CTM - Forecast Consumption for Dependent Demand

Hi
We have a scenario where the Planning Strategy for a assembly part (say X) is set to a custom copy of 70 so that forecast is consumed by dependent demand. Forecasts are released from DP for such assemblies.
The Parent of this assembly (say A) is defined when sales order is taken (Engineer-To-Order scenario) and BOM defined with X under it. The Finished Good 'A' itself may have any other planning strategy (say Make-To-Stock or Make-To-Order).
The problem we are seeing is that when system plans for X during a CTM run, the system adds the the dependent demand of the parent to the forecast of X itself. There is no forecast consumption, so this leads to doubling up of demand.
I understand that forecast consumption occurs in Livecache and CTM does not store the intermediate results of planning in Livecache as orders, so there is no forecast consumption.
Any suggestions on how forecast consumption of dependent demand can be achieved during the CTM run ?
Thanks
Rishi Menon

Hi,
Request you to go thru the CTM help library under topic sub assembly planning to resolve your issue..
It says you need to carryout two CTM runs.
In the first CTM planning run, you plan the sales orders, and in the second CTM planning run that you then execute immediately afterwards, you plan the planned independent demands of the assembly.

  • Forecast consumption by dependent requirements

    Hi All,
We have a requirement here that independent planning would be done for the header components and some of the BOM components.
    For Eg.
    BOM  of Matl A = 100 units
    has
    - Matl X = 100 units
    - Matl y = 100 units
Now a total production of 1000 units of Matl A is forecasted
and a total of 1500 units of Matl X is forecasted
In a normal scenario....1000 Units of Matl X would come as dependent requirement from Matl A.
So there would be a total requirement of 1500 units (independent) and 1000 units (dependent ) = total demand of 2500 Units.
However they only want to produce 1500 units of Matl X
Please suggest a possible way to solve this scenario in APO
    Thanks,
    Nalin

    Hi Nalin,
I don't know why the option suggested by Bipin didn't work.
It is possible to make it work, but I am not really sure how...
Anyway there might be an easier option for you: if you don't want to plann with dependant demand at all you can potentially exclude it from the "total demand" key figure.
This way your projected stock will not be reduce by this demand, and SNP will not plan for it.
This option is not as nice as the original one but should work.
However you need to pay attention to consistencies with other planning process (deployment and TLb for example, and ATD)
Note also that you can either:
    1. Create a smore ophisticated macro, who will exclude the dependant demand for some products only
    2. create a specific planning book, that will be used only for this calculation.
Again best will be to get the consumption working... good luck
    Thanks and Regards

  • Planning Dependent Demand with Phantom Strategy (59)

    Hi
We would like to maintain forecasts at a Phantom material level and consume this forecast based on dependent demand (Planning Strategy 59 in ECC and an equivalent custom strategy in APO). This works in ECC MRP, but does not appear to work in APO CTM.
For example - Phantom Material P1 has a forecast. MRP and CTM behave the same, exploding this demand and planning for components. Now, a Sales Order comes in for A1 which is a parent of P1. MRP creates planned order for A1 and dependent demand for P1 which is set to consume forecast (based on the planning strategy 59). CTM also creates a planned order for A1and directly creates dependent demand for components of P1 but does not create dependent demand for P1 itself. Due to this, there is no forecast consumption of P1 leading to doubling of demand.
Any suggestions how to get Dependent Demand to be created for Phantom materials (so that CTM behaves similar to strategy 59 in ECC MRP) ?
    Thanks

    Hello Rishi,
    Hope you are doing well.
Have you check the atp check mode. What value are you maintaining on check mode? What requirement type and requirement class are configured in ECC? There should be a class in ECC for Phentom Assembly and see if that is configured.
    Hope this helps.

  • Forecast consumption against CTO item in ASCP

In source side module (OM, MRP) , following is the observation:
    i) we define a forecast set with consume check box checked for ATO model
ii) create a sales order for ATO model , configure it .
The sales order quantity for configured item is consumed against forecast of ATO model.
I want to do same type(as source) of consumption in ASCP for configured item. Is this possible? I was trying to check this scenario in R12. Following is the setup:
    i) created forecast set with consume check box Unchecked for ATO model
ii) create sales order for ATO model and configure it .
    iii) run collection
    iv) define plan with plan options ;
consume by forecast bucket checked and explode forecast check box checked.
In this above setup, the sales order quantity for configured item is not getting consumed against forecast of ATO model. Is there any thing wrong in setup ? please let me know.

