CS6 startup takes 5 minutes
Hi, every time I need to start a CS6 project, it takes 5 minutes to open (counted). Once loaded (after 5 real minutes) I can work fine, but is very annoying every time I need to change a project.
It happens with all project, no matter if are big or very small.
If I create a new project with nothing, it startsup normaly, but if I load 1 single clip, It starts with the issue.
I formated an installed again with no result.
I have the last CS6 version instaled.
Any Idea?
Thanks

Gray screen on startup - Takes 6 minutes to boot up
When I power up my Macbook I get a gray screen and it takes 6 minutes to boot up.
With your configuration. ML will run no sweat.
The problem is that ML is available only as a download via Mac App store
And Mac App Store application is available only in Snow Leo
You might:
Ge t Snow Leo install disc for $29 from Amazon
Then buy ML from the APp Store
or
Get a USB isntall key for Lion (expensive),
then upgrade to ML
the former would be preferred.
UPgrade to ML from Snow Leo will cost ya $19

thanksi also noticed that anytime i press play the bottom left corner says calculating playback, which causes a slight delay in the audio playback. and it also a week ago kept making recorded audio delayed when it was played back. im using windows 7 on an HP pavillion G7 laptop. my setup goes this way:: NEUMANN TLM102 mic> FOCUSRITE ISA ONE PREAMP> PRESONUS EUREKA CHANNEL STRIP> PRESONUS AUDIOBOX USB INTERFACE> LAPTOP
Usually i dont have a problem, but lately everything is just delayed and i dont know why. ive inserted sum screenshots of the settings im currently using -

Monitor the system's temperature readings, open it up.
Your RAM will have a layer of dust on it, they attract dust, run very very hot.
Boost the fan speed.
Keep the case where it gets cool air and vented but no direct sun.
Pull the video card. The X1900 was a huge dust magnet and would clog and kill itself if you don't pull it out and get the dust out.
List the general hardware, too, from System Profiler but exclude the serial no. -

MBP Startup takes 6 to 7 Minutes after installation of 10.8.4
After the installation of 10.8.4, the boot-process gets stuck for about 5 minutes until the desktop appears.
As file vault is enabled it looks like this:
1. Power on
2. after a few seconds the Password dialog shows up
3. Spinning wheel for ~ 75 seconds
6. Grey background, Apple-Logo, Mouse Cursor in the upper left corner which can not be moved by the touchpad for ~ 5 minutes
7. Desktop appears after the 5 min.
What I did so far:
* All kinds of resets (DRAM ...)
* Removed and updated software like VMWare Fusion, Antivir-App and some other stuff.
* Checked file system rights and repaired it
* reinstalled 10.8.4 update
...that did not solve the problem, so i did a clean install:
* delete disk
* reinstalled 10.8.3 from the recovery partition
... at this point everything was back to normal ...
* installed 10.8.4 from the app store
... and voila, the problem is back (installation is still clean - I did not install additional software or change anything aside from creating the first user).
HW: 15" MBP Retina, 1,7 GHz i7, 16GB RAM, Early 2013, Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB.
Any Ideas?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged after the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful. -
Extracting classfiles on startup takes a long time
Hello,
When I start my Weblogic server, it now takes several minutes to startup. It
hangs for a long time with the line "extracting classfiles to .../_tmp_war_mydomain_app."
It only recently started doing this and I'm wondering if I've accidentally changed
something in my config.xml file to cause this. Can anyone help me understand
why it might suddenly be doing this?
Thanks a lot!
RockyThanks, Mark.
When you say the "System Classpath" do you mean the classpath that is specified
in my startWeblogic.sh script? What do you mean when you say my classes should
go in the application?
My environment is pretty simple. I'm on Solaris. I am using a content management
system - FatWire's UpdateEngine - running on WebLogic. I have a couple of servlets
in .../WEB-INF/classes and a jar file with some helper classes in .../WEB-INF/lib.
My files just handle security, some personalizaton, dynamic html page building,
etc. on top of the UpdateEngine product. I also have a couple of jar files that
help with some AS400 stuff I'm doing. Those are also in the .../WEB-INF/lib directory.
So what is WebLogic doing when it says, "Extracting classfiles ...?" Where should
my jar files be referenced if not in the classpath variable in startWeblogic.sh?
Thanks, again.

Imac takes 3 minutes to start up
Hi,
Exactly 2 days ago, my Imac 21.5-inch started to take 3 minutes to boot/start up. I bought it in Summer of 2011 and its been fast when booting up, it would takes less than 30 seconds to boot up, up till 2 days ago. I do not know what has happened, I have 4 GB's of RAM. I was running Lion up to the point till this happened and now today I installed Mountain Lion and I am running OS X 10.8.4 to see if it would fix it and it has not. I tried restarting the PRAM and that also did not work, any advice would be very helpful.
Thank you.

MacBook Pro (Late 2013) take 3+ minutes to boot.
Once booted, however, everything is normal. Everything opens instantly as it used to.
While trouble-shooting, I noticed that there were many (more than a 1000 messages saying ACL found but not expected at ....
I repaired them but doing another Verify saw them pop up again. I used ACLr8 and got rid of them fowever but this has had zero efffect on the boot time. Also, Disk Utility reports no errors.
I should also note that this is a refurbished model bought last week and I am running with a Time Machine nackup. It is a 512 GB SSD. The machine from which the backup deribed was a 256 GB SSD. I also reinstalled Mavericks. The "old" machine took about 15 seconds to boot.
Any ideas?

