CS6 Photoshop [EXTREMELY] slow, help?
Greetings, fellow users of the Adobe Community
My name is Mark and currently I am studying in the Netherlands (whereas I live in) and I am following an education that revolves around Creative Suite 6, making use of programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. I've received the official package for my education from the school (that holds a key to use the pack for one concecutive year) which I am currently using. It worked out all fine, until I had a problem with Photoshop. The most simple actions there are (such as setting up a gradient) is extremely time consuming, and I have absolutely no clue what to do. Not even the teachers at my school know what the problem(s) is/are, and of course, neither do I. I decided to wait for a couple of days and hovered over to the Adobe Community and hope, that the users have had experience, or know the solution to this problem. I have ensured you lot to send over a some pictures, so that there may be a general understanding of the problem that I have. For those with the solution of something related to the 'Scratch Disk' being full, I am certain that that is not the problem as I have enough disk space left.
I would like to thank everyone in advance and please, let me know if you possess a solution!

EDIT: I have the solution, for some utter reason it stood on Millimeters instead of Pixels, I absolutely no clue why it was in that stance. Pardon me for the inconvenience!

(Just a quick heads up, I'm a real nobhead when it comes to computer but I'll try to give up as much information as I can!)
What version?
By version I'm presuming what version of the OS i'm running, it's OSX Mavericks
How much RAM?
8 GB (2 slots)
How much free space on drives?
Working with only one drive, 14,39 GB free space
How large of an image are you working with?
The one in the image was 2560x1600, but it happens with all formats, no matter the size
Does this happen if you have an image with more background layer with another layer?
I don't understand this question, sorry.
What is extension, bit mode, and is it RBG?

I'm experiencing the same trouble. Photoshop takes 5 minutes to open then runs fine.
I recently bought a new iMac AND updated to Adobe Master Collection CS6. My concern is that PhotoShop now takes 5 minutes to open. The Photoshop desktop pops up immediately, but the moment you click on a tool or try to open a file (no matter the size) results in the spinning wheel for five minutes before you can do anything. After that, Photoshop appears to work fine.
What I’ve done:
Ran Adobe updater
Reset Photoshop Preferences
Validated all fonts and removed any trouble fonts
Ran the font test
Set font preview size to none
Cleared the Photoshop type cache and system cache
Disabled Symantec Endpoint
Tried running with the GPU processor on/off and in basic
Tried opening Photoshop with optional third party plug-ins turned off (still took five minutes but this time I didn’t even get the Photoshop desktop view until AFTER the five minutes)
I’m wondering since I migrated the files form my old computer (and older versions of Master Collection) did something get corrupted.

How come my ps CS6 runs extremely slow?
After testing photoshop cs6, seeing how fast it worked on 3D on my pc I bought the web design and premium version. Time in between was several weeks. To my huge disappointement, the bought version runs extremely slow, mostly on 3D when I want to paint on target texture. Secondly I experiance a bug when I open my file and want to paint on targeted texture....brush shows inaccesible when wanting to paint. I do not mean greyed out, but the moment I hover over my 3d object it shows I cant paint (yes I have my layer selected;-). I have to fix this each time by changing targeted texture to some other and again switching back to the one I actually want to edit. As last thing, my OpenCL is greyed out.....maybe that causes the speed problems.....did not check with trial if it worked so not sure this is the issue=/....
When it comes to the speed I tried several things and now even reinstalled my whole pc hoping that would solve the problem.....it did not. Both CS6 photoshop 32-and 64-bit run slow on 3D.
I closed my trendmicro virusscanner to see if that would help....it speeded up only the start-up process but not the 3D. 3D works so slow that I have to wait 10 minutes after each move..just crazy....evenmore as it worked awesome with the trial version.
Also changed amount of memory assigned to ps by increasing to 80% and even 100%...nothing.
changed in graphic processors settings advanced into basic...nothing again.
No idea what to do next besides buying a new computer....I know I do not have a super strong one but as it worked perfectly I just don't get it. My pc runs this system:

