Ctrl + Scroll to zoom issues

The ctrl + Scroll to zoom function is no longer working since I upgraded to Mavericks (21.5" late 2011 iMac)
Anybody else experiencing problems or know if this will be a bug that's likely to be fixed? I used to use it a lot and it's driving me crazy not having this feature!
Thanks.

  • How do I Enable Scroll Wheel Zooming in Fireworks?

I just bought a new mouse and now "ctrl + scroll wheel" zoom no longer works. The scroll wheel works but as soon as I hold down ctrl then the scroll wheel seems to do nothing - in Fireworks... in Internet Explorer and Chrome it will zoom as expected. I can't find anything in windows settings and Fireworks preferences does not have any settings that I could find. Since it works in other applications I would safely assume the issue is with Fireworks...

GIF is just an end format, something you export to. Many
    applications
will export animations to GIF. The real issue here is finding
    an app
that can revolve an object in 3D space. You haven't told us
    what kind of
object you want to revolve. If there's an example you could
    point us to
we may be able to help more.
Again, if you want to create more realistic 3D animations
    with precise
control over lighting, cameras, 3D modeling and more, try out
    Swift 3D.
It's not exactly cheap but is a lot less expensive than high
    end 3D apps
and has a lot of the same features. It exports to GIF among
    many other
    formats.
    http://www.erain.com/
But it sounds to me like you want something simpler and Xara
    3D which
someone else recommended would probably fit the bill for you
    and be less
expensive. I had tried it but that was years ago so I don't
    know how
well it works now but for quick and dirty 3D web animations
    it should do
    nicely.
    http://www.xara.com/products/xara3d/
Both Swift3D and Xara 3D export to GIF amongst many other
    formats.
Swift3D's exporter is a lot more sophisticated and powerful
    though. It
actually has 2, one for vector output and one for
    raster/bitmap output
(like a GIF animation). Give both apps a try. Start with Xara
    and check
out Swift 3D only if Xara doesn't do what you need.

  • How to zoom (equal to ctrl+scroll) while playing a presentation?

I've searched but it seems everyone wants to zoom or magnify to edit. I however am wanting to zoom in or magnify certain parts of my presentation while I'm actually playing the presentation so that people sitting in the back of the conference room can see a specific detail. The ctrl+scroll option in osx is exactly what I need, but when in presentation mode in keynote, that pulls up a menu of my slides and starts scrolling through them. Is there some equivalent that I can use here?
The things I need to zoom in on are different every time I present based on specific questions crowd members ask, so I can't just build additional/enlarged images into my presentation. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Welcome to the forums!
To do what you want, you need to first go into the Keynote Preferences, under Slideshow, and check the option "Allow Expose, Dashboard, and others to use screen". Once this is done, you should now see Control-Scroll working as you expect.
Note that there are other possible options as well, specifically, apps that allow you to magnify portions of the screen. One is OmniDazzle, which is a somewhat silly app that has as one of its features the ability to magnify a selected portion of the screen. You should be able to find other apps with similar functionality.

  • Cannot disable zoom associated with Ctrl+Scroll Up/Down

No matter what I try, my Mac always zooms the screen in/out when I use Ctrl+Scroll Up/Down on my mouse.
Universal Access states that Zoom is turned off yet the machine continues to zoom. I've tried toggling the Universal Access zoom on/off but it does not seem to have any impact. My Ctrl+Scroll Up/Down always zooms.
How do I disable this once and for all?

-->Sys Preferences-->Trackpad  uncheck    ☑screen zoom (or set options that work for you.)

  • [SOLVED] Chromium zooming issue

I've been experiencing a very annoying "feature" of chromium lately - unintentional zooming of web pages.
    How to reproduce:
Scroll (with mouse etc) a web page in chromium
    Stop scrolling
    Open a new tab
Probably this all boils down to the introduction of <ctrl>+<scroll> zooming in chromium, as I experience similar behavior in firefox. However, I don't think zooming should occur because when I press ctrl to open a new tab, I have let go of the scrolling. Is there a workaround for this issue (including how to completely disable zooming in chromium)?

