i want to send command Ctrl +W using labview on serial port. how can i use it? When i am sending this command on hyperterminal it gives me responce

What is the syntax that the target device expects...e.g. ascii(Ctrl)ascii(+)ascii(W)<carraige return> . Some device expects hex equivalents. So first look out for how the target device accepts the values from COM port.
This can be obained from the manual. If it is not available use a serial spy (HDD serial spy is best-its freeware) to determine how the hyperterminal communicates with the target device and then frame your command.

After installing Mavericks on my macbook pro I now have issues when I use shift ctrl command 4. When pasting the image into an email it is very large and I am unable to edit it. It used to copy in much smaller.

How can I remove Ctrl commands?

I was wondering if there was a way to remove the Ctrl commands from my MacBook Pro. Right now if I press Ctrl and one of the arrow keys, it will do something I don't want it to. For example, If I press Ctrl+Left Arrow or Ctrl+Right Arrow, it will switch between my Desktops and Dashboard. I don't want this to happen because when I play a game that requires the Ctrl key, it interferes with what I'm doing. No, I do not want to change the action of the Ctrl key in the game. I want to remove these actions that the Ctrl key does on my Mac. Thanks!

Go into Keyboard system preferences, click the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, and kill any shortcut that has the Control symbol on it, which looks like this: ^
The shortcuts for moving to left and right spaces are under Mission Control.

Screen capture error, using "ctrl command shift 4"

when I captured the screen using "ctrl command shift 4", the captured picture is cracked. but when using "command shift 4", the captured picture is fine.

Does "CTRL+COMMAND (apple)+ D" work in Firefox?

I love the browser dictionary shortcut (CTRL+Command [apple]+D) and would like to use the native built dictionary in Firefox. I noticed that it only works on the first word of the web page.
Has anyone discovered a way / plugin to get this awesome feature to work in Firefox? Thanks in advance.

Dont think the OS dictionary will work the same in firefox as it does in safari, how ever there's a add-on for firefox from google "Google Dictionary and Google Translate", different, but a dictionary at the end

Any way to send CTRL commands to external visualization software?

I recently purchased G-Force for iTunes on Windows (www.soundspectrum.com), and found out after I purchased it that iTunes doesn't send CTRL commands to visualizations, so essentially I can't do any cool stuff with this software I just bought. Is there any way around this?

The only thing soundspectrum says about it is: "Note: iTunes for Windows doesn’t pass CTRL keystrokes or mouse clicks to plugins, so G-Force control is limited." Can't find anything on Google, which is why I'm here.

CTRL+H and CTRL+B have stopped working for Firefox. Every other CTRL command works. What's wrong and how do I fix it?

Whenever I want to open my history (CTRL+H) or my bookmarks (CTRL+B), I use those commands. They've always worked. Yesterday, they mysteriously stopped working. Every other CTRL+KEY command still works flawlessly.
I haven't done anything out of the ordinary in the past few days, and I've already tried to restart my computer. What could be the cause of this?

Is Dictionary shortcut Command-Ctrl-D a system wide thing?

I had assumed the Command-Ctrl-D for Dictionary.app is a system wide short cut
It works fine with Safari
But I found it doesnt work in side of a firefox webpage. Pressing the combination doesnt bring up the expected floating dictionary window. Or the floating windows does not appear where appropriate (ie. where the mouse cursor is hovering at)
Anyone has a solution?

I've had better luck setting up ctrl-command-d as a service. Same Keyboard Shortcuts preference panel, but pick Services instead of Application Shortcuts from the left menu. Easiest to access it via any apps's Services submenu. Scroll down in the list on the right for the Searching section, and double-click on the shortcut (or empty space) to the right of "Look Up in Dictionary", then enter your shortcut.
If it's going to work in a given app, the new shortcut will appear to the right of the Dictionary command in the app's Services menu. No shortcut; no workies.
Haven't tested it with many apps, but in the ones I use I tried command-D and it didn't work in them all; had to use ctrl-command-d (even in Pages, which has nothing else occupying the command-d shortcut).
Apple should cleanup their messy shortcuts functions and UI. Alas, it's probably a lost cause since there aren't standards for shortcuts among apps. In fact, don't get me started on the hopelessly antiquated keyboard input device...

