CTRL+Q Does respect browser.WarnOnQuit

Hi!
I hate pressing CTRL+Q accidentally, and looking at the forums someone suggested to set the variable browser.warnOnQuit to true, I have it already in true, but pressing CTRL+Q closes firefox without warning.
I'm using firefox 31.0 for Ubuntu Cannonical (the one that ships in Ubuntu GNOME 14.04)
What should I do to disable CTRL+Q ? It should respect my browsers' setting of warning on quit, right?
Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for your answer :)
I'm aware of the extension, but what I am complaining about is the flag not being respected. It is cool that there's a solution using an extension, but that shouldn't be necessary.
Should I report a bug?
Best,

  • Can I stop a (ctrl +n) from a browser

I have a problem with my webapp.I need

Can I use for this a javascript function?
Does anyone know how I can solve it?

Not really a Java question but, if it helps:
In your BODY tag, add ONKEYDOWN="javascript:return keyDown();" and add a JavaScript (see, not Java ;P) function that checks for the value of the key pressed and returns false if you want it ignored:<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="javascript">
    function keyDown(){
      return event.keyCode != 14;  // \n = ASCII 14

  • Firefox 6 doesn't ask me to save a session with mutiple tabs even that I've checked the * browser.tabs.warnOnClose, * browser.warnOnQuit and * browser.warnOnRestart. Thanks in advance

even that I've checked the options:
    * browser.tabs.warnOnClose,
    * browser.warnOnQuit.
They all are set to true.
    Thanks in advance

The option mentioned in the reply appears available but doesn't restored the session I needed at all. Now, I tried to close this session and Firefox warned me, just the way it used to. :|
Why it seems to be working normally again? Are there any options I should de/activate not to occur this once again. Some of the tabs I've lost ain't even in the browser history... Yes, I have to start using bookmarks.
    Thanks a lot

  • Oracle SQL Developer does not browse Sybase's objects

I had installed and configured jtds-1.2.5.jar in Oracle SQL Developer for Sysbase connection. Oracle SQL Developer does not browse any objects. Why? Can you please provide a solution?

    Hi,
Can you provide some more information into what you are experiencing.
What version of SQL Developer are you using?
Did you install the jtds jar under the
Tools > Preferences > Database > Third Party JDBC Driver
Is the Sybase tab available in the new connection dialog?
Did you select the default database in the connection dialog?
Can you run a query against the Sybase database from the SQL Developer worksheet?
Note that JTDS 1.2 is the only supported version. There maybe issues with other versions.

  • Ctrl+Z does not work in Forms 11g on Windows (undo function)

In Oracle Forms 11g on Windows, the undo function, ctrl+Z does not work as it did in Forms 6i.
    The ctrl+C and ctrl+V (copy/paste) work fine.
I looked into the Forms key mapping resource file and no solution there.
    Thanks

I'm not sure what functionality you believe you had previously, but UNDO does not have any automatic functionality built-in. This is clearly explained in the Builder Online Help. Here is some of that text. Notice carefully what it says about "Undo":
    <blockquote>Magic Item Property
    <blockquote>Description_
Specifies one of the the following predefined menu items for custom menus: Cut, Copy, Paste, Clear, Undo, About, Help, Quit, or Window. Magic menu items are automatically displayed in the native style for the platform on which the form is being executed, with the appropriate accelerator key assigned. Cut, Copy, Paste, Clear, Window, and Quit have Built-in functionality supplied by Oracle Forms, while the other magic menu items can have commands associated with them.
    Usage Notes_
The following settings are valid for this property:
    Cut, Copy, Paste, Clear
These items perform the usual text-manipulation operations. Oracle Forms supplies their functionality, so the designer may not enter a command for these items.
    Undo, About
These items have no native functionality_, so the designer must enter a command for these items. Any type of command can be used for these items, except Menu.

  • What does IE browser do when the slug value in the request header has special characters?

For example if the slug header has special characters while posting the http request (say "äøéëåæ")

this is driving me nuts. It stops and then starts up again after a few seconds and then stops again and re-starts.

    Hi Kathryn ...
Most YouTube content requires the Flash plugin... try troubleshooting.
Quit Safari and Firefox if they are open.
Now uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Use Safari to test. Launch Safari From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed in Safari > Preferences - Extensions, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari to test.

    Hi julianrpoma,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear what you mean when you say you cannot access it, and/or how a new iPhone was set up with an old account. If your Apple ID/iCloud account is now different, you may want to try changing the iCloud settings, as well as any other Apple ID settings, as outlined in the following article (apologies if that is what you are currently doing):
    iCloud
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.
Apple ID: What to do after you change your Apple ID - Apple Support
If you are still having issues, as this is a new iPhone you may want to try restoring it to factory settings and setting it up as new, including your correct updated account information:

  • Why does every browser run slow when I am doing something moderately hardware intensive in the background?