Installed newer graphic driver as its seemed Microsoft update had an older one installed on my pc. This one is straight from Nvidia site with 3D support. Nevertheless ps runs slow and especially 3D. 32 Bit runs tiny bit faster than 64-bit. Now my photoshop even crashes with 3D: 32 bit holds out longer then 64...last one freezes almost immediately and I can close it through task manager. After installing newer driver at least the 64 bit shows OPenCL , where 32-bit not....maybe thats normal...
I hope anyone can help me as I even checked the system requirements on adobe and mine should be more than fine.
Message was edited by: NethergirlWell, it must be a system-specific bug of some sort that's been introduced, because I was able to create a 4200 x 3500 image made by mapping an image of similar size to a cylinder, and the cylinder would move/rotate in real time. Of course, I have a completely different video card and system than you do, but I'm just verifying that it's not broken everywhere.
Rendering isn't hugely fast, but that's not unexpected with a larger image.
Maybe being more specific would help. Is your mesh complex?
Is it something you'd be willing to share online or describe how to create? I would be happy to try to match what you're doing more thoroughly to see whether I can reproduce the slowdowns.
Beyond that, I'm not sure what to suggest... You don't have a lot of RAM to be working on 15 megapixel images, but as you say the thing to concentrate on is that you're seeing quite different performance from the Ps CS6 beta version.

Illustrator CS6 - Lagging - extremely slow!!
Has any one experinced CS6 Illustrator lagging and responding extremely slow. For example if I try to move a vector graphic it takes a few seconds before it re-freshes and updates. That goes for about everything re-sizing, moving, editing.....
I know it's not my computer. CS5 worked great. My computer is a Mac Pro running with 16GB of ram and solid state drives.

I had the same problem, and it was almost unbearable to work. Then i found this solution to run your adobe illustrator in windowed mode )
Left click adobe illustrator exe file, go to the properties, then shortcut tab, and see below Target: now you just have to paste this -w 1600 -h 900 in your target location and hit apply ok. Please set your resolution according to your LED monitor size. hope this helped.

Adobe premiere cs6 suddenly EXTREMELY slow and CPU intensive

I'm editing candon 5d mk III footage (h.264 files) on my late 2011 MacBook pro. Here are the specs..

I'm a wedding videographer and I am currently closing my last edits of the season. I have edited 20+ 45 minute videos on Adobe Premiere CS6 and have had absolutely no issues at all. I enjoy working on premiere so much that I've been trying to get my videographer friends to give a shot and simplify their workflows.
Upon starting my second to last edit (same process as the other 18 videos I've done this season, organizing the footage within it's respective folder, loading it into premiere with the couples' choice in music and opening 4-5 new sequences based on the events of the day) I noticed that I was having a lot of trouble importing folders into my media bin. I had to import all of the footage unorganized because loading the folders "Preperation, Ceremony, Photos, Reception" with the footage within them would cause premiere to freeze and become unrepsonsive. So, finding no solution I added all the footage in no particular fashion. Just one large unorganized group. Then, while organizing the files into bins, I noticed even the smallest move would take several minutes to complete. Because I was working directly off of my hard drive I figured these kinds of delays would eventually catch up to me, so I moved all of my files to my HDD and decided to work on them there. The project itself continued to be extremely slow and started crashing regularly (especially when applying audio effects). After a few hours, I stopped being able to play 1080p video at all. It would jam and stutter so often it become unuseable. 720p video was the next to go along with my ability to render anything in less than 30 minutes - 1 hour. At last attempt to use premiere I was getting an "Unable to compile movie - Unknown Error" message when trying to render alpha channel things (lower third titles and things of the nature), my ability to change the resolution of the playback had disappeared (Going from full, 1/2 and 1/4 did nothing, it just remained at full quality) and finally doing anything in premiere caused it to use 300% of my CPU (based off of my Activity Monitors metering).
Does anybody have any clue as to what could be happening to my machine/program? I have a yearly subscription to adobe's creative cloud service if that helps. Oh and I've tried moving my media cache's from my HDD to my SDD with little or no results. Don't know if that helps.

