Cs6 on mbp with iris or iris pro

Can I use all the features of cs6 on the 2013 MacBook Pro with iris or iris pro integrated graphics or am I better off buying the 2012 mbp 15 non retina with nvidia gt650m card?

It sounds like your MBA power adapter is dead. Replace it with the 85 Watt for the Macbook Pro. I just bought one 2 weeks ago and was delighted to discover it has the low profile magsafe connector that works just fine with the MBA. The Macbook Pro adapters work on everything, so that's all I buy when power adapters fail.

  • Should I get an Early 2013 Macbook Pro 15 with GT 650m or Late 2013 Macbook Pro 15 with Iris Pro?

    Hello everybody,
This is going to be my first Mac that I am going to buy (Yay!).  I'm mainly going to use this for taking notes, typing essays, and playing games (Minecraft, TF2, Bluestacks client).  Which Macbook Pro 15 should I buy?
Refurbished Macbook Pro 15" Early 2013 ($1659 + tax from Apple Refurbished)
    Core i7 2.5 Ghz
    8 GB RAM 1600 MHZ
    256 GB SSD
    NVIDIA GT650M with 1GB GDDR5
    or
Macbook Pro 15" Late 2013 (new, $1849 from bhphotovideo, no tax)
    Core i7 2.0Ghz
    8 GB RAM 1600 MHZ
    256 GB SSD
    Intel Iris Pro 5200 Graphics
The prices are pretty much the same after taxes( I plan on either buying it from Refurb Apple Online, or brand new from bhphotovideo.com).  I know the Intel Iris Pro are just integrated graphics, but is the performance on par with the GT650M for the things that I'm doing with the laptop?
    Thank you

  • Does anyone know autodesk Mudbox run  on the MBPR 15 with iris pro?

I want to buy MBPR 15 to using Autodesk MAYA,Mudbox....some 3D softwares.
Does anyone know what should I choose?
MBPR 15 650M  or new MBPR 15 with intel iris pro.
    Please give me some suggestions.
    Thanks!

One thing I do know, is the the UI is very small and menu items/buttons are hard to see. Someone posted a video of a now removed autodesk forum response on how to adjust font sizes .cfg file style, but I tried and it did nothing to the small text in Maya 2014. If you plan on it and don't have button and menu locations memorized by feel, I wouldn't use this software on a macbook pro without an external display, or change the resolution out of retina to use Maya.

  • Is it possible to use adobe cs6 design standard with a mac book pro with a retina screen?

does it work in connection with a normal screen?
    thank you

FunnyFanny44 I am sorry but only Photoshop CS6 was updated to support HiDPI displays.  You can find additional details at HiDPI and retina display support FAQ.

  • Can Iris Pro run Photoshop 3D

I want to upgrade my 2009 iMac to a 2013 version with Iris Pro (no discreet videocard) and as much RAM as I can get in there. Does anybody know if the 3D function in Photoshop CS6/CC run on this configuration? Adobe sets the minimum of 512MB of VRAM, recommends 1GB, but I don't know what that means for an integrated chip.
    Brian

Also... I have now heard from a friend online that iMac Iris Pro has the equivelant processing power of 1GB of VRAM.  Does anybody know if this is correct, of is any comparison of eRAM and vRAM this way too much apples and oranges?

  • Which Macbook Pro should I get (Iris Pro or no Iris Pro?)

I have an outdated MBP (2009) and want to get a newer one. I use it mostly for work --- web/editing images but expect to occasionally need to edit videos as related to my job.
I am looking at refurbished and it's between:
Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.0GHz Quad-core Intel i7 with Retina Display for $1659. This one has Iris graphics
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/FE...retina-display
    or
Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.3GHz Quad-core Intel i7 with Retina Display. No Iris Pro. $60 cheaper.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC...retina-Display
So, I guess my question is do I need Iris Pro for my purposes? I don't know much about computers but it looks like the processor on the one with Iris Pro Graphics is slower. Is that right?
    Thanks.

I would choose the first one.

  • Iris Pro 5200 or similar in 13'' rMBPs

    Hi,
To my understanding the very reason why Apple opted to employ Iris 5100 instead of Iris Pro 5200 in its late 2013 and mid 2014 13'' models is because of the energy (28 vs 47 watt TDP) they drain. In other words, if Apple had employed Iris Pro 5200 in 13'' rMBPs, then the battery life would have decreased compared to earlier 13'' rMBP iterations, which would be a wrong step for Apple and something unacceptable to consumers.
In this regard I was wondering:
    1) approx. how much the battery would decrease if Iris Pro 5200 were employed in Haswell rMBPs?
    2) From the Wikipedia article on Broadwell and its "expected variants" section, I gather that one of the Broadwell CPUs will be a 37 Watt TDP dual-core CPU with an embedded GPU that has an integrated eDRAM. 37 watts is still quite not near to 28 watt but considering the fact that Broadwell is said to be that it will be significatly more power efficient compared to Haswell, do you think such CPU would be employed in the Braodwell iteration of 13'' rMBP without negatively affecting its 9 hours battery life?