  • Imac intel self scrolling and zooming

    Hi Guys,
<Sorry for my English, It's not my native language>
In the last couple days I found that my iMac is randomly scroll  to the bottom of page
in finder, chrome, safari, photoshop and every application
Today it just getting worse becaust it started to zoom in and out
Then, a few hours ago it started to scroll and zoom at the same time
I've look around the discussion forum and found some thread abou this issue
    but there seem no solution.
my system is iMac intel 27inch
    osx 10.6.8 installed
    magic mouse + wacom bamboo
I'm quite sure that the problem is from the OS  becaust I tried remove the wacom, keyboard and magic mouse
    but it didn't help.
    Please anyone could help??
    Thanks in advance!!

THat behavior sounds like it could be caused by a stuck key on the keyboard.
If the icon that is selected autonomously is the same one each time, then the first letter of its name may be a clue. If it is something other than the alphanumerical last first-letter of names of items on the desktop, then its first letter is probably the stuck key.
If its name's first letter is the last alphanumerically, then it gets trickier to find. For example, the last filename alphanumerically on my desktop starts with the letter T which means that if I press and hold T, U, V, W, X, Y, or Z it will be selected.
One way to test whether the cause is a stuck key - disconnect the keyboard (unplug it if USB, turn it off if wireless) and wait.

  • BUG: Alt+Scroll to Zoom with 4K Monitor on Windows

Windows 8.1 users with 4K monitors and have Windows' upscaling enabled, please let me know if you can reproduce in the comments! If you have a Mac, you can try to reproduce too, to see if it's just a Windows thing.
I recently setup a 28" 4K monitor for my Windows machine, and upgraded to Windows 8.1, because it has better independent monitor scaling. I also still have a 1920x1080 monitor. (I don't recommend this setup and Windows 8.1 doesn't handle it well. But that's another story)
Premiere Pro is up to date: 2014.2 Release: v8.1, Caravan
By default, Windows has this slider set to the middle recommended setting:
This upscales almost everything seen in Windows, including Premiere Pro's interface.
There's one problem: While hovering over my Timeline, holding down the Alt key and scrolling my mouse wheel doesn't zoom in as it should. It zooms, but the location it zooms into is incorrect.
Here's how Alt+scrolling to zoom usually works:
    - wherever your cursor is located is where you zoom in to. If your cursor is hovering over the CTI, you'll zoom in with the CTI centered. If your cursor is at the 2 minute mark, when you alt-scroll to zoom in, the 2 minute mark will be centered in the timeline.
With Windows 8 scaling turned on, the math that drives Alt+scrolling's centering algorithm is totally thrown off! It's hard to describe in words, so here's a graphic that shows exactly what happens when I place my cursor over the red spots and try alt+scrolling:
If the software was working as intended, the red & yellow arrows would overlap eachother, because your zooming should be centered right where the cursor is.
It's driving me crazy, as I rely on the Alt+Scroll method to zoom. Zoom Tool and the +/- keys aren't granular enough; and resizing the horizontal scrollbar is a newer addition to Premiere that I haven't needed to use just yet, as alt+scroll was working fine for me until upgrading to 4K.
Now, I did consider that my second 1080p monitor might have added to the math problems as it has a different amount of scaling applied to it, but I completely disabled the second monitor and ran tests and had the same bug, so the chance of my second monitor having any affect on this bug is incredibly slim.
    Obviously there are workarounds:
Turn of the Windows DPI scaling. Fixes the problem instantly, but everything is really tiny on the screen, and isn't really recommended
Don't use the Alt+Scroll method to zoom.
I'm assuming this is only a Windows bug, but if someone wants to test this out on a Mac with a Retina display, that would be helpful!
Can anyone else reproduce this bug? If so, can we all file bug reports to make sure the message gets across? I've heard from Mark that that's the best way to make sure the Premiere team takes an issue seriously. If a bug is only reported by a single user, there's a chance that very few users are encountering the issue, and they won't prioritize a fix.

    Hi Tim,
If it's not recommended to use the software when DPI scaling is enabled, it would be nice if the software would give you a one-time warning, letting you know that Premiere Pro hasn't been fully optimized to work properly when scaling is enabled.
Not a bad idea. Would you mind filing a bug report? http://adobe.ly/ReportBug
So, I just installed Premiere Pro the day of this post on a brand new machine. If Caravan isn't the current version, why is Creative Cloud still telling me I'm up to date? I've restarted my computer a few times... the the CC app should know what's apps are up to date and which aren't, correct? Or is it just a mistake that "Caravan" is shown in the about info?
This drives me a little crazy. I will bring this up with my colleagues. The actual version number is at the bottom of the "About Premiere Pro" screen. Because it says 8.1 at the top of the screen is confusing customers.
Another bug at higher DPIs that I noticed after posting this... plugins are cropped wrong. Here's what it looks like if I use a Dynamics effect:
It's annoying, but this one has an easy workaround... just resize the window to way bigger than it should need to be. Sure, the bypass button and presets are partially covered, but it's still usable.
It would be great to get a bug report about that, as well. Thanks!
    So yeah, in conclusion:
It would be great if you could let your customers know up-front in the software that Premiere Pro isn't fully ready for Windows' hardware scaling. Photoshop has a HiDPI setting, but the dev team rightfully tucked it away in an experimental features section.
besides these bugs, the software seems to work as intended, so you guys are almost there, thankfully!
Thanks so much for reporting back.
    Regards,
    Kevin

