CUAC multisite deployment possible?

Hello,
I was reading the CUAC design guide and I'm a bit confused about the possibility of implementing a multisite deployment.
We currently have a CUCM cluster over the WAN (servers on sites A and B) and we have a CUACE on site A.
We would like to implement a second CUACE on site B and we would like to confirm if a completely new server would be possible, I mean, we would create a new virtual machine with a new license and a whole new integration. Both CUACE would be independent from each other.
Is it possible or do we need to implement a centralized deployment with remote operators?
Regards,

Hi Daniel,
With the Premium Edition, there is a High Availability type of deployment, where one of the Premium servers is considered the Publisher and is the primary server used by the Attendant Console clients and the other Premium server is considered the Subscriber and will be inactive until failover.  If the Publisher fails all Attendant Operators are switched to the Subscriber. Once the Publisher is up and running again, the operators are prompted to reconnect to the Publisher.  This is HA type of deployment is not available with the Business, Department or Enterprise versions of Attendant Console.
The section on "Premium Edition Server Resilience" at this link contains information on this type of HA deployment:

  • Inconsistent DISM.EXE error when applying unattend.xml during LTI deployment - Possible bug!

I've been using MDT 2012 and 2012 update 1 with ADK for Windows 8 successfully for years.  This week I decided to uninstall those tools, and install ADK for Windows 8.1 and MDT 2013.  I'm running Windows 7 x64.  Instead of upgrading the current
deployment share, I created a new share to start fresh.
So, I created a new share, added Windows 7 OS, and created a client deployment task sequence. I modified the unattended.xml to enable telnet client and disable media center.  No drivers, no applications, and no packages for this test.  Stock, unmodified
    task sequence.
    Problem:
It works as expected sometimes.  But, about 50% of the time, I get this error:

    Please help!

To be honest, I've never tried to modify the installer packages via unattend.xml.  And come to think of it, it appears that the /applyunattend switch may not understand how to install packages (might not know where the sxs folder is located ). What
is confusing to me is how it *does* work 50% of the time.
did you import the *full* sources or just the *.wim file?
Here is a post in the configmgr group which suggests to perform the package management *online*
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/42eb50b6-7059-431c-ae84-2e5753507a90/unattendxml-and-microsoftwindowsfoundationpackage
    Keith Garner - keithga.wordpress.com
    Thanks for the reply Keith.
I imported the full source, and I'm also not sure why it is not consistent with failure or success either.
To narrow down the problem, I created a reproducible set of steps (for a possible future call to Microsoft support). Those steps are described in this
thread.  When following the steps in the thread, the problem appeared every time.  I only tried it 6, or so, times though.
The enabling/disabling of features via the unattend.xml is a supported and documented feature.  In fact, following the hyperlink in the solution of the thread you mentioned documents the process.

  • ADF app, single deployment - possible to access multiple databases?

    Hi,
I am writing an ADF app that I'd like to connect to multiple different databases. In other words the app will be deployed once on a Weblogic server and will use a parameter to connect to the appropriate database for each user session. Ideally there will be no hard coded connection details embedded within the app before it is deployed, the different potential connections should be able to be administered on the app server.
I have been looking at Dynamic JDBC Credentials and understand it is used to connect to different database users - can it also be used to connect to different databases?
Alternately, is there a way to switch between different JDBC Datasources at runtime?
    ADF/Jdeveloper 11.1.1.3, WLS 10.3.3.
    Cheers,
    Kevin.

Here is my opinion, because I work with both schemas. The
main advantage to use one datasource for all DBs in a SQL Server is
    the simplicity of administration.
But the main disadvantage is security, because you are using
a single user to access all DB in a server, you don't have
isolation, and a user that knows your schema can access data of
other DBs that he sould not be authorized.
Another issue is is a user must access 2 differents DB with
different permissions (a DB only read and the other read/write),
you'll have to create another datasource, user, etc for it.
But the decision depends in the enviroment. If you are a
hosting company, I would use 1 datasource for user or DB. If the
servers and DBs are of the same company, I could use one datasource
    for each SQL server.