    Abhishek,
I would revisit this part of your setup for ASCP:
"created forecast set with consume check box Unchecked for ATO model"
You just instructed ASCP not to consume this forecast. The source side forecast set must have "consume forecast" selected.
Starting in 11.5.10 release, Oracle implemented very significant improvements for CTO model forecast consumption. The old MRP process supported forecast consumption for one level in the sales order organization only. Oracle ASCP 11.5.7 through 11.5.9 supported multi-level, multi-org forecast consumption for one source of organizations only.
So yes, your requirement is supported in 11.5.10 and later releases. ASCP will perform forecast consumption in this order:
    1. Consume the forecast for that specific Configured item (if entered)
    2. Consume the forecast for any remaining sales order demand for the referenced ATO Model.
    3. Explode the bill and consume the forecast for lower level options, subassembly configured items, and ATO models as needed.
To support this in a multi-org environment you will need to provide a global forecast and appropriate sourcing assignments.

  • User exits/BAdIs for Forecast consumption by sales order

    Hello Experts,
My question here is: When Sales Order either new or change comes from ECC to APO, what are key fields considered for Forecast Consumption? Is requirements strategy is considered from location product master or Sales Order brings own data from ECC into it's own structure? I have read from SAP help or documentation that Sales Order coming from ECC does not use requirement strategy from Product Master. Rather it get its own fields like planning strategy/group / requirement class from ECC. It uses location product master only to get consumption parameters like forward/back word consumption days. So I am thinking to use some user exits or BAdIs to enhance the incoming sales orders to consume separate forecast categories in APO.
    My requirement is:
For the same one product we want sales orders (can have two different order types or identify by a custom field) to consume two different order categories (ie. FA & FC) by enhancing incoming sales orders. So we have regular 1)Forecast key figure which is 'FA' category and 2)Forecast Additional key figure which is FC category. When we release two separate forecasts from DP we release into these two key figures and categories. Now we want incomping sales orders to consume these two categories separately when our sales orders are having two different order types (i.e OR and ZR).
I want to kow what way we can acomplish this? Are there any user exits or BAdIs for this purpose?
I looked arount BAdI /SAPAPO/DM_BADI_CSP and I am not quite sure it's going to help. Are there any others?
I appreciate if anybody explain me the process?
    Thanks in advance!

Standard Logic --- Whatever plant is visible in the Sales Order, the sales order will appear under that Product Location in SNP
There is no standard way of making the sales order visible in another location.
Depending on your requirement(Ex: Forecast Consumption, planning etc),using APO-BW we can simulate the requirements in the other plant which can be a nightly run and not immediate.
Now coming to your question, if the delivering plant is A, how does ECC Delivery document know when the sales order has plant B that the delivering plant is A.
    Can you be more specific.

  • Best practice for timing of Transfer of forecast to R/3 Demand Management

    Hi All,
I have APO DP 4.0 with monthly bucket. What is best practice to transfer the planning results to R/3. Meaning how many times we should transfer it?
And when forecast (PIR) is transfered it replaces the old PIR in demand management for that month. How it will affect the consumption of forecast in R/3? Meaning let us say in same month first time forecast transfered was 100 and by middle of the month 50 has been consumed. Now in same month forecast has been carried out and now 200 has been calculated for the same month and transfered to R/3. Now ideally the remaining quantity to be made should be 150 in R/3. Is it so? Any idea?
    TBR, MM

    Hi Somnath,
Thanks for the reply. The problem with frequent transfer of forecast to R/3 demand management is that the latest forecast ignores the prior shipments made in that month.
    I will give numeric example:
Let us say we are in September month and in first week transfered forecast of 100 for one product to demand management. In first two weeks 40 items have been shipped so remaining is 60.
Now we are in third week and planner realizes that instead of 100 we needed to plan 150 and 150 number is sent to R/3 demand management as a fresh forecast for that month.
Now for September month we should see net demand as 110 (=150-40). Somehow this is not happening. It shows as a whole 150 net demand. Any idea why it is not happening.
    Thanks and Best Regards, Manoj

