CSS11503 Management port connection loss

Hi we run 2 x CSS11503 with box-box redundancy. I have configured both management ports with IP's and default gateways. The management ports work fine when the box is in "master mode" but as soon as it goes in to "ackup mode"I loose connection to the management port. It seems to me that when the box is in back up it shuts down it's TCP/IP stack??? Is there anyway to override this on the Management port?
Cheers

the management port should not be down when the CSS is in passive state.
Are you sure the response from the CSS was going out via the management port ?
Where you in the same vlan of the management port ?
If not, did you configure a management route to reach your pc ?

Gilles.

  • 4402 LAN Management Port Connection

I am having fits with the "management" port connection. We have a 4402 controller, with a Mini Copper GBIC. The connection is horrible! All you have to do is bump it, and my WAN drops. Refuses to stay connected.
How do large companies with wireless phones handle this awful connection? Is there a better solution than the mini GBIC?
    Thanks - need help fast!

Yes, It was purchased in a lump sum from our Vendor Cxtec. It plugs in, but is very very loose, and not stable at all. What do companies do about this? Or maybe it is not a Cisco part. Label says it is.

  • SunFire V880 Serial Management Port connection

    Hi,
I just received a 2nd hand unit V880 without a graphic frame buffer.
When I use a hyperterm to connect to it initially, it display "Please Login:" I keyed-in root & an invalid password, it then again displayed the same prompt.
I left the unit for sometime, after I came back to it, I found the hyperterm does not response anymore.
I subsequently tried the following without able to get the same prompt back:
    1. disconnect, re-connect hyperterm
    2. off & on the V880 & re-connect hyperterm
The hyperterm just displayed Connected & there is nothing in the display area. Pressing enter also did not help.
What do I need to do?
    Thanks,
    Raymond

  • Output drops on cisco link connecting to F5 Loadbalancer's management port

    On a connection like below:
Cisco 6509: gi x/y <<-->> F5 BIGIP LTM: mgmt (Management Port)
We observed incrementing packet drops on the F5 BIGIP mgmt interface.
Also, at the cisco end, incrementing output drops were observed.
tcpdump (packet capture) on the F5 BIGIP's mgmt port show brodcast packets/ multicast including the HSRP hellos being received from the cisco device. It is an expected behaviour that, F5 will reject any packets it cant understand (including the cdp, hsrp and other broadcast), and this will cause the packet drop counter of F5 BIGIP's mgmt port to increase. (F5 TAC acknowledged this behaviour)
Will this cause the output drop counter at the cisco interface to roll up?
Note: On the cisco interface, i do not see any other errors, also utilisation on the link is very minimal.
    Thanks
    Sudheer Nair

Hi, this is probably late, but the software counters for output drops on these types of switches (3750's, blade switches) are not reliable.
What you need to check is "show platform port-asic statistics drop" for a reliable drop counter on an interface. This will give you the hardware counters
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCtq86186/?reffering_site=dumpcr
Switch stack shows incorrect values for output drops/discards
    on show interfaces. For e.g.,

