CSV Online But Missing in Disk Management

Bit of a weird one to me...
I have a CSV on a Server 2012 (non-R2) Hyper-V cluster node that is online and accessible at c:\ClusterStorage\CSVolume1 but it does not show up in Disk Management.
Get-ClusterSharedVolume | select -ExpandProperty sharevolumeinfo shows no maintenance mode or redirected access?
how can this be?
thanks,
Dan

Hi,
Run a command Get-ClusterSharedVolume
with elevated PS command window and get the details of CSV disk with respective active node details.
In disk management console CSV volume disk may be showing reserved state in passive node and online in
active node.

  • LENOVO U310, windows 7, SSD drive showing in bios but not in the disk management

    Hi,
    I recently installed windows 7.
But after installing I found out the the computer is not waking from sleep. When I enter the password and press enter the screen becomes blank. I have to again restart the system.
Doing some googling I found out that SSD drive does the caching when iRST is used.
So I tried to look for SSD in the Disk management, But I can see only 1 500 GB HHD. It doesn't show the SSD drive.
Even the Intel Rapid Storage technology is not detecting. It shows internal empty port 0.
But when I checked in the BIOS, in the system information i can see the SSD mentioned.
If any one of you have faced the same problem and/or know some work around then please help.
    Thanks,
    Sumit

Sounds one of the following problems:
1.) The drive is formatted MBR w/ win 8 features enabled / legacy disabled.
2.) A "dynamic" drive is present.

Lion creates a Recovery partition on your harddrive. You will need to boot from startup.

I'm trying to print a poster I created and posted on my website, it was created in power point, saved as pdf, and uploaded using wordpress. It looks good online but is missing data when printed. It contains almost all the information except for about 6 lines, which happen to be important. Any thought are appreciated.

No its weird, everything was the same. I sort of resolved it, since he can view the PDF fine on his comupter but also wanted to print it, I just exported all the slides as JPEGS and made a new InDesign book with those on the pages and exported that as a PDF. Seemed to work for him, I just don't know what happened!

  • Disk Management shows 'unallocated' and 'online' basic disk on a 4 node Windows 2003 Cluster - Is this disk reclaimable?

We've a 4 node Windows 2003 File Share Cluster. I logged onto one of the nodes and found there are a lot of SAN connected disks that show 'Unallocated' in Disk Management as below,
Please could someone advice if these disks are unused? and reclaimable? From what I heard from Adminstrator is that, its the default behavior of Cluster and will be in use by a different node on the same cluster. If so, is there an easier way to identify
which nodes are using these disks? since it appears as though these disks are mapped to server but not being used, many thanks.

    As expected.
Things a bit clearer in current versions of Windows Server, but back in the 2003 days, that was how the shared disk was shown on the nodes that did not own the disk.  If you go to each node in the cluster and look at the same thing in each node, you
will have the same number of disks.  On the node that owns the disk, you will see it represented as you would expect.  On the nodes that do not own the disk, you will see it displayed as you have shown in your screen shot.

  • HT1478 Hi, I want to partition my Ipod Touch so that I can transfer music files to this partition for download to car. Attached Ipod to PC, but coudn't see in Disk Management. Then selected Manually manage Music and Video but still can't see??

I want to transfer music from my Ipod Touch to my car. I found out that I had to partition the Ipod to do this. I attached it to my PC with the USB cable but couldn't see it in the Disk Manager window. Googled why not and saw that I had to select Manually Videos in the Summary section on Itunes. This was already ticked off (selected) and still can;t see the Ipod icon in Disk Manager. What else can I do to partition this Ipod?
    Thanks in anticipation ...

iTunes Match on your computer can give you the same higher quality files.
Run iTunes on your computer.  Show your music library by Song in list view.  Add the columns for Bit Rate, Kind, and iCloud Status to the list view.
Any song that is shown as Matched for iCloud Status, that is NOT already 256 kbps (or higher) for Bit Rate can be downloaded from iCloud at 256 kbps AAC.  For example, if you have an old album from a music CD that you ripped years ago at 128 kbps MP3, and it is "matched" by iTunes Match, you can replace the lower quality files you have now with 256 kbps Match AAC audio file (which is shown for Kind).
To do so, select the song, or a set of songs, on the library list.  Press Delete.  Confirm you want to delete the song (but do NOT check the box to delete song from iCloud) and choose to move song file to the Trash.  The songs remain on your iTunes library list, with a "cloud" download button next to the song name.
Click that button to download the song from iCloud.  Because the song is Matched, you get the replacement as a 256 kbps AAC audio file, instead of the original 128 kbps MP3 file (or whatever lower quality format it was before).
You can go through your iTunes music library, and replace lower quality Matched songs with higher quality versions, thanks to iTunes Match.

  • Why is option to create striped volume grayed out in disk management?

