CS6 zooming

Hi all! I recently upgraded to CS6. I don't like the way Photoshop zooms now. I've looked around in the Help section, but I'm guessing I'm not using the correct terminology. Basically, I want the zoom to work as it did in CS4. I want to draw a marquee selection, and when I release the mouse... that is the section it zooms in on. I've played with all the zoom preferences, and I can't get it to do this. How can I make this work? Thanks.

  • Why is CS6 Zoom change window size is different then previous versions?

Why in CS6 when zoom changes window size and a folating window fits in Photoshop window or on other display screen do I get scroll bars where a select all selection marching ants are not visible on all four sides till I drag out the window to get rid of the scroll bars so I can see all of marching ants.  In preious versions of Photoshop space for scroll bars is present but there are no scrool bar, select all marching ants are visible on all four sides when an image's window fits in Photoshop window or on second display. Is there a way to make CS6 work like previous versions? Also if I just open a document and Photoshop fits it to Photoshop window or second display the floating window is correct without scroll bars. Zoon add then even when not needed....

Without manually resizing each open document window on my Mac, Photoshop 13.x would be simply unusable.
I hadn't posted anything on the subject because the system on which I run Ps 13.0.1 is based on a laptop (MacBook) literally rescued from the trash and with minimal specs.  The graphics card is not even involved in processing.
I put up with it because I'm basically using it to run ACR 7.2RC1, then bring the converted and ACR-adjusted onto my regular working machine running CS4.
In a nutshell, nothing will make the window fit the main monitor, not Fit To Window, nor 100% view, nor any shortcut.
I need to drag the window manually from the lower right-hand corner in order for it to fit the monitor.  Otherwise, there are substantial gaps on the right and at the bottom.  I never run in tab view.
    For the sake of thoroughness:
2007, 2GHz MacBook 2,1, Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of RAM (can use 3 GB), 160 GB internal boot disk, dedicated FireWire400 external HD for Ps scratch disk, external Time Machine HD.  Dual external monitors + built-in laptop screen Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
The Mac-Intel is used for no other purpose than running ACR 7.2RC1 and the only other application I occasionally run on said Mac-Intel is TextEdit.
My main working machine is a Power Mac (PPC) G5 Quad with 16 GB of RAM, on which 11.0.2 is the last version of Photoshop to run, so I have the Mac-Intel system described above just to run ACR 7.x under Photoshop 13.0.1.  I convert my raw files in ACR7.x open them in Ps 13.0.x and save them via Ethernet to an external HD connected to the G5 Quad for further processing in CS4.

  • Illustrator cs6 zoom problem cinteq 24hd touch

i have problems with the zoom function illustrator cs6.
i am using a cinteq 24hd touch and macbook pro latest software.
i can zoon out with the wheel and touch but the zoom to does't work.
    can somebody help me?

it is updated, and I do trash the temp files regulary,
but I'm not suer what do you mean by "make it behave as well as your system's hibernation" could you please clarify?

  • CS6 Zoom tool refuses to behave nicely...

How do I get the zoom tool in CS6 Illustrator to behave normally (like all older versions) and let me specify what areas i want to zoom in on and at what percentage? It just jumps to SOME of the predefined percentages (not all of them work it seems...try 150%).

Found it... page mode was in "Web".... extracted elements form my page into a new "print" document and zoom tool is working normally. Is this documented somewhere?

  • PS CS6 zoom sometimes affects all open images

I'm trying to figure out how to replicate this issue. This is on Win7 x64 with PS CS6. On an infrequent basis, when I zoom in on one open image, the same zoom magnification will be applied to all the other images I have open. When this happens and I have several image files open, you can imagine it's annoying to have to reset the view for all those open images.
It looks like the zoom inheritance sometimes happens when I drag a layer from a zoomed-in image onto another open image window that's at a different zoom magnification. But it doesn't happen every time.
If this is a "feature" please tell me how to avoid or disable it.

