CTI jumps

Anyone out there having a problem with the cti jumping ahead about 12 or so frames after you hit play? It's not a major issue but a little annoying.

Haven't run into that one yet. I've tested DV and HDV footage. All my tests are on interlaced footage. Are you doing DV, HDV? Other video type such as from a full professional grade camera? Often, it helps a lot to know the brand and model number of the video camera from which your video came from. Then of course, people do ask for various computer/OS specs, but knowing the camera type is the first priority.
Also, do you have any effects on the clip, where the render indication on the top part of the timeline is yellow or red?
I think by CTI, you must mean the Current Time Indicator. Some folks may not catch that acronym immediately.

CTI jumps frames during RAM Preview

I find myself having to build a graphic opener with music for the first time in AE. Needing to time elements to the music, I've discovered something that probably has been happening since I've owned AE, but I've never paid attention to til now. When previewing, my CTI moves forward by jumping several frames at a time, instead of playing smoothly. This makes timing to the music beat all but impossible, at least for me. Is this a normal thing for AE?

Yes, OpenGL is enabled, as well as hardware acceleration. Here are my system specs...

I should mention that I have Nucleo Pro 3 running, but this happens as well with previews being handled by NP3, and with it disabled. The current driver from nVIDIA is 270.61. I guess I can try it out, but I don't like getting too far ahead of what Adobe has cleared.

CTI jumps around on play/pause

Not seeing any recent posts on this issue, so I'm wondering if it's just me or if it truly is a bug with CS6.0.0/1...
When going through a timeline I'll often pause the playback (using the spacebar), use the mouse to scrub the CTI forwards or backwards to review a section, and then begin playback again (using the spacebar). Far more often than not, when I hit the spacebar to begin playing again the playback picks up from where it left off when I paused it, not from the new CTI location. I generally have to let the system sit idle for 10-15 seconds after manually adjusting the CTI in order for it to play from the new location. This is not only time consuming, it's very frustrating to have happen when the client is looking over my shoulder and wants to review the same segment several times in a row.
Is this happening for others and/or is it a known bug in CS6 already?

the problems I am having is the same as yours but also with cuda. If the cuda is enabled then the picture on the BM out put to TV is poor quality (also to 2nd monitor) I think it is a driver of certain hardware that is giving the problem. My main machine is a I7 980X OC to 4.1 and 24 gig ram running at 1600, GTX 480 raid system Intel RBL080 raid 0 +-650mb/s R&W and a Blackmagic Ultra Studio Pro USB 3. The Laptop is a Lenovo I7 1.7 with 16 gig ram and two 500 gig HDD and a FX2800m quadro card and this is a little more responsive than my big machine so I wonder.

CTI in P-Pro jumps backwards while playing every few seconds

During playback in the preview window as well as in the timeline, the CTI jumps back a few frames, and continues to play from there. It is H.264 in a .mov container, and I've played this footage before. I played it in VLC to make sure the footage was ok, and no prob. Help!

Trash your Preferences and plugin cache (reboot while holding down shift + alt)
You may also want to trash the Media cache database.

Navigate timeline with timecode question

Hello all...
I'm an Avid user looking at Premiere for certain projects. Last night as I was watching a tutorial the tutorialist selected the timeline panel (clicked inside of it) and then entered a timecode, which automatically selected the timecode display in that panel, he then hit enter and the CTI jumped to the time code.
He said that it was not necessary to select the timecode display. He also did this several times. He was using CS5...I have CS5.5.
It does not work for me. It would be very good if it did. I like to use the mouse as little as possible.
Does anyone have any further information on this feature? Does it actually work? Was it only CS5?

Are you saying that you highlight the timecode or just the timeline panel? Sounds to me like you're saying the tc itself. Because if I click on the tc itself, I can type timecode in there as well. What I'm talking about is:
Say you're working in the timeline panel (therefore it is selected - just the panel), and you just start typing numbers (ie, timecode that you'd like to jump to)...does that do it for you? In this tutorial, he said that it wasn't necessary to highlight the tc istelf. Just as long as the panel is selected. And he did it several times. Though it may have been through the magic of editing. It's a Lynda.com video titled "0203 Understanding timecode"...at 2:13 of the video he does it for the first time...for anyone who might have that tutorial series.