  • Windows server 2012 and windows xp remote desktop connection loss

I am having this problem for a month now, and i am stumped with trying to find an answer . I have talked with several network admins in my area and with no luck i have not found a solution. I have a windows server 2012 placed with 5 pcs that are connected
on a local network , those 5 pc's connect to the server via remote desktop. List of pc's:
    1x Windows 7
    4x Windows XP SP3
All have the latests network drivers, all have the latest version of remote desktop installed. All have been scanned for viruses. All have antivirus software.
Problem is the 4 XP machines lose connection on when connected via remote desktop. If one starts losing connection the other 3 start to lose the connection aswell. The windows 7 machine is not affected by this it works fine.
    What have I tried:
    Scanning for viruses.
    Disabling Firewall and antivirus software.
    Updating all drivers.
Did many changes to group policy like keepalives etc.
    Turning off SMBv2 SMBv3.
Turning off network adapter Offload settings.
Changed some registry settings like keepalive, smb etc.
Updating every pc and server with all windows updates.
    Changed the router and switch.
Port forwarded needed ports like 3389.
    Updating remote desktop to 7.0.
I might be forgetting some stuff i will add as i remember anything.
So the thing is this. I use a Windows XP machine from my office I remotely connect to the server via the Internet and I DO NOT experience any connection loss. BUT the XP machines on the local network constantly experience connection loss via remote desktop.
I pinged every Machine from the server via CMD command PING. So when they lose connection the Packets get time outs . Packets get dropped between 1-10 packets when a connection is lost. This packet drop does not occur when using the internet or anything else.
ONLY when connected to the server via remote desktop. The packets get dropped at random intervals.
Problem is I use an XP machine and I am not experiencing any loss of connection , while the XP machines on the local network experience it , but not the windows 7 machine.
Router is ASUS RT-N53 , and switch is Dlink DES-1008D. Server is a Dell PowerEdge T110 II.
Can someone please tell me what can i do to solve this problem?

So today got some word from their office. They were using RDP from 8AM until 12PM all was working fine. Then got back after lunch about 1PM and got a few connection lost errors when they tried using RDP again. Its weird since they didn't have disconnects
in the morning, and started having them after lunch.
Also noticed, that two pc were not using RDP and were disconnected as shown in task manager. And they still got request timeouts.
Maybe this is not a remote desktop issue?

  • Serial management port

Im connectng a dell lattitude D505 running xp and using hyper terminal to connect to a v440 using the serial management port from the serial port on my laptop. If you disconnect the serial management port on the solaris box while its running or if your laptop goes into sleep mode or is powered off, the solaris box will go into OK prompt! Any ideas why this is?

I have a SunBlade 1500 under Solaris 9 and I don't know the Solaris Box. But if it manages the serial ports as Solaris 9 and SunBlade do, I could have one explanation:
All the cases you described match or more accurately are seen by the hadware as a loss of the signal. And hardware and software do not like it at all!!! It seems that your Box hang down at this time. In any time I could give you the advice to disconnect as it must be done the device (here your Laptop) from the Box. And of course when you are connected, suspend the "sleep" of the computer (which is exactly the same thing that it was switched off).
Hope that give you a beginning of explanation!

  • Int vlan up while no port connected on the vlan

    Hello,
Having a cat3750 stack (Layer2-Layer3, release 12.2.25SEB4), I would like to have an interface vlan up for administration reason with no port connected on this vlan?
Do you know a way to get it, wihout using loopback interface, i.e. having a switch port stat up while not beeing connected. (no keepalive nor L3 interface with no keepalive do not help me)
    sh run int fas 3/0/24
    Building configuration...
    Current configuration : 170 bytes
    interface FastEthernet3/0/24
    no switchport
    no ip address
    no logging event link-status
    no keepalive
    no snmp trap link-status
    power inline never
    no mdix auto
    end
    sh run int vlan 1
    Building configuration...
    Current configuration : 96 bytes
    interface Vlan1
    description *** Management ***
    ip address a.b.c.d 255.255.255.248
    end
    sh int vlan 1
Vlan1 is up, line protocol is down
    sh int fast 3/0/24
FastEthernet3/0/24 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)
    Regards,

    Hello Glen,
    Thank you replying so fast.
    Here is some more information:
The switch is used as a router too.
It is reachable by a WAN router connected to this switch on an another vlan (vlan 9). The SVI for the management of this switch is on a dedicated vlan (vlan 1) but this is the only switch of this site.
The management of this switch isn't in the same vlan as the router.
And I wonder if there is a way to have a SVI up just for the management process of this switch, without using a loopback interface.
WAN router is on vlan 9 and I would like to have the switch management IP'address on vlan 1.
Vlan 1 IP network is a subnet of the network routed by the WAN router (managed by an operator).

