CSS - Buttons (Display vs Inline)

I'm using CSS to create rollover buttons with an image
defined in the #navigation a, and an alternate image in the
#navigation a:hover. Unfortunately, the display: block; forces a
break and doesn't allow me to set the images next to each other -
And the 'inline' won't allow me to work with the spacing or
backgrounds properly (it broke when I tried inline). Is there a way
to get around this so I can sit these buttons next to each other?

Safari no longer able to display PDFs inline?

When I visit a site in Safari that displays a PDF inline, Safari refuses to display it and downloads it instead. Anyone else having this problem? In Snow Leopard, Safari could display PDFs inline in the browser just fine...

Same problem here. As soon as I upgraded to OS X Lion, Safari now downloads PDF's and then launches the viewer. I always loved that Safari was able to view PDF's inline without having to download and launch an external viewer.
Hopefully Apple will fix this soon!

I know how to add a hyperlink to text or image but am stumped with the CSS buttons provided by DW.

Doing my first web page and was trying out the CSS buttons in the widgets. Can't see where to set the property for the web link.

CSS Button Links in HTML email not working in TB

Greetings,
Our company is creating an html email for customers and we are noticing the CSS button links don't work when viewing in Thunderbird 31 and 32 beta.
Does TB require unique coding to get these to work?
Any assistance would be appreciated...

From the point of view of a user who views received email messages in Thunderbird, it doesn't support scripting. Straight links should work and and you can attach a link to an image.
Note that Thunderbird does NOT offer active links in the Compose window. So however you create it, you won't see it as the recipient does unless you save it and view it as a draft.

How to adjust R/W rules to display images inline?

Hi all,
out of the box, when I insert an image in a paragraph (DITA 1.2) then FrameMaker 12 uses the "below line" display setting. I need to display it inline, at the insertion point.
When I adjust the settings of the anchored frame then the inline setting is lost when saving the XML file. So evidently I need to adjust the R/W rules.
I tried to add a corresponding inline rule but had no success so far, does anybody know what needs to be done? It seems like a quite common requirement to display images inline.

     I just did a non-DITA test of the r/w rule:
         element "Image" {
      is fm graphic element;
      attribute "placement" {
        is fm property position;
        value "inline" is fm property value inline;
        value "break" is fm property value bottom;
     My test document had two Image elements, one positioned at the insertion point, one at the bottom of the column. In both cases, the placement attribute was set correctly when I saved the document as XML and interpreted correctly when I opened the XML document.
    Robert, does your EDD define the placement attribute? If so (and you want to keep it), you need to add the subrule
        is fm attribute;
to the attribute subrule. However, since setting the attribute in the FM document does not affect the anchored frame position, so I recommend deleting the attribute from the EDD. The r/w rule I suggest assumes the attribute is XML-only.
    Before you make that change, though, I wonder if the value "inline" appears in italics in the Structure View. Italics indicates the default value for an attribute that has not been set. That would explain why you see the value in the Structure View but not in the attribute editor.

Button Display Symptom

I have 3 regions on a page and the 2nd region has 4 buttons and an SQL query report which displays data from EMP.
There are two page item:
HIDE_SHOW -- which is Show to show the data and Hide to hide the data.
P1_SAL_LIMIT -- which limits the employees shown by salary: 0 (default), 1500 or 2000
The buttons are:
Show -- which, when pressed, shows the report (Not the entire region just the data lines of the report.)
              (The Show button displays when :HIDE_SHOW = 'Hide'. Note the data is hidden when this button displays.)
Hide -- which, when pressed, hides the report
              (The Hide button displays when :HIDE_SHOW = 'Show' and the data is being displayed.)
SAL > 1500 -- Which show only employees with sal > 1500
SAL > 2000 -- which show only employees with sal > 2000
The Query is
select ename,job,sal
    from emp
   where :HIDE_SHOW = 'Show' and SAL > :P1_SAL_LIMIT
What works:
Show, Hide and Sal > 1500 work fine together. Note: the Sal > 1500 button sets :HIDE_SHOW to 'Show' so one can see the data.
But I need to do a computation when a Sal button is pressed, so here is what I tried. The SAL > 2000 button is set up with Dynamic Actions (PL/SQL block and page refresh). Note: I need to do a branch to (the same) page or a refresh rather than a page submit because of activity which may be pending in the other regions on the page.
What I need /expected when Sal > 2000 is pressed: Tthe Hide button will display because :HIDE_SHOW is set to 'Show' and data is being displayed.
Problem when Sal > 2000 is pressed: Even though I set :HIDE_SHOW to 'Show' in the computation, pressing Sal > 2000 has no effect on the Show button.
It's a Session State problem, right? But I'm not sure how to solve it without a Submit.   I added a Set Value to the DAs but that did not solve the problem.
How do I get the "Show" button to react to the change in the value of :HIDE_SHOW?