  • Problem adding Remote multisite Entry Point

Hi, we have DirectAccess 2012 setup for multisite with a default site with 2 DA servers with load balancing in Sweden, one DA server in Phoenix (US) and one in Romania. For the US one i had to change the entrypointDC after i had added it since otherwise
i could not use the RemoteAccess management console.. everything just hung when it could not load the configuration.. i guessing it timed out.. getting the config from the US AD server and that broke everything (hmmm...)
I am now trying to add another entry point in the US (not the same site) but cant get past "adding an entry point... Please wait while the configuration is applied.." i have waited a couple of days.. it dos not get past that.
I wanted to try the powershell command for adding a entry point to but i cant find any info on how to specify the different GPO:s correctly.. i have Windows 7 computer to so i need a server GPO , a client GPO  and a windows 7 group.. and i have not
been able to figure out how to do that..
Or if its possible to change a entrypointDC while adding the entrypoint.. so it wont time out.
Anyone have any smart tips ?
    BR

  • How do I config "Roaming" Phones on Multisite UC500

I have two UC520's in two geographically different locations with 7970G handsets configured.
    Site 1: 192.168.10.xx
    Site 2: 192.168.20.xx
Intersite dialing works just fine and Multisite is configured via CCA with status of UP.
I have one user who will be moving between sites for long periods of time (6 months at site 1 and the other 6 months at site 2).
I want to the ability to phyiscally move his phone from site 1 and plug it into site 2 and have it retain all site 1 settings (understanding the limitations of having that phone statically register to site 1, call park, etc).
UC520's are currently configured for MultiSite full mesh however when I have tested plugging in a 7970 phone from site 1 into site 2's port(s) it does not register.
Under the dated Multisite deployment guide (https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9568) it states:
"Can I move my IP phone between multiple sites?
Yes. In this case the "roaming" IP phone will be statically configured to register to its home site even if it is physically moved to a remote site. The roaming IP phone will receive all its services, including PSTN & voicemail from its home site, essentially making it a Teleworker phone."
Does anyone have this configured and workding? Am I missing a configuration step outside of having Multisite configured between the two sites and simply unplugging a configured extension from Site 1 into Site 2?
Other than configuring the phones via CCA to their Home UC I cannot see how to "statically" configre them to register with the home site.
    Appreciate any guideance.

    Jordan,
Firstly, thanks for your continued replies, I really do appreciate them.
For what in theory seemed to be a simple configuration, this one has me pulling my hair a bit and of course it is for a single user!!!
I went with your initial recommendation of changing the Voice VLAN so that each site now has a unique Voice VLAN address range.  I then deleted all multisite configs and reconfigured them after the address change had been made.
Touble is I am not able to ping back an forth on the new Voice VLAN range and not quite sure where in the ACLs I need to modify or add the new Voice VLAN info (again all configuration has been done through CCA so it has made all updates)
    I have now:
    Site 1:
    Data: 192.168.10.xx
    Voice: 10.1.1.xx
    Site 2:
    Data: 192.168.20.xx
    Voice: 10.1.2.xx
I am able to do intersite dialing between the two using (Intersite Digit)-(Site ID)- (Extension) and calling back and forth works fine.
When I move a phone that was configured to Site1 and plug it into a switch port in Site 2 it does not register
I update the TFTP to use address of 10.1.1.1 (Site 1's TFTP Server) it still does not sucessfully register.
    I am able to ping:
    Data - Site 1 - to - Site 2
              Site 2 - to - Site 1
    (all good here)
Voice - Site 2 - to - Site 1 but not the other way around.
Obviously I need to include 10.1.2.xx in the range of IP's that can be seen throught he VPN however I do not know where to make those modifications. Do you have any suggestions on that or a good place where I can find that documented?
Also in this configuration should the "Teleworker Phone" option be checked for the extension that will be statically configured to it's home site?
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

