Ctrl+alt delete in Windows XP. Where is Pause button?

How to do the ctrl+alt delete in Windows XP?
Where can I find the Pause button you see on regular keyboard?

Search the Discussion Board using "ctrlaltdel" as the string. There are a number of possible solutions posted, including key remappers and external keyboards. kierrep posted the following answer earlier this month, and the questioner gave the post a star:
Try "input remapper" instead:

this programm is amazing for windows on a mac!
-it enables the fn-keys (for display brightnes and volume)
-the right click is the second enter key on your key board
-fn-eject works like print screen
-for contorl-alt-delte: fn-ctrl-alt-backspace (of course: delete = fn-backspace)
Just an advice: if you have problems or questions about boot camp, try http://forum.onmac.net/

  • Tecra M5 - Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete splash screen appears while booting

Wondered if anyone has come across this before...
Tecra M5 boots up ok and arrives at the "Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete" splash screen... the "Help" button is permanently "selected" so as soon as I press CTRL and ALT the explanation (Help) screen comes up telling me what to do... and I can't get past that at all... I've tried attaching a USB keyboard with the same result. I need to somehow "clear" the Help button ....
    Any idea's gratefully received.

Problem solved... use the Alt GR key instead... worked first time !!

  • When I close firefox with ctrl-alt-delete, I want to start over on Firefox, I usually do this when too many tabs and windows are open. However, Firefox always restores the tabs and windows I previously had. How can I stop that from happening?

This happens when FireFox is not responding, and I want to close firefox with ctrl-alt-delete. Too many tabs can make Firefox crash. That is why I want to use ctrl-alt-delete to close FireFox. I tried finding a way to disable this, but I found no option to.

Ending the Firefox program or process with the Windows Task Manager "looks like" a crash. The proper way to exit Firefox is click Firefox button > Exit (or File > Exit, if using the Menu Bar).

Copy all the contents currently on your iPod Classic to your new iTunes library and then choose the Erase and Sync option. • Ctrl alt delete doesnt work anymore

    Hi,
We have an HP probook G0 where the combination ctrl alt delete doesnt work anymore.
    - The issue is only with the left ctrl Key. When we use the right ctrl key, ctrl alt delete works
    - When I check the onscreen keyboard in windows, the left ctrl key does react, so the key is'nt hardware defected.
With external keyboard everything works also fine.
Laptop has the latest HP updates.
Any ideas how to solve this issue?
    thx!

thx prob is solved just had to double-click on the window  , also performed a virus-scan, but no viruses were found, i do use pc-cilin 2002 (up to date) i hope it's sufficient, because norton is way much better, i know, but i just don't want to spend any money on a damn anti-virus prog...just used the one that came with my mobo

  • Firefox freezes about five seconds after I open it, and whenever I use Ctrl+alt+delete to close it I get told that it is waiting for a response from me.

I am having a problem with Firefox. Whenever I open it, it runs fine for about five seconds and then freezes. A small white rectangle appears in the upper left corner of the browser window. The screen still scrolls fine, but whenever I try clicking on anything (including the menus in the toolbar), it just gives me an unresponsive 'ding' sound. When I try closing the programme with Ctrl+alt+delete, I get a message saying 'The system cannot end this programme as it is waiting for a response from you'. I originally had this problem with an earlier version of Firefox and tried installing Firefox 4 to see if this helped. It worked for two days and began doing it again. I have already tried un- and re-installing Firefox and restarting my computer, and Firefox will not run properly for long enough to let me disable any add-ons or plug-ins. What can I do to fix this?
I've added a couple of screencaps of the problem. (or tried to)

  • BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl+alt+delete to restart.

    Hello there!
I'm having trouble since i formatted my t61's primary hard drive, after i did that i thought i could recover the operating system simply by using the recovery DVD's but for my surprise when i turned on the laptop to begin the recovery process this message appeared on a black screen BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl+alt+delete to restart... even tho i put the 1rst recovery disc in the DVD drive. After that i tried the 2nd one which is the operating system recovery DVD and still got the same message. What can i do?? I do have an old yet functional thinkpad HDD that came with the computer with vista, R&R and the lenovo preloaded softwares in it, i don't use it anymore because i replaced it with an HD with more GB which now is (was) my primary HD but I don't have the original windows vista DVD just have the 4 recovery DVD's, one thing I'm concerned of is that if i install windows vista again from an original vista DVD then i wont be able to have all the lenovo preloaded software (productivity center, rescue and recovery and all that). PLEASE help! Thank you in advanced.

