CS6 Workspaces Pixelated

I purchased my MacBook Pro with Retina Display in Dec 2012 as well as the Creative Suite 6 Design Standard. I noticed straight away how pixelated the entire workspace for InDesign and Bridge appeared (all menus, palettes, page graphics, fonts, everything!). I spoke with an Adobe Support Specialist over the phone and was told to download an the newest trial version of each program because it contained an update needed to fix this retina display compatibility issue. Nothing has worked and, a year and a half later, I'm still searching for a solution. As a professional graphic designer, this has been a huge source of frustration! Please help!

It should have been done as soon as retina first came out. Pitiful...
Why? Your blame is misplaced. "Retina" is Apple's doing.
Companies like Adobe make business decisions based on "business case." There's no business case in adapting a product you no longer make to Apple's latest scam. If history is any indicator, no doubt there will be another one right behind it. Why would any company allow another to dictate its product cycles? Making InDesign CC Retina-compliant was a major undertaking that required re-coding from the ground up. Why would any company go backwards and completely remake an out-of-production product?
What you want is tantamount to demanding that Honda dismantles and rebuilds your 2008 Accord so that your new 20-inch wheels will fit.
And since it's another automotive analogy...
Why is everything pixelated and blurry in CS6?

You can believe what you like, but it won't change the truth.
CS6 is a Cocoa application, and Retina support requires Carbon (or the other way around, I'm a Windows user). It's not a matter of adding a few lines of code to make the change, it required rewriting the entire program from the ground up.

  • Premiere Pro cs6 - Workspace video pane remains blank when trying to view imported files

    Hello,
I'm currently working in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. When I import my media into my workspace and drag it onto the timeline, the preview box where you can review your cut video remains black. Double clicking on the imported file gives the same result. I was initially importing .jpg files (about 300kb size for each) so I tried importing various other image formats - .png, .tiff, etc... I have even imported a movie file into my scene to determine whether the issue was with my content format. With the video, the audio plays fine, but the video remains blank in the preview box. I have tried rendering my workspace and changing my initial project settings, but to no avail. I went into my preferences for Premiere and from what I can determine, everything looks fine.
I'm running the software on an HP Pavilion, Windows 7 intel i7, 8gb ram, with a nvidia 650M 2GB card. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi,
Have you tried to change your Video Renderer? It would be under Project > Project Settings > General. Switch the option to Mercury Playback Engine software only and see if it helps.
    Thanks,
    Rameez

  • Bridge CS6 workspaces suddenly greyed; content panel is only active item

I am running CS6 and OS X 10.8.5. Everything was fine, and today suddenly Bridge has stopped working properly. Under the Window menu, workspaces are greyed. Under the View menu, As thumbnails, As details, As list are greyed/disabled.
Bridge appears to be locked into the Light Box workspace, except that there is no preview panel. The only panel available is the Content panel; when I select one or more files, there is/are no previews.
This is what the window looks like.
So far, these are the things I have tried, to no avail:
I have restarted the computer, restarted Bridge, I have purged the cache, disabled startup scripts.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

First try to delete the Bridge plist file from the user library.
Quit Bridge and go to the user library (by default hidden per OSX10.7, use menu Go with option to reveal).
User (your user name) / library/ Preferences / inhere find and manual delete the file called "com.adobe.bridge5.plist".
Again hold down option key while restart and again reset prefs.
If this is not working I'm afraid you have to reinstall Bridge CS6. First be sure you have backed up your keyword list if you have one and also look in the aforementioned user library but now Application Support / Adobe/ Bridge CS6. Copy this folder and content to a back up place for security. Inhere all are sort of custom settings including your custom workspaces, so if needed you can copy some of these setting back to the same folders and location of your new install.
Repeat this also for Photoshop (both same library / app support and preferences) for back up security of your custom settings because Bridge is part of PS install in CS6.
Be sure to have your install disk or image file for PSCS6 at hand including the serial number. Use the official uninstaller and once you are doing so also try the Adobe Cleaner Tool :
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html  (read the instructions carefully before acting).
Run Apple disk utility to check and repair permissions and then reinstall PSCS6 that also installs Bridge CS6. Run the updaters and try again.
And a final thought, before doing the above create a new user account for testing and see if this helps. Sometimes User Accounts get corrupted and Bridge is very sensitive for that. MacOsX recovery disk can help to recreate the problem user account.

