Switch to 2nCap's WinPE and show [Recovery Manager]'s Incomplete Dialog.
because RM's dialog can't appear on [Start] screen on Win8 enviroment.
customer may not notice RM already shows Error dialog.
there might be unexpected reboot during BBV Clean ro Last...
The process will cause CTO panic because the image might not be normal...
Is this because the BIOS was updated??? How can I put the BOIS back to factory?

Dear Customer,
Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you.
It looks like you are not able to Boot into the Operating System on your Notebook.
We will surely assist you with this.
Originally the Notebook will have the Recovery Partition and that would give you an option to create a set of Recovery Disk. If you have not created those Recovery Disks when the Notebook was in working condition we cannot do that right now
As of now if you need to recover your Notebook with the new Operating System you can check if the Recovery Partition
is in a working condition or not, If yes you can easily recover/restore your Notebook
If Recovery Partition is corrupted
You need to call HP Technical Support and request for a set of Recovery Disks , So you can recover/restore your Notebook at the earliest
OR
You need call up Microsoft and purchase an Operating System with the License Key, So you can recover/restore your Notebook at the earliest
I strongly recommend you to Contact HP Technical Support over the Phone for further assistance without any delay
Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

  • New Envy dv7 with Windows 8 is unable to open DVDs

I have a brand new Envy dv7 with Windows 8. Put my printer DVD in the drive to install the software. While a drive is shown in Explorer, the title is not displayed and trying to open the DVD results in an error message saying the disc might be corrupt. I torks just fine in my Compaq Windows 7 machine. The "eject" menu function does not eject the CD, but  does cause my external hard drive's activity light to go on. Interestingly, when I use the taskbar hardware eject, it shows both the DVD and the external hard drive on the same device.

Tried a solution mentioned for Windows 7 but using the Win 8 version (CDDVDWinDiag), which found the drive, fixed some class problems, and then said it could not read the media. Nevertheless, I was able to read the media fine after that. However, after using right click eject, the drive again disappeared from the system. Running the utility again, re-found the drive, but as soon as one ejects the DVD, the drive disappears again.

I have a click free for a backup for my computer so when i went to restore my couputer all my music and movies are there but  when my power went out ,I want to watch a movie in the new Itunes none of my movies would play. It looks like i had to download them again with icloud and why sose some songs and videos have the icloud on them in the upper right corner if i don't have to download them again?

    HI
I bought HP Pavilion dv6 7007tx noteboook two days back and installed Windows 7 Professional.

How can i restore its original HP logo before Windows 7 starts up.
    Thanks

    Hello
Thanks for your prompt response. I have tried to solve the matter by following the steps given in the first link but i was unable to find BOOT SECTION and also BOOT SECTION DIAGNOSTIC SCREEN. All i could find in the BIOS setup were MAIN, SECURITY, DIAGNOSTIC, SYSTEM, CONFIGURATION & EXIT Menues, therefore the matter is still unsolved. Will i need to reinstall Windows 7 again to fix this?
Secondly, there is another issue with my newly bought machine HP Pavilion dv6 7007tx is that, my sound often will not work particularily for multimedia or videos when i am using it on battery or even if it is booted on battery. It works perfectly (so far) when i am powering it with adaptor. While using on battery, the windows normal sound would work fine but multimedia songs or videos sometimes work and most of the time do not work. i've tried to fix this while gone through all possible options. Even the F11 mute botton does'nt lit indicaing that sound for multimedia will not work now.
Please advise to overcome both the issues.
    Thanks.

The touchpad on the envy 17 is giving me fits.  I'd like to disable it.  I've done it on THIS computer, quite simply, in the past but a recent software update and tech support phone call/interaction may have changed that.  Once located in a different place, the option for  'disable' function is greyed out.   I've checked other inquiries of same or similar requests.  For the record, after reasing past posts, there is NO Hardware option from the Control Panel as suggested here:Click start- Click control panel- Click Hardware and Sound- Under "Devices and Printers" click on "Mouse"- Click the "ClickPad Settings" tab- Place a check in "Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached" This process referenced also is unavailable:Control Panel > MouseSelect Clickpad settings tabTick "Disable internal ...."Click Apply then OK to get out.To get it back, untick #3 above.   This is very frustrating. Please help.

  • Secondhand iphone 3g won't factory restore from itunes

Hi, I bought a second hand Iphone 3g and when i pluged it in to my computer to do a factory restore it came up with error code, 1015. I've tried to follow steps on the apple website but cannot get the iphone restore and now it wont turn on  past a screen showing a usb with an arrow pointing to an itunes symbol. Does anyone know whats wrong or how I could fix it?