Apple doesn't release hardware specs of upcoming models, and such discussion is forbidden on this forum.  Apple has a very tight non-disclosure agreement for those who do test its products.
I am not asking for insider information nor a position at Apple but rather opinions from tech-savvy users who might have insight due to their knowledge and/or using Macs for some time. Just as Oglethorpe who provided a different perspective based on info on previous Apple products. I am sure there must be some forumites who would know technical details and may deduce, at least approx.,  what current 13'' models battery life would be if they were employed with Iris Pro 5200 and whether the Broadwell update may see an integrated GPU with eDRAM similar to Iris Pro 5200. For instance guys at Anandtech make some projections based on their technical knowledge. Are they working at or for Apple? Are they testing for them and violating a disclosure agreement? Of course not! In short, I am really surprised how you could interpret my query this way.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Intel Iris Pro Graphics in Macs

    Hey everyone,
Does anyone know if Premiere Pro CC supports GPU acceleration with Intel Iris Pro Graphics from the new Macbook Pros? This video from Intel clearly shows that it's possible for Windows but what about Macs?
    http://software.intel.com/en-us/videos/accelerating-video-production-with-opencl-and-intel -iris-graphics
I'm interested because I know OpenCl performance with Iris Pro should be stellar compared to Nvidia 650m and 750m.
    Thanks!

Good question. I'm also trying to figure that out. The 15" Macbook Pro has the Intel Iris Pro Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB. Whereas the 13" has the Intel Iris Graphics 6100. I prefer the smaller size laptop but am concerned about the Gfx.

  • Iris Pro and FCP X

    Hey
I've read the System Requirements for FCP including the listing of Open CL compatible "cards." Should I infer that integrated graphics are simply unacceptable, or can FCP X be successfully used on a 2013 iMac with Iris Pro? Would love to hear from anyone who has personal experience, especially if you have done an AB comparison.
    Mike

Yes, tried that - it says I havent bought anything. My downloaded software is .... nothing.
Excellent, ha ha - but my Visa says I paid for it, and I have it - so .... um.
I KNOW Apple website cant be wrong - and I am told there is no support when you buy anything. So I am kinda stumped what to do next....
    Suggestions?

  • Can I use two HP Pavillion 23bw monitors with my MBP with Retina Display?

Can I use two HP Pavillion 23bw monitors with my MBP with Retina Display with good video quality? I just purchased them and am already reading about issues with non-Apple External Monitors being used with MBP with Retina.  Plus I just assumed it given the power of the video card, but I can turn off the display to my MBP and extend the two HP monitors correct? I do realize they won't have the picture quality of the retina display but I would hope they look reasonable with 1080p
New to the Support Community so thanks in advance for any help.

This is an update on the question about the use of the Dell P2415Q 4K monitor with MacBook Pro 13" and 15" w/ Nvidia graphics card installed. The monitor works very well with both systems and is automatically identified when connected. The 13" machine with Iris Graphics defaults to 2560 x 1440 at 60hz. This was very workable, matching the Apple Thunderbolt Display for resolution. I was not able to set the display for full 4K at 3840 x 2160, even at 30hz. Just not enough horsepower with the basic Intel CPU with Iris Graphics. But make no mistake, the setup works well and the screen looks great.
The 15" with Iris Pro Graphics and the Nvidia GeForce GT 575M discrete graphics card also recognized the display and drove it at full 4K, 3840 x 2160, 60hz with no problems. Running in clamshell mode required a bit of fine tuning with the Apple display settings. But nothing major.
Due to a relatively small workstation, I selected the 24" version of the Dell monitor. If you are looking for a relatively large monitor with near "retina" resolution, the P2415Q is a perfect pairing for the MacBook Pro - and a terrific bargain. I paid $530 on the Dell website.

  • MBP with Intel Iris Pro graphic card performance

    Hi Fellow CC
I wanted to know if any of you has experience with the MBP Retina 15" with the Intel Iris Pro graphics card? does it work well with Photoshop, InDesign and some video editing?
    Cheers
    Mica

The NVIDIA card will help and give your MBPro more capabilities. The point is that Ray-traced rendering is not very helpful or useful on probably 95% of your projects. If you want to use that feature it's going to be slow with an NVIDIA card and much slower if you use CPU rendering.
What I'm trying to say is that you should buy the highest performing computer that your budget will allow. If AE is a hobby or your are a student you use one set of parameters to calculate that budget. If you make a living with AE then you use another. If you don't think about your budget and don't do some financial planning regarding your purchases then you probably won't be financially successful in many other areas of your life. The point it - carefully think about what your are going to do with what you buy and make sure the sacrifice you will have to make to purchase your tools is worth the productivity the new tool will bring to your job. Only you know that answer.
You seem to be hung up on Ray-traced rendering. For me that is a very very minor consideration. Performance and capacity is the major part so my laptop is the MBPro R that you see on the right side of the list with all of the upgrades checked. My previous MBProR was nearly the same. I bought it as soon as they were introduced in June of 2012 and sold it to upgrade in July of 2014 when the latest upgrade came out because that is what fit my business plan. The money for the upgrade came from a small portion of my billable time that is funneled into a special account just to keep my tools up to date. Any decision I make to upgrade is based on projections that weigh productivity against cost. You'll have to figure out your own criteria. IMHO Ray-traced rendering is almost not worth considering. The Retina Display and a 15" screen and processor/Ram/Storage capacity and the ability to drive a big external monitor are the major considerations.

  • How to activate the GPU with Yosemite, iris pro on macBOOK ?

with after effect CS6 on macbook pro (under yosemite) with a iris pro from intel i can't activate the gpu render in the graphics options even i try with installing the latest Cuda and the way i found on video maze forum, have somebody experimate a solution?

Do not install CUDA software on a computer without CUDA (Nvidia) hardware. Doing so can be very damaging.
The GPU is almost entirely irrelevant to After Effects.
See this page for details of the few things that the GPU does with After Effects:
