CS6 Premiere Pro performance with Kona 3 on the PC?
I posted this a while back but never got any feedback so I am trying again
I switched from Mac to PC. I would like to hear from Premiere Pro CS6 users (PC) that also use the AJA Kona 3 systems. Are you getting good performance from the Kona 3 with the most current drivers? Why or why not?
Wow, so no folks here on a PC are using Kona 3, huh. Thats a surprise. I will wait to get some feedback from folks on the web before making the installation into the new HP Z820. No need to expend the energy if its not working right yet.

When is Adobe going to fix the problem CS6 Premiere Pro has with AVCHD files?
First they wanted me to reformat all my files from .mts to .mpg thru format factory, but that is to much time wasted and lose of quality! Then they directed me to a patch by Sony, but that didn't work either. They need to fix this!

Can't import uncompressed AVI files in CS6 Premiere Pro
Hi!
I'm using Adobe CS6 Premiere Pro on Windows 7 Pro (64bit) but can't import uncompressed AVI files.
I get the error that the file has no valid fomat or is damaged, but I can watch the avi videos without a
problem with the media player.
I also have CS4 installed, with CS4 I can import this files.
What can I do to solve this?AVI is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

How does Premiere Pro perform on a Dell XPS 15?
Trying to establish if Premiere Pro (via a full subscription of the Creative Cloud suite for $49.99) is worth the investment when I'm working on a Dell XPS 15 laptop with 16 GB of RAM (rest of the hardware is standard top-of-the line XPS 15 options, i.e. quad core processor, NVIDIA video card, etc). I've been using Adobe Premiere Elements and a ton of 4K GoPro footage with some pretty meaningful slowdown when rendering. This could be par for the course, but I'd just as quickly go with another video editing program like Sony Vegas for my purposes and pay far less, but of course also get far less in terms of Adobe power.
Also - this laptop does not have a 7200rpm hard drive (the one that isn't solid state, which is 32GB by itself). It's 1TB but likely in the high 5's instead...not sure if I can use a faster external hard drive and meet optimal spec requirements to preserve video as much as possible. Please advise. My inquiry is actually to the reverse of your suggestion; I have the laptop, but I hadn't yet purchased the Adobe Cloud Creative Suite. Though I went ahead and did so this week. The XPS 15 was chosen for its lightweight aluminum / carbon fiber construction, Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, 1TB of hard drive space for ample storage, and the SSD for active programs so things are quick to launch. I've had very few complaints with the laptop itself, having used only Adobe Premiere Elements (which came with the purchase) and the GoPro app for developing a few videos of aerial GoPro footage. It has served its purpose; I'm not a professional doing this work to sustain my living - it's a hobby to me, though I aim to have the best possible quality in all things when possible. Granted, I could've spent the same amount of money, or perhaps a little more, and gotten the best and fastest desktop arrangement money could buy for my purposes with ample more power and performance, but I wanted 100% mobility for all my equipment (drone, camera, and video production unit). Gives-and-takes in everything, of course - the biggest consequence has been rendering, but in this forum that probably goes without saying, and though not awesome, it's livable even when using GoPro 4K codec as BartonGarrett256 wisely mentions.
Nevertheless, Adobe Premiere has been doing well so far...certainly better than the Elements application in terms of both performance and capability (naturally). I haven't gotten to After Effects yet, though I do love having that at my whim with my Cloud subscription which is, to me, well worth what you get for what you pay if you know you'll be using multiple applications for the foreseeable future. The days of paying hundreds of dollars for one application are ending, as well they should in my opinion.
Though I'm open-minded to what one might suggest for the most powerful laptop on the market - 8 core is honestly news to me. My XPS was purchase in December 2014 and it had the best processor Dell could offer with the XPS model. I almost went with an Alienware, but it would've been a lot bulkier, and the display was archaic in a world moving more and more toward crystal clarity wherever possible.
One other setback I would love advice / opinions on - the 1TB drive that came with the XPS is not 7000+ in speed...I recall it being in the 5's. Can I remedy this with an external drive that does have the higher speeds cited as optimal for the Adobe video editing suite? -
Exporting CS6 Premiere Pro Sequence in AE
I'm trying to export a CS6 Premiere Pro sequence through CS6 After Effects and some of the content that is present on my timeline is coming up with colour bars or just black when I'm trying to export from AE..... how can this be resolved?
Thanks for your help Rick!
I'm working on a 2008 Mac Pro with Dual Quad Core 2.8Mhz Processors and 32GB RAM.
The sequence is .r3d 4K FF and the footage on the timeline is a mix of 4K FF r3d footage, some Animation codec (graphics from Cinema 4D exported via After Effects), some up-scaled 1080p and some 5k FF r3d footage.
The strange thing is that when I play the timeline in Premiere it all works fine but when I try to export the sequence in AE, that's when content shows up as colour bars or just black. It's all there though. I've tried disconnecting the media and reconnecting it, I've copied and pasted it to a new timeline, I've nested it as a sequence and tried exporting that but each time it's the same result.
I was thinking that I should uninstall CS6 and then try and reinstall it, but my Mac Pro I'm working off isn't connected online. I'd have to relocate the tower to where the internet modem is and I currently have a broken leg so it's not really possible.
Any other suggestions for getting this to work? -
Downloaded CS6 premiere pro trial
I have download the Adobe Download Assistant. I can sign in with Adobe ID. The install for CS6 Premiere Pro after an hours said it was install successfully but I don't see a desktop icon nor do I have an entry in the Programs list. I have restarted the computer.
After the download is complete it will launch the installer which you would still need to complete. Do you know where you download the install files too? Have you tried invoking the installer again? Finally which version of Windows are you using?

