CTM High Availability Agent Licensing

In a cluster of 2 servers, How many High Availability agents licenses are required? (One or two)

Only a single licence is required.
In your case, you will need 1 x CTM-4.x-SS-BDL and 1 x CTM-4.x-HA (depending on the version required).
You will also require the associated Veritas and Oracle software which are sourced separately.

  • OIM and High Availability

    Hi All...
Question about OIM and High Availability and licensing:
If I license OIM for production Server and OIM connectors and I want two have a 2nd machine that serves as stand-by machine, do I have to licence OIM and connectors for the stand-by machine?
    Thanks.

Scheduled tasks tuns on a specific server so running in a cluster won't really help you with having redundancy for scheduled tasks.
If you have very big scheduled task you have a few options:
    1. Introduce milestones
Change the code so that the process does the work in batches. If something happens you can return to the last milestone instead of having to go back to scratch.
    2. Multiple communicating threads
Implement batching and also run multiple threads that coordinate the effort and makes sure that there always are instances running on all nodes. If not spawn more instances until you get threads on all nodes. If a node dies the work is journaled back and is divided between the other threads. Would work but would probably get very complex.
Oracle recently ran training courses in OIM HA. I attended the course but I can't really distribute the material so please contact your Oracle account manager and ask them about the training.
    Hope this helps

  • NCS Licensing in High Availability

We are transitioning from a single WCS to NCS, and are looking at high-availability and the costs associated with it. How does the licensing work if you want a NCS high availability environment?  If you have a 10,000 device license on your primary, do you have to buy an additional 10,000 license for the secondary as well?  Or are they pooled?

A single license is necessary for a given HA cluster - please note the answer in this thread.

  • Generating license for ISE high availability primary/secondary nodes

We have two ISE servers that will act as primary/secondary in a high availability setup.
The ISE 1.0.4 installation guide, page 93, mentions that "If you have two Cisco ISE nodes configured for high availability, then you must include both the primary and secondary Administration ISE node hardware and IDs in the license file."
However, after entering the PAK in the licensing page, the only required fields are:
    - Primary Product ID
    - Primary Version ID
    - Primary Serial No
In this case, how can i include both primary and secondry HW and IDs?
    Thanks in advance.

I am refering you a Cisco ISE Nodes for High Availability configuration guide, Please check:

  • SharePoint Foundation 2013 - Can we use the foundation for intranet portal with high availability ( medium farm)

Today I had requirement, where we have to use the SharePoint Foundation 2013 (free version) to build an intranet portal ( basic announcement , calendar , department site , document management - only check-in check-out / Version).
Please help me regarding the license  and size limitations. ( I know the feature comparison of Standard / Enterprise) I just want to know only about the installation process and license.
6 Server - 2 App / 2 Web / 2 DB cluster ( so total license 6 windows OS license , 2 SQL Server license and Guess no sharepoint licenes)

    Thanks Trevor,
Is load balance service also comes in free license... So, in that case I can use SharePoint Foundation 2013 version for building a simple Intranet & DMS ( with limited functionality).  And for Workflow and content management we have to write code.
Windows Network Load Balancing (the NLB feature) is included as part of Windows Server and would offer high availability for traffic bound to the SharePoint servers. WNLB can only associate with up to 4 servers.

    Hello Arjun,
Have you executed any other installation prior this attempt?
It seems there are unfinished installations on this server. If this is the case, run the SWPM to uninstall the unfinished installation. Then, execute the installation once again.
Also, make sure all IPs are corrects in the DND and host files. There were cases in which the IPs were not properly configured, or maybe a typo.