  • Deployment of Flex app to web and app server

    Hi
I'm working on putting a Flex front-end on an existing J2EE
app which gets deployed as an ear file. The architecture consists
of web server, app server and database server. Is the following
approach to deployment possible / recommended?
My Flex app will be deployed to the web server. The J2EE ear
file will be deployed to the app server (Weblogic). BlazeDS will be
bundled within the ear file as a war file. Remote Objects will be
configured in my BlazeDS configuration files to enable me to access
the code in my J2EE app. In the compiler options of my Flex app,
I'll be setting the server root folder and server root URL to point
to the BlazeDS war file on my app server.
At present I'm at the stage where I can run my Flex app
directly from Flex builder on my development PC and it's able to
connect tto the J2EE app, which is running on the app server
(Weblogic) also on my development PC. I can't find documentation
explaining how to extend this to work on a multi-tier architecture.
    Thanks

  • Directaccess Multisite problem

Hi,  i am having a problem with our multisite deployment:
i have a main office with two directaccess 2012 servers in loadbalance configuration, i also have serveral smaller offices and have added directaccess 2012 servers to two of them, i could install multisite without problem, and the directaccess servers are
working for clients, but one of them is connected via a VPN between two firewalls, and i am having allot of difficulty managing that one. there are no problem pinging or accessing the server both the directaccess server and a active directory server.
But directaccess can not seem to reach it, ex:
Get-DAEntryPoint : Domain controller usdc05.domain.se cannot be reached for USSITE01.
    At line:1 char:1
    + Get-DAEntryPoint -Name "USSITE01"
    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        + CategoryInfo          : NotSpecified: (domain.se\{4A3891...F-B5AA19B36098}:root/Microsoft/...PS_DAEntryPoint) [Get
       -DAEntryPoint], CimException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : REMOTEACCESS 127,Get-DAEntryPoint
And since the directaccess is having problems reaching the servers trough the VPN connection i can not manage the Directaccess configuration since everything stops working when one part is unreachable...a really annoying feature of directaccess 2012.
Have anybody tried having directaccess multisite where the sites are seperated by vpn and got it to work ?
    Best Regards

  • Multisite DirectAccess manual DTE address configuration

I set up DA on a server in one site and everything's working great. The IPHTTPS interface uses the prefix that I specified for DA clients as the basis for the DTE endpoint IPv6 addresses. This makes sense to me. The prefix I sepcified is a /64 that exists
within the /32 that each site gets. For example, the site has fd45:1234::/32 and I'm specifying fd45:1234:0:70::/64 as the DA client prefix. DA automatically sets the DTE endpoint IPs to fd45:1234:0:2222::1 and fd45:1234:0:2222::2
However, when adding a new entry point in a site with fd45:1256::/32 and specifying fd45:1256:0:70::/64 for DA clients prefix, DA will use the first site's subnet as the basis for the DTE addresses. So the DTE's are addressed as fd45:1234:0:2222::3 and fd45:1234:0:2222::4.
    Questions therefore are:
    - Do I need a completely separate addressing space for DirectAccess multisite? i.e. leave fd45::/16 for my intranet IP addressing and then use something like fd67::/16 for DA IP addresses?
    - Can I manually change the DTE addresses so that they exist the in the right subnet for each site?
    Cheers
    Graham

    Hi Graham,
Have you deployed IPv6 in the internal network?
If IPv6 is not deployed in the corporate network, an IP-HTTPS prefix for each entry point will be automatically selected when adding the entry point.
If IPv6 is deployed in the internal corporate network, you must plan an IPv6 prefix to assign to DirectAccess client computers in any additional entry points in your deployment.
Ensure that the IPv6 prefixes to assign to DirectAccess client computers in each entry point are distinct and that there is no overlap in the IPv6 prefixes.
For detailed information about planning prefixes and routing for DirectAccess, please refer to the link below,