  • "Configuration Manager cannot connect to the site" after site update from SP1 to R2

Our dev SCCM environment only has a single primary site with a remote SQL database.  Initially, the dev primary site had SP1 Beta (5.00.7782.1000) installed but as everyone is aware there is no upgrade path available to SP1 or R2 from Beta; so, we uninstalled
the site and removed the database, re-installed SP1 non-Beta (5.00.7804.1000), then proceeded to update all devices with the latest client agent.  Afterwards, we attempted to upgrade the site from SP1 non-Beta (5.00.7804.1000) to R2 (5.00.7958.1000).
All seemed well until we attempt to open the Configuration Manager console and we get the following error message:
Configuration Manager cannot connect to the site (Site Name)
The Configuration Manager Administrator console could not connect to the Configuration Manager site database. Verify the version of the console is compatible with the version of the site server you are connecting to and then try to connect again.
So we tried reinstalling the console directly from here...
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\tools\ConsoleSetup\AdminConsole.msi"
still the same error message persisted, so we tried installing it from here...
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\tools\ConsoleSetup\ConsoleSetup.exe"
still the same error message persisted, so then we tried installing it directly from the R2 (5.00.7958.1000) installation media, and afterwards the same error message persisted....
All along, we were checking the AdminConsole log from here:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminConsole\AdminUILog\SmsAdminUI.log"
    Here are the contents:

at Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.AdminConsole.SmsSiteConnectionNode.GetConnectionManagerInstance(String connectionManagerInstance)\r\nNo details are available for this error.\r\n
Once again, we validated we could connect to the SQL database from this box, and that the console was at the same version as the site.  Any help or guidance with getting our access to the console restored after the SP1 to R2 upgrade would be greatly
    appreciated.

From the Primary Site Server, I tried uninstalling the Admin Console and re-installing using:
    consolesetup.exe /q TargetDir="%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Configuration Manager" EnableSQM=0 DefaultSiteServerName=<SiteServerName>
Of course replacing <SiteServerName> with the FQDN of my Primary Site Server.  Console installed successfully however the same error message persists.
Also tried installing the console on a clean Windows Server 2008 R2 installation.  I tried it from the R2 (5.00.7958.1000) installation media, from the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\tools\ConsoleSetup\" both without any luck, the
same error message persists.  I verified I could ping the FQDN of the site server also, and that the firewall between the two permits communication over the ports listed here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427328.aspx
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Nokia Connectivity Manager - no connections listed

Operating System: MS Windows 7 (x64) Home Premium
    Mobile Phone:        Nokia 5230
Connection type:   USB Cable with Nokia PC Suite 7.1.60
Problem with the Nokia Connectivity Manager - no connections are listed and the reinstall error goes away after running repair for the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver.  Have tried the
    PC Suite Cleaner
    CC Cleaner
many PC Suite reinstallations after disabling anti-virus
On some installations, I would get an error "Service cannot be started" but when I cancel and restart the installation it goes straight through - I always end up with a blank window in the Connection Manager.  Looked for some other issues found in older forums addressing older versions, nothing has worked yet.  More help, please.

Please try the steps provided below to assist you in this regard.
    - Go to Add/Remove programs.
    - Uninstall the following.
    1. PC Suite
    2. PC Connectivity solution
    3. Nokia Connecting Cable driver
    Then go to device manager.
    - Ports.
    - Remove all the Nokia related ports from there. There will be one with Nokia E51
Go to C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 7 Remove the complete folder.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Installations Delete all the subfolders under Installations folder.
Run the PC suite cleaner now.
    - Restart computer.
    - Download and install pc suite from the web www.nokia.com/pcsuite
NOTE: Sometimes the problem with the cd installation might occur because the dll files in the cd will not match the ones required for the component to work.
If you still face issues in installation, then go ro run-regedit.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nokia\PCSuite delete the complete PC suite folder.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PCSuite Delete this as well.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nokia\PCSuite Delete this as well.
NOTE: Please ensure that you take a back up of the registry before performing the above steps.