What I believe to be clean installs aren't doing anything so I'm hoping somebody can give me a hand.Sounds to me like specific media is dragging the Mac to a halt. (300%, really Apple? Isn't that like saying that my car can go up to 90mph, but last night I drove it at 300% speed, 270mph)
Some things to trouble shoot:
Do you have any assets in the project that are loaded directly from strange devices, like a SD card or CD audio? Any dynamic link media that may be problematic?
Is there anything that makes this footage different than footage from successful projects?
Can you work successfully with an old project?
Can you successfully start a new project using different or less media?
Is the 500 GB drive internal or external?
One time I was sent out at from work to troubleshoot a system that would freeze up like yours. The guy was an idiot and rude client that demanded that someone from our facility help him fix his own project. He said that he had been troubleshooting for a day, and then had convinced his organization's IT guy that he needed a way over spec new pc to run Premiere.
His system was fine. Within 3 minutes of checking media in his project, I saw that top track of the problem sequence had a video clip that was set to a speed of .01%, and he had the clip stretched for 24hours in the sequence. His project was supposed to be a 2 minute PSA. All his issues went away after removing the idiotic Day Long slow motion clip. He complained to my boss because I had laughed at him.
I relate that story to illustrate that it could be a weird thing with you media or fx, just as well as a hardware or software issue.

If you have never done a clean install consider doing one. Backup, clone, setup a USB installer and wipe the system. Or wait for the new internal 500GB drive (so you are back to using about 50%) to do a clean install and run Setup Assistant. You would be surprised how even just that can feel and run.
RAM is pretty much a given so when you do, look at putting a 500GB SSD in there as well. -
Photoshop CS6 running extremely slow after graphics card switch
My old graphics card died (a evga 8800 Ultra Superclocked 756MB 384 bit), so I replaced it with a (XFX HD-455X-ZAFR Radeon HD 4550 1GB 64-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 ). I knew this was a less capable card but from reading other forums it seemed that GPU performance was not as big of an issue in Photoshop and the 4550 was a supported card by Photoshop. However, I was previously able to batch open about 15 (ish) photos at a time to work on in Photoshop. Now if I open more than 1 everything is VERY slow and even that 1 doesn't open as fast. Bigger photos appear blurry (but when I zoom in they are not) many filters are slower. Very annoying. Nothing else has changed on my computer, just the graphics card. Here are my specs (I know I need more RAM and have been considering an upgrade there but am not sure if I need to ditch my current video card as well)

That said, a problem that can happen with a video card switch is that drivers get left in the system from the old one.
Maybe it would be a good start in diagnosing this for you go to into the Help - System Info menu, copy the data in the whole first section, and post it here.

Premeire CS6 moving Extremly Slow/Laggy
The title says it all, and this is extremly fustrating. Im in the middle of a project in premeiere CS6 and it moves so slow and unresponsive I cant possible even finish. Is there some sort of solution, I get the exact same results on 3 Mac computers. An iMac 27in iMac 21inch and Macbook Pro. Turn on and off open GL nothing works on all systems. CS5.5 worked like a charm. Any solutions, or is it off to final cut?

CS6 Photoshop Wacom Tablet Help!
Obviously heading an IT department, I know I am not a graphics designer nor would I ever claim to know enough to be even dangerous.
We are finalizing a monster PC build with all the bessl and whistles for our Marketing Director who lives by Adobe Creative Suite. We have installed CS6.
My question is in regards to Wacom tablets ( which he has never used previousloy)
There is a BIG diffrence in price, and being a beginer tablet user (and me being WAY over budget.. As in I have more in his PC than I have in some servers..) What do I need to be aiming at? A bamboo or a new Intuos?
If I go bamboo I can get the largest, if I go Intuos I can go the smallest...
What is the diffence between the two different Wacom tablet series anywho?
PS.. I wanted to add that I am posting it here because as some of you can imagine, corp. doesn't get everything you graphic gurus want.. This designer at our office is a really neat person and has always wanted a tablet.. I want to surprise him with one that I can afford from my budget and really need some direction.. I went back to the store after my first post and looked again and am beyond confused at the differnces between the largest bamboo and smallest intuos5 besides the size difference..

Interestingly, a lot of answers imply "Bamboo for personal, Intuos for professional".
Not having used a tablet myself, but interested, some time ago I looked around pretty seriously and asked questions here. I ended up deciding at the time that I wanted an Intuos 4. Never did get one (my budget was eaten up by other things). I see Wacom has come out with an Intuos 5 now.