I had sync issues with my iphone and itunes on Win7. Seemed to last for ever, I ended up buying a new sync cable and all my problems seemed to go away.
The other thing you can try is to launch itunes as administrator if that does work try launching itunes in XP compatibility mode. Both of those worked for me off and on as I struggled with this issue until I bought the new cable.

  • Deskjet 6988 printer to wireless network (Envy laptop w/ Windows 8.1)

I've had my HP Deskjet 6988 printer for years and always had it connected to my desktop via USB 2.0 cable. I purchased a HP Envy laptop with Windows 8.1 and want to connect the printer via my home network/Belkin router, as the USB 2.0 cable that came with the printer doesn't seem to work in the Envy USB ports for direct printing . The software disk didn't work in the laptop, so I downloaded the software and utility (print and scan) software for 8.1 from the HP website.
I ran the downloads, the setup wizard started, said "The wizard will connect to the internet and help you install the best available software for your printer." I clicked next and a window opens "Discovering device" and then another "Retrieving install device" then...nothing.  The wizard window closes. My setup manual is useless. It tells me to use the wizard on the software disk that doesn't work on my laptop (and is outdated and for the wrong OS anyhow, because it was for my desktop, which ran on VIsta.)
I did somehow manage to get the printer installed on the laptop - I can see it under the available printers.  And if I have an ethernet cord connected directly from the printer to my router, it will print. But if I unplug the ethernet cord, it will not print. I can't keep the ethernet cord plugged in for printing, because the router is in my living room, behind the TV and my office is upstairs. I would rather not keep my printer on the living room floor by our TV, so I really need it to work wirelessly!
My problem is - how do I get the printer added to my home network (Belkin  router). The wireless router is all set up and working - I'm actually using it right now to access the internet and post this message.
So, my printer is installed on my laptop. The driver is the most recent, intalled today from HP.com and I don't have a software disk to use for a setup wizard.
What are the next steps to connect my printer to the network, so I can print wirelessly? Hopefully, I've given enough information. I've read all of the help sections on HP.com customer service and none of them seem to tell me what to do.
    Thank you!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Through a lot of trial and error, I actually figured it out  myself. I did a lot of jumping around, so hopefully I remember everything I did:
    1) Install the printer driver using the disk or download.
    2) Connect the printer to the router using an ethernet cable, which looks like a big phone cord (no need to connect the printer to your laptop.)
    3) Bring up the laptop's system "search" on your laptop and in the search type "Network" then click on "Network" link to open it.
    4) You should see the printer icon listed under your computers and other devices already found on the network.
    5) Double click/tap on the printer icon and it will open the printer's "web page" in your browser.
    6) Click/tap the "Networking" tab near the top of the scren.
    7) In the left sidebar, under "Connections," click "Wireless" to open it.
    8) Start and use the wizard to enter your router information. (Make sure to give the printer a distinct name here, so you can distinguish it from any other printers listed on your laptop. For example,  I named mine "Deskjet 6988 Network")
    9) Unplug the ethernet cord from the printer.
    10) If your wireless printer doesn't show up in the list of printers when you go to print something, you have to add it:
    11) Open the laptop system search again and type "Devices and printers" and click/tap the link.
    12)   Click the "Add a Printer" link near the top. The computer will search for printers and the new networked printer should appear in the list (Hint: it wil have an IP address listed under "Address" column rather than a file.)
    13) Add the networked printer and run the test print to make sure it works. Make it your default printer and can delete any of the other 6988 printers listed if you want to.
    14) You should now see your networked printer in the list of printers when you go to print something.
Hope that helps someone else some day!

  • Has anyone sucessfully used the new Winclone 3.2 to backup and restore  Bootcamp partittion with Windows 7 Ultimate on MBP with Lion 10.7.3?

Bought late 2011 MBP 17" with Bootcamp partition (Windows 7 Ultimate) and Lion OS 10.7.3
I am trying to make a backup of Bootcamp partition before I start using my laptop but it proves to be a difficult task.
I don’t have any installation disk for Windows 7 and I am afraid that, if a disaster strikes and I loose the HDD, my copy of Windows will be gone.
The only way to restore Windows partition according to what I read so far is to do the following:
    • Use Windows to backup data from BootCamp Partition
    • Reinstall OS Lion formatting full hard drive in the process
    • Use BootCamp Assistant to create BootCamp partition
    • Install Windows 7 on bootcamp partion
    • Use Windows 7 to restore data from backup file created in the first step
The only problem is that I don't any image or disk to re-install Windows 7. With Windows 7 I can create only 'repair disk' (for what it is worth) or system image but according to other users it would format the whole drive including OS Lion partition when reinstalling
Winclone 3.2 seems like the answer to my prayers but would like to hear from the users if it worked for them (most imprtantly, did the restore work?).

