HI
I want to know , can we SCM server for CTM functionality instead of having separate server for CTM ?
In our scenario , we do not want to have another server and want to use SCM server for CTM .
Any pointer in the regard , will be a great help.
Regards
BhupendraHi,
I am not sure how you will be able to manage with a single server for both Application server and CTM Optimizer server.
Yes, CTM optimizer server runs on Windows and SCM appl server runs on either Unix or AIX. Apart from that there are a number of other factors that drives the need for a separate CTM optimizer server.
1) For APO, most of the application server's work processes are utilized for other batch processing that takes place and placing the CTM server might prove dampening.
2) The CTM engine in itself requires multi core processer and huge amount of Cache memory for it to be able to chunk the master and transcation data.
Another technical aspect is that the CTM engine runs on C++ code and it necessarily needs to have a separate instance running and cannot be part of the SCM servers which are based on different technology.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

CTM 8.0 Solaris 10 Sparc-64 Installation Problems
I am installing CTM 8.0 on a Solaris 10, Sparc 64 Sun Server/Workstation. I am having a problem installing the CTM, I installed Oracle 9i with no problems(that I know of) with patch 9.2.0.8. When I go to start the ctmsetup.sh it checks for the latest version of JRE, which is fine, however it says that I don't have the Solaris patches for JRE and it lists them. Well the patches I have are more up to date then those listed so when I tried to install the patches they listed it said that they were obsoleted by what I have already. Secondly it gives the message "Starting Cisco CTM Server Installation using Install Anywhere" but then the next line says "You pressed Cancel/Upgrade/Install" when I hadn't pressed anything, and it just stays there. Your help is much appreciated.
Thanks!Hi, how you setup oracle 9.2.0.8 patch?? I tried
cd /oraclesw9i/Disk1
./runInstaller -silent -responseFile /oraclesw9i/patchset_64bit_9208.rsp but, with key -silent i have an error: cannot communicate with X server, on my WinXP workstation?

Upgrade CTM or Downgrade CTC ?
Hi all,
we've been implement DWDM ring consist of 4 nodes ONS15454SDH (ver 7.2) and recently we've added a new DWDM ROADM consist of 5 nodes (ver. 8.51).
currently we're using CTM 8.0 to monitor existing ONS ver 7.2, but with new added nodes ver 8.51, we'll have to upgrade existing CTM8.0 to CTM8.5
issues:
1. we've using CTM server 8.0 to monitor and report traffic for our clients and vital because we don't have any other NMS for Cisco DWDM.
2. upgrading CTM8.0 to CTM8.5 will need downtime, correct me if i'm wrong!
this will make us lost NMS data reported to our client which is avoided.
questions:
1. which one is better, upgrade the NMS server or trying to downgrade Cisco ONS 8.51 to 8.0 software version? (if it's possible)
2. if i'm gonna upgrade NMS CTM8.0 to CTM8.5, is there any issue with bugs , etc?
as you know last time when I upgrade NMS from CTM 7.2 to 8.0, I got bugs which i can't restore my database after upgrade the NMS server. this make us to create an incident report and apologize to our client for losing our NMS database about nine-month periode.
Thanks&Regard
RanoNew software usually have new features and bug fixes that you can take advantage of.
So you should upgrade your CTM to 8.5.
Before upgrading read the CTM8.5 release note and make sure you are aware of any caveat.
It is usually best practice to do a full system backup of your CTM server so that you can recover in the event of upgrade problems..
Upgrade your CTM when you have less activities on the Network, that way you minimize risk to your customers. Note that once the upgrade is completed, CTM will syncronized and retrieve any outstanding and PM data on the DWDM devices. -
CTM 8.5 Database Export issues
I am unable to complete a successful DB export using either the GUI or CLI procedures. When I do the CLI this is the messages I get. Any help would be appreciated, as I need to apply some patches.

APO CTM - 'no available and free destination addresses could be found'
I am using APO CTM release 5.1.
When I run CTM I get error message 'no available and free destination addresses could be found'.
Does anyone know the reason for this error.
Thanks...Hi,
Check the avaailibility of the CTM optimization server.
Go to transaction COPT00 and check the CTM server connection cutomization and also test the same with "connection test" option.
Also it is possible that some more CTM engines are running simultaneously and hence the engine is not able to find a server.
Hope this will help.

My customer installed an LMS 3.2 on Windows 2008 Server with SP1.

And all Devices marked in the device selector.
At least the E-Mail configuration was set.

I attached the output of pdshow command.
What is causing these Problem? A corrupt database or some invalid setting??
Does anybody has an idea?
Thanks in advance
FrankHi Joe,
thanks for your fast reply.
The corresponding SR is 614309645.
These are the TAC provided files and sizes.