Why is InDesign CS6 loading extremely slow????
The company I work for has bought several licensed copies of the creative suite and ever since it was installed; the machine with the following specifications that I use:
CPU: i7-3770 @ 3.4 (4 core, 8 threads, 8mb cache)
O/S: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Built 7601)
RAM: 8GB DDR3
V/C: Radeon HD 5450
HDD: 60GB OCZ-Vertex 3 SSD (Primary)
HDD: 1x 2TB + 1 x 1TB SATA 3 drives.
Approximately 3 weeks ago, the machine became unresponsive due to a Photoshop CS6 64-bit issue along with Internet Explorer. At which point, I had to kill the process in the Task Manager; and ever since then, it has not been the same since.
All 64-bit applications for Adobe Creative Suite, take so long to open; that I can go and get a cup of coffee and come back only to find that it is still bloody loading. If I load for example, Photoshop 32-bit edition, it loads almost immediately. This is good at first, however as soon as I use the drag drop feature as I always do. Especially when I need to crop a high resolution image, regardless of whether the high resolution image (8MB to 16MB) stored locally or on a server; the application takes for ever and ever to load the damn image.
The amount of memory allocated to the application, starts at just over 125MB and then spikes up to 1.5TB; at which point still does not do any thing except sit there idling for no apparent reason.
This morning, opening InDesign CS6, took approximately 10 minutes to open itself. My recollection last week, I had closed all files before closing the application itself. So why the hell is it taking this bloody long to do so.
I have checked the Adobe Application Manager and everything is up to date. Microsoft Windows 7 is up to date. So what else is the problem. Could it be the services that is causing the issue?

Thanks in advance.Before I deleted the fonts, I checked the time date stamp. As I also use Corel Draw X6, a program call "Bit Font Navigator" which loads third party fonts and gives a listing; where you can choose which fonts you want and they can be installed. The installation is only by shortcut, so the actual fonts themselves, are not actually sitting in the Fonts directory; unless of course you physically copy the whole thing into it which is rather stupid.
Every time I load the system (fresh boot), there is an indicated time date stamp on the very day in which it automatically loads the fonts from an external source into the Windows Fonts directory.
I only checked the latest dates and subsequently deleted the fonts of that particular grouping; which was 29/04/2013. I didn't touch anything else. As for Tahoma font, I checked that too. It shows the date as 11/05/2011. Just to reiterate, I only touched the fonts that had the year 2013 in them.
After a reboot thereafter, that's when I noticed these further issues.
Hmm..... I think it is possible I might have deleted Verdana by mistake, since the time date stamp for that is 03/04/2013. In which case might explain the circumstances I experienced. -
Macbook Pro running extremely slow, help?!
Of course, the curse of finals week strikes. As of a few days ago I woke up one morning and my computer started running really slow. It takes forever to restart, open tabs on the internet, switch between applications... everything. I always get the spinning wheel and it drives me insane. I have been reading a few posts, but I think it would be better to get some knowledge on what is actually wrong with my laptop. Any help is very much appreciated... coming from a stressed out college student!!!

InDesign CS6 - Running Extremely SLOW
Been using CS6 for over a year and just started acting up. Click to use T tool, it has to think about it for :30 seconds. HELP. My IT informs me that I have more than enough RAM 12GB. HELP. I need to get some work done!
Yes - for the most part. I ended up taking all the impage links and saving them into the brochure's working file folder. It did not have to search various drives for image.

MacBook Pro 13" extremely slow, help!
I bought the mac last summer (2012) and it's been flawless up until a short while ago. It's an i5 with 4gig ram and 500 HDD.
Of the two USB ports, the one closest to me stopped working less than a month ago (this is not the issue I want help with though, just mentioning it as it might be related somehow). A week later, I upgraded to Mavericks and everything remained the same. Computer was fine (except the usb port), then one night the computer crashed while I was using a music production program (which I've been using daily since I got the mac).
This is when the mac started going slow.
Starting the computer up now took 4-5 minutes and there was no point trying to open an application. I managed to back everything up (though it took about 15 minutes just to select all files, then two-three hours to move them to the external drive) and started the process of reinstalling OS X. I formatted the drive, which was a fairly quick process. Installing OS X however, took about 12-13 hours! So yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the hard drive.
After OS X was installed, the computer was faster than before but still slower than pre-Mavericks. Even though I just formatted everything, I decided to repair permissions on the drive and it repaired 4 errors. It didn't make the computer much faster though. I can however use the computer now, but it is still laggy and sometimes slow. Booting up the computer now only takes 1-2 minutes.
So what do you guys think? Is it definitely a hardware problem or is there something I haven't done that might fix it? As I said it's faster than before I reinstalled the OS X but I still won't be able to use a music production app, it is too slow for that.