I bought an ASUS UX32VD notebook. In the BIOS the 256 GB SSD is configured to Drive 0 and Drive 1 each 128 GB. I wiped out all the factory partitions on initial clean install to get rid of ASUS bloatware. Bad move it seems. However since Drive    0
= OS(C:) showed 91.6 GB of which only 51.3 were free and Drive  1 = DATA (D:) 116 GB with 112 GB free I figured a clean install would give me a portion of the missing 55 GB back.  So my question is when I get to the section in the install process
how do I partition drives so Win 8.1 will recognize the RAID. RAID is set in the BIOS as well. On this my 5th or 6th attempt I created 2 equal partitions. After windows created it's 300 MB and 100MB partitons Disk Management shows Disk 0 (C:) 119 MB  and
Disk 1 (D:) 119 MB. Still no RAID
I don't know that it is connected to the problem in Device Manager it shows Unknown Device     PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller. After going into Hardware Ids and finding the ID a search finally got me to Intel and a driver
Download. Installed the D/L and still not working.
Any help or suggestions appreciated. Thanks Dan.

Thanks for the replies guys. From your post it appears my initial post is confusing. The 256 GB SSD is configured from the factory in the BIOS as (2) 128 GB Drives - 0 & 1. I don't know that I can change that nor want to. The sizes in Windows - This
    PC - from the factory were;
    OS (C:) 91.6 GB
    DATA (D:) 116 GB
    This indicated to me ASUS had some hidden partitions on C: I wanted to clean of bloatware and just run Windows and the programs I installed. After formating this last install the Drives show;
    Local Disk (C:) 118 GB
    Local Disk (D:) 119 GB
I appreciate losing some of disk space to indexing so I'm fine with the size now.
    In Disk Management it shows
Disk 0 Basic 119.12 GB Online
    300 MB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
100 MB Healthy (EFI System  Partition)
(C:) 118.73 GB NTFS Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump Primary Partition
Disk 1 Basic 119.12 GB Online
(D:) 119.12 GB NTFS Healthy (Primary Partition)
So where did I go wrong on the Create Partitions page of the install? Next install elimiate all partitions again, fomat both drives and then force Windows to recreate the 300 MB and 100 MB partitions? As it stands now Drive (D:) shows 1 GB used but when
I open it - Show Hidden files - it says it is empty. Is RAID 0 being used?
Again appreciate your efforts and time.
    Regards, Dan

  • TS1493 When I go to change the drive letter, I go through the entire process and when I click on disk management, my ipod is not listed. On my computer it is still listed as a digital camera

I have searched online and tried all the possibilities to fix the issues I am having but have sadly been unsuccessful. My ipod is being read as a digital camera, it is not reading on my itunes therefore I cannot sync any music or apps I have purchased. The only solution I couldn't try was to change my drive letter. Main reason being, my device did not show up under the disk management page.

If you have pictures (on your iPod) in the Camera Roll, that may be why the iPod is showing up as a camera. The Camera Roll is where pictures taken on the iPod, screenshots taken on the iPod and pictures saved from Safari are stored.
Copy the pictures from the Camera Roll and put them onto yuor computer. Once you have done that, you can delete the pictures from the Camera Roll and perhaps the iPod will stop showing up as a camera.
The iPod Touch does not have an accessible hard drive, so it will not show up under disk management.

  • Disk management

    hi
my pc has a 500 Gb hard disk ,but i have a missing of 50Gb hard disk space
may i have suggestions for getting back the missing hard disk space

    Hi,
What’s the result in disk management about Disk 0 (I assume you just have one disk in your PC )?
The possible reason is just like Mark said, the actual size of physical disk is not equal to the labeled size.

  • Patch cluster 3/26/10 will hose X4500 disk management task in multiuser

I just want to warn user about the potential problem that you will encounter if you have a SUN X4500 system.
After applying patch cluster 3/26/10 on a SUN X4500 (thumper), now I can not do many disk management tasks in multiuser mode, such as
    format
    zpool create
and possibly many more commands (involving disk devices) would just hang.
Drop it to single user mode, however, you CAN still do these management task. I had to create zpool in single user mode
zfs create pool/zfsset still works in multiuser mode.
    Thank you for your attention.

I'm having exactly the same problem on an x4500 server running OpenSolaris snv_127. We suffered a disk failure (c7t0d0), so I resilvered one of the pools onto a spare drive, which succeeded:
    # zpool history data
    <snip>
    2010-04-20.14:45:08 zpool offline data c7t0d0
    2010-04-20.14:58:19 zpool replace -f data c7t0d0 c7t1d0
    # zpool status data
    pool: data
    state: ONLINE
scrub: resilver completed after 43h58m with 0 errors on Thu Apr 22 10:56:50 2010

