CTC after a minor delay

I'm all done with one week before the closing date (well, with a holiday there). The only delay (3 days) was underwriter asking for empl verification with my current and future employer via some 3rd party platform, both requests got denied - who knows where they sent those too - I work for big organization. Underwriter asked me this morning to provide my own HR contacts and issued CLC in 30 minutes after. Very smooth saling with NFCU.  Now I can relax  Thank you all on this forum for posting and keeping me informed throught the process!

Congratuations!

  • Print dialog box comes up after 30 sec delay-why?

    Hi,
I am in Ai CS4. The first file I open, when I go to print it takes just over 30 secs for the print dialog box to come up. The next time I print, no problem, pops up right away. All subsequent file print dialog boxes come up immediately. Quit Illustrator and it starts all over again. Rebuilt permissions, then rebuilt from startup disk, trashed preferences. Tried changing default printer. Nothing seems to solve this. Mac Quad-Core Intel Xeon, OSX 10.6.3
    Any ideas out there?
    Thanks

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Appreciate your assistance!

I know you are on a Mac, but on windows a similar problem and even a crash can
occur when your default printer spooling service is set to manual instead of
    auto.
Either set your default printer to a virtual printer like "Adobe PDF" or go
into the printer settings and set spooling to automatic.

  • HT2506 every time i open an image or PDF file using preview the mac take a long time to load and opens every single file the usually opens with PDF at the same time after a noticeable delay i would like to know why and i would like to know how i can avoid

every time i try to oppen a file like an image or a PDF it oppens by default using oreview built in appliction
occasionally this is accompanied by a long delay after wich the preview oppens every file in the downloads  folder and i can navigate through them with ease
i would like to know why the application has this elay i really want to avoid it
because every tome i want to oppen an image there is a risk it would take a minnute or two

In the finder right click on the iPhoto library and show package contents, find the folder named import (or importing) and drag it to the desk top. Do NOT make any other changes of any sort. Launch iPhoto and you will Be fine. Open the import(ing) folder and if there are any photos in it you need import them to iPhoto then trash the imoort(ing) folder.

  • Bottom regions of piano keys play after a short delay when pressed

After I updated to iOS 7, when I play the piano, the lower most region of the piano keys don't play immediately. There is a short delay before the note is played. Moreover, the  'key press' animation is not visible although the note plays after some delay. This is a little annoying because while playing, the fingers can be at any region and the bottom part of the keys do not play properly. Also, GarageBand has become a little unresponsive, especially the pianos. This did not happen before the iOS update.

I think I have the same issues there.  tried all the options from 3 finger up to controllcenter but no change the problem.

  • Don't see changes in Live View until after 30 second delay

Running Dreamweaver CS5.5 on Mac OS X 10.7.5
    Running Locally using MAMP
Site is configured to run on a local PHP/MySQL server, and consists of a single index.php file with nothing more than an html header (I don't even have any PHP in there yet).
When I use Dreamweaver to make a change in my index.php file (such as changing the text in the header), I save it, and then go to Live View or Web Browser Preview. In both cases, it takes over 30 seconds before I see my changes in Live View or Browser Preview.
To get a better idea of my workflow:
         1) My indiex.php file header reads "This is a test"... and it's correct in both Live View and Browser Preview.
         2) I change the header to be "Hello World".
         3) Select "Save" from the File menu.
         4) Click the "Live View" button.
         5) Live view still reads "This is a test"
         6) Open Browser Preview, also still reads "This is a test"
         7) I spam the refresh button in both Live View and Web Preview, no change, still reads "This is a test".
         8) After about 30 seconds of hitting the refresh button, the change finally is visible in Live View and Web Preview, reading "Hello World".
Anyone seen anything similar? Any ideas why I'm getting such a long delay before seeing my changes? Any suggestions to fix it (besides restarting my mac?

