Ctrl click to layer in a group?

Is there a hot key combo to ctrl click to layer that's inside a group..not jsut to the group itself.

With most tools, if you use Ctrl+Alt right click in the document on the
screen, that will select the layers instead of the groups.

Since Last CC Update Photoshop has lost the ability to CTRL click on layer within group??

Weird little glitch is happening since the latest update of CC. Can anyone else confirm that they are having this issue:
1. Create a group with a bunch of different layers
2. Select any tool (besides the direct selection tool)
3. Now press CTRL to try and select a layer and move it within the group.
You will notice that it moves the whole group and not just the selected layer...it does not select the layer. My Direct Selection Tool is set to "Layer" not "group"....so that is not the issue here.
This is annoying...does adobe know about this?

Okay, found the fix.
With the Move tool selected, go to the Options toolbar at the top (below file menu) and change the drop down menu to Layer instead of Group. Voila!

Ctrl-clicking layer name does not load layer opacity mask (CS2)

Q: Ctrl-clicking a layer name does not load the layers opacity as a selection in CS2 as it did in older versions?
A: You must ctrl-click the layer thumbnail, not the layer name, to select the opacity of the layer. Ctrl-clicking a layer name is now connected to the new way of selecting multiple layers in Photoshop CS2, as per the standard way of selecting multiple objects in the Win OS.

I tried the shift, ctrl & alt keys on start up of PS2 and received a msg fm windows Vista about the PS short cut. I said OK and nothing happened.
I started PS2 and then held the shift, ctrl & alt keys while it was starting. This seemed to reset some things because the original message that comes with PS came up. But the mask problem is still there.
I went further in your instructions and found the "reset all tools". Did that. Still have the problem with my mask not clearing totally.

Sqldev 4 EA: ctrl-click not working

ctrl-click for drilldown to objects form pl/sql code does not work.
I get an annoying message to put my object in a "Select * from" statement.
However this does not work either.

Select the Move tool and in the Options bar change the dropdown from Group to Layer, that should fix it

Layer selection in groups

I wanted to ask:
is there shortcut or special key combination to select layer on canvas when it's in group?
When I press ctrl + lmb on layer that is on canvas PS selects whole group but not that layer.

There is a shortcut for selecting layers that are inside of a group.
If you have a mouse with more than one button, select the Move Tool and right-click on the image area that is on the layer you want to select. If you are using a Mac and a one-button mouse, select the Move Tool and Ctrl-click. A popup menu will appear and you can select the layer you want very quickly.

Can't Ctrl+Click My Threads to open in new tab (Chrome)

Today I find that I can't Ctrl+Click "My Threads" or "My Forums Threads" or "My Profile" (any of those options in the Quick Access menu) to open it in a new window in Chrome. Right click and Open in new tab works
fine, but the Ctrl+Click doesn't work.
This is crippling. Must be fixed.

Personally, I do not use the navigation facilities of the forums. Rather, I have created browser bookmarks for individual forums, groups of forums, My Threads, My Profile, My Forums, My Settings... whatever. These will not be affected by the kind of issues
you mention.
Not to imply this is not a legitimate issue.

Help implementing mouse multi record select deselect with shift/ctrl click

Forms 10.1.2.3 on Solaris Sparc 64 bit
We are trying to implement mouse multi record select/deselect using shift and ctrl click. I have read that you need the appcore library to do this but because we aren't using Oracle Applications (EBS) we can't have the appcore library.
Has anyone implemented this function without the appcore library?

Why not just use a CheckBox to indicate the selected records? The downfall to almost all methods is that you end up looping through the block to see which records are selected. An alternative to this is to use a record group to record which the selected records. I created a nice little wrapper package to work with Record Groups (RG). Take a look at Forms - Record Group Processing (Duplicate Value Checking). As the name suggests, this example demonstrates how to use an RG to perform duplicate checking, but you can easily adapt the process to keep track of selected records. I use RG's for this all the time. By using the RG, it eliminates the need to LOOP through the datablock - which can be very time consuming. Instead, you loop through the RG and only navigate to the specific records you need too in order to process that record. Looping through the RG is much faster than looping through the block - especially if you have a lot of records displayed in your block.