  • Alt+scroll, ctrl+scroll, scroll

What happened with ALT+scroll = zoom, CTRL+scroll = horizontal scrolling and scroll = vertical scrolling?
It's very bad. Please, return this functions on Ps, because now Ps is worst then CS6

Which operating system are you using?
Which version of photoshop are you using?
Look in your photoshop (Edit)>Preferences>General and see if you have Zoom with Scroll Wheel checked
(you want it unchecked if you want those shortcuts you listed to work)

  • Alt + Scroll for zoom problem with Photoshop CS3

    Running Adobe Photoshop CS3
Windows XP Pro Version 2002 Service Pack 3
When I check the "Zoom with Scroll Wheel" box in Preferences > General:
-using zoom tool, scroll wheel will zoom out to the smallest size, but will only zoom in until image is slightly larger than the file window then slides the image left and right or up and down depending on size of file window. When image is slightly larger than the file window, zoom out doesn't work anymore
-using Alt + Scroll does nothing
-Ctrl + Scroll zooms image the way Alt + Scroll should
When I UNcheck the "Zoom with Scroll Wheel" box in Preferences > General:
-using Alt + Scroll scroll wheel will zoom out to the smallest size, but will only zoom in until image is slightly larger than the file window then will neither zoom in or out anymore
-using Ctrl + Scroll slides the image left and right
In either preference setting, using ALT key causes letters for menus in the tool bar to be underlined

  • How to switch off scroll and zoom functions of touchpad on Satellite L

    Hi.
Can anyone tell me how to switch off the scroll and zoom functions for the Synaptics Touchpad v7.2 .
Can't seem to do it via the Control Panel.
    Any suggestions.

    Hi buddy,
    > Can't seem to do it via the Control Panel.
You can only disable the virtual scrolling function if the touchpad driver is installed properly. The driver provides extended functions and allows you to disable/enable special features. If you dont have installed the touchpad driver download it on official Toshiba page:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Then navigate to control panel as the previous user wrote for disabling the scroll function.
    Can you find it now?

  • 'Alt + Scroll wheel' zoom function lacking in Muse

Hi all! While Muse is a very intuitive program to get to grips with, one feature that I see lacking is the ability to use the 'Alt +Scroll wheel' zoom command. I use this in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator and I am a little confused as to why it is not in Muse. I would LOVE to see this implemented. As would many of my freinds and co-workers. Is there a reason it is not available? Arrivederci!

    Hi Paul,
I'm not quite sure what Bozhinov was meaning, but what I was saying is that the funcionality of holding the Alt key down whilst using the mouse scrollwheel to zoom would be an extremely useful feature in Muse. The same feature you have in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, for instance.

  • Bring back Alt-Scroll-Wheel zoom

PS's alt-scroll-wheel zoom shortcut is just too useful to leave out
    of LR.

  • Any way to reverse scroll wheel zoom?

I love the option+scroll wheel zoom in the After Effects timeline and was always annoyed that many of the Apple Pro apps didn't support this. Recently switched over to Premiere, and glad to see the scroll wheel works in the timeline as well. However, it's reversed! In AE, when you scroll forward, you zoom IN... in Premiere, you zoom OUT.
Any option somewhere that allows you to invert this? I keep getting all messed up as I go back and forth between the apps.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

Stephen, I so agree with this.
In Audition and FCP it works the correct way too. Pr Pro just feels all wrong and it's doing my head in.
The software is great to use, but the zoom is incredibly confusing, considering all the other applications I've used in the past all work correctly.
I can only hope that they don't start changing things like Apple did with the reversing of the track pad in Lion. bad move there in my books (just one reason why I don't need to upgrade).
    Cheers,
    Steve