Remove all gaps

Is there a way to 'remove all gaps' between footage items in a timeline?
Does Premier have scripts like AE?
Why not?
Someone could then write a script that removes all gaps in a timeline.

I've done a 'product request' with Adobe before and I'm not a fan of the system.
A user submits a request and then what???
Is there a way to see the list of request so users can add votes, comments, or discussions?
There was no feedback at all when I posted to the request page.
Can't say I'm surprised by this response as I've long thought that the Premier team liked to ignore the users.
It's only since CS 5 that I've had any sort of impression that the Premier team cares about selling product at all!
Lets be honest, Premier 'braked' pretty hard when the guys left to build Final Cut.
I'd rather post in a public forum to see what sort of feedback one gets from the community.
I guess I've been spoilt by the Red camera forums where users are encouraged to feedback to the company and each other.
I'm an AE user and I'm used to a much more energetic development.
What is it with the basic wipes???? There is no soften edge or motion blur. Do I have to use the plugins 'that look like they were ripped straight out of AE' that require me to place the clip in the layers above???
Why does Premier take five times longer to preview a clip from a series of TIFFs then AE?
When I jump to a Sub Comp in AE the CTI jumps to the same relative frame in the subclip. Why doesn't Premier do the same?
I wish the blasted 'generate preview timeline' hot key was the same as AE (0 on the keypad)!
I get that the team doesn't want to spend time building in each and every little feature request, so bolt in a Python scripting engine.
Look FCP isn't FCP any more so go and rip off all the features that were added to it instead of Premier, and steal features from AE (especally their work metadology)

Encore CS6 chapter point location error

In Encore CS6, if I put a time into the source or timeline box (or in the preview window time box), for example 00:01:17:13 and press ENTER, the CTI will jump to a random place on the timeline and not the time I put in. Is this a bug?

Too bad they didn't fix this in the Encore 6.01 update even though it was reported. It's a pretty serious bug. (I tested it).
I found a stranger aspect in this bug when testing it again after the update:
I have say, a timeline that's an hour and 13 minutes long. I have 9 chapters that I need to apply. The chapters are in a text file. (Too bad that Encore doesn't support importing text chapter files) Here's what happens:
I start by copy\paste the first time say, 00:02:13:00, from text file into a timecode field and press ENTER. (There are 2 of them you can use - on timeline and on viewer window). CTI jumps fine.
I continue with other times. At first, all seemed OK and I thought this bug was fixed! I got all chapters correctly! So I deleted some of them and tried again, but that's when the strange thing happened:
Encore would disregaurd the current timecode I'm inserting and instead, jump to ONE OF THE TIMECODE POINTS OF CHAPTERS I HAD PREVIOUSLY DELETED! (Like it had it in memory or something) I tried also to continuously pasting the SAME timecode following with ENTER and each time Encore would SYSTEMATICALLY jump the CTI to a different timecode that had a chapter there before I deleted it!
So if I copied a timecode and started pasting that one again and again, following an ENTER each time, every time the CTI would jump to one of the previously deleted points.
I hope they fix this soon as I can't use Encore becuase of this.

CTI Doesn't Move with Arrow Keys PE12

I am running into a glitch in Premiere Elements 12. When I nudge the CTI (playhead) using the arrow keys it moves only 1 frame no matter how many times I press the over arrow. The audio continues to scrub and the time indicator continues to change for each frame, but the CTI itself is stuck and no longer represents the proper location.
Anyone solved this?
I am using a MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.5.