    Thanks for the input!
Restarting the computer was the obvious first thing to try, but had no effect.
I have over 2GB free memory and still experiencing the issue.
It does take a few seconds to load the Live View for the first time, but that's not my problem. My problem is that with Live View already loaded, it takes over 30 seconds after saving changes to the php file before I can see the changes in the Live View (I'm clicking the refresh button once a second, and on the thirty something time I'll finally see my changes).
With "Preview Using Temporary Files" turned off, I get the behavior I've been describing.
Turning "Preview Using Temporary Files" on does actually mitigate the issue for me, though, so thank you for that suggestion!
         - I can see changes in my Live View instantly after saving and clicking the refresh button.
         - I can see changes using Preview in Browser instantly too... but the browsers refresh button has no effect (which makes sense since the temporary file it's looking at hasn't changed).
         - I can actually get some work done now.
However, I still feel that I should be able see my changes in Live View immediately after saving and clicking the refresh button without using "Preview Using Temporary Files", and I'd like to be able to leave the page open in my browser and just click the browser's refresh button to see my recently saved changes instantly.
    So Long Story Short:
Using "Preview Using Temporary Files" has definitely helped!
But I still have no way to see my changes immediately without using temporary files, so something still seems fishy.

  • Messed up font rendering in Acrobat 8 after pdf minor edit

I was given a pdf to make a minor spelling edit which involved opening the InDesign original, correcting the placed(as a graphic)pdf page (using advanced editing/text touch up tool).
This always worked fine in Acrobat 7.
I then updated in the Indd file and output to a new pdf document.
Only now the pdf text component had substituted characters which garbled it.
I went back into >advanced/preflight/options/browse internal structure of doc fonts.< and found the font causing problems and made sure it was loaded on the system- but didn't help. My sense is this is a font conflict problem. In the end I rebuilt the file in Illustator, then saved a new pdf which solved the problem. Could I have resolved this directly from Acrobat/
    Thanks for any insights.

Editing of pdf files is a crap shoot. Sometimes it works many times it
doesn't. It is not the preferred workflow.

  • Safari freezing when opening certain webpages or opening after a long delay

I was not able to open certain Safari pages on my Mac Pro Workstation after updating to Snow Leopard and iTunes 9. I decided to see if I could open pages via Firefox and found the issue extended to Firefox as well. I tried my Mac Book which had also been upgraded to Snow Leopard and iTunes 9. Pages opened immediately in Safari and Firefox. I checked the System Profiles of the two machines to see what I had done differently on them. Turns out I had also installed the recently released HP Printer update on the Workstation and not installed the update on the Mac Book.
I ran the HP un-install utility on the Workstation. Made sure I deleted the un-installed files from the trash and rebooted the machine so that any remaining links in the Registry would be removed. Launched Safari and it works flawlessly. Firefox works perfectly as well.
I have no definitive way of determining if the HP update was the culprit unless I were to re-install and the issue were to return. I of course won't be re-installing the update until I can do a little more research.
Take this for what it is worth but the only difference I could find was the HP software update and the issue resolved itself once I removed it and rebooted.

This is not an actual Safari crash report ....
You need to check something. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > About Safari
It it's version 5.1.6 or 5.1.7, updating to Safari 6 may help. Apple has not posted a Safari 6 standalone installer but there is a workaround.
Click here >  Safari Quits Every Time Opened: Apple Support Communities
Then click the link posted by:  gregoryfromcork
That will automatically download this file >  Safari6Lion.pkg.download
    Now quit Safari.
Go to your Downloads folder and double click that file and follow the instructions for installing.
Then restart your Mac, try Safari.

  • Wasteful re-rendering after making minor chages

Why does iDVD waste so much time re-rending a DVD when there is only a minor change made?
For example, I have a iDVD 6 project containing two movies. If I change the music on the title menu, iDVD will render that again, but also spend hours rerending the two movies. Is there a way to avoid this?
I always Save as Disk Image, and, of course, "Best Quality."
    And, does 6 hours+ to render a 2-hour DVD on a 2 GHz G5 sound about right?
    Jeff

To continue this thread: iDVD6 rerenders the menus even when I have not made any changes to the project, every time, all the time.
    For example,
    Save as disc image ...
Renders what it needs to, always including menus etc. Finishes successfully, if I then:
    Burn DVD ...
    It renders the menus again.
This makes burning multiple dual layer discs in iDVD6 rather slow and time consuming.
I believe it is still true that one should burn DL discs in iDVD rather than Disk Utility to ensure a working layer change-over point.
Do other people see this? If not, what can I do to prevent it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ashley.