05/06/2010 10:46 AM 7,112 ProcessEPMDataManager.class
The setup instruction from TAC:
1- Stop the daemon manager:
net stop crmdmgtd
2- Go to:
$NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/webapps/triveni/WEB-INF/classes/com/cisco/nm/trx/nos/server
and backup the original files (either copy them to another safe directory or rename them to something like . Please don't retain the original extension when renaming the files.
3- Make sure that the patch files have the following MD5s:
MD5 (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem$epmAlarmHistory.class) = 08851732b0b3aac5bb0636cc3e8e3c10
MD5 (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem$epmConditionHistory.class) = 7933e55abb6ad604aa6ca8d3126ff189
MD5 (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem$epmEventProperties.class) = af3b72952ec59d59e30b0309af80a9d2
MD5 (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem.class) = a70f49f8eab6bdea007b4ddd79e3809f
MD5 (ProcessEPMDataManager.class) = a6ec024955bb638d8fec47694816a82a3-
4- Replace the originals in the above mentioned directory with these versions.
5 Start the Daemon manager:
net start crmdmgtd
I followed these instructions and still facing the problem.
I also searched for the libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll, i found them, but in a path not included in the Windows PATH variable. Therefore these files should not influence LMS.
In the NOS Log i still see these messages:
10-May-2010|15:01:10.027|ERROR|NOS|Process EPM Data Thread:Pooled Thread:1|EpmDataQueueItem|processEPMData()|.|Caught Exception in processEPMData(): java.util.NoSuchElementException

Since these Messages depends on EPM Data i had a look into the EPMServer.log and EPM.log
The EPMServer.log is shortened and showing all entries from the last dmgtd start. After the usual urn_not_found messages and the init of the Groups the following entry is generated:

Hi guys,
I've a problem with my CUOM. When I try to create a node-to-node test, the CUOM shows me the next message:
"Cannot add IP SLA Test. Please see the SM.log file for more information. Make sure IP SLA responder is enabled in the destination."
In the file SM.log there are the next errors:

Apache Tomcat/5.5.29Dear All,
I have resolved the above problem by following the below procedure.
step-1
HUM log recovery has been done, but problem still persisted.
net stop crmdmgtd
deleted upm (hum) log file from the location NMSROOT\databases\cmf\upm.log
NMSROOT\objects\db\win32\dbsrv10.exe -f NMSROOT\databases\cmf\upm.db --> the database was set to forced closed (i.e. indicating that there are no more pending transactions)
step-2
net stop crmdmgtd
NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=upm dmprefix=UPM --> reinitialized the HUM database
net start crmdmgtd
Now I am successfully able to create the interface utilization poller in HUM.
Please rate this thread if it is useful of anyone..

Syslog Reports not collect Syslog.log file Messages
I am doing a installation on CiscoWorks 3.2. after two three weeks I found my syslog services is not working properly. Once I checked on the syslog.log its updated with the device logs as normal. But when I am going to generate report it’s not collect data from the syslog log file. I have notice my syslog analyzer and syslog collator processes are shown as = Program started - No mgt msgs received. Is this normal on the LMS serve?
Anyway I found following error massagers on the SyslogAnalyzer.log file.
cisco.nm.xms.ctm.common.CTMException: CTMRegistryClient::addNewURNEntry URN : SyslogAnalyzerService ErrMsg : URN already in use

Hi Everyone, We are running LMS 3.2 in a solaris environment. When attempting to create pollers in HUM we recieve an error message stating "Unable to update the database, Check the upm_process.log for more details. To try to correct the problem we reset the HUM database by executing the following "NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=upm dmprefix=UPM" Once resetting the DB we still experience the same error. We checked the upm_process.log file and found the following errors related to columns in the database that can not be null. We are unsure of the next steps to take to correct the problem. Has anyone ever experienced the errors below when trying to create HUM pollers ? Thanks for the help - John

Technical Pre-reqs for running PPDS heuristics
Folks -
Can somebody please let me know if we have to go through some technical setup for PPDS heuristics (standard lot heuristics or campaigh heuristics)to run?
For example, to be able to run CTM, we need to set up the CTM server or for SNP or PPDS optimizer, we need to set up the optimization server..
DO PPDS heuristics need any such setup?
Appreciate your help.
Thanks
VarunNo - there is nothing special to be setup at the Hardware or Server level for running PPDS Heuristics.
PPDS Heuristics run on Master Data - Product Master and Source of Supply (PPM/PDS and Resources for In-house produced items and Transportation Lanes for externally procured items).
CTM uses Optimiser Engine hence separate setup is required.

Hi Expert,
I have a problem with ONS 15454 error message. My CTM server detected MINOR error message "Peer to Peer Slot Communication Failure". Affected object is SLOT-1 which is OPT_BST. The alarm ID is 200551. What caused this error appear and any workaround to solve this problem?. Your kind attention is much appreciated.Although the following alarm is not identical to the one you identified, this seems to indicate the a peer "communication failure" is hardware related.
2.5.237 PEER-NORESPONSE
Default Severity: Major (MJ), Non-Service-Affecting (NSA)
Logical Object: EQPT
The switch agent raises a Peer Card Not Responding alarm if either traffic card in a protection group does not receive a response to the peer status request message. PEER-NORESPONSE is a software failure and occurs at the task level, as opposed to a communication failure, which is a hardware failure between peer cards.
Hope this helps.... -
After debugging the Device and Credentials Repository, I disabled the corresponding debug mode in CS Log Configuration and I also tried out the "reset all"-button. But the dcrclient.log-file is still growing fast and filled up with debug-messages. Is there any other way to disable debugging ?
