CSSCPserver process in LMS 4.2

Hello,
What is the process CSSCPserver on LMS used for?
I found the info that it allows SWIM to use the LMS server as an SCP server to facilitate tar image upgrades over SCP.
Is it used onlu by SWIM? It is not used for configuration archiving? If I stop this process will I be ale to collect configurations from devices.
This process is listening on TCP port 22. Our  customer would like to install another aplication on LMS server listening on port 22.  The idea would be to stop this process on LMS. Is this smart thing to do? Could this process be stopped forever (not to start again after LMS daemon is restarted).
Thanks,
Marija

Unfortunately LMS doesn't have this option where it can send approval request to only that approvar who is also in the same group of the Job initiator.
Currently all Approvers on the Approver list receive an automatic email notification where the job Approvers approve or reject the job.
You can check this under Job Approval Workflow.
-Thanks

  • How to connect to a Learning Management System (LMS)

Are there any tutorials available on how to connect an LMS with Captivate or a walkthrough someone could offer me?

As Lilybiri states, Captivate is SCORM-compliant, meaning it can publish a SCORM-compliant file. Per the SCORM spec, any SCORM-compliant content must be uploaded to a SCORM-compliant LMS as a .zip file (technically, a '.pif' file, but .zip is the most common).
Now, the actual process your LMS requires to upload a SCORM package completely depends on the LMS, so refer to your LMS documentation/support on how to do that.
Within CP itself, also as Lilybiri pointed out, you need to setup the preferences properly - selecting SCORM (or AICC if that's you and your LMS preference), the version, the various manifest requirements, and the various scoring/reporting options. That in itself is an entire discusion - do refer to the Captivate help on those sections first.

  • LMS 3.0.1 with DEC 2007 update

    Hi,
I have installed LMS 3.0.1 with Dec 2007 update,i have done custom installation and after that i installed 2007 update, after completing installation and update ,when i start LMS the process of LMS are not coming up for very very very long time and all process are down even DCR server is down, attachd are the logs,
    Pls suggests Experts,
    Thanks in Advance

It sounds like you may still have another process failure if processes take a long time to startup. Post the output of the pdshow command from the server.
As for logs, all of them are found under NMSROOT/log on Windows. Some of the logs are named after the processes to which they correspond (e.g. DCRServer.log). However, you shouldn't typically look through logs. Many of them will contain "normal" errors.

  • LMS 4.1 (Windows) & NCS 1.1 (VM) Upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2

    Hi All,
Im getting a bit confused about the whole upgrade migration process for the following config to Cisco Prime Infrastructure:
    LMS - Version 4.1 , 500 devices. Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1
    NCS – version 1.1 , 50 devices  Red Hat Linux ( 64 Bit)  (Installation software - NCS-VA-1.0.1.4-small.ova)
I want to be able to backup databases and migrate licensing from LMS and NCS to one platform. Does anyone have experience of this and could possible guide me thorugh this process. LMS has SAS and NCS has SAU.
Help will be very much appreciated!!

It's a couple of steps but can be done. You may want to reconsider getting off of LMS since the latest Prime Infrastructure (PI 1.2) does not have full feature compatibility with the latest LMS (4.2.3). Have a look here for the comparison.
If you still want to do it:
    1. Upgrade your NCS to PI 1.2 (instructions). If you're going with a total of 550 devices on a combined license you should use the medium ova file to get the correct server resource allocation. You will need to get the new license from the TAC or via the licensing portal. I'm not sure if you can get the PI license for your LMS upgrade directly via the portal but you do have the entitlement for LMS 4.2 and PI 1.2 (combined licenses not to exceed the original LMS number) if your SAS is current. You may need to contact the TAC and ask for the licensing team.
    2. Upgrade your LMS to 4.2 and patch it to 4.2.2 (instructions). Once you've done that, there is a simple menu command to export your device credentials to Prime (Admin, System, Export Data to PI in LMS and then Operation, Device Work Center, Bulk Import in PI - instruction on Page 18 here). Do that and then in the new PI installation import the devices.
Verify everything is working and you can decommission the LMS server.

I did have the impression that some virtual machines running LMS 3.2 actually performed better than real machines, as if the VMware saw it load all these java virtual machines and that it was 45 times the same thing only being used for a few % and therefore could be swapped to disk, leaving the resources to what was actually working in LMS.
What worries me more than the resources used is the gui per.formance.