My hw. sw. setup
MACBook Pro, OS X 10.9.4, 16Gb, licensed Premiere Elements 12.1 upgraded from 12.0
Just to confirm....are you saying that if you do just a one tap on the right or left arrow key, the Timeline Indicator will move 1 frame.              YES (if slow repeat).
But, if you hold down and continue to hold down on the right of the right or left arrow key, the Timeline Indicator will not go into a continuing movement?     YES.
>> Today I have found that this problem only show up in ”Expert” edit mode and not in ”Quick” mode.
      1. Current Timeline Indicator (CTI) only move/jump one frame when I first start to hold right or left key pressed, after this first jump CTI will stop to move,
            my movie and time counter will move and count as expected.
      2. If I repeat pressing right or left key with a speed faster than one press per 3seconds the CTI will be stopped, slower repeat than every 3 second then CTI will move on every key press.
      3. Note1   when CTI not move during continue key press or fast repeat R/L (< 3sec) the accumulated new CLI position will show up as a long jump on next press after 3sec paus.
      4. Note2   I have also verifies with my Win7 friend with a new installed PE 12.1 running just fine without this CTI problem. (MAC version only??)
If so, several things that I would like you to do if you have not already....
1. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file which should be found
    Users\Libraries\Application Support\Adobe\Premiere Elements\12

      But unfortunately my problem is still there.
2. In the opened project, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/General and experiment with the Timeline Playback Auto-Scrolling Options (No Scroll, Page Scroll, and Smooth Scroll).

No this is a licensed version 12.0 upgraded to 12.1
Summary:
My conclusion must be that this CTI behavior is a software bug (maybe only in MAC versionPE12 or in some combination).
How to fix my problem:
Will a reinstall likely fix the problem?
Or is´t a case for Adobe Support to handle?

Responsiveness of CTI with heavy effects

Before I post a feature request, I just wanted to check others also see this behaviour:
If I have a number of non-realtime effects applied to clips in a project i.e. Magic Bullet looks combined with color correction filters etc, I suffer from a laggy CTI. Now that's not too much of a problem and is to be expected. However, when you're navigating around and pushing space to play, this causes a problem most times because the playback will start at the previously rendered frame not the new selected frame.
So, if I position the CTI at a new place on the timeline and press play before Premiere has rendered the frame, playback will happen from the previous location. Very frustrating and slows down the edit.
Seems to me, what should happen is that Premiere should remember the new CTI location and start playback from there - as you might expect.
I wonder if it's the thrird party effects that are breaking the playback position?
Anyone else seen this?

I've just done a bit more testing - on another machine...
The problem also happens on this other machine although not as much as the time between jumping to the new clip and pressing space bar for playback is much shorter if it's to fail and reset to the beginning of the sequence.
I tested this by simply loading some XDCAM footage and randomly placing a number of clips onto the timeline. I then use shift-up or shift-down to jump to the next edit on the timeline and IMMEDIATELY press space to play - if this is quick enough, the CTI will jump to the beginning of the sequence. This does happen very regularly when I'm editing as I use a shuttle pro 2 with buttons assigned to next and previous edit, so the time between jumping to the edit and pressing play is pretty short - as you would normally do during edit.
Not sure if this is also the case for non-XDCAM footage though.
I'm still thinking this is because PPRO hasn't initialised the clip for playback or queued it up for playback and rather than waiting for it to be ready, it resets to the start of the sequence?

Phone PG & CTI RP PG

I want to split up my phones and cti routes. Currently I have one application user called pg_user that has both the phone devices and the cti route points being controlled by it.
I accidently deleted pg_user a while back while adding some devices to. I mean really. What developer thought it would be a good idea to put the delete button next to the save button... really....
So to protect my self from myself I want to split these two users up now.
I remember reading about doing this a long while back when I upgraded our ICM IPCC software from 7.0 to 7.5. For the life of me I can not find where that is. I have gone back through the admin guides but it just not jumping out at me.
I know I have to rerun ICMSETUP.exe and probably add another Call Manager PIM. I really dont want to just wing it though and I dont have a test bed.
Can anyone point me to the DOC or some instructions?