The shift+Ctrl+0, + and - or 1 are shortcuts I want to ask to have implemented as a JDIs on the feedback site. Also, a shift+clicking the contextual menus of the zoom/hand tool (or spring-loaded ones) Done: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop_jdi_allow_more_zoom_all_wi ndows_shift_shortcuts#add_product_label
Note: the CTRL or ALT+Spacebar do respect the Shift modifier to work on all open document.
I'm wondering if I will not also ask to have the double-click (and shift-double click) of the zoom and hand tool not register as a tool change (be spring loaded) done: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop_jdi_make_double_clicking_t he_zoom_or_hand_tool_a_spring_loaded_event?topic_tools=open
Thanks for that feature, Chris, I use it a lot!

  • Photoshop CS6 zoom percentage

    Hi there,
Does anyone know if there is a way to set a default zoom percentage value in Photoshop CS6?
I would like to set this to 31.5%.
A bit of a strange value I know, but I've found that this value gives me an image on the screen that is the same size as what I get out of the printer.
It would be great if I could do this, as it's a bit of a bind having to type in 31.5 over and over again in the Navigator.
Apologies if this is covered elsewhere.  If it is I haven't been able to find it.
    Richard.

Seem you need a simpler editor then Photoshop or need to learn a bit about the software you have.
For this is not overly complicated when it comes to Photoshop.
If you want to automate something using Photoshop you need an Action, Script or both.
If you want something to be automatically automated when you open a document you need that event to trigger the automation you want to happen.
If you want your image to be displayed print size on your screen what needs to be known is the print size, the displays resolution and the images pixel size.   Knowing these sizes one can figure out the number of pixels that the imaged need to be displayed with on the display and knowing images pixel size it can be scaled for the display resolution. All image on you system most likely will not be set to 300dpi resolution. Images need to be scaled according to their resolution.
Photoshop make it very easy to record Action.  The action Palette palette is a full blown action editor.
Photoshop menu File>Scripts>Script Event Manager make it easy to trigger automation for given events.
Photoshop knows image pixel size, print resolution therefor can calculate print size.  However  Apple's and Microsoft's operating systems do not know or store your displays resolution and you display hardware does not report pixel resolution to you computer. That piece of the equation is missing you need to set that for Photoshop then and only then can Photoshop calculate the correct View Print Size and scale the image accordingly.

  • Photoshop CS6 zoom to center broken

Zoom tool does not center image about clicked point, even when "zoom clicked point to center" is checked under general preferences. Behavior appears the same with this box checked and unchecked. Is there another way to force this feature?
Already installed all updates, and have restarted program and OS multiple times as well.
This is a basic feature that IMO makes the program useless without it.

    Setup:
    Fresh install of Photoshop CS6 extended 64-bit (13.0.1) on a Win7 64-bit OS.
    To reproduce problem:
Use "standard screen mode". Open image in new tab. Check "zoom clicked point to center" under general preferences. Select zoom tool. Click on image. Clicked point does not become center of view. This happens with any zoom level, as long as the image fills the viewport. Unchecking the same setting does not change the behavior.
    Why this is a bug:
Correct behavior is shown if an image is switched from a tab to a full window (by dragging the tab down into the viewport so min/max/close buttons appear on the window frame). In this case the "zoom clicked point to center" setting works as expected, centering when checked, and not when not.
The only time correct behavior is shown in tab view is when zooming from a magnification which does not fill the viewport to a magnification which does fill the viewport. In that case, and no other, the image will be centered on the clicked point.
Both of these statements suggest that "zoom clicked point to center" is not implemented correctly when in tabbed view, which is the default view and the one most people (myself included) are trying to use.
    Notes:
Photoshop CS3 on the same machine shows correct "zoom clicked point to center" behavior by default (there is no option to turn this zoom style off).