  • Online Deployment in Cluster

    Hello,
we have currently set up a Netweaver application server cluster on SLES10. The cluster is setup like this:
    Two physical servers.
    1 WebDispatcher
    1 SCS
    1 JavaCentral Instance with SDM
    3 Dialog Instances.
We wanted to know if the SDM provides an online deployment possibility, in which the WebDispatcher recognizes which dialog instance is not available due to current deployment.
Does there have to be something configured in the SDM or WebDispatcher?
We want to ensure if we deploy something during runtime that the server handles this appropriately without timeouts or errors.
    Regards,
    Kai

    Hi Kai,
No the webdispatcher cannot be used by SDM to deploy software to other instances. The webdispatcher is used specifically to load balance HTTP, HTTPS and SMTP requests over different instances to one logical backend system.
This is not specific to SDM but the webdispatcher will poll the backend message server for specific information about the availability of all backend instances via the profile paraemeter wdisp/auto_refresh (default 120 seconds).
The information relayed from the message server includes the state of the instances. If the message server reports to the webdisp that a server is down it will be removed from the webdispatcher server pool.
Note: Dont set the wdisp/auto_refresh parameter too low as the webdispatcher uses this for receiving load balancing information as well as the state of the instances.
    Hope this helps

  • RV120W Admin Question - Large-Scale Scale Deployment

    Hello:
I've been demoing the RV120W for consideration of deploying these for a 'large-scale SOHO deployment', possibly hundreds of sites. While I'm not a big fan of the fact that there is no CLI, only a web interface, the RV120W does appear to do all the functionality that I need it to do on a basic level. However, since there is no CLI, is there a way to mange these for a large-scale deployment? For example, is there a way to backup configurations over the network, or a way to perform configuration changes to all the routers at once, on an automated level, such as CiscoWorks, or some other tool? I have not found or read about anything that would be suitable for this router. . .

There are not any tools for a mass deployment. About as far as it goes is make a 'master config' load to each router then tweak the unique attributes. I think in all matters, it will be a cumbersome process.

  • Adding more DirectAccess servers

    Hi All,
We have currently installed one DirectAccess server in our toplevel domain "ourdomain.local". This Solution is working for all our child domains as well.
However this server is located in europe and we would like to expand with another server in the US. So i would like to know if it is possible to deploy a new DirectAccess installation in the "us.ourdomain.local" without affecting our current DirectAccess
    setup in "ourdomain.local" ???
Or would it be best to deploy the server in the US as another server to the DirectAccess setup in "ourdomain.local" - and how to do that ??
    TIA,
    Jan-

    Hi Jan,
We can deploy another DirectAccess server in US.
Deploying multiple entry points in a single location allows for server redundancy, or for the alignment of Remote Access servers with existing network architecture.
Deployment by geographical location ensures efficient use of resources, as remote client computers can connect to internal network resources using an entry point closest to them.
To build a multisite deployment from a single server a number of additional planning steps are required, including compliance with multisite prerequisites, and planning for Active Directory security groups, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, and client settings.
Here is an article about how to deploy a multi-site DirectAccess,

  • DirectAccess Server 2012 Configuration cannot be retrieved from domain controller

    Hi everyone,
We are using DirectAccess over Server 2012. There is just one server, no load balancing.
Everything works fine, all clients can connect successfully and operations status page shows all in green. Nevertheless on the dashboard page in the configuration status section it say “Configuration for server [servername] cannot be retrieved
    from the domain controller.”
I found a few hints what could cause this problem:
In my case, the RAConfigTask, a scheduled task, was not enabled on the affected WS2012 server (DA entry point in a multisite deployment). After just enabling it, the errors has gone."
    http://blog.gocloud-security.ch/2013/01/11/ws2012-directaccess-and-the-configuration-for-server-server-name-retrieved-from-the-domain-controller-cannot-be-applied-error/
Group Policy was filtering out my DA server from the GPO object for some reason. To fix, I opened up Group Policy Management on the domain controller and made sure that my DA server was a part of the group."http://www.joedissmeyer.com/2012/12/more-issues-and-solutions-for.html
Server has no connectivity to the domain in order to update the policies. Run “gpupdate /force” on the server to force policy update. GPO replication might be required in order to retrieve the updated configuration.
This could be because there is no writable domain controller in the Active Directory site of the Remote Access server. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverNIS/thread/56fedb17-1274-4e1a-b2d0-fea809f0bc45
I checked everything. Task is enabled and completed successfully, GPO is not filtered out, run gpupdate without any errors, could connect to domain controller, no errors on domain controller, domain controller is writable.
So, I have no idea what could cause this error. Any ideas or hints?
    Thanks
    Regards