    Welcome to the forums
If you have an original Vista DVD you can try to repair the bootmanager of your laptop.MIcrosoft has 4 resolutions for this try them

  • Ctrl Alt Delete

Some times the Computer freezes, but I can still use the mouse. I have tried wating for the processor to catch up but that does not seam to be the issue. When the freeze acures The Ctrl-Alt-Delete menue will not appear. The only thing I can do is hold down the power button for an unsafe shutdown. I have ran a virus scan and come up with nothing. What should I do when this problem acures. Could it be a problem with the OS? I am at a total loss. please help.

Try turning off your computer then restarting it with the little One Key button next to the power button. If some windows files are corrupt, they will be fixed by this. You just have to follow the instructions on screen.

  • MS-RDP to vDesktop - ctrl-alt-delete

This is cute, right ctrl-alt-delete doesn't work, insert-alt-delete (like vmware) doesnt work...the local (laptop or desktop) always responds.
How do you get the ctrl-alt-delete to be sent to a MS-RDP window to login to an virtual XP machine.
Does this normally work? What am I missing?
    sorry for the dumb question.
    ron

    OK, now what...
ctrl-alt-end works when you are sitting on a hardware computer, using MS-RDP to get to a VM. cltrl-alt-end gets the attention of the VM in MS-RDP.
So, then, once I login to the VM, I want to MS-RDP to another computer...how do I get the attention of that computer...
    ctrl-alt-delete - first machine
ctrl-alt-end - second machine from the first machine
???-???-??? - third machine from the second machine

  • HT201612 how to use ctrl+alt+delete to restart with boot camp

how to use (ctrl+alt+delete) to restart?

You press all the keys (ctrl+alt+delete) at once
    Some information
In a personal computer with the Windows operating system, Ctrl-Alt-Delete is the combination of keyboard keys that the computer user can press at the same time to terminate an application task or to reboot the operating system (have it shut down and restart itself). In Windows 95 or any later systems, Ctrl-Alt-Delete brings up a window that allows a user to see the status of all currently running programs and to terminate any of them, and also offers the options of shutting down, restarting, and so on (the specific options vary slightly with the particular version of windows). In Windows 95 or 98, if Ctrl-Alt-Delete is pressed a second time or twice in a row quickly, the operating system closes all programs that are running and then restarts.
When the operating system seems to hang suspended while waiting for an application program to continue, a user is also left without a way to regain control of the system. The Ctrl-Alt-Delete key combination allows the user to terminate the "hung" application and, if that doesn't work, to reboot the system. The system can also be restarted using the mouse to select Start-->Turn Off the System-->Restart. However, Ctrl-Alt-Delete sometimes works when the menu option doesn't.

  • Disable the CTRL+ALT+DELETE when log in xp T60

I have T60 and i just installed lenovo xp again, and every time i log in XP i need to press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, how i can get this uncomfortable think off?
I just want to sing by my fingerprint

You have to install the Thinkvantage Fingerprint Software, then configure it to act as the logn provider.
Remember, you can also set Single Sign On and enroll your prints then configure those speicifc fingers to allow BIOS logon and assuming you are starting thes ystesm ffom a cold boot,  use the finger at bios, sit back and watch it logon to windows
IF YOU ARE HI SEC MODE / POSSIBLY EVERY OTHER MODE TOO AND YOU JUST RESTART FROM ONE WINDOWS SESSION TO ANOTTHER W/O POWERING OFF.... SSO doesn't apply and you will have to swipe at Windows logon.
A TIP, if a Thinkpad is configured for BIOS logon and the ThinkVantage Fingerprint software is removed or the entire OS is reinstalled....you can still makeshift a SSO:
    1. Most likely, the thinkpad will preserve your BIOS biometric finerprint logon settings
    2. Avoid resintalling the Thinkvantage finter software and use tweakui to set the Windows Autologn function. Since you've successfully used your fignerprint to start the laptop, it is still as secure as it would be if you had Windows Thinkvantage Finger soft installed but your SSO is now Windows provided but the user experience is the same and just as fast.
Don't just sit there, take a second and use the Kudo's button to compliment the people who help you.