    Greetings,
Can anybody tell me if they have configured the Thermalright XP-120 heatsink with an MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum Mainboard. I intend on fitting the AMD Athlon 64 3500+ CPU. I need to clarify if the heatsink/fan will impact on populating the DIMM slots, or any other aspect of configuration.

The hype was these boards would be available at the begining of December, and that, after some minor delays/setbacks.  I've been playing with parts ment for the NV4 based systems since the begining of December.   MSI used to send me test boards direct from Taiwan to debug and stress--hell, I couldn't even get them to answer emails let alone send a test board.

  • Long Unresponsive Delay with Spinning Color Wheel After Compressor Launches

    I'm running FCS3 with Compressor 3.5.
After I launch Compressor, there is a 1-2 minute delay before it will respond to my mouse clicks. The Choose a template window will finally appear after the long delay and then Compressor is responsive to user input.
The reason why this is happening is because I have six (6), yes 6, external optical DVD and Blu-ray burner drives connected to my Mac Pro through a combination of FireWire and USB. When I turn them all off, the delay and unresponsiveness in Compressor is significantly shorter (about 6 seconds). Compressor tries to scan for all your optical drives upon program startup, and this can take a long time if you have many optical drives connected. This issue does not exist in Compressor 3.
This is just a tip for anyone else out there who may have several optical drives connected to your Mac. If you only have one or two optical drives, then you may only see a 6 second delay with the spinning color wheel after Compressor starts up, which is bearable.

Again, this is just a tip. If you want to avoid long delays after starting up Compressor, then disconnect or turn off any external optical burning drives you may have connected.

  • Long delay after switching application

I have a project which has about 1000 clips.  Every time I switch to another application and then back to Premiere, it takes a very long time before Premiere can respond to any action.  Initially, I thought it's b/c memory.  So I added more RAM and see about 50% of RAM free.  However, this does not help.
One day I deleted a clip in Explorer and switching back to Premiere.  After the long delay, it pops up a dialog asking me where is the clip.
So could the long delay is from scanning for clip changes?  If so, is there any way to disable it?
    thanks!

    Do you mean:
    1. The delay is unrelated to the scanning of clips
    or
    2. It's not possible to stop the scanning?
The project file is only 40MB.  I've had 100MB or even larger project file before and never see such long delay.  Could you please give me some pointer on how to reduce this delay (right now about 30 seconds)?
    Thanks!

  • [Solved] RAID 5 degraded after 3.13 upgrade

    Hi there,
after upgrading my home server to the latest kernel 3.13 I've found out, that my RAID 5 got degraded. One of the drives has been kicked out, but I don't know why. The drive seems okay, I've also done a SMART short test, completed without any errors. The only suspicious looking error message, when upgrading to Linux 3.13 was:

If Selective self-test is pending on power-up, resume after 0 minute delay.
    This is my mdadm configuration:
    [tolga@Ragnarok ~]$ cat /etc/mdadm.conf
    ARRAY /dev/md/Asura metadata=1.2 UUID=34bab60a:4d640b50:6228c429:0679bb34 name=Ragnarok:Asura
I've checked all partition tables, everything seems ok. "Error 30[x] occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 1706 hours (71 days + 2 hours)" seems to be a one-time event, which happened on 1706 hours (I don't know why; no power loss or something similar). Other than those smartctl errors, everything seems fine. I've also inspected the drive; no suspicious noises or anything else, works like the other 3 drives. Am I safe to simply re-add the drive using "sudo mdadm --manage --re-add /dev/md127 /dev/sdd1" and let it re-sync or should I flag it as failed and then re-add it to the RAID?
I am using 4x 2TB Western Digital Red drives in a RAID 5, which are about 1 year old and they ran perfectly fine until now. The server is currently shut down until this problem is fixed. I currently got a partial backup of my data (most important ones) and will make a full backup, before attempting a repair. At the moment, I'm still able to access all my data, so nothing's wrong there.
So, what do you guys think, what should I do?

Thank you brian for the fast reply. I've backed up all my important data and tried the command. It's not working ...