Got the response from Winclone regarding my confusion in step 18 of the procedure to create bootcamp backup.  The message displayed on the screenshot under step 18 can be ignored.  It refers to creating a Windows partition using Boot Camp Assistant but in fact this partition has already been created in earlier steps using Disk Utility.
I bought Winclone 3.3 as it promises to make backup and restore of Bootcamp partition with Windows 7 on it really easy, the steps to do this task are easy and well documented, and the owner of the program was very prompt responding to my queries.
I performed the following as an insurance against disaster prior to creating Winclone image:
Since my Windows 7 came pre-installed but without any installation disk I used Windows 7 to create 'Windows 7 system image' . From what I read on forums the system image created using Windows 7 apparently can't be used to easily restore Boot Camp partition (as it wipes out OS X in the process).  I created this image as a last resort backup rescue - some users reported that it can be used to recover Windows but the process is painful and involve a number of steps, swapping hard drives, and paid software to assist in the process.  I did not bother to make notes on this process - thanks to Winclone I am not suppose to need this backup if everything works as promised
I also created 'Windows 7 repair disk' prior to running Winclone.  Not sure what the value of it will be but again, this is something I did just in case I need it in the future
Then I installed Winclone 3.3 and created Windows 7 Ultimate Boot Camp image without any problems (on MBP running Lion 10.7.4).  My Winclone image file of 150GB Windows 7 Boot Camp partition prior to installing any programs and without any data on it ended up being nearly 8GB (saved to the external USB HDD).
I have not restored and don't plan to restore the Winclone 3.3 image just to test if it works (don't want to risk loosing my perfectly well running Windows 7 in case of any disaster).  So ultimately only time or experience of other users will tell me if I spent my money well buying Winclone 3.3.  I  know it worked for you JBLTZ so hopefully it will work for me when I need it one day.
    Cheers
    Swavek

I am not able to install th HP PhotoSmart 5514 CQ176-80067 wirelessly (printer does not come with cable) on my HP Envy compuer with Windows 8. Two issues here - wireless (tried installing wireless wizard, cannot find) and software compatiblity with OS. Please advise - both are brand new and I do not want to have to return and purchase a new printer. Frustrated - both are HP products!

I figured it out and found another way to install the printer driver.

  • Windows 8 Factory Restore on the HP ENVY dv7 Notebook PC

I received this laptop from my friend and it had all of his information on it. Well, he did a system reset on it before giving it to me, but then used it again...pfff. Anyway, he advised me to do a factory reset on it. The directions said to go to change pc settings, general...etc, but when I chose that...clicking change pc settings didn't pull up another screen. It just went away (slid back to the right) leaving me nothing. So I saw somewhere else that said to type in recovery in the search and go from there. It opened the hp recovery system and I went from there, choosing the factory reset option.
So...it's running and stays for a long time on the "software is being installed" screen. Restarting periodically. It ended with it saying "restoration incomplete...the restoration did not complete"
it gave me the possible causes of yellow bang, some silent-install failure, found failed pininst_bbv and bbv2 and found memory dump file.
Three suggestions are checking regdev_bb, bbapps and memdump.
Then it says RegistryDevicesCheck result failed. Failed device #0. USB-IF xHCI USB host Controller. PNPDeviceID - ROOT/UOIP_BUS_DRIVER/0000
    Code 31
Everything passed until it gets to the end and it says Sysprep_succeed.tag does not exist
BBVLast.cmd - CTOError.flg is detected at the end of the BBV process...
Suggest to create PIN-log and send to TWN PDC NB-PreinPM for further analysis...
The startup sceen now shows internet explorer, the google store, file explorer and desktop. All the other million apps that were on there before aren't on there.
Thennnn...I tried clicking on the internet and it says that it can't log in using the built-in administrator account. Sign in with a different account and try again.
I am afraid to touch anything. Please help! Did I ruin this? I can't leave it because if it goes to the lock screen, it will show that the administrator account has been disabled.

    Hi byus,
For a failed factory restore, I would first suggest trying to recover your notebook using the HP System Recovery. I have included the document 'Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)'. Please follow through the steps for Recover your HP notebook computer.
If the above document fails to recover your notebook. I have included the document 'Troubleshooting HP System Recovery Problems (Windows 8)'. Please follow through the steps in order for the best results.
Please let me know if the above steps have been able to recover your notebook, thank you.