  • How to generate Dependent Demand for aggregates in DP

    Dear All,
I am in the midst of DP implementation at one of our client.
Business Scenario: Plant A- Car and Plan B - Engine
I would like to know :
    1) How do I generate Engine Demand Plan wrto Car Demand using DP only?
    2) Do I need to know 2 diffrent planning areas?
Request you to suggest on ABAP deveopment reqd or DP BOM and its functionality or If I maintain Parent Child relationship in CVCs , then is it possible to use any macro functions which will copy the Final demand of Car in Engine Planning Book against 'ENGINE' as characteristic.
Or else request you to suggest a new approach to this solution.
    Points will be rewarded.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ashok

    Dear Ashok
Your requirement can be met using DP BOM. I am not sure about parent child CVC's , but DP - BOM should work.
You need to first create and activate PPM/ PDS for DP with usage D (BOM Demand Planning).
Assign it to model and create a  planning object structure with DP BOM relevant.
Create the master and CVC based on MPOS
Create a PA with 2 different KF( one for finished product, another for dependent BOM). Initilize the PA and version.
Config the forecast settings for PA.

  • CTM and Dependent Demand purchase Requisitions

    Hello Gurus,
We have a business situation where there are 2 plants which can produce a finished product from a single input product.  It is much less expensive for us to transport the finished product than the input product.  We want CTM to force the plant with the supply of input product to produce the product and send it if that plant has capacity - only transporting the input product to the demand plant if there is no capacity at the supply plant.
Plant A   Demand 100 units of Product X
Plant B  Supply of 100 units of Product Y which can be used to create Product O
PPMs for creation of Product at both plants.
    Desired outcome:
If Plant B has open capacity to create Product X prior to due date, Plant B creates Supply of Product X from Product Y and transports Product X.
If Plant B does not have open capacity to create Product X prior to due date, Plant B sends Product Y to Plant A which creates Product X.
The supply may be at Plant A or Plant B so the scenario must be able to work in either direction.
Currently, when CTM runs, it see the demand at Plant B and creates a planned order there, creating a purchase Requisition for the dependent demand.
Is there a solution for this?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Sarah

I have done some further testing of the system and have found that I can further clarify my question.
consider 3 production plants situated roughly in a line with PLANTA located 1000 KM east of PLANTB and PLANTB located 500 KM east of PLANTC.  Because PLANTC is nearer to PLANTB, the transportation lane procurement priority for PLANTC to PLANTB is lower than PLANTA to PLANTB (making PLANTC the first to be considered at a procurement source for PLANTB)
We have demand for a finished product at PLANTB.  We can create the finished material at PLANTA or PLANTC.  PLANTA has the input material in stock for creating the finished material.
When CTM makes its planning run, it looks at the PLANTB demand and determines that PLANTC is the correct procurement source for the finished material.  It looks for the finished material at PLANTC and can't find it, so it creates a Planned Order to create the finished material.  In order to do that, it pulls dependent demand from PLANTA.
The result is that we are moving input material west 1500 KM to PLANTC and then moving the finished material east 500 KM to PLANTB.
We have set our priority for moving input material very high, so it should be the last resort to move.
It appears that CTM is looking at the priority of the finished material only when determining procurement source.  Is there any setting I can make to the system so that it will look at both the dependent demand priority and the finished material priority when determining procurement source?
Alternately, is there a way to mark the ATP group EB as not being available during a specific CTM run (without removing the dependent material from the TLANE)?
Ideallly, we'd like to be able to move the dependent material to another plant if the capacity at the plant it is currently in is too full.
thanks in advance for any advice,
    Sarah

  • Forecast Consumption in SNP for shipped qty's

    Hello experts,
I got a question for forecast consumption in SNP and whether forecast stays "consumed" or not after a customer orders gets shipped (Post Goods Issue).
My example is: I have a weekly bucket forecast qty of 100 in DP and release this to SNP. Now in SNP planning book I have 30 units of open Customer Demand against it ... means I have 70 in Forecast line (30 units got consumed correctly). Once I create a shipment for the open Customer Order of 30 units in R3 the situations remains the same .. but if I post the Goods Issue now on the delivery document the Customer Demand disappears (which is correct) but my Forecast line increases again from 70 to 100. I thought forecast consumption in APO would "remember" the already shipped quantities ? I know that you can reorganize open forecast but want I'm looking for is the standard R3 behaviour of keeping already shipped qty's as consumed. Can anybody help here or explain ?
    Regards
    Thomas
    Using SCM5.0

    Hi Datta,
I checked the note  - there is only point 9 in the list saying:
"9. During goods issue for the delivery in R/3, the forecast is always reduced to the date requested by the customer. In addition, overdeliveries are ignored."
Unfortunately this doesn't explain how it works or needs to be done to have FCST consumption happen in APO_SNP based on shipped qty's. In my case FCST consumption works okay up to the point of posting the goods issue on a delivery document. I wonder if there something I need to activate somewhere to have this working since I can't see any "with drawn qty" in APO.
    Any other hints ?

