CS6 Zoom tool refuses to behave nicely...

How do I get the zoom tool in CS6 Illustrator to behave normally (like all older versions) and let me specify what areas i want to zoom in on and at what percentage? It just jumps to SOME of the predefined percentages (not all of them work it seems...try 150%).

Found it... page mode was in "Web".... extracted elements form my page into a new "print" document and zoom tool is working normally. Is this documented somewhere?

  • Problem with InDesign CC redrawing the screen too slow while using Zoom tool

Hello. I got a problem with InDesign CC redrawing the screen too slow while using Zoom tool. Sometimes it takes more than a secong to zoom in or out. However InDesign CS6, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC works just fine. What could be the problem, videocard or something else? Below is my PC configuration: OS Windows 8 Pro (x64); processor Intel Core i7 2600k CPU 3,40GHz; video adapter NVIDIA GeForse GTS 450; monitor NEC PA271W (2560x1440).

Yes it’s a bug. The trick is to select the tool and then left click the photo information strip and hold for a few seconds until you see the windows bar at the top of the screen (not responding)
The lasso tool should then work normally.

  • Zoom tool acting crazy (Photoshop CC 2014)

Hello, all. I'm starting to go crazy here. Whenever I use the Zoom tool in Photoshop CC 2014, it zooms in continuously and doesn't stop zooming until it reaches an absurdly zoomed-in level (like 3200%). And when I try to zoom out, the reverse happens, and zooms out all the way to a tiny size. I the past I was able to zoom in standard increments of 25%, 33.3%, 50%, 66.7%, etc. but now I can't hit any of those numbers.
I made this video of my screen to show you exactly what's happening: Photoshop zoom error on Vimeo
One thing to note is that the zoom tool works properly when I use my keyboard shortcuts (Command and + or - keys) but when I use the mouse or laptop trackpad it goes haywire.
    Thanks for any help!

    Adobe Photoshop CC 2014.2.1 Release
Selecting An Area With The Zoom Tool
This feature is known as Scrubby Zoom. By default, the option is enabled, but you can turn it off by unchecking it in the Options Bar (when the Zoom Tool is selected):
    Unchecking the Scrubby Zoom option.
With Scrubby Zoom disabled, the Zoom Tool behaves much like Photoshop’s Rectangular Marquee Tool. Simply click and drag out a selection box around the area you want to zoom in on.

  • Photoshop CS6 zoom to center broken

Zoom tool does not center image about clicked point, even when "zoom clicked point to center" is checked under general preferences. Behavior appears the same with this box checked and unchecked. Is there another way to force this feature?
Already installed all updates, and have restarted program and OS multiple times as well.
This is a basic feature that IMO makes the program useless without it.

    Setup:
    Fresh install of Photoshop CS6 extended 64-bit (13.0.1) on a Win7 64-bit OS.
    To reproduce problem:
Use "standard screen mode". Open image in new tab. Check "zoom clicked point to center" under general preferences. Select zoom tool. Click on image. Clicked point does not become center of view. This happens with any zoom level, as long as the image fills the viewport. Unchecking the same setting does not change the behavior.
    Why this is a bug:
Correct behavior is shown if an image is switched from a tab to a full window (by dragging the tab down into the viewport so min/max/close buttons appear on the window frame). In this case the "zoom clicked point to center" setting works as expected, centering when checked, and not when not.
The only time correct behavior is shown in tab view is when zooming from a magnification which does not fill the viewport to a magnification which does fill the viewport. In that case, and no other, the image will be centered on the clicked point.
Both of these statements suggest that "zoom clicked point to center" is not implemented correctly when in tabbed view, which is the default view and the one most people (myself included) are trying to use.
    Notes:
Photoshop CS3 on the same machine shows correct "zoom clicked point to center" behavior by default (there is no option to turn this zoom style off).

  • How can I get the dynamic zoom tool to work in my PDF all the time?

