4

When I try and edit a CR2 file in Lightroom (LR) 4, I keep getting a message that this version of LR requires a photoshop camera raw plugin of 7.4 or full compatibility. I get the option to cancel, render using LR which coverts this to a tiff file or open as a tiff file. I cannot find this version of camera raw plug in on your site. I am using Lightroom 5. Please advise.

    Hi Amy,
I'm a bit confused, you say you're tring to edit in LR4, but then say you're using LR5.
Personally, I import my CR2 files into LR5 as DNG's and have no problem editing them in straight LR5 or the other plugins I have from Topaz and NIK using Photo>Edit in>plugin-name. One advantage of using DNG's is they are smaller file sizes than CR2's, and are "future compatible", according to Adobe.
