CSS Designer suddenly inactive for .less

Hi,
a short while ago (~15min.) I was editing a .less file with the CSS Designer. Now, suddenly, the CSS Designer is not accessible/usable anymore with .less. Still works with regular css files. With the .less, the CSS Designer sections still show, and they react when I browse through the .less code. Only I cannot select or change anything anymore in the CSS Designer. It's all greyed out.
Any idea how that happened or how to fix it?
Thanks!
Regards, Ralf.

For "suddenly stopped working" issues, I go straight for clearing the program cache/deleting the config folder...

Get an in-depth look at the powerful new CSS Designer tools in Dreamweaver CC. Intuitive visual editing tools help you generate clean, web-standard code and quickly apply CSS properties like gradients and box shadows. You can see the effects on your designs immediately, eliminating tedious tweaking and the need to go back and forth to Code view.
    http://adobe.ly/ZSeWkr

The new CSS Designer feature in Dreamweaver CC is a very nice addition to the interface’s workflow. However, it’s not best for all workflows, whereby there should still be a non-assisted CSS editor option available, like in CS6, “without” all the new visual designer tools.
In CS6’s CSS properties editor you can quickly glance at the currently selected element’s CSS properties and directly edit the actual property values in a column format making this a very precise and straightforward workflow process.
For me, the ability to quickly edit CSS properties by clicking on respective elements in the design view editor is the biggest advantage and real power for using Dreamweaver over notepad type editors. Without this option (when working in split mode), it requires switching back and forth between different style-sheets and code view.
Though I really like everything else I’ve seen so far, in this latest version, this seemingly small feature restriction will considerably slow down my overall typical workflow process in most cases.  So, until a non-assisted CSS properties editor option is available, I’ll continue using CS6. Please, please fix this soon! Hopefully this is only a short-term oversight and resolved in a very near future update.

Doesn't sound like it.  It sounds like you're being logged-off.
Does your Mac go through the complete Restart cycle -- black screen, gray and/or blue screen momentarily, startup chime, etc?
If you're not sure, do a Restart just to watch the process; the next time the problem occurs, see if it's the same.
You need to know which it is, as these will have very different causes, and different places to look for a solution.

  • Watchless - a simple Bash helper for LESS to CSS compilation

Here is a simple Bash tool for LESS files compilation, watching your .less files using inotifywait and compiling CSS on file change.
Supports @import-ed files. Compiled files can go in the current directory or in another directory, keeping the directory structure intact (~/Project/less/style.less to ~/Project/css/style.css for example)
Not well tested, may be dangerous.
    AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/watchless/

I place all my LESS files, along with all of the JavaScript files in a sub-directory called _src (for source files). The _scr folder is Cloaked so that it is not included in file transfers. The structure looks like
    _src
        js
              bootstrap
                  ..... // files go here
              fonts
                  ..... // files go here
              jquery
                  ..... // files go here
myscripts.js // scripts of my own that I want added
scripts.js  // contains imported JS files that are combined and minified into one production script
        less
              bootstrap
                  ..... // files go here
              fonts
                  ..... // files go here
              footer.less //
              form.less //
header.less  // these files are for the various parts of the template and or documents
              main.less //
              nav.less //
styles.less // contains imported LESS files that are combined and minified into one production style sheet
I will then use PrePros to compile the JS and CSS files making for just two HTTP requests.
Have a look at source code (lines 7 and 110) of this site.
Incidentally, by using PrePros, not only do the LESS and JS files get compiled automatically, any saved changes are immediately visible in my browser without having to refresh each time.

  • Try to browse for a background img in CSS Designer panel, and it closes the window

Using CSS Designer panel, when I try to select a background image, I use the little folder icon (browse) and when I click on my Images folder the window closes. Anyone get this result?

  • CSS Designer vs. the CS6 CSS tab

Since designing responsive layouts, I've been using compound selectors like mad. The CS6 panel was pretty straghtforward in letting you choose your complexity (Less specific/more specific) based on a highlighted selction. In CC, the Compound path seems to be the default, and the CSS Designer seems simpler by providing (not needed) visuals of the properties and values. Anyone else have thoughts?

  • My iPod Touch [gen 3] battery suddenly is lasting less than an hour.

I've had my iPod since the summer of 2010.  It's worked fine up until the last week or so.  My original cord's white covering started to fray and you can see the silver wire protection, so I bought a new one.  That one worked fine, but then it started giving me a screen on my iPod that said "Charging is not compatible with this accessory."  And about three months ago, that cord just stopped working all together.  So, I switched back to my original after putting electrical tape on it and it charges with no problem now.  Well, now it's three months later and my iPod is suddenly only holding a charge for less than an hour.  I put it on the charger when I go to bed, and take it off when I wake up.  The only other time it goes on my charger is when it dies suddenly, or if I'm listening to it in my car because it charges it automatically when I plug it in through the USB cord to my CD player in my car.  But, I'm really ticked off that it's already breaking because it's only 2 years old, and I can't afford another one.
Does anyone know what could possibly be making my iPod die so fast?  I have notifications turned off of most of my apps, the only exception is Draw Something, Facebook, and Words With Friends.  I have my brightness at the medium setting.  And I've deleted a lot of apps this morning in case that was the problem.  I don't listen to music that often on it, when I do it's when I plug it into my car.  I mostly play games and stuff, but I took it off the charger an hour and fifteen minutes ago, and within 45 minutes I got the notification that I had 20% battery left.