1. Go to Finder> Click on "Go" from Menu Bar at the top of the Computer Screen> Select Computer from Drop Down Menu> Select Macintosh HD> Select /Library Folder> Select Caches Folder and Move it to Trash
2. Go back to "Go" in the Menu Bar at the Top of the Screen> Hold the Option Key on the Keyboard and select the Library Folder that appears under Home in the Drop Down Menu> Select Caches Folder and Drag to the Trash and select Merge
3. Go to Black Apple in the top left of the Computer Screen> Select System Prefrences from Drop Down Menu> Go To Users & Groups in fourth Row of Icons> Select Login Items at the top of the new Window> Clear out an unnecessary Programs by highlighting the Program and selecting the "-" at the bottom of the window next to the '+"
4. Go back to the Black Apple and then select Shutdown from the Drop Down menu
5. When Turning Computer Back on Boot into Safe Mode (Hold Shift Key after hearing the Startup Noise) Release Shift Key when you see Apple with Spinning Gear and Progress Bar underneath> Once at Login Screen Select shutdown Computer in Bottom Right of Screen
6. Now unplug any Preferral Devices (including Ethernet Cable, Keyboard, ext...) Take Plug out of the Back of the Computer this is known as reseting the SMC
7. Plug Everthing back in you unplugged, Turn on Computer, When you hear Startup Noise Hold Down all at the same time Command+Option+P+R, if you do this correctly the Screen should go Black, then White and make the Start up Noise Again, when you hear the Startup Noise for a Third Time, you can remove you hands from the Keyboard
8. Login like Normal
9. Continuation... If you have any Third Party Software such as Norton Anti Virus, MacKeeper (Malware), or any other types of Anti Virus software, Remove these from the Computer
10. If those Troubleshooting Steps should fail, Verify and Repair Disk from Recovery HD, Re Install OS from Recovery Partition as mentioned by Kappy, If you are running anything less than 6GBS of RAM, consider updating your RAM, if Re-Install does not Work, Make a back up of your Data, and then perform an Erase and Install -
Premiere Pro CS6 moving Extremly Slow, No solutions. I quit.
Im uninstalling this software and counting my losses. Not a professional editing platform. After hours of searching online there are no available solutions. And MANY others are experiencing the exact same thing as I am and Ive tried on 3 Mac computers all recent models and the same result. All of my computers are at least $2500 a peice and have the maximum amount of ram available and its not enough. Last year I edited an event with Premiere Pro CS5.5 with no problems, and this year the same event I have to start editing again from scratch because I cant even open it in CS5.5. Im a die hard Adobe customer but this really does it form me in terms of CS6 im OFFICIALLY DONE. I cant even finish a 3hr project that Ive been working on its that bad. Definantly not recomending this to ANYBODY that puts any sort of value on there time.
A lot of people are using Premiere and Mac successfully. Usually the more professional a user is the better they are able to keep there system up and tuned. One of the keys is having a dedicated edit system, getting any bugs ironed out then leaving it alone.
That's not to say that everything is rosy in Abobeland. The user forum is saturated with Mac users, which are a minority of users. One could expect an influx of questions from FCP refugees, but so many technical issues? One culprit most be the obvious overhead computing requirement to run Premiere efficiently. The lowballing of recommended system requirements listed in the adverts, courting Mac users whose macbooks and iMacs were not built for native HD editing have lead to a number of issues and disappointment.
And at the same time there seemed to be OS & software conflicts. Many Mac users were surprised that they experienced problems after upgrading their OS to Lion, even though CS 5 was designed for, and working on the previous operating system, and was released over a year before Lion.
I can't speak to your specific issue, but I wish you luck.
