CSS Panel Disappearing Styles

Since CS4 in my reckoning, the CSS panel has been glitchy, sometimes having some or all styles disappear. Also the style sometimes is not selectable in order to delete but constantly displays the edit name field instead. Selecting and/or hovering over styles has them disappear or indeed all styles disappear.
Why doesn't Adobe address Mac issues? How come there isn't a menu item to direct Feedback?
Color me frustrated again...

Here's what I do. I create the page using an embedded
stylesheet. When I'm
ready to publish, I copy the embedded stylesheet into the
body of the page
(immediately below the <body> tag). That has worked
pretty fine for me.

  • Css style in css panel but it is not entering into the actual css linked file

I have entered a couple of class styles in my css panel but when I go to view the actual linked css file those styles are not there. Of course, previewing and viewing on the server do not show the styles. I know I can manually enter them in the file but that kind of defeats the purpose of the panel. Any ideas?  Thanks.

Did you save the CSS file after making changes to it?

  • Keep style sheets collapsed in CSS Panel CS6

Is there a way to open pages with style sheet rules collapsed and keep them collapsed. Everytime I open a page it expands all of the rules and I have to close them one by one. THX

    Thanks for your response
This is the first time I have tried DTSS. Like you I have sites that don't play well in design view so, for the most part  like you  I code manually, but I like to use display view to click on the element I am looking for to select it quickly rather than trawling through lines of code to find what I want to work on in code view.
I think you misunderstood my problem. In an arttached style sheet I have a style which is set to "display: none" bto hide jQuery tabs when JS is inaactive. When JS is atcive in the browser it dislays teh tabs Because in design view, JS is normally inactive the tabs are not be visible so I want a DTSS to set the tabs to "Display: inline" so I can see them while I work on on the page.
The problem is that the DTSS sits at the top of the cascade in the CSS panel and I can find no way to put it at the bottom of the cascade. Consequently, although I have "display: inline" in the DTSS, in my regular style sheet, which sits below the DTSS in the cascade,  I have "display: none", so the latter prevails and I can not see the tabe while I work in code/design view! So I can not click on the tabs in display view to get to ithem quckly in code view!
Not lethal but a nuisance. If anyone knows how to force DTSS to the bottom of the cascade so it is read last I would be very grateful for the informaton

  • Tabbed panel disappears in my pages

I am building a tabbed panel menu bar in a template in Dreamweaver, and the tabs keep disappearing.
My template file is fine, and they view online, but any page I build from this template seems to hide the tabs or the little 'eye' icon disappears. I then can't edit any of the tabs when creating new pages.
Does anyone know how to permenantly switch on these tabs within my Dreamweaver pages so they are always visible? Is there any way to just lock them in the place they appear when online?
Thank you so much - it's driving me insane

More than likely, a coding problem.  Although Design View is not 100% reliable -- especially with Widgets.
Validate your code and fix any reported errors.
    Code Validation Tools
    CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
    HTML - http://validator.w3.org/
If that doesn't solve your problem, try disabling your CSS.  View > Style Rendering > un-tick Display Styles.  You'll see an unstyled HTML page which you might find easier to edit.  Disabling CSS won't effect Live View or Preview in Browsers.

  • Am I the only person who is struggling to use the CSS panel in DW CC?!

I'm new to Dreamweaver CC this week (CS5 previously and CS2 before that ... total of 7 years use) ... was looking forward to the upgrades (and I can see there are lots which is great), but I'm finding the new CSS panel totally frustrating!  It's so much more time consuming an in my opinion in no way user friendly ... especially for those of us who spend every day using them.    I've now reverted back to hand coding my style sheet which means I'm having to switch between screens all the time (still works out to be less time consuming that trying to work with the new CSS panel though!).
I'm all for change, but this seems to be one big change which wasn't needed and certainly isn't benefical (to me anyway!).  I can see that is probably more likely to help those who are starting out as it has the diagrams to show you what the styling is doing, but for me thats just taking up realestate.
I was also looking forward to taking advantage of the dual screen option (especially as I'm now hand coding the style sheet), but it seems its only the panels you can move across to the second screen and not the HTML or CSS pages ... Arrgghhhh!!!
I'll give it another week and then I'm done I think ... which is a shame because there is lots I like about it, but at the moment, this new baby just isn't working for me!

I'm really hoping so because the website I'm building at the moment is taking twice as long as normal - previously I could click on the element I wanted to style, then click on the '+' button at the bottom of the CSS properties block and the styling box would pop up - now its lots of scrolling and then knowing whether to press enter, or tab or just click away to add the styling ... driving me absolutely nuts!

  • How do I add "a:hover" into CSS panel? DW says "no punctuation" allowed....

