CS6 smart collections quit working

Bridge CS6 smart collections worked last week, but this week are empty. I've verified that there *are* still files/photos which should match the criteria. Troubleshooting didn't help (see screen shot); both "include" boxes are checked; and newly-created smart collections don't work either. Why?
I'm using CS6 Extended (64 bit) running on Win 7 64-bit, both with all applicable updates. The only thing which I know changed is that Microsoft released a few Windows updates.

Curt: Thanks very much for your reply. I hadn’t tried that exact route, but I had tried Edit > Preferences > Cache > Purge cache. No success.

The winning reply – from NAPP’s Peter Bauer via its 1-on-1 help desk for members (you too can join, and membership rocks!) – was the following procedure. It worked like a charm.

Peter Bauer @ the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) had the winning solution:
--Open Bridge.
--Use the Keywords panel menu command Export to save your keywords (not in the Bridge or Photoshop folders or their support folders).
--Quit Bridge.
--Position your fingers over the Control-Alt-Shift keys.
--Launch Bridge from the Start menu.
--Immediately after launching Bridge (not before) press and hold down the three keys.
--When the small dialog box appears, release the keys and elect to replace the Preferences and purge the Cache.

Reading Advanced Metadata in Smart Collections, not working in Bridge CS6

In Bridge CS5 you could make an Smart collection that were looking for: All metadata > contains > "here we add a value from a metadata only visible from the Advanced tab in File info"
But this nolonger works in CS6.
Although I can go to File info and see the metadata value that are visible from Advanced. But the option All metadata, clearly doesn't support the advanced metadata in the file in CS6.
Could this be a bug in CS6?

If any one like to try this yourself and get same or other result, please let me know!
Otherwise this must be a bug to report to Adobe.
I don't have CS5 installed anymore but CS6 is still present while I use Bridge CC for my daily workflow (MacPro MacOSX 10.8.5).
I first copied 4 DNG files from my main folder to a subfolder. Those files I added a name to the IPTC extension persons name and saved.
Checked and this name shows in the IPTC extension persons name field in Metadata panel as well as in Advanced Tab in File Info IPTC Extended Properties / IPTC4xmpExt:PersonInImage(Bag container).
I closed the subfolder and used the smart collection icon to bring up the Find window.
I then selected All metadata and filled in the persons name, had subfolders and non indexed already included and put the source field to the main DNG folder.
The result was almost instant with the 4 files showing.
I then quitted Bridge CC and started Bridge CS6
Since I had not used this for a while and my main folder contained 4500 DNG I set the cache quality icon to embedded only. Selected the same folder and followed the same procedure as in CC.
Naturally it took a bit longer because the files needed to be indexed first, yet after this the result was still the same, the 4 DNG files with the persons name showed in the smart collection.
So on my behalf I can't reproduce your problem and for me it is not a bug also I'm afraid.

My new iPad smart case quit working.

I have the new iPad and got a smart case to protect it. It is only two months old and the smart case already quit working. This is disconcerting.

Check the settings ... Settings>General>iPad Cover Lock/Unlock. Make sure that it is turned on.

Bridge CS6 - Smart Collections Different Result Everytime

I recently was using a Smart Collection to review selects and I would come up with different results as I openend and closed folders that were a part of Smart Collection file base. Its as if my files hadn't been correctlty indexed or were not being indexed until I opened a folder and selected a file to view.
Is there a way to make sure my files are being indexed or is reseting the Prefs the only way to do this?

You can either visit each folder and wait until the spinning arrow is finished indexing, which takes awhile.
Another way is to do a search at the start of the directory (it searches down) and check include non-indexed files. You can see what folder it is on in the lower left corner. THis will take awhile also, but you can do the search when you are not using the computer and just let it run. If you have to stop it before it is done, note where it is at and then start search there next time.

Adobe CS6 Master Collection Stopt working today

I have a license for a year now and everyting works fine. As of today it stopt working. I get the message Logon required.
How can i reactivate my serial number so everything is working normal.

Serial code CS6 Master Collection not working

Due to some previous downloads (legal) of Microsoft Office 2013, I am now experiencing the issue that my Master Collection has fallen back into a trial version and has now expired. After finally finding my serial codes it now tells me that my codes are not valid. This is needless to say,extremely irritating! I need this resolved.

My Smart Collections in FCP X Are Not Working

I'm running Final Cut Pro X 10.1.1 on a new 2013 Mac Pro. For some reason I am not able to get my smart collections to work. After creating a smart collection and naming it b roll, I proceed to label clips b roll, but they are not showing up in the smart collection. Does anyone have any idea why this wouldn't be working?

Smart Collection showing wrong photos

I have built a smart collection that is for my photos without a title, but the photos with titles are showing up also. The condition I use is "title doesn't contain words." Can any one help with this? Do I need to add other conditions? I'm not using any of the conditions in the "find bar" at top of Library Module. I'm trying to build my own workflow using Smart Collections.