Improving Failover Recovery for Customers with Large Numbers of CTI Route Points
When a Unified CCE PG fails-over, the PIM connection that was previously controlling the Unified CM
cluster is disconnected from its CTI Manager, and the duplex or redundant side of the PG will attempt
to connect it's PIM to the cluster using a different CTI Manager and Subscriber. This process requires
the new PIM connection to register for all of the devices (phones, CTI Route Points, CTI Ports, and so
forth) that are controlled by Unified CCE on the cluster. When the PIM makes these registration
requests, all of them must be confirmed by the Unified CM before the PIM can go into an active state
and process calls.
To help recover more quickly, the Unified CCE PG can have a PIM created that is dedicated to the CTI
Route Points for the customer, thus allowing this PIM to register for these devices at a rate of
approximately five per second and allowing the PIM to activate and respond to calls hitting these CTI
Route points faster than if the PIM had to wait for all of the route points, then all the agent phones, and
all the CTI ports. This dedicated CTI Route Point PIM could become active several minutes sooner and
be able to respond to new inbound calls, directing them to queuing or treatment resources while waiting
for the Agent PIM with the phones and CTI Ports to complete the registration process and become active.
This does not provide any additional scaling or other benefits for the design; the only purpose is to allow
Unified CM to have the calls on the CTI Route Points serviced faster by this dedicated PIM. It should
be used only with customers who have more than 250 Route Points because anything less does not
provide a reasonable improvement in recovery time. Additionally, only the CTI Route Points that would
be serviced by Unified CCE should be associated with this PIM, and it should have its own dedicated
CTI-Enabled JTAPI or PGUser specific to the CTI Route Point PIM.

Is there a way to create a link to jump to a section of a page with iWeb?

For example, if you have a list of items categorized in alphabetical order, can you create a menu bar with the letters of the alphabet, and jump to each section by clicking on a letter?

For a few months now my ical keeps jumping back and forth. It's very hard to use my calendar as it doesn't open on today, it may stay a few seconds and then it goes backwards to random dates and forwards. It doesn't sit still so I can see what I have on

My iCal is driving me nuts.
It won't sit still when I am looking at my calender. I try holding it still with one finger, two fingers and it just moves. It jumps to random dates and I have no confidence in it any longer. I use my calendar all the time and this just isn't good enough.
I have gone into the apple store and they said they hadn't seen that before. It did it while I was there. They restored the phone and it didn't make any difference.
I have turned the calendar off in settings - mail - icloud - deleted and then turned back on again. It didn't help.
I put the Google Calendar app on in the hopes I would have a calendar that wouldn't frustrate me and it is so slow in responding, I have deleted it.
I see online that many others are having the same problem with their iCal.
It would be great to know the solution.

I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP! Yessssss!!!

I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process. Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal. No flashing yellow screen anymore!!

I can't jump to a day from month view in iOS 7 calendar

When I tap a date in month view of calendar it does not jump to the day view

This problem drives me crazy too. Specifically when i want to make an appointment quickly. Why does apple not take it into account? There are many posts about this issue.

My ipod 4th gen screen kept jumping this morning. Had to do a restore on it and it is working fine now. However, when I did the restore it did not load the Nike app that was factory installed on my ipod. I use this app daily. Any idea how to get it back

Anyone know how to get this app back from Apple? Loading the Nike app from the app store is not the same thing as you need gps running continually for it to work (as with an iphone). Can't have that with my ipod unless I'm connected to wifi. Help?? Thanks.

If you go to Settings do you see an entry for the Nike app? There is no way to delete or hide that app?
Have you tired using the Spotlight search? Maybe you just can't find it.
Next would be to restore a gain. First from backup then next to factory settings/new iPod.

Does work on the iPOd. You just do not get all the information that GPS/cellular connection can get. You will still be able to get distance/footstrikes like the installed app an you do not need the shoe sensor.. It uses the built-in sensors on the iPod

Will not recognize jump drive nor allow me to open DVD tray

Intermittantly, my G5 will not show my jump drive nor a CD on the desktop. At those times, it will not open the DVD tray either.
When this happens, I can go to system profiler and see both the jump drive and the CD--it's just not showing up on the desktop so I can't open them. The only way I can get the tray to open and to recognize the CD and or Jump Drive is to reboot the computer.
What is going on and why don't these show up on the desktop nor allow me to open the DVD tray.
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.3)
