Cubes 0SMD* (SolMan Diagnostics)

Hi!
I want to use data from SolMan Diagnostics to run BI Reports. There are some Content Cubes, e.g. 0SMD_PE2H, but I don't know how these cubes are filled...
Cubes are Real time and have requests starting with APO*, but neither BI-IP nor BPS are used to fill them.
Has anybody an idea, how (report, special job, etc.) data are loaded in these cubes?
regards,
Gunter

That's what I'd like to do. That's also why I posted this message, since I am not sure whether the JAVA update will spoil my Solman Diagnostics. Thus far, no issues. Just got a message when login to smd/admin "Upgrade status for the current version is outdated. Please upgrade now.".
I did patch them one by one, since maintenance optimizer isn't installed yet. I need to get approval from SAP to download. ABAP part has been top-up to SP15. So, only JAVA is left to SP14.
Any advice?
Regards,
Agoes

  • SolMan Diagnostics integration with Mercury LoadRunner

    Hi,
I've been reading about the new SolMan Diagnostics and specifically about the Going Live Check that includes a load test of the 3 most important customer click scenarios in SAP Portal using Load Runner tools.
    My questions are:
    1.  The 3 most important customer scenarios are defined by SAP or by the customer?
    2.  The LoadRunner Generator installed in the Sol Man act as a client to generate the load on the SAP Portal?  The script is running in Sol Man hitting the SAP Portal?
    3. If I have my own licensed LoadRunner Controller can I
connect to the same Generator installed in the Solution Manager to run my own scenarios and take advantage of the Sol Man Diagnostics integration?
Thanks for your time and responses.
    Erika B.

    Hi Guyz,
I can see that this thread is just growing. Please find below the steps to accomplish this integration:
    Mercury Quality Centre 9.0 :-
    1)       Ensure Mixrosoft .Net Framework 1.1, SP1 is installed
    2)       Ensure Quality Center 9.0, Patch 9 is installed
    3)       Install the SAP Inspector component on each Quality center client
    SAP Solution Manager :-
    1)       Create an SAP Role with auth objects – S-RFC and S_TABU_DIS
Importing BPH in QA Center :-
    1)       In Import Solution Manager Business Blueprint Wizard, Tools>Import Solution Manager Blueprint
If you have questions, look in to support.mercury.com

Lastly the refernce guides over service marketplace and blog over sdn tat i hv gone through i found bit confusing,so many steps are given without usage tat u donno which one toconfigure and which one not to? If somebody can provide Good self prepared document/guide , any good clear and esay to understand link for configuration , it shall be helpful .Also here if broadly steps are mentioned here for configuration along with it ,it shall be appreciated.

  • I need to install the SOLMAN, in my landscape or another server ??

    Hi experts,
My landscape is the typical landscape; Production Server, Test Server and development Server.
I need to install the SAP Solution Manager; This installation would have to do it in some of my existing servers (Production, Test or Development) or it would have to do it in another one?
    Thank's
    Douglas V.

    Hi Douglas,
Before deciding where to install Solman also take into account below checks -
1] Incase you will be using Solman diagnostics+Wily introscope functionality of solman, I would certainly recommend to install solman on a separate host as these tools hog lot of memory resources.
2] For basic use of solman - EWA, install keys generation, ccms...you can think of installing on existing box - but still it should be strong in configuration. As SAP is adding lots of features in EHP packs and sooner or later you will need to use those.
My 2 cents. (rewards points if useful)
    Thanks

  • Diagnostics Setup - remembers old settings

    Hi,
have a strange problem and it's really giving me a headache. We did set up solution manager diagnostics earlier ago and it worked fine. Recently I logged on again to the SolMan Diagnostics page and got the message that Diagnostics was not running because the WEBADMIN connection did not work.
I checked in Visual Admin (JCo RFC Provider) and it was really down. The reason was the user which was entered for the connection did not exist anymore. So I changed it to something else and it was started up fine.
But I also had to re-run a Diagnostics Setup -> Diagnostics System -> Setup Wizard due to upgrade we made.
Magically this again changed the old connection parameters back in Visual Admin's WEBADMIN connection. On the very first page of the diagnostics wizard you can maintain the connection parameters to the ABAP system and I also changed that to the new user but when the setup proceeds it always fails at the ABAP connection step saying the user ID and password is not correct (and stating the old user which really surprises me).
So it seems whatever data you gave for the very first time the wizard just can't forget it and brings them up even you already changed the connection parameters...and it also overrides the WEBADMIN connection parameters back to the obsolete parameters.
Anybody has an idea how can I overcome this issue? Is it somewhere buffered and I need to empty the buffer?
    Our solman is a 7.0 at SPS17
    Cheers

Hi, thanks for the reply - the problem is not in the ABAP stack. It's on the java side when you try to open the http://hostname:port/smd link and try to do a diagnostics setup wizards.
On this first page there are some parameters you need to provide like:
    Support User
Please enter the UserId of the SMD Support User. If not yet existing, the User will be created with password set in advanced setup (default : 'init1234')
    ABAP Connection
Please enter the settings of the Solution Manager Backend ISM
    ABAP Client
    ABAP Admin User Id
    ABAP Admin Password
    ITS port
Is BW installed in a separate...  Client ?  System ?
    J2EE Administrator
Please enter admin User Id and password of the SAP J2EE administrator of Solution Manager
    J2EE Admin User Id
    J2EE Admin Password
    Etc etc...
my problem is that at the very first time I populated the ABAP connection parameters using a user ID called e.g. SMD_RFC_XYZ.
Now when I change this to e.g. SMD_COMMUINICATION user and run the setup wizard with the changed parameters in the error log I still see SMD_RFC_XYZ user id for some reason I don't know where the system gets it from.