I have looked but I don't even really know what to call this. But I can reproduce it everytime without fail and I don't understand.
    Steps to Reporduce
Load up Safari (or chrome, whatever it doesn't matter, those two browsers have the excat same problem)
Do some browsing. Not much just check your email or something (doesn't matter what you do)
Run a application that uses some CPU. (Go play a game, or run handbreak, open parallells, anything that causes a bit of load)
Go back to the browser and try to browse. Everything is dog slow and unsuable.
Exit the application (just showing that the app was running while slow browsing)
Browse sites at normal speed again
    Intresting facts
I have been dealing with this for a while. So I have discovered a few things before posting here
There is plenty of free RAM both Inactive and Unused in Activity monitor is over 1G (I have 8G total)
There is plenty of CPU "room". Nither core is anywhere near 100%
The goal is under moderate load, so overloading the computer and trying is not what is happening.
    nice-ing proccesses has no effect
I notice it most when running games, but it happens at other times too, games are just one of the few things that put any load on this mac.
Other programs work fine. I have never noticed anyother program running slow ever when this is occuring. This includes programs that include the webkit controll, oddly. Though, to be fair, that may not be accurate as I don't experance that as often.
I have verified disk (everything is fine)
I have verified permissions (and repaired them, everything is fine)
Disk and permissions don't seem to have any effect.
Network traffic does not seem slow, I can transfer files at the same rate when the browsers are slow, or when theyre runnning fine.
There is no odd hardware plugged in. I have 1 external USB disk that is always plugged in for timemachine and thats it (thoughI have unplugged that with no effect, and I have added other hardware with no effect)
The websites/pages/browsers seem to run at a normal speed if you don't have them as the active window. Really hard to say if it's just perception cause I am not watching them, or if there is an actuall effect.
The site being browsed doesn't seem to matter. Any site regaurdless of complexity seems to be effected. It could be Javascript related though that is really hard to tell, but browsing sites without any javascript or even from the local hardrive (test pages with no JS) still take a very long time to load.
Average page load time is 15-30 seconds during which the whole browser is unresponcive.
I am mostly talking about safari here as that is what I would really like to use, but chrome has basically the same effect. For this question I am sticking with fixing safari though.
    What I am looking for:
    A fix would be nice
But I would settle for an explaniation that I can accept.
I am running a MBP 17" with 8 gigs of ram and the 2.53 GHZ i5 processor. I am fully up to date with both Lion and Safari.

Also would like to say DNS resolution is not the problem. I do not use my ISPs DNS servers. I use Google's public DNS servers and a in house caching DNS. DNS resolution is fine, outside the browser and the pages are getting "stuck" while loading not while transfering, or resolving.

  • Does the Browser cach the jnlp-file?

I have a problem, I think with the browser's caching. As I modify the *.jnlp-File, the old version is loaded, not the new one!
Or is the old version cached by the webStart-Caching-Mechanism?
To update the jnlp-file, sometimes it is helpful to clear the Clients webStart cache.
    Is that correct?
    regards,
    ulli

The browser does in fact cache the jnlp and it can be a real problem. If there is no expiration on the JNLP then the browser may load it from cache instead of going to your web server on the next access. This means you may have modified your JNLP on the server for a new release, but users can start your application WITHOUT GETTING THE LATEST JNLP!
You can solve this problem by serving the JNLP file from your own servlet (or other HTTP serving technique) and setting the expire header. Setting it to 0 does the right thing.
Do NOT however, set "Pragma", "no-cache". no-cache stops the browser from writing the JNLP to the file system...this in turn causes a problem when Web Start tries to find the jnlp file after the browser starts Web Start....the jnlp file is not there.
Note that the JnlpDowloadServlet provided by Sun in the Web Start developers kit does NOT expire the JNLP file...you must fix this code yourself if you want it to work correcly. Sun was supposed to make this source code available but I can't find it anywhere. We used a de-compiler to de-compile the code, fix it and re-jar it.

I was trying to update my application from Labview 5.1.1 to Labview 6.0, I could not be able to use the DataSocket Vis. Then I opened the example "Browse to OPC item.vi" in Communication examples in Labview 6.0, the Vi was not able to browse the OPC servers on the network. Yurong,
In the documentation for the Browse To OPC Item.vi, it is stated that it uses DataSsocket VIs shipped with versions of LabVIEW prior to version 6i. These VIs are provided with LabVIEW 6i for compatibility. The DataSocket primitives shipped with LabVIEW 6i are not currently fully compatible with OPC. When using DataSocket to connect to OPC Servers, use the older compatibility DataSocket VIs.
I was able to run this VI and browse to opc://localhost/National Instruments.OPCDemo/SINE:0.0..8.0:2.0
and didn't have any errors accessing NI OPC Demo server.

  • What, exactly, does Private Browsing do?

I realize it what is listed in the box that opens when I turn the feature on, but what does it actually do?
Here is why I ask: I have never bothered with it on my desktop mac since no one else has access to it. Today when I upgraded to beta 4.0, there were all my most visited sites as favorite websites on the welcome screen.
But I also have a notebook I take on the road and I have always turned on Private Browsing on that machine. When I upgraded Safari on that machine there were all the sites I had visited (different from those on my home machine) despite the fact that I always turned on Private Browsing when I launched Safari. There should be no sites listed because there should be no history and I have no bookmarks on that notebook. So obviously, some kind of search history is saved despite the fact it isn't shown under History. Obviously it is saved for months. Obviously, there is really nothing private about it. If this data had actually been sensitive, then anyone with access to my computer could have checked it by launching Safari; it would have been on the splash page.
Yes, I am aware that I can just clear these favorite sites, but the fact that they even appeared as favorite sites means the Private Browsing feature isn't really doing what it says.

    Antidjinn,
I would check your bookmarks as top site pulls from there as well. Also If you added any third party search things it could be saving a search history that you might be unaware of. Example is inquistor. As far as I know Private browsing doesn't keep any browsing/search history. Although there is a cache file that you might want to delete.
More on that listed below, gathered from here: http://www.maclife.com/article/feature/50things_every_mac_geek_shouldknow?page=0%2C2
It looks like a bunch of gobbledygook to normal people, but your IT dude could find some dirty laundry lurking here, unless you purge Safari’s cache in the Terminal.
If you think that checking Private Browsing in Safari’s preferences actually keeps the websites you visit private, think again. Anyone--your boss or IT guy included--can see exactly where you’re surfing by executing the following Terminal command: dscacheutil -cachedump -entries Host
To purge Safari’s cache for real, execute this Terminal command: dscacheutil -flushcache
    Hope that helps,
    Weston