  • Photoshop CS6 looks pixelated on Mac Retina screen

I have Photoshop CS6 running on a MacBook Pro with a 15" retina screen. By default it runs in low-resolution, which makes everything pixelated. When I right-click on the app and go to "Get Info" I see an option to "Open in Low Resolution". When I uncheck it Photoshop opens in high-resolution and it looks beautiful, but it's unusable: I can't click on any of the tools, the sidebars, or anything. So I bring it back to low-resolution and everything works well, except that it looks pixelated again.
I have the 13.0 update (the latest one) and there aren't any additional updates according to Photoshop.
Is there any way to have Photoshop CS6 run in high-resolution?
    Thank you very much!

Thank you, Gene, but that's exactly what I was trying before and it doesn't work. In my OP I explained what happens when I try that:
When I uncheck it Photoshop opens in high-resolution and it looks beautiful, but it's unusable: I can't click on any of the tools, the sidebars, or anything. So I bring it back to low-resolution and everything works well, except that it looks pixelated again.
When I open Photoshop and go to Help > System Info this is what I see:
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0 (13.0 20120315.r.428 2012/03/15:21:00:00) x64
    Operating System: Mac OS 10.10.3
It's not 13.0.6. However, when I go to Help > Updates it tells me that all my applications are already up-to-date.
    Any other ideas?

  • Ps CS6 Problem: Pixels put in Mac file icon have not been converted to the profile of the icon

Pixels put in a Mac file icon image have not been converted to the colour profile of the icon image.
For example, when ProPhoto or Adobe RGB pixels are put in an icon image with no profile or "Generic RGB" profile, the result is a washed-out appearance to the icon.
Apple recommends sRGB (PNG) images in icons. Adobe, please comply with that.
Edit: I realise that CS5.1 did the same as CS6.

Makes you wonder whether the person who programmed the icon generating code...  Nah, I won't say it.    Down boy.

  • High quality images in indesign CS6 get pixelated

I have been using indesign CS6 for a while now. Recently, when I place some images into a document, they are pixelated. They are high quality images with a high resolution. Even when I shrink it down considerably to fit in the document, it still gets pixelated. I have "view High Quality" checked & the image prints pixelated as well. When I preview the image, it looks fine. Any ideas?

Can you post a screen shot of the image placed on ID to have an idea of what you're looking at? If possible can you share a sample image via dropbox?

  • How can I transfer my Illustrator CS6 Workspace?

I re-installed Illustrator CS6 and I can't get my custom workspace to work. I had made a backup of Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings>en_GB>Workspaces>Custom_Workspace (file) but when I copy that to the same location as before the custom workspace doesn't show up in Illustrator. What am I missing?
    Thank you.

    Did you restart illustrator?

  • Retina display and CS6 InDesign pixelation

    Hello,
Has there been no software update for InDesign CS6 that supports Retina display? I have recently upgraded my Macbook to a retina display and InDesign icons and text appears pixelated. It's really annoying! Is there any way to fix this? Is the fix purchase CC?
    Thanks!

Well yes, it was possible by rewriting the program. That became CC. It's a valid business decision to make that kind of change a new version rather than give away thousands of hours of work for free. The development team needs to be paid, and the stockholders expect some return on their investment. Do you do any work that gets a periodic revision? Do you charge the client for that revision, or do you just give them the new versions year after year? Should Ford or Chevy retrofit your car with batteries and a new engine to be a hybrid vehicle for free?

  • Premiere CS6 workspace not visible

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 on a macbook pro retina display running OS 10.8.1
I work with my macbook closed - in clam shell mode - with a Thunderbolt display plugged in via a thunderpolt connection.  I have been running Premiere perfectly like this for over a year... until now.
Basically what happened is I unplugged from my Thunderbolt display with Premiere still open.  Ive done this before with no problems.  Normally when I open up my macbook, the screen takes a moment to rescale itself and Premiere's workspace is still there and I drag the corners to resize it for my retina screen.
On this occasion, when I opened my macbook, the Premiere menus are all still visible at the top of the screen, but the workspace is just gone.  All I see is my desktop.
I have treid resetting workspaces.  What is interesting is that if I got to the Window menu and launch another tool palette that wasnt open in my project - the that tool palette pops up and is visible.  But if I try and launch a timeline or any other palette that was previously visible I get nothing.  Also - selecting one of these palettes through the Window menu and then attempting to close them (using Command W) causes Premiere to crash.
I HAVE TRIED A RE-INSTALL of Premiere and the problem persists.
Right.... so Im really stuck here.
I would really appreciate some help from an Adobe staff member.
    Scott

I HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM !!!
    I went into:
MacintoshHD > Users > (my user name) > Documents > Adobe > Premier Pro
and I trashed everything in there.  Then when I restared Premiere everything is back to normal and it seems Premiere has to rebuild and rewrite all the data for the project...
...but if you are experienceing the above problem, then its worth it!  This seems to be the solution.
    Cost me hours of frustration!

