CS6 updates and Mac write permissions

I have CS6 on a 2008 MacBook Pro and a 2010 iMac. I went to retrieve the recent update today and all went well on the MacBook Pro. However, on the iMac, I keep getting an error message that says that write permission needs to be given to the file path shown. I have checked the file path and all permissions are in order. I have checked the same file path on the Mac Book Pro and the two files paths contain the same permissions. So I am at a loss to solve this problem. Any suggestions?

Please note that the file path noted in the error does not exist. There is no library file under the user file denmaudes. To get to Application Support, I follow the route Mac/Library/ Application Support/Adobe. Once there, the permissions have been changed to read and write and the Apply to enclosed has been done. The result is the same. No update is possible.
If the file path name is correct, then I cannot find it.
At this point, should I just de-install CS6 and re-install?

  • Photoshop CS6 updated and lost the ability to open DICOM files

My photoshop CS6 updated and I lost the ability to pen DICOM files (dcm file extension). any help on how to get it back? or should I just uninstall and re-install the entire program?

That certainly sounds like bogus software. I'd get rid of it (and do a clean reformat/reinstall of everything in case it has planted some malware in your system).

  • Conflict - CS6 updater and CC installer/updater

    Hi Folks,
Anyone else have this problem? I installed CC on my iMac with CS6. Now in the menu bar I have both the icon for the CS6 updater and that for the CC installer/updater. The CS6 updater shows an update is ready. That icon gives me only one choice, Open updater, and when I do, the CC installer/updater opens. But the CC installer/updater shows no new update. I am attaching a screenshot, the CS6 updater icon is the first on the left in the menu bar and the CC installer is immediately to its right.
Anyway to get rid of the CS6 icon? Anyway to resolve this conflict?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. I have done as ou instructed, but get a window in the CC installer/updater of "You Have No More Requests."
Still, that "1" remains next to the CS6 updater.
On my laptop, the CS6 updater went away, so I have only the CC icon. In my laptop's CC installer/updater this morning was an update for Premier CS6. No such update appears on my iMac in CC installer/updater even though the Premier CS6 is on that machine as well. The settings in Preferences for CC installer/updater are the same on both my MacBook Pro and my iMac.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tim

  • Conflict with CS6 updater and CC updater?

I'm on Mac and last week started up my CC membership and installed most of the software.  I also have CS6 installed and want to keep some of the apps around for now.  Today I am getting the familiar icon in my menu bar for CS6 that there are 2 updates available, but when I click on it to go to the updater, it just opens the CC updater which shows everything up to date.  So I don't know if I actually have an update or not.
IF the CC updater handles all the updates now for CC and CS6, how do I disable the CS6 service from running and popping up?  IF it doesn't, how the heck am I supposed to get updates when I can't even see what updates are actually available??
    Thanks.

  • Cs6 beta and mac v 10.6

on the install, I was told that I need mac os x 10.6 to install cs6 beta, do I have to update my mac to 10.6 or is there a way to bypass it.

Snow Leopard 10.6.x costs only $30 on a DVD from Apple.  Once you have that, the upgrade to 10.6.8 is free.
Of course you do need to have one of the newer Mac-Intel machines that actually support Snow Leopard.

  • I have iPhone 4 with newest update and Mac laptop with Snow Leopard and current version of iTunes. When I hook the phone up via USB, iPhoto pops open and reads the pictures for import, but iTunes doesn't do anything. Not seeing the device as a USB, either

Sorry, thought that was the body of the question, so the title is long. When I plug in my iPhone 4 (newest update) into my Mac laptop (current version of iTunes, Snow Leopard), it does not read the music, apps, etc., or open iTunes at all. It syncs the pictures, but it doesn't not show as a USB device, either. I have gone through the Troubleshooting assistant, restarting both comp and laptop, using different USB ports, etc. If it is of note, when I look at the option to Sync through Wifi on the phone, it says that sync will happen when my computer (by name) is "available." Not sure if this is a phone issue or laptop, leaning towards laptop, since iPhoto syncs. Willing to buy Lion if that will fix the problem! I would appreciate any help that is given.
    Regards,
    Lindsey

... my computer is still running Mac OSX 10.5, because I don't feel the need to buy a new laptop every 2 years.
You have written a very long story, and I admit I have skipped most of it.  But I think the question is you are on iOS 7, and cannot get the latest version of iTunes (11.1.5) on your computer because your OS X is too old.
The fact that you chose not to update your hardware does not mean you could not update your software!
OS X 10.5 is very old (about four years).  iTunes 11.1.5 (current version) requires at least OS X  10.6.8 to run.  Very likely, you could upgrade your computer's software to at least OS X 10.6.8 and then download the current iTunes on it.
    You would start here:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Then you would update the OS X 10.6 to OS X 10.6.8 over the air, then download iTunes (or update to a later OS X, as the current version is 10.9.2).

  • I just down loaded CS6 updates and saved them to my down load file , Now what

How do i get them to intergate into the CS6 programs like PS Flash and etc

    For Win:
After downloading a ".zip" file, use the operating system or a utility such as WinZip or PKZIP to access the file's contents.
Double-click the "AdobePatchInstaller" application and follow the on screen instructions.
    For Mac:
After downloading "dmg" file, Double click on the file to mount it..

  • CS6 Updater and CC 2014

I own a perpetual license to CS6, but I am confused by the upgrades to the updater. First it was renamed Creative Cloud, and now it is offering to download what appear to be new versions of the products (ie Photoshop CC 2014 as opposed to my Photoshop CS6). Is 2014 something that I am entitled to, or am I being sold something new on the fly?
    Bruce

Hi Bruce, if you have a perpetual version you only have trial access to the new CC 2014 version. But you can try it for 30 day's without additional costs. After this period you can decide. You can just remove the software again. You will never be forced to pay for it after the trial period. See: Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud / Common Questions

  • Software updates and Mac App store issue

    Hi,
I'm using v10.7.5 at the moment and i have problem getting software updates.
I've ran diagnostics and it checked that everything is ok. But I just cannot seem to get App Store to load and check for updates.
Its just indicated that it cannot connect to internet. But internet is workinkg just fine and I can check emails and download other stuff.
    Just cannot use App Store.
    What is wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

If I use an Apple ID to install the updates, does that mean that future updates will need to use the same ID?
    Yes.
Or can we use a generic ID for imaging - then end users can use their own Apple ID's for future updates?
    No.
Ian, you can only update apps from the same Apple ID they were originally purchased from. And purchases cannot be transferred from one account to another. That is Apple's policy.