Can I remove CS6 Premiere Pro 32-bit?
I seem to have both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of CS6 Premiere Pro installed. I'd like to remove the 32-bit if I can to free up space on my SSD. Win7 OS. Any ideas? Thanks.
you can but you may find some things only work with your 32bit program so it's better to wait a few weeks/months to see if the 64bit program has everything your need.

Can't get my MacBook audio to record audiio in CS6 Premiere Pro ?
Can't get my MacBook audio to record audiio in CS6 Premiere Pro ?
Am i missing something here ? It's telling me Premiere Pro is using the aggregate audio device,
though not sure what that means ?
thanks! If your model number isn't showing up in Printer Setup then you need to install the drivers. After you do that you should be able to setup your printer and print OK. Make sure Appletalk is checked in Airport in your Network Pref Pane.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 with Blackmagic Multibridge Pro
After having upgraded to Premiere CS5 and Blackmagic 7.6.4, I am experiencing a short list of undesirable video playback results (that were not present in CS4 with Blackmagic 7.6). The issues are likely specific to Blackmagic with Premiere, so I'll spare everyone the details for now -- If anyone out there is using a similarly equipped system, please chime in--I'd like to run some of this past you, see if you're having the same issues and troubleshoot either way. Thanks!

Still, there are always quirks and curiosities specific to each editing system and its unique configuration, so I'll just bump this thread with an open invitation to anyone--with problems, questions, kudos or curiosities--regarding the use of Adobe Premiere Pro software with Blackmagic Design hardware.

Premiere Pro Timeline with 3 video channels and 4 audio channels, when clip dragged onto timeline audio channels change to 8 channels. Audio track mixer changes too. I edit undo to remove dragged clip and it reverts back to 4 channels of audio on timeline as does the audio mixer? Any ideas as to why the audio channels and mixer changes?
you can check the clip you are dragging to the timeline, if it has 8 tracks... can check by right clicking it in the project bin, choose modify, audio channels.