Why does ctrl + "button" stops working?

Hello peeps,
I'm having some trouble using ctrl + "any button" in illustrator CS6 (v. 16.0.2 64-bit) with windows 7. I'm not sure how or why it stops working but I usually go on with my normal job and all of a sudden ctrl-commands stops working. (I will try to look into exactly when it happens and get back to here) I can't use ctrl+c, ctrl+v or even ctrl+n for a new document. Alt-commands such as alt+drag and drop with left mouse button to copy still works. I try to reboot illustrator but it's the same thing, ctrl-button doesn't work. I
All ctrl-commands (and just the ctrl-button in general) works well in windows and in my browser (firefox).
Things I've tried but with no success...
- Re-plugging my keyboard
- Looked over settings for short commands (they're set to standard)
- Reboot illustrator
- Killed illustrator.exe through "ctrl+alt+del"
Things I've tried with success...
- Restarting the computer makes ctrl-button work again
However, if I open a saved document (pdf or ai) ctrl-commands all of a sudden works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! /Fredrik

My ctrl button doesn't work with other keys

Hello: I am unable to use the ctrl+t (open new tab), ctrl+c or ctrl+v (copy/paste) among other ctrl commands while using firefox. I know that the ctrl key itself is not broken as I am able to use the ctrl+backspace and ctrl+forward (return to last page viewed) functions.
Many of the help sites I've seen focus on uninstalling the ask.com toolbar. I uninstalled ask.com toolbar once, and the ctrl key started working again. The problem came back within a week, however, and ask.com is not a factor anymore as it has already been uninstalled. What else can I do to fix this problem? Any advice would be appreciated.
I have already tried restarting firefox in safe mode, and this did not solve the problem.

Change brush size and hardness with CTRL-OPT-DRAG

It may seem like an odd question, but I just can't use the shortcut to change size and the hardness of the brush in CS5 : Ctrl-Opt-drag
I work on a MacBook Pro with a magic mouse. As soon as I click on CTRL, at the tip of the pointer, a small box appears (the icon of a menu) and then if I click, the small brush menu opens.
I work on a french keyboard and I don't know how to get to change this shortcut since I'm not looking to reassign a key but an 'action'.
I've reset all the shortcuts to original settings in the keyboard Preferences.
Oh, and yes, I did select the OpenGL option.
It sounds really easy but it's driving me crazy !!!
If anyone has an answer, that would really help !

Ruedis, thanks for your input, but on a Mac, a Ctrl+Click is the same as a windows Right click (and one can Right Click with a mouse on a Mac), the Option key is the equivalent to the Windows Alt key (on my UK keyboard, it is also ALT that is written on the key. The Windows CTRL key is called Command on a Mac.
So, on a Mac forum, saying CTRL-OPT-DRAG equals to saying ALT+Right Click on a PC one.

Skype blocks keyboard shortcut ctrl+cmd+alt+arrow up

I don't recall what the CTRL-COMMAND-DownArrow shortcut did, but have you tried just using COMMAND-DownArrow or CTRL-DownArrow depending upon what you want? Also see Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts.

When I login to yahoo mail it flashes and will not completely connect?

I may have somehow disabled my ability to connect to mail in my tools area. I can get to my yahoo, but when I sign in to look at mail it is blank and flashes the connect and looks like its trying to load every piece of info on the tab area?

You may have zoomed the page(s) by accident. Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

Pages '08 Dictionary Error

When ever in Pages '08 I have noticed that when I use the Dictionary shortcut (Ctrl + Command + D) most times the little pop-up window would not hover over the word as expected. Instead it will be near the top of the current page out of view making the user unable to read the definition.
Is this a known problem or just with me? I have the latest version of Pages '08.

Welcome to Apple discussions.
I'm not having this problem, and I haven't seen any other reports of it. You might try going in to your System Prefences and switching the screen resolution. See if that helps. You can always switch it back.