I have designed an interactive PDF to open in full-screen view only. Of course, when it does so, none of Reader's tool bars are available to the end-user. But as the PDF is meant to be used on screen, I want the recipient to access the dynamic zoom tool. So I have introduced access to it from within the PDF itself.
This I have done using the Button tool to create a button that appears on each page of the PDF that, when clicked, turns the cursor into the dynamic tool. Another button I created alongside it brings back the cursor.
However, having done this, some recipients receiving the PDF have been able to access the dynamic zoom tool from within my lovingly crafted PDF but others have not (the dynamic zoom tool worked on a PC machine running XP/Home & Reader 7, but not on PCs running XP/Home & Reader 8 or 9).
And of course, the tool works fine when the user exits out of full-screen view & accesses the tool via the menu, or the toolbar.
But we don't want the menu or tool bars to be visible!!
So my question is, does anyone know why this specific function on the PDF I created is working for some and not for others? Do you know if there is something specific I need to apply within the Button tool's settings or the PDF's settings that once actioned will completely avoid this problem from reoccurring? Or is there a bug in the software that you are aware of that prevents me from creating a PDF that includes access to the dynamic zoom tool from within itself (not via the toolbar) and which works fine in different versions of Reader & across PC/Mac platforms & operating systems?
(I created the PDF using Acrobat Pro 9 on a Mac running Leopard, 10.5.9. And if anyone wants to know, you can create the interactive button as I did from the menu bar: go to Tools > Advanced editing > Button tool. Clicking Button tool brings up a cross-hair cursor. Click & drag to marquee the area you want to make interactive (in my case, over the icon I designed & introduced to each page of the PDF to represent the dynamic zoom tool).
This brings up a dialogue box where you can select the appearance of the button (eg visible or invisible), which trigger is needed to activate it (clicking, hovering, etc), & what action is generated once you've done so (like going to another page in the document, run a javascript, play a sound, or execute any of the menu items).
So all I did is told it which menu item to activate, by selecting 'execute menu item' in the drop-down menu, going to the menu to select it & clicking okay. Simples!)

  • How can I fix a dynamic zoom tool issue for users of Reader v8?

I am publishing a PDF to be posted on the internet for downloading by end-users. The PDF is designed to open in full screen view, that is, without tool or menu bars visible. This means it would be helpful for me to embed additional functionality onto each page of the PDF for users who do not know keyboard shortcuts.
In doing so, I have found that when adding the dynamic zoom tool function via Acrobat's Advance Editing > Forms > Button Tool, the dynamic zoom tool only works in some versions of Acrobat Reader and not others.
I suspect this is because the dynamic zoom tool is accessed from different locations in different versions of Reader. Therefore, the instruction that I embed in to the button tool that relies on a menu-tree command ('find the tool in this location via the menu') cannot therefore be executed.
Fortunately, it appears that there is a javascript name available for the dynamic zoom tool that I can use instead of a menu-tree command. But unfortunately, it appears that the script name is different for different versions of Adobe Reader...
Not to be outdone, we have managed to write a small piece of javascript that, when assigned to the PDF using the button tool, identifies which version of Reader the recipient is using and activates the correct script name.
    So far so good.
However, it now appears that version 8 of Adobe Reader has a higher level of security built in, so that javascript is security restricted and isn't allowed to run.
This of course means that the button I've included in the PDF to bring up the dynamic zoom tool doesn't work at all for end-users using Adobe Reader v8.
Getting the users to adjust their security permissions in the preferences is problematic and less than ideal. I really want the PDF to work 'out of the box' so to speak, without the users having to perform somersaults to get every element of the PDF to function fully as designed.
And seeing as the end-users are part of a public organisation and will not necessarily have the authority to update their software from v8 to v9 themselves, I am a little stuck.
So what's my query? I've got more than one:
    • Is there a more detailed script I can assign using the button tool to get the dynamic zoom tool to work as outlined above in v8?
    • Can I raise the security level of the dynamic zoom tool from within the PDF (that is, so that the dynamic zoom tool activates automatically and without end-user intervention, e.g. without downloading bits of code to place in file directories)?
    • If I were to assign a digital ID/certificate to the PDF, would this allow the javascript to run unhindered?

If you are going to SET an IP, a Static IP, on the computer it has to be out of the DHCP pool range but in the overall IP range the router is using to hand out. So if the router DHCP range is 192.168.1.100 to .150 you have to assign a static IP to the computer either above the 150 or below the 100.
Right I've never had a problem with ha PC. But then I have never had a problem with my Mac either.
I suspect you have some type of hardware problem or a hardware and driver problem.

  • I can no longer use keyboard shortcuts to access Zoom tool.

