CS6 Non-responsive when using Light effect filter in Photoshop
Win 7 OS. I am trying to use the light effect filter and when I select it photoshop gets locked up and won't respond until I end task in task manager (it says photoshop not responding in task manager). Is there a fix for this? I did all of my updates and it still happens. I have homework to do, I need to fix this issue. Any help is appreciated,

Every time I try and use lighting effect, on my Win 7, CS6 it crashes. I at least get to use it, but when I click "ok" for the changes to take place, "Adobe has stopped working" and just crashes.
I looked into my Graphics Card drivers update... (AMD RADEON hd 6450) and on the site, I chose a very new update for a catalyst... blah blah. Which gave me this new control panel specific with this new driver update. However, once I downloaded it, restarted (for s & g's) it doesn't show up in my graphics card properties... its the same driver as before. So this may not have anything to do with what help I need. Although, it has a new "control center" that I looked at and its all martian to me.
Someone please help me to resolve this issue??!! I can give more information if needed.

Photoshop Elements 10 becomes non-responsive when using Dust & Scratch filter
Trying to apply the remove dust & noise filter in PS Elements 10. When the filter is applied, the hand tool becomes locked on and nothing further can be selected. All menu options become greyed out. Cannot even close program, have to force quit (running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4). Have already reset all tool options to try & resolve the hand tool locking. Have only encountered problem with this filter.

I have an issue using Lighting Effects in Adobe Photoshop CC 2014
Hello everyone,
I am having issues using Lighting Effects in Adobe Photoshop CC 2014. I created a duplicate layer that I want to do the effects on, converted it to a smart object and on that same layer went to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects to get to the Lighting Effects screen. When adjusting the parameters (drag/reshape the lights) for either the spotlight or point light, I don't see any changes. Can someone tell me what could be the issue or if I'm doing the steps wrong to apply the effects?

Shared Memory: 3831 MBI am experiencing flickering issues as well. However my issues are with the Fast Color Corrector and the Three Way Color Corrector. It seems as if the color correction tools are causing intermittent flickering on some people's systems.
Additionally when I converted some old PPCC 7.2.2 projects which had the Three Way Color Corrector applied, some clips in sequences would come up as a green screen in the program monitor. If I turned the TWCC off the footage would display correctly in the program window. If I turn the TWCC back on it would display the green screen again.
I haven't found a solution to the flickering but to solve the green screen issue I have to remove the effect, then re apply it. I guess for whatever reason, the 2014 version of PP has issues with 7.2.2 projects where the TWCC was applied.
I'm hoping Adobe will address this soon with an update for the various bugs that have been reported.

Why can't I use lighting effect filter in CS6 with an 8bit RGB file?
I've read all over that the filter only works with an 8bit/RGB file, which my file is, so I don't understand what the problem is. I am attempting to light a smart object (3d bevel and extruded text) that I created in illustrator, and thought that I might just need to rasterize the smart object before the filter would work, but even after I render it and or flatten the image, merge visible, I still don't have the option to use lighting effects! Please help!
Thank you for your prompt reply. After doing a bit of investigating I'm finding out this video card is pretty shite (work owned machine), and I didn't have the gp enabled in performance prefs. I had been using such an old version of PS previously I wasn't aware there was a setting for this, frankly. Per some other threads I found, I updated to the latest graphics accellerator drivers for it as well, but unfortunately the enable gp option is still greyed out, so I'm guessing it just won't run this onboard gpu doesn't meet some minimum system requirement or something. Thx again.

Missing Lighting Effects filter in Photoshop CC
So ive recently got PHotoshop CC, been using it without a hitch for a week. Then the time came to use lighting effects, but turns out they were grayed out:
I dont know why this is happening. Im in RGB mode, with 8 bit/channel. One thing i did notice though is that my graphics card does not show up in photoshop:
I have a Intel Q35 Chipset with 256 MB memory. I have an Intel Core 2 vPro processor running at 2.33 GHz, with 512 MB RAM. My OS is WIndows 7 (32-bit). Please help, im trying to complete a project and I really need the Lighting Effects. I'm using Photoshop CC.Well what graphics card should i get? I dont want to spend too much money, plus im not sure which cards will be compatible with my system. Heck, i dont even know if i can fit another one.
And can you also tell me the minimum requirements of a graphics card for the lighting effects to be used? -
Problem with accessing lighting effects in cc and cs6. In cc programme freezes and then window appears saying amd driver stopped working but is now ok but cc still frozen. Tried opening in cs6 no problem with driver but just default spotlight appears and then programme freezes. Any suggestions.
That is very old for drivers and new driver for the chipset will not be coming I do not see it as supported either Photoshop CC and CC 2014 GPU FAQ