  • Hyper-V 2012 High Availability using Windows Server 2012 File Server Storage

    Hi Guys,
Need your expertise regarding hyper-v high availability. We setup 2 hyper-v 2012 host in our infra for our domain consolidation project. Unfortunately, we don't have hardware storage that is said to be a requirement that we can use to create a failover cluster
for hyper-v host to implement HA. Here's the setup:
    Host1
    HP Proliant L380 G7
    Windows Server 2012 Std
Hyper-V role, Failover Cluster Manager and File and Storage Services installed
    Host2
    Dell PowerEdge 2950
    Windows Server 2012 Std
Hyper-V role, Failover Cluster Manager and File and Storage Services installed
    Storage
    Dell PowerEdge 6800
    Windows Server 2012 Std
    File and Storage Services installed
I'm able to configure the new feature about Shared Nothing Live Migration - i'm able to move VM's back and fort between my hosts without storage. But this is planned and proactive approach. My concern is to have my hyper-v host to become highly available in
the event of system failure. If my host1 dies, the VMs should go/move to host2 and vice versa. In setting this up, i believe i need to enable the failover clustering between my hyper-v hosts which i already did but upon validation, it says "No disks
were found on which to perform cluster validation tests." Is it possible to cluster it using just a regular windows file server? I've read about SMB 3.0 and i've configured it as well i'm able to save VMs on my file server, but i don't think that my hyper-v
    hosts are already highly available.
Any feedback and suggestions or recommendation is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your shared storage is a single point of failure with this scenario so I would not consider the whole setup as a production configuration... Also setup is both slow (all I/O is travelling down the wire to storage server, running VMs from DAS is ages faster)
and expensive (third server + extra Windows license). I would think twice about what you do and either deploy a built-in VM replication technologies (Hyper-V Replica) and apps built-in clustering features that does not require shared storage (SQL Server and
Database Mirroring for example, BTW what workload do you run?) or use some third-party software creating fault tolerant shared storage from DAS or investing into physical shared storage hardware (HA one of course).
    Hi VR38DETT,
Thanks for responding. The hosts will cater a domain controller (on each host), Web filtering software (Websense), Anti-Virus (McAfee ePO), WSUS and an Auditserver as of the moment. Is the Hyper-V Replica somewhat give "high availability" to VMs or Hyper-V
hosts? Also, is the cluster required in order to implement it? Haven't tried that but worth a try.

  • Windows 2012 RDS - Session Host servers High Availability

    Hello Windows/Terminal server Champs,
I am new middle of implementing RDS environment for one of my customer, Hope you could help me out.
My customer has asked for HA for RDS session host where applications are published, and i have prepared below plan for server point of view.
     2 Session Host server, 1 webaccess, 1 License/connection
    Broker & 1 Gateway (DMZ).
In first Phase, we are planning to target internal user
who connect to Session host HA where these 2 servers will have application installed and internal user will use RDP to access these application.
In second Phase we will be dealing with external Party who connect from external network where we are planning to integrate with NetIQ => gateway
    => Webaccess/Session host
I have successfully installed and configured 2 Session
Host, 1 license/Broker. 1 webAccess & 1 Gateway. But my main concern to have session Host High Available as it is hosting the application and most of the internal user going to use it. to configure it i am following http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753891.aspx
However most of the Architecture is change in RDS 2012. can you please help me out to setup the Session Host HA.
Note: we can have only 1 Connection broker /Licensing server , 1 webacess server & 1 Gateway server, we cannot increase more server due to cost
    factor.
     thanks in advance.

Yes, absolutely no problem in just using one connection broker in your environment as long as your customer understands the SPOF.
the session hosts however aren't really what you would class HA - but to set them up so youhave reduancy you would use either Windows NLB, an external NLB device or windows dns round robin. My preferred option when using the connection broker is DNS round
robin - where you give each server in the farm the same farm name dns entry - the connection broker then decides which server to allocate the session too.
You must ensure your session host servers are identical in terms of software though - same software installed in the same paths on all the session host servers.
if you use the 2012 deployment wizard through server manager roles the majority of the config is done for you.

  • Oracle EBS R12.1.3 High Availability with RAC 11g on VMWARE

    Dear All,
Our customer requirement is of high availability and good utilization of hardware for EBS R12.13 implementation. As per our strategy we want to use Oracle VM(I think it doesn't require any licensing) , RAC 11gR2 and appstier load balancing. We have only two servers to achieve all these. One one node there will be two VMs one for dbtier and another one for appstier and same will be on second server. So this way we will be having four virtual machines on two physical nodes. For all these we will use OEL Linux as Operating system
Please share your experiences , if above deployment model is correct or need further enhancements.

