CS6 with Product key number but no serial number

I purchased CS6 from Adobe Support (email address: Help And Support <[email protected]>) and obtained a product key number but no serial number.  How come?  Is my purchase legitimate or did i get scammed?

I don't know if anyone is still looking at this thread but I have just dealt with the same Adobe 'Help and Support' with the email [email protected] and found you when I looked to see if there was anything about them online.
My story as short as poss – I had problems running Photoshop Elements 11 after upgrading to Mac OS X Yosemite. Some people told me it could work, others no, so I tried to get some information from Adobe. I looked for 'Help' on Adobe.com and wrote in my enquiry on the recommended 'Chat' option. This morning I got a response and was asked if I was available to web chat about it on Skype. Everything was headed 'Help and Support' and all the Skype messages had a little Adobe logo with 'Help' by them – so I assumed it was all legit and I was actually dealing with Adobe.
They told me PSE 11 was incompatible with Yosemite but said that as an existing customer I could upgrade to PSE 13 for a discount. This seemed a good deal so I said OK. They said I could download it immediately but they'd need remote access to my computer. They started installing PSE 13 and though I started to wonder about how long they needed remote access for, things only began to look really weird when it came to paying, which was to a Moneygram account in India. Also I got a confirmation email from that adobe24x7 address.
By that time though I'd got so far into it I was worried what would happen if I pulled out, and so I went ahead and paid them (equivalent of $78 US). They told me they'll send a full serial number by email within 72 hours. When I said to them 'you're not actually Adobe are you' they said 'We have affiliation with Adobe through Commission Junction'. The named 'Support Manager' on the messages is Amrita Singh.
They finished the installation, and so far the PSE 13 seems to work fine. But like you I have no idea whether it is legitimate software or not. I called Adobe here in the UK and they say they have no connection with adobe24x7, didn't seem to have it on record as a scam address, but are going to get back to me.
I'm normally careful with scammers so this makes me feel really dumb. But – the big question – since they had access to the computer for so long, were they fishing for anything else? If they are real scammers this is a possibility. When I reported it to Adobe they told me to cancel the payment but I said I didn't want to in case adobe24x7 took any reprisals.
So, if CS5 and Yosemite is still reading – did they ever get back to you when they said they'd reimburse you? And have you had any other bad consequences since you were in contact with them, bank accounts, passwords being compromised etc?
Am wondering how much I need to panic! Thanks for any information....
And, a wider issue, shouldn't Adobe show a little more concern that their 'Help pages' are being hacked into so easily?

    Like most online purchases you would normally receive the order number before the order is processed so you should be patient and allow some time for the processing to happen.  If you feel you have waited long enough then you should contact Adobe Support directly and try to get information on your order since you now have a reference for it that you can share with them.

    Please help. I have lost/didn't take note of my serial numbers when I installed CS6 and Lightroom the first time. I have to re-install them now but only have disc and product number. Thank you.

    The best for this would be Contact Customer Care  Chat or phone.
    While we as volunteers handle technical questions, we can't make a serial number work.
    I hope you have registered your software with Adobe, it should make this easier.

    You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

    I tried to do as suggested in your link, but I can’t open the programs anymore, so I can’t get to the possibility of deactivate!
    I did get the updates, but that’s all…
    Any other way of getting there?

    If you never bought the product then you cannot get the serial number.

    When did you make the purchase? Can you try signing out of the CC desktop app, and then signing back in?

    Get in touch with support. Also make sure you are not trying to input your eligibility verification code, but have converted it to a proper serial on the edu pages.

    Purchased and downloaded/installed Captivate 7 but get 'serial number valid but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer' error.  I have checked serial number, checked that I purchased correct version (7) direct and not an upgrade but the drop down list tha tthe window shows is only previous 6 versions and it is 7 I purchased/installed and is opening.

    Captivate thinks you bought an upgrade.  Adobe Support will have to help you. 
    I went through this (with an upgrade) but my qualifying product was also an upgrade, and Adobe didn't list my original product (CP2).  So there was no way to put in all the info. 
    And, just FYI, keep that serial number handy.  Even after Adobe Support fixed my Captivate so that it will run, every once in awhile...for no apparent reason...Captivate will start in "trial" mode and I have to re-enter the serial number.  It always works after I do that.  But, it's a pain so I now keep the serial number posted on my bulletin board for handy reference.

    I've been given an disc of the old Dreamweaver 4, but no serial number. I'm not a professional, and not in the profession of web design. I built a website as part of a course with Frontpage years ago, and would like to see the difference this disc has to offer. But I have no serial number so can't install it. I would say it was obsolete now, is there anyone who can help please?

    I wouldn't waste time trying to install DW4.  Even if you could get it working on a modern operating system (which I kind of doubt), so much has changed on the web since 2000, anything you create with it will be grossly behind the curve.
    CS6 is far superior.
