CTR1_GATE pin defaults to output?

My goal is to count pulses connected to CTR1_SOURCE using the Frequency Measurement VI. I've noticed that when I connect the CTR0_OUT to CTR_GATE the CTR0_OUT goes high but the VI indicates a timeout condition. I believe this to mean that counter 1 did not see a trigger on its gate input which is strange because I certainly did.
I discovered in the manual for the PCI-MIO-E series that all of the pins such as PFIx/CTR1_GATE are all configured as outputs be default. God only knows why one would want the counter gate to default to to output pin. I have no idea how to instruct the CTR1_GATE pin to become an input connected internally to the counter's gate. I'm running Labview 5.1 and I don't have access to all the fancy CVI function ca
lls that reconfigure the signal routing. There are the AO* and AI* VI's but those only work on triggering analog stuff. There is no mention of ay other VI's being capable of fiddling with the routing.
Does anyone know how I can make the gate and source pins become inputs?

Page 4-41, PCI E Series Service Manual
Quote:
"Any PFI pin can externally input the GPCTR0_GATE signal, which is available as an output on the PFI9/GPCTR0_GATE pin... You can select any PFI pin as the source for GPCTR0_GATE and configure the polarity selection for either rising or falling edge... As an output, the GPCTR0_GATE signal reflects the actual gate signal connected to general-purpose counter 0. This is true even if the gate is being externally generated by another PFI. This output is set to tri-state at startup. "
This pin is certainly NOT input only. It may be tri-stated by default. I wish I knew how to select a PFI pin to be the GPCTR0_GATE from LabView.
I know how this frequency counter thing is supposed to work-it just doesn'
t. There isn't enough documentation on how to control the routing inside these boards from LV.

  • Is there a way to have Firefox respect the default audio output device when it has been changed while Firefox is open?

I have been a Firefox user for many years and I still use it as my primary browser. One problem that has bothered me for years is the fact that when Firefox is open and I change my default audio output device, Firefox doesn't respect that change and continues playing audio through the device that was originally being used. Even if you stop the audio and continue playing, the output device doesn't change.
Is there any way this can be configured in Firefox? Now if I listen to music online (e.g. Soundcloud) I always use Chrome since it's respects the default audio output device change even while in the middle of playing audio.
    Reproduce:
    1. Start playing audio (e.g. from a YouTube video; HTML5 and Flash are affected)
    2. Change your default audio output device
    3. Audio will continue to play from original output device
    Thanks!

This is the same issue that has plagued me for years. I always thought that this was a Flash plugin issue, but it does occur on HTML5 as well. A friend of mine verified that this does not occur in Linux, but only on Windows. It would be great to have this fixed, as it's honestly the only thing that's making me use Chrome all the time, as I don't want to have multiple browsers open.

  • How to set default sound output

How do I set the default sound output?  I'm outputting to a USB converter but Mavericks switches to internal speakers on its own with no warning, most times in the middle of a song. Doesn't matter whether I'm using iTunes or a 3rd party music playback app.

I too have the same setup as you and use my streamer with all of my Apple devices. I've found it necessary to turn off Bluetooth in the devices I don't want to connect to when they are all within range of one another. If you don't need Bluetooth on your Mac turn it off. I've also found that if I'm connected to my Mac and a call comes in to my iPhone that the phone will take priority.

  • Default audio output has switched

having only recently upgraded to tiger (yeah yeah i know i'm late) i have noticed that my internet browsers and also realplayer defaults to playing audio out of "built in audio" output and when i switch it back to my firewire 410 output it doesnt work.
is there some OS related pref that i need to alter to get my browsers to recognise my audio interface? i dont know for sure that it is moving to Tiger that has done this but it seems likely as it never did anything like that prior to the upgrade...
    any ideas?

thats the problem though, coz everytime i click it back to my firewire 410 in system prefs/sound/output i get no signal!
it only outputs from the default mac output, which means i either listen through that tiny speaker on the front, or have to run a mini jack out of that socket back into my desk.
the sound is awful though, really noisy and clipped. sounds like it was run through logics bitcrusher a couple of times..

  • Default Exel output using the BI Publisher

    Hi All,
I have got a requirement to generate the output in Excel (by default).
I have tried by changing the viewer option and profile settings as discussed in the forum earlier but Its not working for me.
Or is there any way to change the default printing output(SRS window - options - format - from PDF to Excel) programatically in the after report trigger.
    Thanks

  • Set default analog output in MAX

    Hi,
I would like to set a default value (e.g. 10V) to my analog output of my NI6251 card. The current value is (I assume) 0 V.
Is there a way to change the default value without using labview?
    Many thanks

I'm pretty sure you can't set the default analog output of a DAQ card to something other than 0V even using LabVIEW.  When the device powers up it will reset and set all outputs to an inert state which is a good thing for safety conserns.
I'd recommend you redesign your system so it too uses this standard of using the inert state of a startup condition.  What kind of system do you have that you want the off state to be 10V?

  • Default RFQ Output Type

    Dear experts,
We have two RFQ output types NEUA & NEUB with different function. NEUA is for email to the bidder & NEUB is for printing.
When we create & save the RFQ, it is defaulted with output type NEUA where system will automatically email to selected bidder. Now user want both email & printing when the created RFQ is saved.
How to default two output types for a RFQ created.
    Appreciate your help.