  • High availibility on 2500

    Hello guys,
I have an environment with 1 AIR-CT2504-K9 implemented.
I'm trying to configure N+1 High Availability with AIR-CT2504-HA-K9 following this article:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/technology/hi_avail/N1_High_Availability_Deployment_Guide/N1_HA_Overview.html
I configured the primary controller as the following:
In the secondary controller (AIR-CT2504-HA-K9), i'm trying to configure the Redundancy > Global Configuration parameters, but the option "Redundancy" is not available on this controller. There is anything to be activated about the license to Redundancy option become available?
The information that I have is saying that this WLC doesn't need license.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Yes it will work. But I will suggest you to configure separate manually.
Treat them as 2 separate wlc.
These WLCs are independent of each other and do not share configuration or IP addresses on any of their interfaces. Each WLC needs to be managed and configure separately.
Simply configure your standby controller to match the wireless configuration on your primary, then add the standby information to the AP (Under High Availability). When the primary controller becomes unreachable, the AP moves to the standby.
Once first wlc go down and AP will join to 2nd wlc then automatic evalu license will start.
    Hope it helps.

I'm lloking to choose the architecture of our BizTalk 2013 solution.
The application server will be build on virtual machines, but I still have interrogation about the SQL Server.
Is a SQL Server on a VM supported for BizTalk 2013 ?
Because in case of physical failure, the VM moved to another server can we considered the VM as a solution of High-Availability ?
    thanks for your reply.

When the SQL VM fails over what attributes of the server will change? If everything including the server name, the mapped SAN locations (for Databases) and/or the versions of SQL will remain the same then it will behave like a temporary network outage between
    the Front-end and the SQL.
If however, the failed over VM has a different set of mapped location for DB then you would need to establish a BizTalk Log Shipping between SQL VM 1 and SQL VM 2. In this scenario, the recovery will require time and cannot be automatic.
A word of caution though. If you have SLA's pertaining to transactions/messages per second with the customer then you might want to evaluate having dedicated boxes of SQL. The SQL Licensing is PER CORE and in a VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT all the
CORES have to be licensed since the Virtualization does not permit you to BIND the VM to a specific set of CORES. The same would apply for your BizTalk Servers. This just might work out costlier as opposed to the dedicated server environment.
    Regards.

  • UCCX stand alone to high availability

I have a production UCCX signle server deployment on 7.0(1). I am going to upgrade this to high availability and just needed to check out the procedure to upgrade the existing production server to the first node in HA. My 2nd server is already built, with UCCX and SQL 2000 so it is ready to go. Upon reading the upgrade guide it seems like all I need to do is upgrade SQL and then apply the HA license (it is sort of vague I feel for something this crucial). So you do not need to re-run the install to define first node?
Any opinion (or link to a more detailed document) will be appreciated.

I know this is an old post but for the sake of the community the answer is yes. if it was set up as a
stand alone node to begin with it can be changed to first node using the cet.bat tool to change the startup behavior of the appadmin page as described here.

this will allow you to change the node from stand alone to first node  by re-running the initial UCCX setup wizard.

  • Goldengate High Availability

    Hi experts,
Suggest me what approach should i follow for the given Scenario
we have unidirectional Goldengate setup on Server A and Server B,
On Server A we have one Manager, One extract and one Pump
On Server B we have One Manager, one replicate
Suppose Our Server A is get down/crash due to any reason or Manager/extract get down then how can we achieve Goldengate High Availability.
Simply my question is also that,  extract should send all the data on Replicate Machine(Server B) without lag, so that no data lose.
I am Using Goldengate 11.1.1.1.2 version and  cant use RAC..