  • LMS E-Mail Notifications Errors Defination

    Dears,
LMS send email notification to the customer (critical) as i customized
    with error (authentication failure)
is there any sheet to know or identify what each error means ?
as i googled it and didnt find a solution
    Thanks in advance

You can check following document which describes what alerts mean, which are raised by LMS:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.2/user/guide/lms_monitor/Events.html#wp1078033
Also, LMS listens to some specific traps sent from device and process them to send some alerts.
For some SNMP traps, LMS either processes them or treats them as pass-through traps. These traps, and how LMS treats them, are described in these topics:
    Processed SNMP Traps
When LMS receives certain SNMP traps, it analyzes the data found in the following fields of each SNMP trap message, and changes the property value of the object property if required:
•Enterprise (the sysObjectID of the agent or object)
    •Generic Trap Identifier
    •Specific Trap Identifier
    •Variable-Bindings
•IP address of the SNMP agent
    Pass-Through SNMP Unidentified Traps
Pass-through traps are the traps that are generated from devices and are not processed by LMS. The traps appear in the alerts and activities page, if they are generated from the devices that are managed by LMS. LMS cannot process these traps and map them to a topology element such as cards and interfaces. However, LMS can forward the traps irrespective of the device state is either managed or unmanaged. Forwarding these traps is controlled using Monitor > Fault Settings > SNMP Traps > Forwarding.
Pass-through traps are displayed as follows:
•As one of the following events:
    –InformAlarm
    –MinorAlarm
    –MajorAlarm
•With the device type and the device name from which it was generated
    Unidentified Traps
LMS may display an event as an Unidentified Trap. Normally an Unidentified Trap is reported when an event occurs on a device that is being discovered by LMS. To get more information on an Unidentified Trap see the corresponding Events page.
    For more details check :

If you are adding devices manually, there is no need for a seed device. The whole purpose of seed devices is to use it as staging for discovering neighboring devices.

  • LMS - Internal CSU/DSU monitoring question

I have a question about LMS's ability to monitor internal CSU/DSU's.
We're thinking about replacing all of our external CSU/DSU's with internal Cisco CSU/DSU's in all of our routers. I was wondering if any of the LMS versions 3.1, 3.2, or 4.0 have the ability to monitor or trap on circuit errors from that CSU/DSU. I have not worked on a router with a CSU/DSU in it yet, so I'm just unsure of all the logs that may come from it. Does syslog contain logs on circuit errors that LMS will recieve?
We're looking to use the NM1-T3 CSU/DSU module if that helps answer any of these questions. I couldn't find anything on it in the documentation. We're currently running LMS 2.6, but if this requires 3.2 we can move to that.
Thank you guys so much for the help. This forum has always been so great for these types of questions

There are no CSU/DSU specific portions of LMS.  However, as you know, LMS can process syslog messages and perform actions based on patterns in those messages.  I don't know off hand of the specific sysog messages related to this NM.  However, you might try asking about those on the WAN Routing community, or look through the system error messages guide on Cisco.com for your version of IOS.
Another option is you can use the Embedded Event Manager on the device to run CLI commands (i.e. show commands), parse the output, and produce syslog messages that can be processed by LMS.  This way, if there is a specific show command output you want to monitor, you can do that, and still have RME take action.
While LMS 2.6 has all of the syslog hooks you'll need, LMS 3.2 (and 4.0) has the Health and Utilization Monitor feature (called Performance Monitor in LMS 4.0) that will allow you to poll MIB objects on your device and take action based on thresholds being crossed.  If your device and IOS support the CISCO-ICSUDSU-MIB, there are some good error related objects there you could poll using HUM (e.g. the objects in the ciscoICsuDsuT1StatusTable).

  • Problem with user tracking Cisco Prime lms 4.2

    Hi
When I use the User tracking utility, it dont find the usernames, I dont kwow if I have to use the tool UTlite33.exe un all end host or not, please helpme.

    Hi Andres,
    Check this ::
    Understanding UTLite
UTLite is a utility that allows you to collect user names from Primary Domain Controllers, Active Directory, and Novell servers.
To do this you need to install UTLite in the Windows Primary Domain  Controllers and in the Novell servers. You can also install UTLite in an  Active Directory server.
UTLite sends traps to LMS whenever a user logs in or logs out. UTLite  traps are processed by LMS at the rate of 150 traps per second, with a  default buffer size of 76800.
Follow the below link and it should help:

  • Why do 2 diff. undo tablespace required in RAC

    Hi -
1 - I can understand that we do require 2 diff. log files as 2 process can not write on the same redo log files.
But I could not understand the logic of using 2 diff. undo tablespaces, when tablespaces can be in shared mode.
They what is the reason of using 2, why can we not have only one undo tablespace in RAC.
2 - Is there any way to check if one particular instance is running under RAC, Can this be confirmed if instance
has got extra process like Lms Lmd ...
your help would be appreciated and apologies for my poor english.
    Regards,
    Lyxx

Each instance needs its own rollback segments to manage read consistency.
When you set undo_tablespace=UNDOTBS, you tell the instance to self manage the tablespace UNDOTBS and do dynamic creation of rollback segments.
This management of undo tablespaces is not "instance shareable". That's why you need 2 undo tablespace (for a 2 node RAC).
If it's a problem for your environment (don't know why), you can create a single "rollback tablespace" and manage yourself the rollback segments.