  • Zoom no longer works with Cintiq touch ring in Flash CC

When working in Flash, I always use the touch ring on my cintiq to zoom in and out, it's second nature. This funstion worked perfectly fine in Flash CS6 but does not work at all in CC. Having to always use hot keys and tapping on the screen to zoom in and out is entirely too cumbersome and has slowed down my productivity. Is this recent lack in functionality yet another glaring ommision to come from Flash CC? Is there a way to once again use the touch ring on my Cintiq to zoom in/out, or like so many others, do I have to revert back to CS6?
    Cintiq 24HD
    Macbook Pro Retina
    OSX 10.8.4

I'm not sure, but is that what you are asking to see? The touch ring is a circular indentation on both the left and right side of the Cintiq 24HD. It can be set to do various convenient tasks such as zooming in/out, chaning the brush size or rotating the canvas just by moving your finger around the touch ring. In Flash CC, almost none of these functions work. In fact, the only function that does seem to work is "scroll", which is the only one that I find the least useful in my workflow. In flash CS6, zoom in/out worked, as did scroll, but brush size toggling or rotating the canvas didn't. If you can get zoom in/out to work again like in CS6 would be great, getting all those other funtions to work would be even better still!

  • Photoshop Adding Noise to Photos Suddenly

Hi! I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have been using Photoshop for years. Within the past month or so, Photoshop CS6 has been adding noise to my photos after saving. This has never happened before. This is my process: I shoot in raw + jpeg, open the raw file in PS CS6, tweak it to my liking, run an action or two, and save (baseline optimized) as a jpeg. When I open the new file on my computer in Windows Picture Viewer (default program on Windows 8) there is a crazy amount of noise - noise that was not there at 100% in Photoshop. When I open in Windows Photo Gallery, there is still noise, albeit slightly less than in the default photo app. In Faststone, there is no noise - so I thought this was simply a Windows issue. However, after some troubleshooting I realized it is not a Windows error. Going back through photos I processed anywhere from 3 months to a year ago, there is no noise when I open with either program. I save most of my raw and psd files, so I went back to a few raw files whose jpegs did not have this issue, and attempted to resave as a test. They open fine, no grain. I thought perhaps it was a camera issue of some sort, however, the raw and jpegs that are not processed through PS show up perfectly fine, no grain. Also, it isn't an entirely consistent error, as maybe 5% of the photos do not have the noise after saving. The only fix I found was to lower my DPI - 150 did the trick, 72 was even better. Although I don't see my clients printing any larger than 11x14, I do promise them high res photos, so if it's possible they can print larger, I would like them to have that option.  I am at a complete loss as to why this is suddenly happening. If anyone has any insight I would be forever grateful!
Edit: I figured out that this is only happening with high ISO photos. Obviously, I understand high ISO=more chance of noise. What I am having a hard time understanding is that there is no noise in the JPEG SOOC or in the raw file in PS CS6 zoomed in @ 100%. If it wasn't there in the first place, why is it there now?

    Thanks for your reply!
RAW files at higher ISO's (2500-3200) open in Photoshop and zoomed in at 100% look fine, with minimal noise. After saving in PS as a JPEG and opening in the Windows 8 Photo app or Windows Photo Viewer, they appear with terrible noise. In Faststone they do not have this noise. The only adjustments to size I do on my images are cropping to either 4x6 or 11x14 proportions depending on the photo. When I realized lowering the resolution was helping tremendously with my situation, I sized down to 150dpi and 72dpi, depending on the image, with resembling.
Older files and lower ISO files recently shot do not have this issue.
    I shoot with a 5D MK II.

  • Mac Mini Freezing (graphics problem, I think?)

    Hello everyone,
I'm a new Mac Mini owner and my experience so far has been great, but my machine is freezing (jittery blue artifacts/boxes/glitchy lines) and becoming unresponsive when I do the following:
Rotating  in Manga Studio 5 OR Photoshop CS6
Zooming/panning in Google Maps in Chrome
    My Mac Mini is:
    2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz) with 3MB L3 cache
    8 GB (two 2GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 memory
    500 GB (5400-rpm) hard drive
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
I have OSX Mavericks installed and both Manga Studio, Photoshop and Chrome are all up-tp-date. I've searched previous posts and couldn't find anything that seemed relevant, so my apologies if this has been asked before and I just missed it. Seems like a graphics issue, I think. There are no drivers to update, right?
    Thanks for the help!

I'm not sure it is your graphics card since works fine on my 2012 Mini but I have 16GB RAM which then provides more for the graphics 4000 to use and also I7 processor.  The graphics 4000 is better than many believe.  I use it for video editing and no issues.  I also have an SSD but so not sure that is the reason.