Yes, you're right, the Show buttons were not quite working, sorry, I was concentrating on the filters. I fixed the hide show for the first region. Region 2 is mostly there and you can replicate the functionality for that one. However, the Sal filter buttons for region 2 do work and you can see how it all works independently. Please concentrate on the techniques.
The basic steps for the filters are:
1. Set the filter limit
2. Set the Hide_Show variable
3. Hide the Show button
4. Show the Hide button
5. Refresh the report.
Notice the computations. They are needed to initialize the values.
I also changed things so they don't trigger off the change of value of an item. That just seems obscure to me when the user cannot directly change the item. It seems better to trigger off button clicks. That's what the "Report 1 SHOW button" and "Report 1 HIDE button" DA are for. If you look at them I think they are really easy to follow (Show button, Hide the other button, Set the Hide_Show filter, Refresh report)
When you break it down into individual steps and give meaningful names to your elements (items, regions, da, etc..) I think it all becomes a lot more maintainable.
I have definitely seen unmaintainable applications since I started with APEX way back on HTMLDB 1.6. That said, they are mostly easy to maintain when things are well thought out and steps are broken down into easy understandable actions.

Now I find a function AVToolButtonSetComputeEnabledProc in SDK that this function only control the button enable or disenable.
Now I want to control the custom button display or hide, how can I to do?
Does this SDK have a API to achieve my need?

As of Acrobat X, we no longer support dynamic hiding/showing – only enable/disable.

CSS Buttons in Blog Module Template Help

I am using css buttons for my social icons in my blog side bar. I have included the css stylesheet in the overall blog module template as well as well as the button text. The icons appear when I view the blog in list view, however when I try to view an individual post, the icons do not appear, just the button text. The buttons work on all other web pages within BC as well. Thanks for any help

Have you set the paths for your images and css as ... src="/images/" etc?
In BC CSS, JS, images etc need to start with a forward slash to say "read from root".

I have new requirement that create push button to reject all line items in complaint page.
I have done all changes. Now button is functioning as expected.

Thank you, as per your suggestion, created bound in "WD_USGE_INITIALIZE" method, initially in this method for Button usage only "BTADMINH" bound was there. Now added BTADMINI as well.
BTADMINI Entity gets populated now. Issue is backend is not updated with the value we are passing from UI.
We have a button in frontend which is used to reject all items of the order.
But if we click the button, item (BTADMINI) entity get filled now, using the entity, calling the execute method with the value of "SetRejectReason" but if we look at the beckend item status still in Open and not "Reject".

Play button displaying on all slides

When I view a published project in SCORM cloud or in Moodle the play button displays on every slide. This doesn't happen when i view the project locally.
Does anyone know how to stop this? I can't use auto play as this is not compatible with html5 output.

"Save Search" button displays above SubTab region for QueryRN

I've created a subTab layout and on the first tab, a QueryRN with resultsBasedSaearch, I've enabled simple, views, and advanced panels. The QueryRN is on the first tab, I have other details on the subsequent tabs.
The "Save Search" button displays above the subTab bean. This means that when I navigate to another subTab, I still see "Save Search".
Can I move this button declaratively? or do I need to show and hide it with controller code?

hmm. the other tabs do not have query beans. It seems this button defaults to a page level button even though I do not have a page level button layout. btw, I'm using the OASubTabBarBean declaratively.

Button displayed among this region's items clears fields

I've created a Button displayed among this region's items clears fields that's in the middle of my form, set to Submit Before...
When click the button, it submits and the field items above the button clear off the form.
I don't need it to submit, I just need it to make three fields appear on the form if needed, hence the use of the button.

You need to place html code that is produced into the html snippet on your website and click apply for any code to work on your site. An index.html page is no good to you, to be used in iWeb as iWeb has no import facility.
Take your html code and place it in an html snippet and see what happens.

In Widget Library section, you have a State Button widget in composition.
You can use that button and apply different states/effects to it and create a hyperlink to it.