    Sanchit,
Are you running a Linux environment ?  Have you considered using Oracle Clusterware and the XAG bundled agents for GoldenGate.  I have recently setup exactly what you have.  A 2 node cluster where Node1 - Source, Node2 - Target.   Both databases using Oracle ASM that is included with Clusterware.  Also, $GG_HOME is on ACFS, which ensures trail files, prm files , etc. are available all the time to both servers.
Also, this is NOT RAC.  I have both databases configured for Single Instance failover.   So, if node1 goes down, Goldengate and the source database are sent over to nodeB.  You would have to create 2 GG_HOME, on their own ACFS file systems w/in the cluster..but that's not that big of a deal.   Please note I am running Oracle 11.2.0.3.6; and GG 11.2.1.0.9  .
check out  MOS note 1527310.1  - I followed this , and I have both Source and Target GG instances failing over to either node...and bringining the database with it.   Failover, including instance transfer is less than 2 minutes..
Just another idea to maybe consider.

  • High availability for file server and exchange with 2 physical servers

    Dear Experts,
I have 2 physical server with local disks only. I want to setup below on same with high availability, please advise best prossible options. We will be using windows 2012 R2 Server..
    1. Domain controller
    2. Exchange 2013
As of now I am thinking of setting up below:
    1. Install Hyper-v on both and create 3 VM on each as
-On Host A- 1 VM for DC, 1 VM for File server with DFS namespace and replication for file server HA and 1 VM for Exchange 2013 with CAS/MBX with DAG and DNS RR for Exchange HA
-On Host B - 1 VM for ADC, 1 VM for File server DFS member for above and 1 VM for Exchange 2013 CAS/MBX with DAG member
I have read on internet about new features called scale out file server (SoFS) in Windows 2012 Server but not sure that will be preferred for file sharing.
Any advise will be highly appreciated..
Thanks for the help in advance..

    Best regards,
DFS is by far the best way to implement any sort of file server. Because a) failover is not fully transparent and does not happen always (say not on copy ) b) DFS cannot replicate open files so if you edit a big file and have node rebooted you're going to
lose ALL transactions/updates you've applied c) actually slows down the config. See:
    DFS for failover
    http://help.globalscape.com/help/wafs3/using_microsoft_dfs_for_failover.htm

    DFS Performance
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2009/08/22/windows-server-dfs-namespaces-performance-and-scalability.aspx
SoFS a) requires shared storage to run and you don't have one b) does not support generic workloads
(only Hyper-V and SQL Server) and c) technically makes sense to expand SAS JBOD or existing FC SAN to numerous Hyper-V clients over 10 GbE w/o need to invest money into SAS switches and HBAs and FC HBAs and new licenses FC ports. Making long story short:
    SoFS is NOT YOUR CASE.

For now you need to find some shared storage to be a back end for your hypevisor config (SAS JBOD from supported list, virtual SAN from multiple vendors like for example StarWind see below, make sure you review ALL the vendors) and then you create a failover
SMB 3.0 share for your file server workload. See:
Clustered Storage Spaces over SAS JBOD

For Exchange you use SMB share from above for a file share witness and use DAG. See:
    Exchange DAG
Good luck! Hope this helped :)
StarWind VSAN [Virtual SAN] clusters Hyper-V without SAS, Fibre Channel, SMB 3.0 or iSCSI, uses Ethernet to mirror internally mounted SATA disks between hosts.

  • Redirect Call to Another Extension not answering - No Agent License

    Hi there,
We are trying to create a simple script, the main issue is if this script could be achieved without using agent licenses. The script is defined as follows:
    - Working Days from  8:00 am - 14:00 pm ----> Redirect Call to an Extension (Parameter_1)
    - Working Days from 16:00 pm - 19:00 pm ----> Redirect Call to an Extension (Parameter_1) if busy or not available redirect to another extension (Parameter_2)
    - NOT Working Days (Saturday and Sundays only) + Working Days rest of hours ----> Redirect Call to an Extension (Parameter_3)
The problem is how can I redirect a call to another extension if the first extension is not available without using agent license.
    Thank you in advance....

    Correct.
You set a timeout on the step, this timeout value needs to be less than the time required for the line to forward or an answering machine to pick up. 10 seconds I believe is the default and is generally acceptable for the task.
From there, your logic will depend on the Timeout branch; as you might imagine this indicates the consult transfer timed out and the other end did not pick up prior to the timeout value in seconds.