  • How do I set the default audio output for all users

Here's the story. I have a Mac Pro in a classroom that is connected to the audio system via the digital (Toslink) output. The systems are bound to AD and OD with some minor management being performed via MCX (printers, login, etc...)
When a new user authenticates to the system the output defaults to the internal speakers not the Digital Out.
My assumption was that I could configure default 0 key in the com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist to AppleHDAEngineOutput:1B,0,1,4:2, which is the digital output.
However it seems that new users are still generated with the Internal Speakers which is AppleHDAEngineOutput:1B,0,1,2:0.
Is there somewhere else that I can configure that default such that all users will default to the Digital Out, AppleHDAEngineOutput:1B,0,1,4:2? Or am I perhaps not configuring the SystemSettings plist correctly?
Most of these tasks were previously taken care of by another technician but he has left and I'm quickly trying to pickup the slack for configuration of our Macintosh environment.
    Thanks,

If you can figure out how to add the printer name, this can be used to lock the margins.

  • HT204388 how to make mac mini selecting hdmi (amp) for default audio output

I currently have to go in system preferences sound option output and select hdmi (my sound system amp) at every single startup. how can i get my mac to use it as default. thanks

    Long shot, but...
    Next time you start up...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • How to set PFI pins as input/output

    Hi...
I want to set PFIs as input/out but I don't know how to deal with it. I try to find the function but nothing can set in PFIs.
I want to trigger with PFI 1.
Thanks in advance for any kind help!!

    Hello jtanabe,
You are correct.  The example posted above in
Traditional DAQ is used to input a trigger signal to the card.  The PFI
pins allow you to route signals into and out of your card, they are not capable
of directly generating signals.  To generate a square wave you would use
either a counter or digital line.  A counter would allow you to generate a
square wave with a specific frequency and duty cycle, and a digital line would
allow you to do something similar depending on the card you have.  For
example with an E Series device you write a single value to a digital port at a
time, and therefore it is software timed.  The frequency you can update
the digital port/line will completely depend on your software and the speed of
    your system.
For more information on PFI lines please see a PFI
Knowledge Base found here.  If you are just starting out, or if you are
using an M Series Board I would recommend (if your hardware supports it) using
the DAQmx driver.  It is easier to create applications, and it allows you
to use the Data Acquisition Assistant Express VI if you are using LabVIEW.  There are examples that demonstrate how to generate square waves online and in NI Example Finder.  If you are using LabVIEW you can find examples by selecting Help >> Find Examples.  In the window that appears select Hardware Input and Output >> NI-DAQmx >> Generating Digital Pulses.

  • MOTU 828Mk3 & Logic Pro's default audio outputs

Hello people! Well, I received my MOTU 828Mk3 a couple of days ago and am very pleased with it so far, sonically much better than the Mk2 however I'm slightly frustrated with the default audio out in logic pro. The 828 is set-up fine with the default audio out set to master out, itunes etc all work fine but within logic pro the default output is analog 1-2, the master outputs are 9-10. So every-time I create a new project I have to select 9-10 as the output, I can live with that but if you drag any samples/loops into a project the output of the new track defaults to analog 1-2, bit of a pain. So my question is - Is there any way you can tell logic to use a default pair of outputs?
    Cheers
    Paul

You should be able to set the main outputs to be 1 and 2 in the MOTU setup app. I've done that with my 896mk3 and it works as expected. It just means that the outputs 1-8 on the unit are actually 3-10 in Logic.

  • Setting default audio output in itunes

When I open iTunes 7.0.1, it changes my audio output preferences to a USB headset I have plugged into my computer (and which I prefer to keep plugged in at all times for using Skype). Is there any way to make iTunes default to the regular line out, built in audio, without disconnecting my headset? Every time I open iTunes now, I have to reset the system audio preferences to line out.
    Thanks for any advice

  • Defaulting Sound Output ?

    2009 Mac Pro 10.6.8
Just recently my Mac pro defaults to the Internal speaker when I restart  or reboot, I have to go into Prefs to set it to Display Audio.
I have already tried deleting - com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist and  com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist and then re booting and re setting  the sound output, but on next restart/bootup it defaults back to the  Internal speaker.
Tried resetting the PRAM also, still defaults to the internal speaker.
    Also tried this :
    Delete Audio Folder
    sudo rm -r /Library/Preferences/Audio
    Recreated a new one:
    sudo mkdir /Library/Preferences/Audio
    Change the permissions:
    sudo chown -R _coreaudiod:admin /Library/Preferences/Audio
Then go back to the sound preference panel and set the audio to the one you prefer. This will recreate the settings file.
    Still defaults to internal speaker.
    And these :
    Repaired HD via Disk Utility
    Repaired Permissions
    Still defaults to internal speaker.

Problem solved and this may help others with this problem.
As a last resort I copied the Audio folder from another Mac I have running 10.6.8 onto my Mac Pro, it worked it solved the problem :)
Do not know if copying that folder from different OS would work.
    Hope this helps somebody.

  • PXI 6711: setting a default analogue output value

Is it possible to set a default voltage for the analogue output of the PXI 6711? I would like to have this default voltage every time I start up my PXI platform and every time there aren't LabView programs that controls those outputs.

    Hi,
Unfortunetely, the power on state for the analog outputs of the 6711 is 0V and you are not able to change that. You can make sure that the card is at a set voltage every time LV exits if you put in code that sets the voltage to a specific point every time LabVIEW exits. But, you will be at 0V until LV or another program sets the voltage to something different,