I wouldn't be worried about that bootup time. In the case of some Macs with Mavericks, startup takes about a minute, or at least in my case, so I don't think if it applies to the MacBook Pro with Retina display but it looks like OS X Mavericks has got a longer startup time -
Install Maverick and now When I turn off my mac air, takes 2 minutes. Why? As I can solve?
Hi Linda,
Unplugging it from AC power will drain the PRAM Battery in short order, thereby losing setting, like Monitor resolution.
You can test the Pram Battery by disconnecting from the Internet so Date/Time doesn't update before you see it, shutdown, unplug AC for a bit, startup & check Time.
In Sys Pefs>Displays, can you set the resolution? -
Hello and thank you for being available to receive this enquiry.
I like Mozilla.
I like Firefox.
In recent months I have experienced and accumulation of problems. Today (September 25th, 2011) I have set about trying to deal with them.
After consulting your Troubleshooting Section I have made a range of changes that I hope shall resolve problems like freezing, unresponsive scripts, non responding windows and browser crashes.
At the time of writing I have rebooted after making those changes so I have yet to discover whether they solve those problems.
However, I have chosen o write now as I already am re-experiencing the first problem I encounter when I boot my PC, i.e. Firefox takes three minutes at least to start after I click the icon. Once it has started, however, ne Firefox windows open promptly.
How do I solve this? I rememebr a time when Firefox opened with lightning speed whenever I clicked the icon.
Thank you for your valued help and interest.
Patrick O' D.Hello Patrick O' D,
In my experience t here are two different problems with the speed of firefox on startup
# your os and setup
# firefox - and exactly what you use with it
Some factors will be down to your OS and for instance what does start up initially, many of those factors will affect other programmes/applications and not only firefox.
Some other factors depend on Firefox and how you set that up, I always like to have the option to using Firebug but realise it cold clash with other software or slow down firefox startup so I only enable it as I need it. see for instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/performance/ -

Here is some output from the AIX machine primary LDAP ont1285.caas.com, secondary LDAP ont1158.caas.com both using port 389:
It appears that on startup the 4 J2EE Applications initiate a connection to the LDAP ont1285.caas.com to read their configuration data. I then hit a few pages with primary still connected. At that point we have 5 ESTABLISHED connections to ont1158.caas.com.389. Then at 15:37:49 I hit a page with primary LDAP unplugged from network. At 15:47:03 the JNDI Lookup call returns (code snippet below). A new connection goes to SYN_SENT state for about a minute and a half, then a connection to the secondary is ESTABLISHED.
Any suggestions on what can cause this delay or another method to call to timeout quicker?
Thanks,
REMWhile there isn't a timeout that can be made known to the JNDI/LDAP service provider, a timer can be
set by the application itself.
It might be useful to do something like below:
In your JNDI application you start the timer before the operation that need to timeout, for example:
class SimpleTimeKeeperTest {
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
TimeKeeper.start(5000);
// operation that needs a timeout
while(true) {
Thread.currentThread().sleep(10000);
class TimeKeeper extends Thread {
long timeout; // in milli seconds
long timerStart;
Thread parent;
TimeKeeper(long timeout) {
parent = Thread.currentThread();
this.timeout = timeout;
this.start();
public static void start(long timeout) {
new TimeKeeper(timeout);
public void run() {
timerStart = System.currentTimeMillis();
long waitTime = timeout;
while (waitTime > 0) {
try {
this.sleep(waitTime);
} catch (InterruptedException ie) {
// ignore and continue
waitTime = timeout - (System.currentTimeMillis() - timerStart);
System.out.println(waitTime);
parent.interrupt(); -

First, make sure the boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk preference pane. If it is, continue as follows.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
When i want to print a photoshop document it takes a long time for the dialogs box to show up and from there on every click takes five minutes for photoshop to react. It might hasve something to do with a print pofile I installed for a dye printer but I have deleted tha printer and stil have the problem. May-by som way to reset the printer prifiles but I have no clue on how to do this.
My default printer is HP photosmart 5180. It is a networkprinter
I think the problem started when I changed setting to use the ICC profile of the GX7000 Print Driver for ICC Profile
This printer is connected in a network at my job. It is connected with usb in the network.
I just was to reset the default color profile but I have no clue
In the printer dialog box I do not know if the printer or Adobe should manage the colors.
I do not need nice prints since I will not use my own laptop again for printing on the gelprinter. I just want to make a fast print as I could do normally.
Today I also discovered that Premiere Cs6 cannot open my photoshop files. It might be related.
Thanks for helping me. -
As above. Takes forever to boot, Painfully slow, low HD message despite showing over 600 GB available. Thanks.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Step 1
Select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the times of the log messages referring to boot times. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the time of the most recent boot when you had the problem. Post the messages logged during the time when you had the problem – the text, please, not a screenshot. For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time. If the problem is a crash or a shutdown hang, post the messages from before the boot time, when the system was about to crash or was failing to shut down.
Edit out excessive repeats and personal information, if any.
If the log doesn't go back far enough in time, scroll down in the Console file list to /private/var/log/system.log.0.bz2. Search the archived log, and if necessary the older ones below them, for the same information.
Step 2
Do the same with kernel.log.
Step 3
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please do not post shutdownStall or hang logs – they're very long and not helpful.