Photoshop CS6 Extended crashing when using Oil Paint filter
I replaced a standard hard drive with a new SSD drive and did a fresh install of Windows 7 and all of my programs. I made sure all Win 7 updates, program updates and drivers are current. The good news is Photoshop CS6 Extended loads much faster. The bad news is now Photoshop crashes when I attempt to use the Oil Paint filter. The only hardware change is the new SSD, I haven't changed any video devices and I never had any issues running the Oil Paint filter before I swapped out hard drives and did the software reinstallations. I've tried the OpenGL Drawing Mode in basic, normal and advanced, and still get crashes when attempting to use oil paint. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Installed TWAIN devices: NONECrash info helps, but it would seem that you just see the old "intel chips don't cut it" problem. Turn of the intel graphics unit in the driver or even in the BIOS/ EFI. Perhaps updating your storage/ SATA driver when installing the SSD simply has re-enabled it.

AI CS6 consistently crashing when using stylize effects
I need help with this one please because it is severely hindering my projects. This is the second time I have reinstalled AI CS6 as last resort. It will freeze up Illustrator every time that I apply an effect like a drop-shadow, etc.

I have a couple plug-ins from Astute Graphics - however, I had the problems occur previous to the plug-ins..
I have tried restarting, using only AI and no other programs, etc.. When I reinstalled last time the probelm went away for about 4 weeks.

-JamisonThee could be several things working against you.
One you might have your start up disk as your scratch disk since you have a Mac Book Pro or if you have two drives in your Mac and you store files on both drives you might simply have a very fragmented drive or you might not have sufficient RAM or a combination of all of these. And you are using the default setting for The Document Raster Image Effects Settings under the Effects Menu. The default is 300 ppi for working with the effects with limited resources that might result in the circumstances you are encountering.
You can try to lower the setting to 72 ppi just so that you can work and then when the file is outputting that setting can be changed before saving as a pdf or sending the file to your desktop printer or to a commercial printer.
You might simply need an external drive to store most of your files and use the internal drives current work.
Those are my thoughts perhaps others have different information. -
Picture appears white (cannot see the image) when using camera raw filter in photoshop cc
I have a fresh install of Photoshop CC on my macbook. I am running into an issue when editing an image in Photoshop cc and using the camera raw filter. If I choose the camera raw filter camera raw opens up but all I see is white - the picture is not showing within the camera raw interface. This happens whenever I am working on a layer and apply the camera raw filter. The only time it works is when I do not have any layers but only the image as it comes directly from within camera raw - then it works fine. I'm guessing there is something really basic I am missing but it is maddening!

The Camera RAW filter will not work on an adjustment layer alone. Select the layer with the image and the adjustment layer and convert to a smart object to apply the Camera RAW filter to the image with the adjustment layer applied. -
Photoshop CS6 lighting effects filter--where are the handles?
I have read all the previous posts about this, and taken all steps. Running WIn7, 64 bit, my video card is 512Mb, drivers are up to date, PS is up to date, I restarted and stil no handles appear in the Lighting Effects filter.
Does "all steps" include ensuring 'View > Show > 3D Lights' is enabled and 'View > Extras' is enabled when the Lighting Effects filter is active?

Lighting effects filter doesn't display options bar (PS CC)
When I start the lighting effects filter in Photoshop CC (64 bit) it doesn't display the correct options bar so I can't choose options and not even quit the filter:
I had to think about this one. Open the Window menu, and recheck 'Options'.

Using the lighting effects filter causes my CS6 to crash
Hi,
I read other threads with people have issues with their PC, but I am not able to follow them to correct my issues.
When I open a JPEG file from my mark iii into CS6, I try to start a new layer and then add the lighting effects filter. CS6 crashes (the little effects comes up on the screen and the little blue circle goes round and round). Nothing happens, but if I check task manager it says photoshop is not running.
I have windows, 16GB ram, and am using a small percent of my memory.
How do I see if I need to update my video card and how do I do that?

Cannot use lighting effect in CS6 extended
When I use the lighting effect filter in CS6 extended, it only creates a new layer without any change in the menu and other things. As advised, I try to edit the GPU setting under the edit menu but the column is in grey colour and cannot be edited. I have changed my display card to AMD Radeon HD 7770 with an updated driver but it still not works.
Are you sure the document is an RGB 8-bit/channel image?

Is the Lighting Effects Filter still 32-bit in CS6?
In Photoshop CS4 and CS5, it's a real PIA to have to restart PS in 32-bit mode in order to use the Lighting Effects filter (FILTER>RENDER>LIGHTING EFFECTS). Has this been addressed in CS6? (Still looking for reasons to upgrade.) Thanks.

CS6 Lighting Effect Filter requires a Supported GPU card and open GL enabled. If you do not has such Lighting Effect will not be listed under Filter>Render>missing lighting effect is whet you will have on XP Grayed out Window 7 when GPU not enabled