    1. Check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
    2. If not, follow these instructions.
    3. You can also try resetting the SMC.
    4. Make sure your system is up to date in Software Update.
    5. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

  • Flash Builder 4 CSS Design Mode

    Hello,
I would like to know why CSS Design mode was removed from Flash Builder 4?
I am a Design/Developer so it was much easier for me to use CSS in Design mode.
What are my options? Is there any other tools for visual editing CSS for a Flex application?
    Thanks

Hi Fernando, sorry for the delayed response.  CSS Design Mode is not available for Flex 4 projects, but it is still available in Flex 3 projects.  The reason for this is that designing components in Flex 4 is often a lot different, since it relies highly on the new spark skinning architecture.  There is, however, an Appearance panel available in design view which supplies a set of the main inheriting styles. Setting these styles in the Appearance panel will result in assigning values to a global style selector.
    I hope this helps,
    Rob

  • How to set image border with CSS Designer?

I must be missing something obvious...
I need to set an image border. I select the image. But I don't see any relevant inline style option in CSS Designer.
It only lets me change <inline style> : td but there's no option for the image.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Leo

    Thanks John,
Yes, obviously I select the image.
    However, it doesn't change anything.
I don't get the "img" selector whatever choice I select it the Sources pane.
    What am I missing?

  • CSS Designer problem

I am on the fifth tutorial.  It was going fine at first, but now when I try to edit the properties of a selector in the CSS Designer, every time I change a value it somehow exits the properties page (and the selector) so that I have to select main.css and then select the selector I was working on (#mainnav ul) again to be able to continue editing the properties.  This wasn't happening before, so I'm not sure what happened, if I inadvertently changed a setting or what.  Please help!  It will take me forever to do anything if I have to navigate my way back for each property I need to edit instead of being able to do it all at once.

I'm still not sure what the problem was, but quitting Dreamweaver and opening it again seemed to solve the problem.  I would be great to know what the cause was, though, just in case it happens again.  (Or so I don't make the same mistake again).  If anyone has an idea, your thoughts would be much appreciated

  • List Padding in CSS Designer

I'm trying to set up an unordered list as a navigation menu using CSS Designer. I've set the list-style-type to none, but when I try to use CSS Designer to set the padding for the UL to 0px, it works initially, but when I turn Live View off and then back on, the padding returns. I know how to make this work by typing in the CSS manually, but I'm wondering if there's a way to make it work using CSS Designer.

    Ah, I see what you're saying. I think that's proabably a bug.
If you turn on the little chain link in the center of the padding or margin, then type in a zero for one of the sides, it functions correctly (which is what I was doing). If you only type a zero without turning on the link first, it does nothing. As you've found, if you put something else in first, then go to zero it works correctly.
Here's the best place to report that bug...

  • Setting a background image using CSS Designer

I am trying to set a background image for a page header using the CSS Designer. When I click the browse button the Select Image Source dialog box launches but any time I click on something the dialog box closes and no changes are made. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Which DW are you using and which platform/OS, please? I am unable to reproduce this with CC2014 on OS10.9.4

  • CSS code completely fouled up by CSS designer

I'm having a bunch of bugs with Dreamewaver CC. Inserting images in code view or in design view always places them in the wrong place. For example inserting an image using Cmnd/Ctrl + Alt/Option + i with the cursor placed before paragraph 1 will insert the image after the last paragraph in the document or some other random place in the page. The only thing that kind of works is that the insert stays in the right div.
That's not the worst of it. I made a few edits to a fluid layout using the new CSS design panel and all of the line feeds and line breaks have dissapeared making the code extremely hard to read, troubleshoot and edit. Has anyone seen this?
Here's what the code looks like now:

    What a mess.
    Mac, OSX 10.8.4, Dreamweaver 13.0  Build 6391
NOTE: If I use something like Styleneat to clean up this code it seems to break the styles for the Mobile and Tablet layouts and causes Dreamweaver to crash every time I turn on or off the fluid grid layout display.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix this and turn it back into readable code without going through each line and looking for natural breaks?

  • Properties disappear in CSS Designer panel intermittently

I am experiencing the properties for a CSS rule dissaperaing intermitantly from the CSS Designer Panel but not reappearing  in CC since the latest update. The only way I have been ableto fix this has been to quit DW and re open. Sometimes happens 3 to 4 times in a row then maybe not for days. I am using fluid grids for this project. Has any one else experinced this and is there a fix.
Very anoying bug - seems the last update created more than it fixed

The link to the latest page this is causing a problem on is...
    http://www.branchingoutcairns.com.au/services.html
.....there are others from other projects which leads me to believe it is a DW bug but have a look you might pick up something for which I would be grateful
The issue comes around when ever you try to alter padding or margin or corner radius and not all the time - as I said could happen forur times in a row or not for days
