Cs6 user interface too small to use

I have just bought a new laptop with a high resolution screen - 2560x1440 - and like many others, I'm finding that the user interface for my cs6 software is too small to use.
I have just found the following advice for HiDPI devices on Adobe Illustrator Help:
For displays with resolution greater than or equal to 2560*1440, Illustrator can be launched at 1.5 times or 2 times scaled-up UI, depending on the OS text size.
I'm not very computer savvy, and I don't know how to do that - can anybody help please?
Judith

  • New laptop - cs6 too small to use!

I have just bought a new laptop with screen resolution of 2560x1440.
When I installed my cs6 software I found that it was too small to use!
Any help on what to do would be gratefully received - I don't mind if I have to purchase an upgrade if it enables me to use the software.
Would a second screen be any use, with a lower resolution?
    Thanks,  Judith

    Hi judith uk,
    Sorry for the trouble.
Photoshop CS6 does not support Hidpi monitors. We have to change the screen resolution to 1920*1080.
Please follow this Article from Microsoft to change the screen resolution: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/change-your-screen-resolution
    Thanks,

  • Can't scale the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too small to use.

How does one remedy this Adobe error message? "Can't scale the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too small to use." This one always gets me. I'll spend more time trying to find the object in question. This has happened in almost al versions, but this time it's CS5.

Hmm, possible solution would be to select your object(s), scale them to 90%, and then hit Cmd+D or Control+D to repeat the transformation. I read that sometimes if you scale down too much and too fast it can cause this message.
    Hope this works for you!

    Thanks for you reply.
But actually I don't want to show the \ (backslashes) to the user in my text box.
Ok let me elaborate this problem little more.
I want to show my text box as it is in normal editors e.g. In Matlab editor. There is a text box and on left side the gray bar shows the line numbers corresponding to the text. Further more i want that the user should be able to click on any line number to mark specific line as breakpoint (red circle or any graphical indication for mark).

  • CS6 Toolbars & Menu Too Small

I have just got a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and a 3200x1800 screen resolution. When I installed CS6, all the toolbars and menus are too small to even use. I have looked through these forums and, surprisingly, it seems like a common issue that has been going on for years. I've seen posts by Adobe employees that the problems would have been fixed by last year yet my interface is still too small to work.
What do I have to do to make Illustrator and Photoshop have icons large enough so that I can use them. There has to be a setting.

What do I have to do to make Illustrator and Photoshop have icons large enough so that I can use them.
You sign up for Creative Cloud. CS6 never supported high-DPI displays on Windows and even Retina support on Mac was limited to PS and AI. This madness really just started back then and nobody was prepared. As John said, nobody will ever do anything with CS6 again, so you have to live with it and use what tools your operating system offers in combination with your hardware like using a lower screen res and then scaling it 200%...

Installed Photoshop CS6, the icons on the front page,  top and side are way too small to read.  I have a hard time seeing, can't hardly see the crop tool and the tools on top, help.

    Hi
I have lower my screen solution to 1024x768 (lowest). However it is still too small. Is there anything else i can do to solve this issue? I'm using illustrator CS6 version 16.0.3

  • CS6 display is too small

I just purchased a new windows PC with resolution 3200x1800 and the display of all my CS6 production software are really small and hardly viewable. There is no option on the PC to adjust programs size, only display text and icons on the desktop.  Can anyone help?

There is no option. CS6 does not support High-DPI displays on Windows and even on Macs, Retina support was/ is limited to Photoshop and Illustrator. You can only forcibly reduce the overall screen resolution at the cost of things losing sharpness.

  • Character string buffer too small (select list query based LOV)

    Hi,
Using the select list query based LOV with a select witch is too big, you get this error.
    report error:
ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
When using the Popup LOV query based LOV) then it works nice.
    Can that be solved somehow?
With the Popup LOV the return value is displayed in stead of the description.

    Hi Andy,
How do I incorporate your suggestion on a report ?
    Example : I have
    select apex_item.display_and_save(1,column1,5) col1,
    apex_item.display_and_save(2,column2,5) col2 ,
    apex_item.popup_from_query(3, emp_name, 'select user_name, name  empname from table2) col3
Table 2 is a long list , and I'm getting string buffer too small due to this.
Your suggestion with HTP is good but I'm not sure how to implement it for reports as I'll like the user to change the values with the select_list.
I'm not using forms as they want mulit-record on the same page.
Hope to hear back from you soon.
    Thanks very much.