  • CS6 Workspace won't open correctly.

I recently upgraded from CS5 to CS6 on my PC and now every time I launch CS6 and open any project, all the panels in the workspace just open on top of each other in the middle of the screen. None of the presets seem to work either. Has anyone experienced this? CS5 is still installed as well. Could this be the reason? Thanks for any solutions or suggestions. Mike.

    Try Reset Workspace.

  • Illustrator CS6 Workspace Stops Working within a day or 2

    Hi,
I'm starting to get very aggravated with Illustrator CS6 (Mac) -- every day or 2, it stops working after opening 1 file. I clear the prefs, cache, etc. and it will work again for another day or 2.
It seems to be the Workspace I've created, but that's just a guess.
As of today, I won't create another workspace and see if that really is the issue -- everything was working well up until about a week ago and then nothing but problems -- and I have been using the same Workspace for at least a year.
Anyone else have any other suggestions?
Oh, and I've also re-installed Illustrator CS6, which didn't help.
Many thanks for any and all suggestions!

    Thanks for replying, Scott.
    1) File > Open = nothing happens. No file opens and no error message.
    2) Dragging a fle to the AI icon = same as above.
    3) Files are local.
    4) I haven't tried booting into Safe Mode because that would mean I'd have to work in Safe Mode for days on end. This weird problem occurs either same day or, when using Essentials now, 5 days later. It would be impossible to get any work done in Safe Mode.
    5) I'm logged in as admin and will certainly try logging out the next time it happens.
I really don't want to trash my prefs every day or clear the cache so frequently -- it will take me three times as long to work on any files as you can hopefully appreciate.
I also tried removing the internet connection which seemed to work as well, or it was a coincidence -- I am a fully registered customer and have been since Aldus! I'll have to try it again the next time. But again, doing this every time I need to work on files is going to get old very quickly.

  • Why is adobe premiere cs6 workspace replaced with full black screen?

Windows 7 Pro.  AMD 3.2 Ghz hexacore, 16 Gb RAM, tons of HD space. Nvidia GPU 470 with Cuda. Dual screen
    Adobe Premiere pro CS6.
Usually Premiere works fine and i have no problems. However sometimes when I work, I suddendly get a dual black screen. No matter where I click with mouse, the monitors remain black.
The only way I found to go around is to call Task Manager, then the task bar opens again at the bottom of main screen and by clicking on Premiere icon (which I permanently have there), I can get again my workspace.
Did others get the same issue, which can be a real nuisance?

Right click in any open area of the Windows desktop
Select NVIDIA Control Panel from the popup window
Select SYSTEM INFORMATION at the lower left corner
Driver version should be the 1st line in Details
    I have a GTX285 using driver 296.10 and Win7
Once you post your driver version, someone may be able to tell you if you need either a newer driver, or an older driver because your driver has a "known" problem

  • CS6 Workspace Issue

I recently installed CS6 on my PC. (I had been using CS5 and it still has CS5 installed as well.) The issue is that every time I open or start a project, my customized workspace is messed up. All the panels just cluster on top of each other in the middle of the screen. I have to rearrange the entire workspace and resave it. This happens every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mike.

Can't help directly, but in case this is a save (permissions) issue, do the below

  • CS5 to CS6 workspaces migration

I tried to copy my workspaces from CS5 to CS6 by copying the workspace into  the Users/Neil/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings/en_US/Workspaces folder. However, when I open AI CS6, the new workspaces are not listed. Is there another way to copy the workspaces?

Thanks for the information. It is no big deal to create them again, but I just thought I would ask.
I actually did blackline the XML file for one of my workspaces against the CS6 default, but it was quickly apparent that any hacking there was well beyond my meager skill.
    Cheers.