When I use "Create a new CSS rule" and attempt to add "a:hover" tag rule into my CSS panel, DW gives me an error message that no puntucation is allowed in the name. But if I manually create the rule in the CSS style sheet itself, then it works just fine, and the rule will then appear in the CSS panel.
What the heck am I missing? Is this just something that has to be lived with? Or is there a way to create the "a:hover" rule by using the "Create a new CSS rule"?
    Thanks for any help........................

It's not the most intuitive CSS panel.
In the Selector Type dropdown for Class/ID/Tag/Compound, select Compound
In the Selector Name dropdown, you'll then see body, a:link, a:visited, a:hover, a:active.
Select a:hover and you're on your way.

  • .CSS not in Style dropdown box

I have checked several resources to make sure that I have
attached my .CSS properly yet they still do not appear in the
"Style" dropdown box. Nor do I see the ability to apply the style
in my .CSS panel, yet I do see the external styles listed in the
panel. What the heck is going on? Has IS stripped my software so
good that it is not working properly?

ID or type selectors will not appear in that list, since they
    are
automatically applied. The only selectors you will see there
    are the custom
classes you have created. Can we see your CSS page?

  • Add a Property Dropdown menu in CSS panel, not showing all properties?

    Hi,
So, I am sitting side by side at 2 machines...I have the same CSS style I created for a table. On the one machine, I go to add a property and choose border-collapse. All is fine. I go to the other machine and border-collapse is not there? Then, I realized the entire list is much shorter and is missing many properties? The shorten list starts with the background property...The long list on the good machine, starts with alignment-adjust (in other words, I am missing any property that starts with the letter a...plus many more).
I trashed preferences but that didn't help.
Has anyone else come across this problem?
    thanks
    babs

    HI Murray,
Sorry for the late reply...was one of those weeks....
Anyhow...Both DW apps are running CS5? Ironically, U never checked my home machine also running 5, and my CSS panel also starts with background properties. So I am missing a bunch of them as well. It's very odd. The inly thing I can think of, Is I purchased a few CSS templates to work with and I wonder, if when I loaded them on that computer, they added those extra css properties?
    It's a mystery.....

  • Edit CSS using Code View when double-clicking in CSS Panel

In CS4, when I wanted to open a linked style sheet for editing, I could right click or double click any CSS entry in the CSS panel to Go to Code. This would open the style sheet and goes to the line where the rule is defined. It's properly set in the Preference pane to Edit using Code view but hasn't worked ever since upgrading to CS5 and it is a real hinderance on my productivity.
Does anyone else have this problem. More importantly what is the fix?
(I noticed this question had been asked before but was never answered http://forums.adobe.com/message/210015)

OK, I may have found something. It seems to be an issue with template (.dwt) files. Can you reproduce and test this theory?
When I open a template child page, everything seems to work as expected.  It doesn't seem like I can reproduce your symptoms.

  • CSS panel doesent stay open

The window "CSS styles" disapears when I select another part
of the page, e.g another DIV, inside the document window. How do I
make the panel not closing? Its very irritating anf there isent
even a keyboard shortcut to open the css panel. Thanks for any

In CS4, you can right-click on a panel tab and choose

    Could that be the situation?

  • Css layout or style sheet not showing table layout

When I was working on my website I noticed that my tables don't show up in the browser of my site, they do however, show up in the dreamweaver design so I am wondering if when I was making changes somehow to the site if something in the css layout or style sheet got deleted.  Could someone please take a look at it and please tell me what needs to be fixed, I am not at all familiar with css so I need all the help I can get on this here is the link.  Thank you! http://angelcoilbartlett.com/index.html

In your HTML document in Code View, remove the following embedded CSS code. This is competing with external  style sheet code and causing your site havoc.  In the future, don't create any more new styles.  You don't need them.  Stick with the established styles set up by the original designer and you will have way fewer problems.

  • Adjustment panel disappears in

I am new to CS4, upgraded from PSE8.  WinXP Pro.  I am going through "Classroom In A Book" and learning things I really like.  Tonight, I start the program and hit Alt-Ctrl-Shift and reset everything.  I open up Bridge and start on a RAW photo like I have been doing the last few days.  I start with opening Histogram and then go to the Adjustment Panel.  If I open LEVELS, I can use that function only as the Adjustment Panel disappears.  After completing the task and hitting SAVE, there is no Adjustment Panel to be found anywhere.  I have to close CS4 and reboot using the Alt-Ctrl-Shift command and then the Adjustment Panel reappears when I open a photo.  I can not find this problem anywhere on the Adobe site...any ideas or HELP out there???  I appreciate anything!

    Hi Wroger,
Your mistake is in "closing" the levels window.  You are actually closing the adjustments palette.
When you have finished the levels adjustment and want to make another adjustment, just click on the little arrow on the bottom left hand corner of the adjustments panel, and all the other adjustments will be available.
