CSM-S connections under Redundancy

We have installed two redundant Catalyst 6506E with CSM-S modules.
Now I can see that CSM-S #1 is active and CSM-S #2 is standby. Nevertheless I can see with "show mod csm 3 vserver" that there are a number of connections on the vservers on CSM-S #2, while there are no connections on the CSM-S #1.
Can anyone explain this behavior?
Thank you.
Martin Funke.

You probably have 'replicate csrp' configured on 1 or more Vservers. If that is true, the connections you are seeing are the result of session replication - i.e. the primary CSM telling the standby CSM what load balancing decisions he has made. In the event of a primary CSM failure, your standby CSM has all of the replicated sessions ready to go.

  • Replacement catalyst 6500 switches under redundancy environment

    Hi everyone,
I plan to replace old core catalyst 6500 switches with new ones for the purpose of reinforcement.
Now two core catalyst 6500 switches are working under redundancy environment.
There are many catalyst 6500 switches as distribution switch connect to each core catalyst
    6500 switches as attached.
I think there are two ways to replace core catalyst 6500 switches.
    [One]
Replacing one core catalyst 6500 switches first, then one week later, replacing another core
catalyst 6500 switch. And all traffic will be handled another core catalyst 6500 switch automatically
    by EIGRP routing during replacement.
    Advantage:
One another core catalyst 6500 switch continues operating even if the replacement fail.
    Disadvantage:
Two core catalyst 6500 switches will operate in a different version (CatOS, MSFC IOS) for one week.
Any problem might be happened due to this issue.
    [Two]
Replacing both core catalyst 6500 switches at the same time.
    Advantage:
Replacement will be finished at one time
    Disadvantage:
If the replacement fail, whole network goes to down and it cause critical situation.
I have to replace successfully so I would like know good information about this, such as
best practice, case study and so on.
Your information would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,

    Hi,
If I were you, I will go for option 1.
This option will give us the time to observe the traffic pattern, time to get the network and EIGRP to stabilize and even to check for any issues on the IOS part.
This will give you time frame to work out for any issue if it happens in between the weeks time. This will gibe you tha time to see for any imcompatibilty issues as such.
HTH, Please rate if it does.

  • Bluetooth Headset won't stay connected under 10.6

My PS3 headset use to stay connected under leopard but something in snow leopard doesnt like it. If I can get it connected it'll stay connected for a min. And i cant get the input meter to pickup any audio from the device. However on my iPhone and PS# it works flawlessly. I've tried re-parring it and making sure all my other bluetooth items are off but it still does the same. Any suggestions?

Ugh, NO ONE?  This is absolutely stupid.

  • WRT54GS v1.0 Drops Connection under Vista, Fix?

Since an upgrade to vista my router has been droping the internet connection at random times, and quite frequently. Sometimes i will be connected for hours, other times it will drop every 5 minutes. This problem did not exist under XP, nor does the net cut out on other XP based machines. Occasionally it will drop the connection, and not see any networks (there are several in my area). Other times it will show my network with the name "Unnamed Network" and not allow me to connect to it. I'm thinking there is an issue with Vista autodetecting the network? Went to look for the latest firmware, but seems linksys is almost a year behind since their last release (i updated anyways). Also why is there no tech support email clearly posted on their site to address them with this question? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Upon further review, every time my internet cuts out on my Vista laptop, it is also cutting out on my wife's XP laptop. The internet does NOT drop on my wired XP machine. They both drop at the same time, what does this indicate? Again this is new since adding a vista computer to the network, this router has been rock solid for well over a year otherwise.
I also went through tech support (before i realized all wireless was dropping at the same time) and they confirmed this router should work with Vista.
Is it just bad luck my router went bad at the same time i installed Vista? Or is Vista somehow affecting this? And to the above poster, thanks for the advice, but i swapped out my internal Intel 3945ABG adapter with my other laptop (same adapter of course) and it did not change anything. I'm led to believe this is Vista borking it, or my router just went/is going bad?
    Anyone?

  • RDE client crashes on connect under bootcamp Windows 7

Remote Desktop (RDE) clint crashes soon after connection from Windows 7 running on bootcamp partition. I am able to connect to the remote computer from other machines. I am even able to connect to the remote computer with Mac OS on the computer. Just fails when I boot using Windows 7.
It appears that the problem has to do with the Video card driver on the 27" iMac under bootcamp. At least that is the Error logged on the remote computer after crash.
Are there better video drivers for bootcamp that what comes from Apple? Appreciate any help!

    Hi probe_driod.
Thanks for your help. I ran software update this morning and the only thing that appeared was an updated version of iTunes. I manually downloaded the Graphics Firmware update but it said it did not apply to my system.
It is to my understanding that i cannot install Bootcamp 4 over the top of my Bootcamp 3.3 installation without first removing my bootcamp partition (therefore destroying all of my data) and then installing bootcamp again from scratch. Is this correct?

  • Connection under OS X

hi, i have a new macbook and i cant connect to the internt under mac OS X at school. When I was in windows XP, i just went to the internet options and entered the address and port and everything worked. The ethernet cable is well plugged as it works under windows XP. How do I have to set those things up under mac OS X to have it working ? Under os X the macbook seems to be only looking at wireless connections...
    thanks a lot

    Hi chris, do the following:
    1. Go Into System preferences
    2. Then chose either airport or ethernet (which ever one you use)
    3. Then choose proxies.