    c12t2d0 ONLINE 0 0 0
    c8t0d0 ONLINE 0 0 0
    c7t1d0 ONLINE 0 0 0 381G resilvered
As you can see, the drive c7t0d0 has been successfully replaced and no longer appears in any zpool:
    # zpool status | grep c7t0d0
    # iostat -En | grep c7t0d0
c7t0d0 Soft Errors: 2 Hard Errors: 4 Transport Errors: 0
    # cfgadm -l | grep c7t0d0
    sata1/0::dsk/c7t0d0 disk connected configured ok
However when I attempt to unconfigure the sata port in preperation for replacing the drive, it doesn't work:
    # cfgadm -c unconfigure sata1/0
    Unconfigure the device at: /devices/pci@0,0/pci1022,7458@1/pci11ab,11ab@1:0
This operation will suspend activity on the SATA device
    Continue (yes/no)? yes
cfgadm: Hardware specific failure: Failed to unconfig device at ap_id: /devices/pci@0,0/pci1022,7458@1/pci11ab,11ab@1:0
Also just pulling out the drive doesn't work, you end up with an unusable unconfigured port:
    # cfgadm -l | grep unusable
    sata6/0 disk connected unconfigured unusable
It's highly frustrating, because it means to replace disks we'll have to shut this server down. Not ideal!
I'm fairly certain this used to work fine.
If anyone has a solution, I'm all ears. I'm going to update this box to snv_130 soon (mainly to get the new zfs resilvering code) but I'm not hopeful about this bug/issue.

  • Startup of Clusterware with missing voting disk

    Hello,
in our environment we have a 2 node cluster.
The 2 nodes and 2 SAN storages are in different rooms.
Voting files for Clusterware are in ASM.
Additionally we have a third voting disk on a NFS server (configured like in this descripton: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/clusterware/overview/grid-infra-thirdvoteonnfs-131158.pdf&ei=lzJXUPvJMsn-4QTJ8YDoDg&usg=AFQjCNGxaRWhwfTehOml-KgGGeRkl4yOGw)
The Quorum flag is on the disk that is on NFS.
The diskgroup is with normal redundancy.
Clusterware keeps running when one of the VDs gets lost (e.g. storage failure).
    So far so good.
But when I have to restart Clusterware (e.g. reboot of a node) while the VD is still missing, then clusterware does not come up.
Did not find an indication if this whether is planned behaviour of Clusterware or maybe because I missed a detail.
From my point of view it should work to start Clusterware as long as the majority of VDs are available.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
actually what you see is expected (especially in a stretched cluster environment, with 2 failgroups and 1 quorum failgroup).
It has to do with how ASM handles a disk failure and is doing the mirriong (and the strange "issue" that you need a third failgroup for the votedisks).
So before looking at this special case, lets look at how ASM normally treats a diskgroup:
A diskgroup can only be mounted in normal mode, if all disks of the diskgroup are online. If a disks is missing ASM will not allow you to "normally" mount the diskgroup, before the error situation is solved. If a disks is lost, which contents can be mirrored to other disks, then ASM will be able to restore full redundancy and will allow you to mount the diskgroup. If this is not the case ASM expects the user to tell what it should do => The administrator can issue a "alter diskgroup mount force" to tell ASM even though it cannot held up the required redundancy it should mount with disks missing. This then will allow the administrator to correct the error (or replaced failed disks/failgroups). While ASM had the diskgroup mounted the loss of a failgroup will not result in a dismount of the diskgroup.
The same holds true with the diskgroup containing the voting disks. So what you see (will continue to run, but cannot restart) is pretty much the same like for a normal diskgroup: If a disk is lost, and the contents does not get relocated (like if the quorum failgroup fails it will not allow you to relocatore, since there are no more failgroups to relocate the third vote to), it will continue to run, but it will not be able to automatically remount the diskgroup in normal mode if a disk fails.
To bring the cluster back online, manual intervention is required: Start the cluster in exclusive mode:
crsctl start crs -exclThen connect to ASM and do a
alter disgkroup <dgname> mount forceThen resolve the error (like adding another disk to another failgroup, that the data can be remirrored and the disk can be dropped.
After that a normal startup will be possible again.
    Regards
    Sebastian

  • Win2012r2/08r2 Disk Management 0MB Disk

    Hello everyone,
we are using a 2008r2 SQL Cluster and a 2012r2 File Cluster, on both we have the same issue.
There are 0MB Disk to find under the Diskmanagement
I dont know were the came from, because under DISKPART oder Get-disk you dont see them.
Is this just a display bug? Or does anyone now a reson for this.
    Take care
    Daniel

    Hello Si1v3re1f,
The only I can think of is that because this disks are managed by/through the failover cluster it prevents to show that info in a local tool.
I also validated this on my nodes:
    DISKPART> list disk
Disk ###  Status         Size     Free     Dyn  Gpt
      Disk 0    Online           60 GB      0 B
      Disk 1    Reserved       57 GB      0 B
      Disk 2    Reserved    2048 MB     0 B
But even the "local disk" of the nodes that is not an active part on the cluster (as a resource) is also been affected by this behavior.
Doing further research I came upon this link:
    Diskpart Disk Free Column
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/151f49d4-4739-464f-bd05-0d25ecb270a0/diskpart-disk-free-column?forum=winserverfiles
Doing some tests I can see that this is because we are seeing the Disk space which is fully used by the volume(s) configured within in this case the "free" space is related to as we can see on Disk Management as "Unallocated space"
But we can see that the actual space or free space on the volumes is different if you execute from diskpart "list volume"
We can see a difference on the size of the Volume and Disk.
In the Volume 3 I have around 58 Gb of free space.
    This something very interesting. :D