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 keeps zooming into previews

Hi guys. I'm using Adobe Bridge CS6 to browse some media content, but each time I preview a video, it plays zoomed in about 20% or so. It does this for all video clips, all sizes, no matter how I try to reconfigure the layout, use OUTPUT mode, FILMSTRIP mode, ESSENTIALS etc, it still shows zoomed in.
    I'm running Win7 64bit with a GTX570 with updated drivers.
    Please help. Thanks.

    You mean 200 % instead of 20 %??
Use the loupe on an image and check what the default zoom percentage is, it should show 100 % and if it is at 200 % you have to use your mouse scroll wheel to set it back to 100 % (it runs from 100 % to 200, 400 and 800 %).
If your video files exceed the preview window you have to enlarge this window or if the behavior keeps this way consider to reset the preferences of Bridge holding down control key while restarting Bridge and choose reset prefs.

  • Problem with zoom in Photoshop CS6

    Hello
I've got problem with new(?) feature in Photoshop CS6.
When I'm working on my project and have for example 150% zoom and I want to move workspace with SPACE+LMB.
In my previous version (CS3) I can do this without problem but know Photoshop shows me my file with FIT TO SCREEN zoom and some frame to choose
which screen area I want to zoom in.
It's just zooming out to full view of file. I hate this, but I can't turn it off.

I was just being sarcastic. I knew it is a feature while searching for a way to fix the issue awhile back. I am very interested in knowing if any user out there could somehow fix the problem by reseting, reinstalling, etc. I got an update a few hours ago, and that didnt fix it either.
I have tried a lot of suggestions, and the only one seems to be working for me is to turn on "Scrubby Zoom"
    Noel,
I run Adobe CS5 on MBP 10.6 and CS6 on MBPr 10.8. No additional plugins, English US keyboard. The laptops come with standard configuration... nonetheless, they both have the same issue.
I am sure my computers have different settings from others, but this issue does not seem to be isolate as there are other users have experience it too.
I personally, don't think it is too hard to re-create.  Most likely happen when
    1. Hold down space+command to zoom in
    2. Release keys, then hold down space and start moving around
    3. there you go, "bird's eye view" comes
One thing I notice is that the problem does not occur all the time.

  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

  • How do I add a zoom function to a digital magazine (.swf file) in InDesign CS6?

    Hi,
Im creating an interactive digital magazine for our company which will go on the iPad, but also online for computers.
The iPad (.folio) has zoom functions, but on screen (.swf) the magazine is very static and peaple can't zoom and scroll (the zooming buttons function in InDesign doesn't work here).
So, how do I add a zoom function to a digital magazine (.swf file) in InDesign CS6?
(I read older posts regarding this problem in CS5... It's not possible for me to purchase an additional product for that. I have Flash, if there is a tutorial on how to do it, that'd be helpful too)
    Thanks for your help!
    Best regards!

Although the help implies this should work, and I've seen it written in a book to do things this way, it's not how I do things:
    var content_req1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("text/hales.txt");
    var content_ldr:URLLoader = new URLLoader(content_req1);
    content_ldr.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete1);
    Instead, try:
    var content_req1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("text/hales.txt");
    var content_ldr:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    content_ldr.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete1);
    content_ldr1.load(content_req1);

  • Bridge CS6 - Preview Panel Zoom level

    Greetings-
In using Adobe Bridge CS6 (w/latest updates as of 06/13/2014), when previewing video files, the preview panel will automatically zoom into the video. I've tried resetting the preferences (Holding down control while starting), resetting the workspaces - this has not worked.
I saw in another thread where the author mentioned a "zoom toolbar" but this only refers to the thumbnail panel - NOT the preview panel.

    I'm running Bridge CS6 64bit
I'm sorry, am a Mac user and rarely use movies. Although a .MOV file shows without problems in my preview window. And your screenshot only shows part of the workspace, maybe try again with the whole screen and the preview window  filled with zoom?
Try another workspace and even try to reset preferences again, sometimes it needs more then once to solve a problem. And Windows is very critical for the use of correct graphic card drivers but that is out my league I'm afraid.