How much does Premiere Pro and After Effects rely on the hard drive it's installed on?
This may be a really dumb question, but how much does Premiere Pro and After Effects rely on the hard drive it's installed on if all your video files, assets, disk cache, etc are on different drives than the one the program itself is installed on?
The reason I am asking is that I currently have a "relatively" slow Sata II SSD for my C drive that has just my OS (windows 7 64bit) and programs (adobe editing programs, no games) installed on it and nothing else. All of the files used in my projects are saved on either a very fast Sata III SSD or a slower HDD depending on what the files are. For example, disk cache on the Sata III, stills on the HDD.
Being cyber monday I have the opportunity to buy another very fast Sata III SSD to replace my current Sata II SSD C Drive (just OS and programs). Both synthetic and real world benchmarks show a near double in performance. I just want to know if anyone thinks the upgrade is even worth it because for all I know there won't be any increase in performance since no videos, still, cach, etc will be stored on the C Drive.
The alternative is to get a second monitor because I currently only use one 21" monitor.
I suppose another alternative would be to not buy anything on the cyber monday deals and just save money for something else.
Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Thanks Alex! I think you are right about not being able to notice the difference between the SSDs. I ended up finding a deal to get about $80 off a great monitor that I've been looking at for a while and decided to pull the trigger on it. I thought about it and realized that there have already been a bunch of times where I want to watch a tutorial on youtube and follow allong in AE or PrePro, but have to keep switching windows. I also frequently want to have my video preview on a separate monitor so I can have a taller timeline window. This monitor will help a lot with that. Thanks again for your help!

Color on exported video on Adobe Premiere Pro Is a bit off from the original source video
I have both Cyberlink powerdirector 10.0 and Adobe Premiere Pro C6
I noticed that adobe premere cs6. when exporting the video.. colors are a little off.. never matching the same tones as the original
source
i took a screenshot so you can see what i mean.. Notice Adobe is a a little mor orange. is there a way to fix this? Cyberlink powedirector always matches the source color when you export it. except Adobe Premiere Pro CS 6
i have windows 7 64 bit (Nvidia GeForce GTX 670MThanks for answering. I ddi notice different media players show colors different. But on the screenshot i just showed you.. all 3 are from the same media player.
For some reason everytime i export a video from Adobe premiere pro the color is never the same as the source on media player. I tried it on 4 different videos. Other software programs like cyberlink power director export the video with no color change.
1)The original source from the picture is a mpeg-4 (avc)
2)i always use wmv codec to encode all videos. So the shot from Premiere Pro was using WMV codec. and the other shot (cyberlink powerdirector) was also wmv to encde.
3) I even tried to see if maybe i used a different video format to encode it would fix the slight color change. like h264 and mov.. but nope still same issue
4) I did what you told me to show the source and exported video on Adobe Premiere and really weird. the exporterd video from Adobe Premiere now shows the exact color as the source.. but the exported video from Cyberlinkpowerdirector shows the color a bit different.

Premiere Pro is not reading all of the video content in my AVCHD clip. I know this because my computer plays all of the content through Preview, so the information is on the card. How do I get Premiere to read all of the content?
First, AVCHD isn't just "one" clip, it splits the video & audio into several files each per clip, typically with randomly generated names. The only way they "play" correctly is if the software doing so is able to read from the data file ...in a different folder ... the information that X clip is actually A, B, D, #@, and 456 video clips and TR, #r54, and ert$%4 audio clips. The next "clip" is ... and on and on. So both rapid access to the video files AND that database file are necessary to play the files back, or do anything else with them.
VLC is a fairly decent but simple playback tool. It's nowhere near as complicated nor demanding in its "relationship" with those clips as an NLE like PrPro, which will be trying to do more reading & writing.
Further, many of the preferences in PrPro are natively set so that it writes project, cache, preview, & database files next to the footage. So ... if it doesn't have both a fast enough connection with the data AND space for putting all of it's own stuff there, it tells you it can't work the file.
Therefore ... the need to have the complete data from the card in the exact same folder structure it was in ON the card copied to a "local" hard drive.