  • Hyper-V Manager remote connection

This is originally posted to the following forum and they suggested I post here.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_perf/hyper-v-manager-remote-connection/708e46c4-8e84-4fd6-8cdd-590d10a008a9
In Windows 10 Technical Preview (Build 10041) I am trying to connect to my remote Hyper-V Server 10 Preview (Build 9841) to manage it. I enabled all the firewall ports (even disabled it at one point) but I can't get the Hyper-V manager to list the VMs on
the server. I am able to make a remote PowerShell connection to manually do some stuff but the interface is much easier obviously.
Anyone have information on what we can check or what we need to do in order to get the new Hyper-V manager talking to a remote server properly? It is actually connected just not listing VMs on that machine. I can modify Virtual Switches just fine, but the
    listing never shows a VM.
There are no 3rd party anti-virus programs installed. So that is not the issue. I wanted to see if someone else had ideas or if this was a known bug.

just a confirm, have you checked if the hyper-v manager works OK in the server machine, I mean not remotely.
Another point, you can check if you have permissions to create new VMs, it might be related to permissions issue I guess, add your user account to Administrator\domain admin\hyper-v administrators...
Other user shows that it could be related to symlinks in the directory

If I remove the ACL under VTY "no access-class ACLVTY in", then SSH to the management port works. If I don't use the management port and use a normal port say G1/0/1 configured on management VLAN and assigned the same IP address, then SSH works with the VTY ACL still existing.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks,
    Rick.

    Hi,
IOS will accept all VTY connections by default. However, if an access-class is used, the assumption is that connections should only arrive from the global VRF. If you need control the IP source while allowing VTY connections from VRF instances, you have a try configuration option "vrf-also"
So, you should get something like this:
    line vty 0 4
    access-class ACLVTY in vrf-also

  • Re-addressing of WAE's management port

    Hi,
I would like to re-address management port of WAE. What is the correct method for doing it? Because the WAE is registered in the central manager WAE. When I re-address management port of WAE, the central manager has problem with the new address. Thank you.

I would probably restore it to factory defaults and then go through the normal configuration process:
    # restore factory-default
This clears the unit and then it will reboot.
When it comes back up, you configure the interfaces:
    (config)# interface GigabitEthernet 1/0
    (config-if)# ip address X.X.X.X X.X.X.X
Duplex is automatically at 1000 full. If something else is required, add the following (as appropriate):
    (config-if)# bandwidth 100
    (config-if)# full-duplex
    (config)# ip default-gateway x.x.x.x
    (config)# ip name-server x.x.x.x
    (config)# ip domain-name myDomain.com
    (config)# host myHost
    (config)# clock timezone US/Eastern -5 0
    (config)# ntp server x.x.x.x
(config)# show clock (verify Timezone settings)
***You still need this next line even if you are using inline cards
    (config)# primary-interface gigabitEthernet 1/0
    (config)# central-manager address x.x.x.x
    (config)# cms enable
If cms registration isn't successful, try burning the config to flash and doing a reload. Then reattempt and it should work. The WAE must be connected to the network and able to communicate with the Central Manager for the “cms” command to work. It fails because it can't generate the certificate. Timeout is 15 seconds and states it was “unable to register.”
Once the cms enable is successfully completed, a reload is a good idea.
    Hope this helps.

  • Management port on CSS 11150

I have a simple question. Can someone tell me how to access the management port on the css 11150?
I configured the ip and mask on the management port and condigured my laptop for a ip on the same network. But i am unable to connect.

what do you mean by connect ?
Are you trying telnet or HTTP ?
Are you able to ping ?
Is the interface showing up ?
Try 10Mb Half duplex set manually and see if it works.
Also, did you reboot the CSS after configuring the ip address/mask for the management interface ?
    Gilles.