I don't have the option of "title dosn't contain words", my option is "Title" and "doesnt contain", i.e. without the word "words". There is an option "contains words" but not "doesn't contain words".
I have the same smart collection that works well. My parameters are like this:
You could also use lower case letters in the third field.
You don't need the first two lines. They constrain the smart Collection to a certain folder and image files that are not JPG.
PS. Oh, I see. You put "words" in the third field? That doesn't work. Then all images with titles that doesn't contain the word "words" will be displayed - probably all.

Smart Collection by Collection Sets?

Quick question on creating a Smart Collection within a Collection Set:
Here's the deal:
I have a collection set. In it, I have a collection of about 358 photos. From there, I rated the photos. I then tried to create a Smart Collection from within that Collection Set, searching for photos that are 3 stars or above as my only criteria. I targeted the Collection Set as the place where the Smart Album should be created. (So it's Collection Set > Collection and Smart Collection)
The issue is, with 3 stars and above being the only criteria selected, it is picking 3 stars and above from across my entire library, (returning about 17,000 photos that meet this criteria).
I only want "3 stars and above" from this particular collection set, but without having to add additional criteria (I am coming from Aperture, and this was easy to do by "Project." )
Is there a way to do this in Lightroom per collection set? I added a keyword as an additional criteria, and with 2 rules, it works the way I would like, but I really was hoping that Smart Albums could search by Collection Set and not across the entire library.
Any tips?

Smart Collections always work on the entire catalog. You'd have to include the collection name as a additional criteria to achieve what you want.

A puzzle - smart collections - develop preset, numbers doesnt add up

I was playing with the smart collection tonight, and specifically wanted to find out how the "Develop preset" smart collection would work. In this process I made a smart collection as the below.
Match = Any
Develop preset = Default
Develop preset = Specific
Develop preset = Custom
In other words a smart collection with all the different possibilities for Develop preset.
This smart collections says it has 2048 pictures. In my catalog I have a total of 2044 pictures. When I go into the collection and select all pictures it select 2044.
Why does it comes up as 2048?
To figure out the reason for the difference of 4, I then tried the different combinations of develop preset and found out that the virtual copies gets registered as both "Default" and "Custom". I have 3 virtual copies in the catalog so even if this is the reason for the mismatch I still have a difference of 1 I cant explain.
Any one who has a logic explanation to this or is it a bug?
Edit: I looked a bit further, and can see that at the when I go to the end of the grid in the smart collection I can see the numbers 2045 - 2048 but there is no picture here, and furthermore in the filmstrip there is 4 grey boxes at the end, but no picture shown in them. So seems to be an error, so question is there a way I can get rid of these "ghost" pictures.

Smart Collection showing incorrect contents

Another oddity with custom metadata
I have several Smart Collections set up, filtering on custom metadata. I'm having a problem with one in particular which, after updating an unrelated field, shows the wrong contents.
It filters on two string fields and an enumerated field:
- string Reference contains "0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ..."
- string Status doesn't contain "Copy"
- enum Licence is "Unset", where "Unset" is defined as "nil".
On loading Lightroom, this shows what it should. However, I also have a function called from a menu which updates a *different* enumerated field, setting it's value to one of nil, '0' or '1'. After running this function, this smart collection shows the same contents as another Smart Collection - coincidentally the next one in the list. The second filter is:
- enum Sync is "Yes"
- enum Sync is not "Unknown"
- string Status doesn't contain "Copy".
The additional "is not unknown" is needed because the first line returns images for both "Yes" and "Unknown" - data values "1" and nil respectively.
Looks to me as though there's a problem with smart filters and enumerated fields with nil values. Restarting Lightroom restores the contents of the first collection to what they should be.

Finding Virtual Copies in Smart Collections

Is there any way to find virtual copies in smart collections without using "copy name is not empty" ? Basically I am trying to use copy name as a version number for all images, include the base image which is the original. But this then makes it difficult to find the actual copies themselves. Any ideas?

The only caveat is that the metadata is not updated immediately, so you need to "manage" the metadata updating and/or your expectations.
Funny - I just ran into the need for this last night - I solved by making sure all virtual copy names were distinguishable from master copy names, still: because of Lightroom's text metadata processing shortcomings (e.g. space handling and "Big Mallard Ducks" bug), It really is best to have a yes/no rule.

Can't create Smart Collection, Save-Button doesn't work

i have the Problem that i can't create Smart Collection, the Save-Button doesn't work, the Smart-Collection Window stays open and nothing happens when i click the "save" button!
i use CC with a new installed W8 and all is up-to-date.

Just to clarify, Photoshop CC has not been released yet. It will come out on June 17.
What you have now is Photoshop 13.x as per the subscription model (»Abo«) and it's called Photoshop CS6. When Photoshop 14.x is released on June 17, then it will be called "CC".
It's not clear—at least to me—which images, if any, you have selected in Bridge when you hit the »Speichern« (Save) button.
Remember that a Collection is nothing more than a saved search, i.e. a saved collection of selected search results (hits).
Could you elaborate on what it is you want to save as a collection?
