Cubes Under Infoarea In BI Analyzer

Hi all
I am unable to see some infocubes which are activated in RSA1 in Bex analyzer
can somebody advice

if you have created a query on the infocube, then you will be able to see that particular infocube when you open the query. If you have not created any queries on a particular infocube, then when you open the query, you will not be able to see that infocube. rather you can see that particular infocube when you click on the create query button.

How ya doin guys ?
When u drag and drop the Objects from the BC into the Collected objects the InfoArea / Application Component / IOC will also be Collected. Then in the GROUPING select ONLY NECESSARY OBJECTS.
Also, if u expand the collected InfoCube the InfoArea and InfoObjects will be displayed, check the InfoArea checkbox under INSTALL.
This will install the InfoArea and the InfoCube organized under that InfoArea.

How to bring InfoAreas into BEx Analyzer

Hi Experts,
Q1: I have a total of 24 InfoAreas in InfoProvider(Admn Workbench), but I do see only 7 of them in Open Query dialog box of BEx Analyzer. How do I bring in a particular InfoArea(and all related objects) into Open Query Dialog box.
Q2: I want to see all the queries in Transport Connection's Query Elements(for selection to transport). I have 7 queries in BEx, but I could see only 2 in Transport Connection.
Please help.

Hi,
You can only see those for which you have queries created...to see all, click on the new query icon (blank page).
You can click on Select Objects and look for the other queries. The list is just like some 'history' viewing.

Accessing a Cube under different schema

Guys,
Is it possible for a user to access OLAP cube residing in a different schema under same oracle database and SID ? If yes, how it can be done (permissions etc.)

Hi,
Yes this is possible. The other user needs to have the olap_user role, and if you are going to use discoverer it also needs the d4opub role.
In addition to that you also need to grant rights on the AW$ table to the user you want to give access to.
The AW$ table is where actually the AW is stored and should be in the schema where you have created the AW. The name of it s AW$<AW_NAME> so in order for you to grant select on it to other users, all you need to do is the following:
grant select on aw$<aw_name> to <user>

Help: Records not showing when cube is placed under the Multiporivider

Hi Experts,
I have a Cube called Bcube with char Plant,calm year/month, material and Key Figure, Pqty
When I generate a report on this Cube, everything looks fine and I see plants, year, etc in the report
There are 2 other cubes:
MCube also has char Plant,calyear/month, material and Key Figure: Pqty, Sqty, TQty, AQty
DCube also has same as BCube: with char Plant,calyear/month, material and Key Figure Pqty
When I place all three cubes under the multiprovider, the values from the BCube does not show up in reports
e.g. in a simple report such as
Row : Plant
Columns: Pqty, Sqty, TQty, AQty
In the Multiprovider, under the Indentification of Characteristics, I checked the boxes for all three cubes whenever the same charactertic in all cubes showed up for identification: e.g..
InfoProvider InfoObject
Bcube----
Plant
MCube-------Plant
DCube -
Plant
and same for. e.g. 0Calyear
and same for Key Figures, e.g. I checked all 3 boxes for PQty which exists in each of the cubes
1. Why is my data for BCube not showing when reporting against the multiprovider?
2. what does it mean by checking the 3 boxes for Plant? and checking the 3 boxes for 0Calyear.

regarding your questions:
1. When I run listcube against the multiprovider, I only went to the output list to select the fields I needed in the output; then entered the particular cube e.g. BCube in the infoprovider field. That was it (NO other selection) and I got the described results I explained earlier. If you have a specific test for me to try, please let me know.
2. Please find the settings in both characteristics and key figures for all cubes in the MULTIPROVIDER maintenance screen:
Characteristic Assighment:
0calyear -- 3 boxes checked for BCube, DCube & MCube
Plant -- 3 boxes checked for BCube, DCube & MCube
0Material-- 3 boxes checked for BCube, DCube & MCube
Key Figure selection
PQty-- 3 boxes checked for BCube, DCube & MCube
Sqty --checked for DCube, this key fig is ONLY in DCube
TQty--checked for DCube, this key fig is ONLY in DCube
AQty--checked for DCube, this key fig is ONLY in DCube