Command-clicking a layer does not select it in the Layer panel

In earler version of PS, command clicking a layer in the artboard would select the layer in the layer pallet so it could be manipulated. This does not seem to be the case in CS6 (I'm getting the highest level group selected)

Command key brings up the move tool. And you have different settings for auto-select in CS6 than in your previous version.
Go check the settings for the move tool.

CS4: Cannot move a layer within a grouped layer set.

I have created a layer group in Photoshop CS4. When I select a specific layer within this group to try to move it, I immediatley get bumped back to the folder and the entire group moves-- in other words I can't move that specific layer alone (I have to move it back outside the group to move it.) I know that this was not the case in the past and wondered what the problem might be. None of the layers are locked. Thanks for any help.

Ctrl + click doesn't select ALL non-transparent pixels

Hello. How can I select ALL non-transparent pixels from a layer?
- Ctrl + click doesn't work (it seems to have a 50% tolerance - my opacity 7% and 40% pixels don't get selected);
- The magic wand tool with 0% tolerance does work (when I click on a transparent pixel it selects ALL opacity 0% pixels around it and then I just have to inverse selection), BUT my image has a lot of holes with transparent areas and selecting them one by one would be tedious.

I think it should. if your only going by the selection outline, then the selection outline only shows the pixels that are 50% or more selected.
In other words the pixels have varying degrees of transparency. If the selected pixel is not at least 50% opaque then the selection outline doesn't show them, but they are selected when ctrl clicking on a layer thumbnail.
After making the selection by ctrl clicking make a new layer and fill the selection with black and then turn off the visibilty of all the other layers.
You should get a better idea of what is happening.If you were to lock the transparency of the layer and fill with black you should get the same result.
If you use the magic wand at 0% tolerance then your not getting a true selection of the layer transparency, but rather making the partially transparent pixels fully opaque (selected).

Disabling CTRL+click Mapping to Right-click

How do I disable CTRL+click from acting as a right-click? I have a Picasa Web Album < <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://picasaweb.google.com > and in order to move groups of photos I need to use the CTRL key but everytime I use that it registers as a right-click. I've looked in the Keyboard Preference Pane but couldn't find any way to disable this behavior.

Bump. I have exactly the same issue. The fact that I can't disable the Ctrl-click-to-right-click mapping is driving me nuts!

Whatever happened to option click select layer?

Hi all.
I'm using Photoshop CS4 and wondered if there's a way to get the old "option click" to select a layer?
I noticed it's gone in this version, but is there another command I could use without having to go to Select>Load Selection?

It's such a time saver. I always copy complex selections to a new layer just to be able to reload them with ctrl click. It is also another thing that makes running dual monitors so handy, having the Paths palette always available to ctrl/command click.

How do I open multiple locations from the History after selecting them with Ctrl+click?

Let's say I want to read some of the Mother Jones and Alternet articles I'd linked to from e-mails over the past in two months. I open my Firefox history. I do a search of the history libary to get a list of all the relevant locations. Then I use Control+click to select the few articles I want to read. I'd think Ctrl+O would open all those selected, but it doesn't. There must be a more efficient way than what I'm doing now, which is to open a new tab in the browser window, go to history, double click one line, wait for the page to load; open a new tab, go back to the history search results, click on a new location, wait as it loads, repeat.

Also, if you have your Options > Tabs pref deselected for '''When I open a new tab, switch to it immediately''', it might be less distracting with all those pages opening in the background.

How can I force Firefox to override javascript when opening links with ctrl+click?

There are certain sites that always open up a link in the active window despite said links being opened by ctrl+clicking it. Basically what happens is that a java script on the site forces the active window to load the link while at the same time Firefox follows the ctrl+click command and loads it in a new tab. You end up with two tabs with the same information and always have to go back in your original tab to be able to open other links.
Usually you can open the link the way you want by right-clicking and selecting 'Open Link in New Tab' but for some reason ctrl+click is treated as if it was a regular click. How can I stop this from happening and force Firefox to ONLY load the new tab?
This problem is not specific to the version of Firefox I'm using or the operating system, but seems to be caused by java script on the site. Disabling java scripts makes the problem go away but sometimes it also disables the sites.

If you're trying to protect your browser from hackers, I'd recommend setting up a master password for your saved passwords. Other than that, your anti-virus and firewall are responsible for keeping your computer safe.
If you're trying to protect your browser from someone else (i.e. somebody who can physically use the computer) just lock your entire computer with a password. If someone else has to use it, you could try letting them use the guest account.
