Does it give you a message that the serial number is invalid? Are you able to register the serial number successfully at http://www.adobe.com/? Which operating system are you using? Finally do you have any other Adobe software installed on your computer?

I am unable to reinstall Photoshop CS6 (I do have the serial number) on my Macbook Pro 10.9.5 (Mavericks os). and am getting the message "Installation on case-sensitive volumes is not supported. Please choose a different volume for installation." I am further told that "Adobe apps cannot be installed on case-sensitive drives, you need to Install the product onto an HFS+ or HFSJ non-case-sensitive drive."
What I don't understand is this: I originally bought and installed Photoshop CS6 back in March 2013, and it worked fine. Yesterday my hard drive had to be replaced and my computer person salvaged as much of what was on it as he could, but now I have to reinstall Photoshop. 1) Why did it work before and it's not working now? 2) Is there anything I can do that does not involve reformatting the hard drive?

It means what it says. The "computer person" formatted it wrongly/ unsuitably. it needs to be formatted again.

If you registered it, go to http://supportprofile.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. It should also be on the box it came in if you still have it.

Photoshop elements 10 won't accept my serial number on mavericks macbook pro just purchased

I just got a new macbook pro and tried to put my old photoshop elements10 on it. I used the student/teacher serial number sent to me by adobe when I purchased that. It installed ok and seems to run all the tutorials but when I try to actually edit it demands my serial number which does not fit in the slots and then says its not good. Since I can't seem to find an adobe contact, I wonder if any Mac users have figured this out.

Like the more expensive big brother Photoshop, PS Elements must be deactivated on an older computer before you erase the drive, or uninstall the app. You can use the serial number twice, but if you forget to do the deactivation, Adobe's servers are still counting that install against you. So if you've already installed it twice along the way, that would be one reason you can't use the number again. See here for some possible help.

It sounds like what you're seeing is a malicious pop-up on the web. Do you have anti-virus software of some kind installed? If not, note that that's the only thing that can scan your computer for malware. A web site cannot do that, but it's trivial to display a pop-up in your web browser that looks very official, telling you viruses have been found and that you need to install their software to remove them. That's a classic malware trick... the software the pop-up wants you to install is the malware.
Can you provide a screenshot of the window warning you that you have malware? Press command-shift-4, then the space bar, then click the window. The screenshot will be placed in a file on your desktop. Add it to a post here using the camera icon in the post editor's toolbar. (Don't drag it into the post or copy and paste it... that will appear to work for you, but we won't be able to see it.)

Serial Number of my Macbook Pro is registered to another Apple ID

I tryed to register my Macbook Pro in my support profile and found out that:
"According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID. If you have more than one Apple ID, log in to My Support Profile with that Apple ID to see your other registered products. Not sure if you have another Apple ID? Find out."
I don't have any other Apple ID for sure. I've bought my macbook in used condition through some not official organization, that sells used computers. And there is no way to find out former owner.
What shall i do?

There is the remote possibility that you don't have your browser cookies enabled.
Have you TRIPLE-checked your serial # using the "About This Mac" application/ click on "More Info", then looked under "Hardware Overview:" for Serial Number (system): _______________?

My MacBook Pro was stolen yesterday and it contains a lot of personal & professional data.
I reported to the Police & they asked me to provide them with it's serial number. Unfortuantelly i don't have any paper that has it's serial number !!!
My MacBook is registered with Apple. Is there a way to get it's serial number if i have the userName and password of it's registration ?
Can anyone advice how to get it's serial number other than the usual way ?

You can try calling Apple but I don't think they will give out serial numbers for products, even if you claim to be the owner of them. There's just no way to verify over the phone that you are the original, rightful owner. But you can always try
Also, Do you have credit card receipts from the time you purchased the MacBook? If so, go to the retailer and see if they can produce the receipt of purchase. This should have a serial number on it, or at least a reference.

Is it true that it is unsafe to give out the serial number of a macbook pro?

I'm looking to buy a Macbook Pro from someone who has listed theirs in a local ad. I asked for the serial number and he said that is unsafe to give that out. He gave me an expiry daate instead (July 11, 2013).
Is this true?

I consider it incumbent upon the seller to prove that it is his to sell. Acceptable proof might be an original invoice or bill of sale, AppleCare agreement, original packaging, or some combination of these. Certainly he paid for it somehow, and even if he did not retain the orginal sales invoice it should be easy for him to retrieve a credit card statement or the like.
By providing the serial number at least he is at least making a good faith effort toward selling it. A seller should expend effort in assuring the buyer, not the other way around.
The most important thing for you is to assure yourself you are not buying stolen goods.

Missing control panel in illustrator CS6 on new macbook pro

I just installed CS6 on a brand new macbook pro and the top control panel is missing. I am particularly interested in the dimensions of an object and x and y location. This is what my control panel looks like now - no alignment options, x/y locations, dimensions, etc. . . Please help!

What happens if you select an object?
If it refuses to show up in the right way, you may try the list (5) is unlikely); you may decide to go straight to 6).
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Why is my new macbook Pro 2012 running slow

I bought my Macbook pro a couple days ago, I have made all the updates to it and is now freezing and showing the pinwheel all the time. I ran this computer side by side with my old 2011 macbook pro and this "new" one is running much slower.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issues?

I am also so dsappointed of buying macbook pro for the first time,and to think it was just almost a month ago....I am worried about the over heating issue,battery span that never lasprot that long as what the advertisement says...I really take extra care of this gadget because it is my first time having this so expenssive lappy...Ooohhh before I forget,my gadget is Macbook Pro 13 with memory of 8gb 1600 MHz DDR3..processor 2.9GHz Intel core I7...the only heave application tha I downloaded was the Mountain Lion I think ,and it was updated now from 10.8.1 - 10.8.2 ..maybe the next heavy app is the google chrome...and the rest is those apps that I bought from the Apple store that didnt cost me $10...before buying this unit ,I am using a lappy from Gateway with windows OS that runs slowly because of maybe being so old...lol I am using it for almost 3yrs because I only bought it from a junk shop alternately with Dell desktop thats so cheap,I only bought it almost $200 from a junkshop still.now after learning to fix and upgrade computers,I upgraded the DELL desktop from 1GB to 2GB,but I upraded my hardrive from 80gb to 1000gb...now I did test booting the 2,the desktop and this new Macbook Pro.my dell really boot so fast half more than this macbook pro...when I am downloading videos,really the Dell desktop have the fastest loading and downloading...I am not kidding and telling lies...I am so shock to know the real truth....I am sorry, but i is really true...But I promise my self to take care of this gadget because its my first time to have a genuinely brand new gadget and so expenssive...if no one believe this, i will upload a video on my youtube accnt just to prove that I am not telling a lie...oooh before I forget...just to prove that this gadget is geguine and new, here is the Serial Number of my Macbook Pro 13 which I posses almost a month now.. Why is my new macbook pro running slow?

I bought a new macbook pro in october 2012. It has always run very fast without a problem.
Yesterday i noticed when i opened up apps the app symbol would bounce in the dock for a good 20 - 30 seconds and i would get the spinning beachball icon. I have repaired disk and disk permissions but this has not helped. I havnt downloaded any new apps or anything and my virus software says there is no virus.
Please help???????