PP - Cube for Actual Capacity Utilization (in hours per confirmation)

I need to extract the exact operation confirmation times for PP orders from ECC6. For example, if a single order started at 11:00am and then was confirmed twice before being finished in the evening, the client wants to see the actual times used for each operaiton. This way they want to subtract from 24 hours and see the idle time of the production operation.
For this purpose I have checked all the cubes under 'Production/process orders' infoarea. The cube '0PP_C03 Plan/Actual Comparison Operation/Work Center View' seems to have the operation time but in days. This is first of all causing a rounding off problem and secondly it does not show the time gaps between confirmations on the same operation.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Method 1 :
1- Create a one Multi provider .
2- Copy the standard cube 0PP_C03 and make your own Cube with necessary fields ( enhance it as per your requirement ).
This New Cube should be Virtual Cube .
3- Create a Report on Mutiprovider ( which you created in step1 )
4-select the relevant char and key figure as per requirement .
5- you can use the selection and formula in report for time difference ..
In this method restrict the query on virtual cube only .
Method 2 :
From R/3 you have record like this :
Operation 1( O1) ---> 11:00 :00
Operation 1( O1) --> 14:00:00
Operation 2( O2) --> 10:30:00
Operation 2( O2) --> 13:30:00
1- Create a one Key figure with Data Type TIMS .
2- Include this key figure in the Cube which you have created in above steps ( Method1 )
3-Write a routine to fillt he data for Keyfigure ..if O1 record find calculate time difference .
4-Now you have time difference in BW for operation
5-Add new keyfigure in MP and use in Report .

InfoCube not in the system standard InfoArea

I face the problem as follow:
I activited the system standard InfoCube,ODS, InfoObject, but I find them no in the sysytem standard InfoArea. Now they stand in the unassigned InfoArea. How can I change the unususlly thing? Hope anyone can give me some advice.

Hi,
If you want to list the cube under your company created or any other infoarea, select the cube/ ODS and drang it into the necessary info area.
If it prompts for Tranport request, create one.

Want to Retrieve Data from cube

Hi All,
I want to use the data from the cube and perform certain calculations on it ,this calculation would be stored in buffer. Again if i'll perform certain calculations ,it would done on the buffered data not the actual data of the cube.
For example if I retrieve 100Rs from the keyfigure amount in the cube and I want to increase this by 50% .So as a result it would be now 150. But further if I'll change the percentage to 20% then I want it to be 120.But instead of this it would calculate on the last calculated amount.So it would Result into 130,as it is reading from Buffer.
Is there any way to read data from cube means in example I want to read 100 not from buffer.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Im elaborating the problem Im facing as under:
In the BeX Analyzer, I have created 2 analysis grids(DP1 and DP2) in a single sheet.
DP1 is built on query - Q001 and DP2 is on query Q002(which is an exact COPY of Q001).
Now the requirment is, the Planning Function that I execute needs to be executed on DP2 ( Old data ) each time I execute the Planning Function and the result of this "Simulation" has to be displayed in DP1.
Once the user is happy with the simulation, and once he clicks SAVE, the data needs to be updated in both DP1 and DP2.
The problem is that the Planning function that Im executing is Updating the Data in both the Data Providers.

Data in cube is not coming in Multiprovider

Hi All,
When i tried executing the multiprovider for customer analysis, am not getting the account manager corresponding to payer.But where as when i checked the cube (ZSD_C03) under it i could see the account manager field filled .
There are two cubes under the customer analysis multiprovider (ZMARSD01)
1)ZFIAR_C03
2) ZSD_C03
Payer information is there only in zsd_c03, and in mutliprovider contents when checked we could the same request number which is present in zsd_C03 but with accountmanger as #.
identification of the providers corresponding to account manager in multiprovider is checked and it was checked correctly.
More over in zsd_c03, the accountmanger is a navigational attribute ((ZCS_SOLD__ZACT_MGR) and an attribute of zcs_sold infoobject.
Even the master data (zcs_Sold) was checked and for the combination of the division & distribution channel there is only single entry with account manager.
So i request you people to suggest me how to proceed in this case.

