CS6 on Mountain Lion - will it still work if I upgrade to Mavericks?

We currently have CS6 working on Mountain Lion and I have been reluctant to upgrade to Mavericks as I worry it will stop working or cost a fortune to upgrade the software to work
Has anyone already upgraded and not had issues or is it problematic?
I also have the same worry about MS Office for Mac (but at least that is a bit cheaper to replace than CS6)

Kez, I can confirm that CS6 runs just fine in Mavericks. I use the main apps all the time for university.
Premeire, Photoshop, Bridge, and Audition all work without issue.

  • Thinking of upgrading OS to Mountain Lion will FCP 7 work?

I am running Snow Leopard and I would like to upgrade to Mountain Lion, my concern is will there be any issues with FCP 7?  Also what are the steps one needs to take to successfully upgrade with out any major issues?

Final Cut Pro 7 works with OS X Mountain Lion. Just make sure that it's updated to the latest version before upgrading.
Before upgrading, make a backup of your data with Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner. Also, it's important to check that all your apps are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com After that, you can upgrade to Mountain Lion without worrying about issues

  • I use VMware Fusion, will it still work if I upgrade to Lion

I use VMware Fusion to use Quicken in Windows.  Just want to be sure before doing the upgrade to Lion that it will still work?  Thanks in advance.

You have to check with VMFusion, but my advice is to wait a few more months so the bugs are completely worked out if your very dependent upon things working.
    I run Fusion myself.

  • Will software still work if I upgrade to snow leopard

Hi I am using OSX 10.4.1 Tiger on my IMAC and I am wanting to upgrade to Snow Leopard but I am concerned if my existing software will still work on Snow Leopard as when I upgraded my laptop from snow leopard to Lion so that I could upgrade to ICloud none of my software works as it says it is 'powerpc' version and Lion does not support - is this the same in Snow Leopard.
Packages I am concerned about are Illustrator CS2, Indesign CS2, Quark Xpress 6.5 and Photoshop CS 2 and 7

    Lion/101.7 System requirements
        •    x86-64 processor (Macs with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or Xeon processor.)
        •    At least 2GB of memory, (I say 4GB)
        •    Latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), with the Mac App Store installed
        •    At least 4GB of disk space for downloading, (I say 40GB at least)
Like Snow Leopard, Lion does not support PowerPC-based Macs (e.g., Power Macs, PowerBooks, iBooks, iMacs (G3-G5), eMacs).
Lion also does not support 32-bit Intel Core Duo or Core Solo based Macs. Rosetta is no longer available in Lion, which means Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.

If it's only eMail you need, then you can do it now without upgrading...
    Get an iCloud account first.
MobileMe & dot Mac will still work last I heard.

Don't delete your old account yet. Just setup a new one in Mail>Preferences>Accounts, little plus icon. Choose IMAP as account type, not ,mac or MobileMe.

  • I have a Belkin USB N150 Wireless Adapter used since my airport card broke. It worked in mountain lion however no longer works when i updated to mavericks. Anyone have a solution to this?

Is there anyway to fix this, or is there a way to downgrade back to mountain lion?

    Hello melissanelson110,
If you've backed your Mac up with Time Machine, you may be able to revert to Mountain Lion by restoring from your backup.

  • Upgrade to mountain lion 10.8 (if you can't upgrade to Maverick 10.9)

So how does one upgrade through the App store to 10.8 (Mountain Lion) if they have machine not eligible for 10.9 (Maverick)?
Just asking... cause I might want to eventually...

Okay, then what about 10.7 (Lion)?
I've not updated because I'm too cheap to replace a few critical apps that won't run in 10.7 or higher, and they work perfectly fine as they are and do all that I need.
But, I do know 10.7  will run on a 4,1, and if I decide to up-grade...
I imagine I could just walk into the Apple store and have them do it... but just as general question how else might one upgrade or just generally access other versions of the OS they might need?

  • I am using lion and wonder if I upgrade to mountain lion, will I have to purchase iWorks

Please, someone address this issue.  I wonder if I upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion, will my applications work such as iWorks '09.
I just purchased an iPad 2 and I understand that if I upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion that I will be able to integrete the two better.
Thanks so much for any input.  I have spent hours trying to find out this information on FAQs, support questions etc. on Apple.ca and
frankly, I am getting very frustrated.
PS - I just purchased the upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion not even a year ago and here I am again.  Don't know what to do.

Can't say anything about Lightroom, but Adobe officially supports CS6 all the way through Mountain Lion.

  • HT4414 If I upgrade to Mountain Lion, will my Windows based apps still work or will I have to reinstall them?

If I upgrade to Mountain Lion, will my Windows based apps still work or will I need to reinstall them?

As I said, the Windows applications are running in the virtual machine, using the Windows system.  It is not directed affected by upgrading Mac OS X to Mountain Lion.  So you should not need to re-install anything that runs in the Windows virtual machine.
The real question is, does Parallel Desktop, which is the Mac OS X application, work properly under Mountain Lion?  You should go to
    http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/
and make sure you are using the latest version that has been updated to work with Mountain Lion.