  • Mac app store will not connect under a managed user account but will under admin. Please help clear this up?

After I have installed OSX Mountain lion I clicked on the app store to buy an app. Only one problem, it says it "cannot connect", I then tried under the admin account and it worked no problem. I log back into the managed user account and disable any parental controls that might be interferring, I try again and it worked. I need the mac app store to work under the managed user with parental controls on. I cleared the iTunes store cache and reset the warnings just to see if that might do the trick but no luck. When the latest update was availble I updated immediatly in hopes of that might fixing the problem but again it did not work.  I would really appreciate if anyone had any ideas on how to help solve this issue.
    -Thanks

Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1

  • Connecting Under Boot Camp - WRT610N

I recently replaced an old Belkin router with the WRT610N.  I've benn very happy with this router with one exception.  I have a Macbook Pro.  Under the Mac operating system, I have not problem connecting.  Running XP under Boot Camp is a diffferent story.  It will connect for a few minutes, but then the link becomes non-responsive (limited ot no connectivity) and I have to log off and then back on.  This never happened with the Belkin router, and other PCs, an Apple TV, and an iPhone connect wirelessly without a hitch.  So I suspect this is something about the Linksys router.
Can anyone help me with this problem?  It happens on both bands.  If it's relevant, the 5GHz band is network mode Wireless-N only, radio band Auto, WPA2-Personal with WPA-TKIP or WPA2-AES encryption.  The 2.4GHz band (the one I prefer to use for this problamatic connection) is network mode Mixed, radio band Auto, WPA-Personal with TKIP encryption.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Upgrade the Firmware on the router as the new firmware has resolved many issues for wireless connection...Also make sure that the radio band for 2.4GHz Frequency is set to standard-20MHz and standard channel should be 11-2.462GHz...Also the network mode should be Mixed on both the frequencies...

  • No wlan connection under XP / Bootcamp 2.0

    Hi,
I've set up a perfectly stable Windows XP Professional (SP2) under Boot Camp 2.0 - unfortunately I only have LAN, but no WLAN connection. All drivers have been installed, but whatever I try, I can't connect to the internet. The ipconfig seems to be ok., nevertheless I can only connect to my LAN and workgroup, but not to the internet.
Maybe I should upgrade boot camp to the newest version? How do you do this? Do I have to upgrade Boot Camp on OSX first and then on Windows?

  • CSm loosing connections every 4 hours ?

    Hi,
We upgraded our CSm to V4.2.2 and for one of the VIP, it looses connections to the 4 real servers every 4 hours ! Anybody has any idea what could cause this to happen ? If I use IOS SLB, I do not have this problem...

    Gilles,
The Servers's default gateway point to the MSFC. To get the MSFC to route traffic back towards the CSM when the servers reply, we NAT the connections on the CSM with a NAT pool. and have a route for teh NAT pool on the MSFC to send the traffic back to the CSM...
We tryed changing the arp timeout using the CSM set variable command but still same symptoms... We are using router mode for this one.
All connections to the 4 real servers disapears but the CSm does not report the reals as being out of service. I am assuming the problem is on the CSM but it could be the servers as well. It is just odd that the 4 servers would drop all connections at the same time every 4 hours...And by going back to IOS SLB and not doing any NAT, the problem goes away.
We're trying to get some packet trace to help out the troubleshooting...
    Cheers

  • CSM-S SSL card redundancy

We have 2 Catalyst 6500s with CSM-S cards installed. The CSMs are in redundant configuration already. The SSL offloading is configured in bridged mode. CSM provides redundancy for the client VLAN. How do we provide redundancy for the SSL cards? Do we use HSRP for the bridged VLAN that exists in the SSL? Do we use HSRP for the SSL admin VLAN? Is there a document the references redundancy configuration specifiacally for the CSM-S (SSL daughter cards)? Thanks.

I guess you can use the HSRP and CSM-S failover configuration to provide redundancy. The following document presents a scenario similar to yours. Hope this helps.

  • Slow internet connection under OS X, but not under Bootcamp (XP)

I'm using airport internet connection, and I have no idea why the internet is so much slower under OS X than it is under Windows. I tried using 'many' different browsers on both operating systems, and the result is the same. Leopard is clearly having trouble handling the bandwidth, and it's been like this as far as I can remember. All my software is up to date.
If anyone could help me understand this problem better, that would be appreciated.

    G'day,
From your post - I presume that you are using Windows on your MacBook? Or is it a separate computer? (If it is your MacBook, that eliminates hardware as a factor).
Have you attempted to measure the speed difference? There are numerous speed tests available on the net. To some extent the numbers generated are a bit random (other factors can influence speed on a particular connection), but it would be useful if the tests were done in close succession on the same machine.
What kind of wireless router are you using? Sometimes there can be incompatibilities between the router and OS X. Check for firmware updates and the like.
Is there anything else running on OS X which could be accessing the internet at the same time as your browser? As an example, the MobileMe Backup can certainly hog the bandwidth.
After considering these things, there might be some further troubleshooting steps to look at.
    Cheers,
    Rodney
