CS6 not recognising NEF (RAW) files from Nikon D800 [was:NEF files]
CS6 not recognising NEF (RAW) files - Nikon D800 is compatible - not sure why - can anyone help with this query

Well… I just don't see the wisdom or prudence in updating to 7.1 when 8.3 is available for CS6.

Can't open raw files from Nikon d800 in PS CS5 and can't update Camera Raw plug-ins
Can't open raw files from Nikon d800 in PS CS5 (Win7 64-bit). It says, the model not supported by Camera Raw. Tried updating Camera Raw plug-ins for d800 but keep getting error message: Update failed, Adobe Application Manager may be damaged. Re-install the latest application manager but still the same error message. How to fix?

Karla ChouhanThe D800 is supported in Camera Raw 7.1 and higher

CS5 is not compatible with Camera Raw 7 and higher. You need CS6 (paid for upgrade or join the Adobe Cloud).

Or stay with CS5 and use the free DNG converter to convert all D800 Raw files to DNG then edit the DNGs in Bridge and Photoshop

Are you having a problem? What have you tried? Do you have Apple's camera connection kit?
With the CCK, you can connect the camera or the camera's SD card.

I have just had a new hard drive in my MacBook Pro and had to reinstall Photoshop CS4. Despite downloading the most recent Camera Raw plug-in Photoshop does not recognise my raw files from my Nikon D 800
That is correct. The Nikon D800 RAW NEF requires ACR 6.7 or newer and you need at least CS5 to use ACR 6.7. You need to download the 8.6 DNG convert and create DNG files for NEF files to use CS4. Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras

Hi there! Because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I moved your question to the Photoshop General Discussion forum, where you'll get more specialized help.

i have a d800, bridge or photoshop do not seem to support the raw files, i am using CC and bridge will not bring up the thumbnails and photoshop will not open the files at all, can anyone help?
[Moved from Cloud forum to Camera Raw forum]
ACR = Adobe Camera Raw.
ACR is the plugin used by Photoshop to read and process Raw files from cameras. It must be updated every time a new camera comes on to the market.
The Nikon D800 has been fully supported since ACR7.1
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
ACR7.1 is compatible with Photoshop CS6 and later
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
So, if you are in fact using Photoshop CC, there should be no reason that Raw files cannot be opened.
In Photoshop, click:
Windows: Help > About Plug-In > Camera Raw
Mac: Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw
Which version number is shown?
Are you using Nikon transfer software to get the Raw files from your camera to your computer? -

Unable to load .jpeg or NEF files from Nikon D800 to Lightroom 4.2
Just purchased a Nikon D800. Upgraded my Lightroom 3 to 4.2. When attempting to dowloand some test shots, I get an error message telling me some images weren't downloaded because they can't be read. I installed Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 but am still unable to get my images into Lightroom. Test files are Nikon RAW NEFs and .jpegs shot at maximum file size.
Ask in the LR forum. this may simply be a configuration issue with the RAW engine.

Does iPhoto 11 support RAW files from Nikon D800?
Does iPhoto 11 support Raw files from a Nikon D800 or do I need to upgrade to Apeture? I am running 10.7.4. and currently use iPhoto '09
Aperature and iPhoto use the same RAW support - you probably need to upgrade to iPhoto '11 - purchase from the App store, backup your iPhoto library and upgrade - the RAW support list is here

With new version of Lightroom 5, I cannot import files from Nikon D800
Hello-
I am having a ton of problems with Lightroom ever since I downloaded the latest version of Lightroom 5. Anyone else? I cannot open my catalog which I keep on an external drive but even more troubling, my files from my Nikon D800 and D700 will not import. Any ideas? I didn't have these problems before I "upgraded". Thank you."Some import operations were not performed.
The following files were not imported bc they could not be read. (1)"
This is after just trying to import one but I get the same message when I try to import more than one. Thanks for any ideas. -
Previously installed update for D7100, but it's no longer recognizing the Nikon .NEF files. What's the solution other than buying a new version? There are important images that need to be converted to JPEG for upload to a newsletter that will be published this week. Thanks.
I am using Windows 7. I think that the best path might be a third party conversion program. Do you have a recommendation?
Thanks,
Fred Czerner

If I upgrade to Lightroom 5, will my raw images from NIkon D800 work?
I have Lightroom 3 and want to import my NEF (Nikon RAW) files (D700 & 800) and it says not supported. If I upgrade to the newest version, will it work?

Yes, but.... bear in mind rumours floating around that Lightroom 6 will be announced in the next week so you may wish to hold off for that.
Best not to go spreading those rumours. No-one with any credibility believes them.