So, I guess my only way to fix this is remove the faulty drive from the RAID, zero out the superblock and then re-add it as a new drive. Or is there any other way to fix this?
//Edit: I've used "mdadm --detail /dev/md127" and found out, that the faulty drive wasn't even listed anymore. So instead of using "re-add", I simply added it as a new drive and it's resyncing now. In about 220mins, I'll know more ! Is there a way to check for corruption after syncing the drives?
//Edit: ^ this worked. My drive probably didn't got kicked after the 3.13 upgrade, but I've simply noticed it then. The drive seems to be kicked after ~1700 hours for some unknown reason - I've now disconnected and reconnected all drives to opt out any wiring issues. Since the drive was out of sync, simply re-adding it didn't work. I had to manually add it to the array again and this caused a resync, which took around 3,5 hours. I think that's okay for a 4x 2TB RAID 5 array. Everything is working fine again, no data corruption, nothing. I'll mark it as solved.

  • Click Firefox shortcut - 4 secs delay WITH white screen, then firefox loads, also every new tab flashes a white blank page fOR half a sec.

Firefox 31, Windows 8.1, AVG, Spybot, dusabked addins ni change, used several suggestions on internet, nothing works. changed proxy settings to manual 127.0.0.1 and port as suggested - no change, could I have an NSA reroute of firefox?

Before doing anything I started Tor Browser Bundle, then exited. Started up Firefox – no 4 secs delay, very minor delay but no white page at all it seemed. Then clicked on the Open New Tab (x) and saw a white flash then the new tab – again a .5 sec delay or less before the new tab appeared.
Shutdown computer. Restarted and clicked on Fireforx shortcut. No blank white page anymore and no delay except for a very minor one.
But still had the white page flash when loading a new tab from the small x on the current page tab. Saw a white flash, then the new tab loaded. Shut down computer, restarted same problem with the new tab click on the small x - .5 sec or less white flash then tab loads.
Went into Firefox Add-Ons and disabled a number of items. Surprise no white flash on loading new tab. Decided to enable AVG PrivacyFix 5.0.11 – miracle, no white flash at all on clicking the small x on the current tab. loaded veryfast no delay there.
Will alert AVG of this issue. But still very surprised that the original main issue of having a 4 secs delay with a completly whtie screen with nothing on it except white disappeared after launching Tor Web Browser throws me for a loop.
Have not tried BlueHell yet and wonder why I should now in addition to the fact that AVG is certainly far superior to it. But if Bluehell does a better job than AdBlocker, willing to try it.
Problem appears solved – Why did Tor fix main issue?

  • Hard drive wakes up immediately after being put into standby

I have an IDE disk which, till now, I used to keep in standby mode (it makes an audible humming noise when it's working which annoys me a lot :<). Today I noticed that after running `hdparm -y' on it, it would spin down but then it would immediately spin up again. I'm certain that the disk isn't being used and doesn't have any partitions mounted anywhere on the filesystem. Still, I'm unable to pinpoint the reason it's waking up.
Any ideas on why this is happening?
Edit: It appears that the disk gets into standby by itself after 10 minutes. I wish I knew where this value is coming from. O.o
Edit2: Those 10 minutes must be coming from `hdparm -S1 /dev/sdb'; maybe the hard drive has a lower limit in regard to this setting. :3

Here is what i get when i try that command.:
    $ sudo hdparm -B 254 /dev/sdc
    /dev/sdc:
setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)
    HDIO_DRIVE_CMD failed: Input/output error
    APM_level = not supported
I tried other values also and its always the same error.
I just did another try with -y and the drive stayed in standby during ±40 minutes this time. The most annoying part is that is something that was not happening before I am pretty sure that it would stay in standby for days.
I also included my results for hdparm -I.:

  • How can I reset my outlook.mail account on ipad after loosing password

I can access my outlook mail on our macbook pro but cannot access it on my ipad using the same password. What do I do? We have not been able to use the reset password or the old password and no security codes we have been sent work either.

Let's try deleting the iCloud account from your iPad, then adding it back.
If you have any photo stream photos on your iPad, save them to your camera roll by opening your My Photo Stream alburm, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  The force close the Mail app by double-tapping the home button, locating Mail in the list at the bottom, tap and hold Mail until it wiggles, tap to close it, then tap the home button agian.
Then to delete the iCloud account go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, choose Delete from My iPad when prompted.  This only deletes the account and your iPad data from your iPad, not from iCloud.  Then go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in and turn on your sync settings, confirming that Mail is set to On.  Your iCloud data will reappear on your iPad after a brief delay as it redownloads.  Open Mail and see if your iCloud account is there now.