i have the exact same problem i figured out that there was a problem with the logon as a service
secpol.msc --> Local Policies --> User Rights Assignement, Logon as a service i have NT Service\All Services

  • JBuilder 3 Enterprise + WLS 4.5.1

This is what I've got, running on NT. I'm quite new to developing EJB and
the process with this combination seems unbearably complicated and slow..
I'd like to deploy straight from the IDE if possible, but it seems
impossible, so forget it.. Or is it possible with JBuilder 4? Is the IBM
    VisualAge 3.5 Enterprise any good?
And is there any way, with Jbuilder 3 + WLS 451, to make the development
    process easier than this:
    - write the bean interface, the Bean class and the home interface in
JBuilder (it only seems to automatically generate .class files for the
    interfaces)
    - write a deployment descriptor, a text file
    - run DDCreator and EJBC tools to make the serialized deployment descriptor
and the rest of the classes needed
    - make a manifest
    - put all the stuff to a jar, one bean per jar to make the hot deployment
    possible
I have made scripts for some of these steps, but any time I want to create a
    NEW bean, it's a nightmare.

    Hi Juha,
I created an open tool for Jbuilder 3.5 that allows you to right mouse click on
a .txt deployment descriptor and it creates the serialized descriptor, runs
ejbc, and then jars up the resulting bean. It is FAR from perfect, but I can
send you the source code. Currently, it requires the weblogic classes to be
added to the IDE's classpath and has
some hard coded references to directories. It should be easy enough to change.

  • Fault tolerant, highly available BOSE XI R2 questions

    Post Author: waynemr
    CA Forum: Deployment
I am designing a set of BOSE XI R2 deployment proposals for a customer, and I had a couple of questions about clustering. I understand that I can use traditional Windows clustering to setup an active/passive cluster for the input/output file repositories - so that if one server goes down, the other can seamlessly pick up where the other left off. On this Windows-based active/passive cluster, can I install other BOSE services and will they be redundant, or will they also be active/passive. For example: server A is active and has the input/output file repository services and the Page Server. Server B is passive and also has the input/output file repository services and the Page Server. Can the page Server on B be actively used as a redundant Page Server for the entire BOSE deployment? (probably not, but I am trying to check just to make sure) If I wanted to make the most fault-tolerant deployment possible, I think I would need to:Setup two hardware load-balanced web front-end serversSetup two servers for a clustered CMSSetup two web application servers (hardware load-balanced, or can BOSE do that load-balancing?)Setup two Windows-clustered servers for the input/output file repositoriesSetup two servers to provide pairs of all of the remaining BOSE services (job servers, page servers, webi, etc.)Setup the CMS, auditing, and report databases on a cluster of some form (MS SQL or Oracle)So 10 servers - 2 Windows 2003 enterprise and 8 Windows 2003 standard boxes, not including the database environment. Thanks!

    Wayne,
I hate to beat the old drum, and no I don't work for BusinessObjects education services, but all of your questions and notions of a concept of operations in regards to redundancy/load balancing are easily answered by digesting the special BO course "SA310R2" (BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R1/R2 Administering Servers - Windows).  This course fully covers the topics of master/slave operations, BO's own load balancing operations within its application, and pitfalls to avoid.  Without attending this course, I for one would not have properly understood the BusinessObjects approach and would've been headed on a collision course with disaster in setting up a multi-server environment.
    Best wishes-- John.