  • Forecast Consumption in SNP for Make-to-Order products

We are working on using APO-SNP for Make-to-order products (PlngStrategyGroup = "81" in R/3). We want to achieve normal forecast consumptino on FinishedGoodLevel and generate PlndOrders which shall derive component demand for purchasing (such PlndOrers wont be released to production - they should only function as demand driven on component level)
What we have done so far: Forecast in APO-DP on Finished good level exists and has been released to SNP. The product gets "ciffed" from R/3 into APO material master with planning strategy group "20" (which is basically "make-to-stock") --> we were hoping this would allow us to use "normal" forecast consumption but nothing happens (FCST is not being consumpted by open Sales orders). Within the product view of such products APO is still "realizing" that this is a make-to-order product.
Any other ideas / thoughts what could be done to achieve "normal" forecast consumption on FGI level for make-to-order products in APO-SNP ?
    Tks !

I checked in /n/SAPAPO/RRP3 (Product View), unfortunately only FC exists there
Seems that the open Sales Orders from R/3 are being created within another segment (the "element" Tab of RRP3 shows 2 segments:
    1) "Make-to-stock" (which contains the FC)
    2) "Make-to-order" (which contains the Sales Orders)
That might explain the issue I see (FC and SOs are in different planning segment --> no consumption). Reading about planning segments in the help sounds like I need to find a way to bring Sales Orders for Make-to-Order products into the Make-to-stock segment  ... jus a thought .. any idea how to do this ? Does that mean I need to modify the CIF for Sales Order transfer for Make-to-order products ?
    Tks

  • Dependent demand in CTM

    Hi :
I have a problem when i am creating a demand for FG , dependent demand for component is not getting generated .
    I checked following :
    PPM exist
    Master data selection is right
Please suggest what else can be the reason .
Dependent demand is being generated for one other product using same profile

    Hi,
Assuming that planned order for finished good is getting created , would liekt o suggest ...
    1) Check with heuristic and also with infinite CTM if dependent demand is getting generated. If yes then no major problem with master data set up.
    2) Also go for  "Check CTM Master  Data" in CTM  profile. You may get some clue there. Its  available in Edit option in CTM profile.

  • Which order type gets collected and is used for forecast consumption

    Hi all,
I would like to know which Order Types (transaction types) get collected into ASCP (appear as demand) and which Order Types are used for forecast consumption.
I tried to find something in the user guides, but had not yet success :(
    What I want to do:
    1. decide which order types are collected or not
    2. decide which order types consume forecast or not
    Anyone any advices?
    Big thanks in advance,
    David.

    Hi,
Rather speaking like Order types, we may use word Sales Order. ASCP will collect all the Sales Orders for which we need to intiate action for Supplies. How it is determined?. It is determined from SO lines where in we have So lines are scheduled(it is prt of Workflow action too) and It is flaged 'Yes' for "Visible Demand Flag" . This is what designed functionality. We do not care what type of order type it is.
    thanks,

  • How Forecast Release and Consumption for Variant Configuration

    Hi experts,
we are planning in our project how to Forecast Release and Consumption for Variant Configuration
    can you explain me
    Regards,
    babu

    Hi Sivaramakrishna,
We tried the same but what is complicating is having "market" attribute of customer in R/3 and planning forecast in DP at the "market" level. There is no customer as such in DP. THere is only market. We could release forecast at market leve using "consumption group". But I am trying to figure out how to have the sales orders consume forecast at the location, product and market level in SNP.
Today we have our sales orders to consume forecast in SNP at location-product level. we are trying to take this to "location-product-market" level in SNP.
I think we need to use some settings for characteristic based or variable consumption I think...but not clear.
    Any help is appreciated.
Thanks for taking time to reply.