    Hello,
Yesterday I wiped my HD and reinstalled my system.
I thought I put everything back the way I had it, but apparently I forgot something and can't figure out what's wrong.
When in Illustrator CS2, I try to hold down Space+Command, I don't get the zoom tool like I usually do. When I hold down Option to click and drag an item, it does not duplicate the item. Regular commands, Like Command+O and Command+N work fine.
I thought it might be the International Keyboard issue, where having 'US Extended' selected causes problems, but that is not the issue as it is turned off.
I'm using Tiger 10.4.11 on MacPro.
Anyone encounter this and have any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    -Vincent

It can also be a language thing.
Switch language to US (if it's not your usual language), make your first keyboard command (f.ex. Cmd-Y) and then switch back to your normal language. Keyboard commands will keep working until next time you restart Illy.

CS6 stamp tool doesn't work with action / record ( tool record is enabled ) other tools works

At one time tool  recording was not possible and if you install Adobe Scriptlistener Plug-in Adobe will disable tool recording its never an option.
I use and record actions all the time and was looking forward to tool recording when Adobe announced it.  However I found what they delivered was  of very limited value because of the restrictions. I do not care that Adobe disables tool recording on my machine.
The amount of data that gets reordered seems also vary between machines.  I found that Action recorded on fast machine are not usable on slow machine.  Fast machine recorder too much data.
Documents you use such action on must also have the same size and resolution as the document you recorded the action on. Quite a restriction.
You problem may also be foxed in CC 2014 sett here Photoshop CS6 - Recording the clone tool in an action gives incorrect results on replay.

  • How to disable some zooming tools in a chart?

    Hi,
I am using a chart in LV6.1 and the user of VI, must not be able to change the Yscale limits, neither by editing scales nor by zooming tools.
I used a property node and made the Yscale not editable. but How can I disable some of zooming tools such as window zoom or Y zoom? how can I limit access to "active tools" of a chart? is it possible?
Thanks for any kind of help.

With the graph palette not visible, you can still allow access to X-zoom by using property nodes and the Palette:Active Tool property.
    Demo in LV6.1 attached.

  • How to access the magnifier/marquee zoom tool in Reader XI?

The subject says it all, really.
    Richard

The keyboard shortcut is the same as in most applications (Windows):
    Ctrl + [zoom in]
    Ctrl - [zoom out]
use the + / - on the numeric keypad.
If you don't have the Zoom tool on your Toolbar, you can add it using View | Show/Hide | Toolbar Items | Select & Zoom.

  • Why can't the Pan & Zoom Tool start with the whole frame using photos

I've used the pan and zoom animation in Microsoft Movie Maker - and want that same ease of use in any other program (I find it doesn't do a great job of soundtrack and text/image placement) see menu options below....   I Purchased Premiere Elements after watching a short video of the pan & zoom tool - however now that I am trying to use it it falls way short.
Is there a way to allow me to select the whole photo as the starting frame -- in the screenshot below the frame 1 will not extend to the whole photo so I start off with a cropped image.  I want the full Frame of the photo and then be able to zoom and pan in toward faces - while I can still do this with the cropped frame I loose a good deal of my photo and the context it provides.
The Microsoft Movie Maker options - very easy                        |              Limitation of Premiere Elements 13 to start with the full photo frame

    Hi,
You might like to ask that question in the Premiere Elements forum
    Premiere Elements
It looks to me as though the aspect ration of the photo and the video frame are different and therefore something has to be cropped off.
    But I could be wrong

  • Can't use the Zoom Tool to set the Magnification level of pages to diff sizes from the preset ones

Hi, I am trying to use the Zoom Tool and "Set Magnification" on my Dreamweaver CS5.5 in order to view my pages at different magnifications when working on them.  My problem is that I need to use different sizes than those sizes that are available under the preset magnification levels list (which are for example 100%, 150% or 200%).  These are the ones that  come up on the zoom pop-up menu.  The dreamweaver tutorial says that I need to type in the size I want (e.g. 115% or 130%) in the "zoom text box" and it will then apply that size to the page but the box does not let me change whatever size is currently in it.  I can’t override or delete whatever preset size is in the box or do anything to change the zoom from the pre-set levels! I would really appreciate some help with this thanks

Hi Ben, thank you for the reply, unfortunately that was one of the pages I was looking at to try and fix this issue but it is of no help.
The page says for zooming in and out of a page to "Type a magnification level in the Zoom text box.".  My dreamweaver will not let my type a manficiation level in the zoom text box.  It just won't let me override whatever is in the box (e.g. 100%) so I can't change it from the default pre-set magnification levels. It is so frustrating!
Does anyone else have any other ideas?
    Thanks
    Rachel