  • Pages User Interface

Does any one else find Pages (08) user interface a pain to use? I have used Word for a long time and am used to having most of the functions clearly displayed up front in the icon bar.
Pages hides functions under multiple menus in the Inspector menu. It took me hours to find the paragraph and line feed markings (the "invisibles"). Apple used the paragraph icon to represent two different things - the slide out styles drawer and the pull down menu - neither of which show the formatting marks. It took me another 1/2 hour to figure out how to "unindent" a paragraph (reset the style to free form).
It seems Apple tried to change the word processing language, icons, and placement of things just to be different from MS. Well, MS adopted them from WordPerfect and Apple should too, since they are standard.
I know Pages has a strong set of commands and is much more stable than Word, but I give them an F for the UI.

Would have been more useful to spend these hours reading the well done 'Pages User Guide' which describe these "burried" features.
But you are free to spent your time as you want

  • IOS 7 - User Interface - A Colour Blind Disaster

    Hello,
I have just updated my trusty iPad, which I use for just about everything to iOS 7. Unfortunaty I am colour blind and find the new user interface almost impossible to use. It is WAY too wite and I find it very difficuly to see light grey and thin blue icons on a glairing white screen. Arrrrr Why is everything so pastel coloured, there is just no contrast. Before with iOS 6 everything was crystal clear :-(
Is there any hope that iOS 7 will get an update making it possible to change the awful colour scheme? I know this may be a wonderful step forard for people with normal colour vision, but it has made my iPad next to useless. Am even thinking I should possibly move the Android, I have had an iPad since they first came out but iOS 7 has made a great device into a misery to use :-(
I have messed about with the brightness settings etc etc but just trying to use the device now frys my eyes after a few minutes. Does anyone have any suggestions other than moving to android?

I have normal vision and find the new colors also awful to use and to look at for a while.
Setting all to inverted colors might help you, I use it for longer conversations in Imessage,
but everything else looks awful then... I really hope, Apple give us some changable color
    schemes.
As skydiver told me in my thread, this here will propably not be read by Apple.
So perhaps you send it directly to Apple Feedback, too?
I did and hope if many people complain, they do something soon.
    Cheers, Monica
P.S. Sorry for my English :)

  • Muse 2014.3 update has an over-sized user interface.

The Adobe UI Scaling bug has reared its head again, this time with Muse (like with previous versions of PS, AI and ID before it).  See screen grab that makes my 22" HD look like an old 12" monitor (see pasted at half resolution below).
I don't see anyone else with this issue posting, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Any suggestions? Do I have to go back to the Windows Environment settings again? I set it to =1 to fix one of the other applications a while back.

Sounds like your Win machine is set to run at 125% scaling (or thereabouts), is that right? Or do you have multiple monitors with different native resolutions, and the "one resolution to rule them all" setting engaged?
Previous versions of Muse would ignore the 125% scale factor and run at 100%.
The new release of Muse (2014.3) also does not support running at 125%, but can run at 150% and 200% scale factors. Muse 2014.3 chooses to run at 150% in this case. For many people with vision impairment or eye strain issues 150% is a better choice than staying at 100%, but we understand it may not be best for everyone. At 150% the cursors will be oversized as you describe (using 2x cursor artwork), but everything else will be drawn crisply at 150% scale.
In the short term, we can add support for an environment variable override similar to what InDesign and Illustrator used (see Application user interface too large | Windows). Would that address the problem for you?
One question, would it be better for you if Muse, InDesign and Illustrator all obeyed the same environment variable override, or would it be better if Muse used a different one? Now that ID and AI have exposed a user preference setting for UI Scaling (see InDesign's below), it might be better if Muse used a different environment variable so as not to override the user preference in AI and ID.
We will aim to add a similar Win-only user preference for the next release of Muse.

  • Open file/browse-file dialog window size too small

It seems like the size of the "Open file" and "Browse file"-dialog windows have become too small to use efficiently.
I'm not sure if this is related to the latest updates from testing, but it wasn't like this before. I have to resize the dialog window every time in order to be able to select files and folders.
The changes are not saved across the same session of a program, but it does result in unpredictable behavior in gedit.
If I resize the open file dialog, then close the dialog, then open it again, the changes are sometimes preserved, but not always. Sometimes it's small and sometimes it's resized, and there's no way of telling.
I'm running compiz-fusion and emerald, but the bug is not related to window manager, as it's the same with metacity and openbox. So it's for all GTK programs.
When I try to run gnome-appearance-properties, I get:
"Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager."
and the problem remains no mather what GTK theme I choose.
Is gnome-settings-daemon responsible for this kind of behavior?

The issue was resolved by updating all to gnome-desktop 2.24 from testing..
Seems like the swedish repository mirrors are a bit left behind..