    Hi all,
I want to uninstall the current JAVA j2sdk1.4.2_13 from the diagnostics server and update to JDK 1.6.
I hope the error which i am facing is because of the java version.
Can i directly uninstall from start>settings>control panel--> Add and remove programs --> java 1.4.2.13
then update the jdk 1.6. Will this action affect SAP Solman system in any way.

  • SMD not communicating with SOLMAN

    Hi,
The SMD instance on our portal servers is supposed to talk to SOLMAN.  This was working fine until I had to change the J2ee_admin password on SOLMAN.  After that, the SMD instances will not start because they can not communicate due to the password being changed.  I have no way of knowing the old password.  How can I update the password for these SMD instances?  I found note 903080 which mentions a URL (.../smd/admin URL) but I can not access this URL.  I've tried http://servername:50000/smd/admin but the page is not found.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you very much.
    Shelby

    Hi,
Basically, the SMD agent registers itself with solman using the SMD_ADMIN user. I think that you may have given J2EE_ADMIN user earlier and thats why when the password for J2EE_ADMIN was changed, the issue happened.
You can try and register the agent again using one of the following ways:
    1. On solman host, go to Solman Diagnostics workcenter and under Agent Administration, in the Agent Credentials panel, fill the previous login of the Diagnostics Agents and enter the new one (or enter the same login with a new password). Click on the Update all agents button.
    2. If the previous step is not possible, reregister the SMD agent on the portal server using the following command:
    smdsetup managingconf hostname:"sapms://<J2ee_Message_server_hostname>" port:"<http_port_message_server>" user:"<SMD_ADMIN or J2EE_ADMIN>" pwd:"xxxxxx"
This will reregister the SMD agent with the new user credentials.
Please try and let me know if this works.

    Shitij

  • SolMan Diagnotics - Flight Recorder

For the setup of the Root Cause Analysis in SolMan Diagnostics, we need to "enable Flight Recorder" by
adding "jstartup/recorder = ..." to the instance profile of the managed system.
No issue with doing this BUT does anyone have an insight into what the "Flight Recorder" is?   And where we can see any of its results in the SMD?
We've searched all over the place and can't find any background info.
    TIA ... Bart

The Flight Recorder is used in the analysis of system shutdowns.
It contains all the startup framework log files from the instance's work folder as well as the work folder of the message server and enqueue server. It also collects the default traces from all nodes so can be useful in analysis of issues relating to EP, BI or other J2EE web based apps

  • Short dumps in ST22

    Hi,
I get a set of 30 dumps daily on my Solman system.
The user is SMD_RFC & the dump is as follows:
    Runtime Errors         CREATE_DATA_UNKNOWN_TYPE
    Exception              CX_SY_CREATE_DATA_ERROR
    Date and Time          28.01.2011 00:30:52
    Short text
CREATE DATA: The specified type "/BI0/V0MSS_C04D2" is no valid data ty
    What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "CL_SMD_AGGREGATE_MDX==========CP" had to be
          terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_CREATE_DATA_ERROR', was not
         caught in
procedure "INITIALIZE" "(METHOD)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
The dynamically specified type "/BI0/V0MSS_C04D2" at CREATE DATA is no valid
         data type.
The type is either unknown or an object type.
I found Note 1492999..however this is for DB6, whereas I'm on SQL.
Some of the dumps have the specified type with MSS in the short text..while some dumps have the specified type as DB6.
    I couldn't find a note for MSS:(
    We're on SP25.
    pls. help.
    Thanks,
    Saba.

    > oh..i coudldn't find it in the script section of DBACOCKPIT...how do i run this?
in the script section? That is a transaction called by SOLMAN_SETUP to set up the BI content/connection
    > I know these dumps are basically harmless..but still, cing 30 of them daily sure doen'st bring a smile to your face every morning:(
Harmless in the sense that the data can't be put into those cubes, they are mainly used by SolMan diagnostics.

    Hello Experts,
While installing SMD, the LMSERVICE and SAPISEM80.SAR, SAPISMM80.SAR have already been installed through SDM.
1- When I type http://hostname:8004/SMD and login with my username j2ee_admin and password, I get a blanck screen with following error message
    "message.rfc_get_error",
    "message.guid_text".
Can anyone let me know, how can I resolve this error message of "message.rfc_get_error"?
Also should I use the port no for SMD as 8004 or 50400?

    Dear Haleem,
Please follow the advice from the below link.