Where you checking the data in MP or Report.
And also as suggested please check the Navigational Attr. in MP and do identification.
See in MP if both cubes don't have common fileds it will display as # if you do a drill down on the previous cube chars.
Let us know more on how you validating data between MP and Cube.

Error while trying to deploy BIDS Cube

Hi
I have created a Cube, and when I'm trying to deploy it I'm getting errors. First error it's on Calculations Tab on a Cube under Metadata: "Error loading metadata connection is not open"
There's also another error: "Unable to query 'AdventureWorksDW_Cube' cube: A connection cannot be made to redirector. Ensure SQL-Browser is running.
Then another error is when I'm trying to deploy: same as above, A connection cannot be made to redirector. Ensure SQL-Browser is running
It is connection errors and I don't know what to do because my SQL-Browser is running. please help.

I would suggest you try to restart SQL Server Browser serice to see if this help.
In addition, please also help to collect the following information to us for further investigaion:
Is it a SSAS named instance or default instance? Have you try to specify "IP address\instance name" for the "Server" property?
What's is the impersonation accounts information of the SSAS project?

Is there a way of partitioning the data in the cubes

Hello BPC Experts,
we are currently running an Appset with 4 Applciations. Anyway two of these are getting really big.
In BPC for MS there is a way to partitioning the data as I saw in the How tos.
In NW Versions the BPC queries the Multiprovider. Is there a way to split the underlying Basis Cube to several (split by time or Legal Entity).
I think this would help to increase the speed a lot as data could be read in parallel.
Help is very much appreciated.

Hi Daniel,
The short answer to your question is that, no, there is not a way to manually partition the infocubes at the BW level. The longer answer comes in several parts:
1. BW automatically partitions the underlying database tables for BPC cubes based on request ID, depending on the BW setting for the cube and the underlying database.
2. BW InfoCubes are very different from MS SQL server cubes (ROLAP approach in BW vs. MOLAP approach usually used in Analysis Services cubes). This results in BW cubes being a lot smaller, reads and writes being highly parallel, and no need for a large rollup operation if the underlying data changes. In other words, you probably wouldn't gain much from semantic partitioning of the BW cubes underlying BPC, except possibly in query performance, and only then if you have very high data volumes (>100 million records).
3. BWA is an option for very large cubes. It is expensive, but if you are talking 100s of millions of records you should probably consider it. It uses a completely different data model than ROLAP or MOLAP and it is highly partition-able, though this is transparent to the BW administrator.
4. In some circumstances it is useful to partition BW cubes. In the BW world, this is usually called "semantic partitioning". For example, you might want to partition cubes by company, time, or category. In BW this is currently supported through manually creating several basic cubes under a multiprovider. In BPC, this approach is not supported. It is highly recommended to not change the BPC-generated Infocubes or Queries in any way.
5. If you have determined that you really need to semantically partition to manage data volumes in BPC, the current best way is probably to have multiple BPC applications with identical dimensions. In other words, partition in the application layer instead of in the data layer.

What if the multiprovider is involved in cube enhancements?

I have added one characteristic in the cube definition and wrote a routine for that in update rules.
In this update routine i have to refer one more field which was not there in BW. So i had enhanced the data source with the field required for referal in update routine. so effectively i did added two characteristics in the cube definition.
actually reporting is not done on this cube but on a multi provider instead which has this cube and nothing else as it constituents.
now what exactly i need to do in multi provider definition as it is now in deactive stage?
i mean in the identification tab of multiprovider definition,i did transferred to the structure table from template table side and really donno with the check boxes available ( after clicking identification tab, identification of characteristics involved screen ) which are somany and my new fields are appearing everywhere.
pls do suggest me!

What do u mean by fileds appearing everywhere.. After you have moved ur 2 new IOsu shld see them in identification.. If ther eis more number of cubes under ur multiplrovider only then u will more on ur identification.

Inventory data load from Inventory Cube to another Copy Cube

Hello Experts,
I am trying to load Inventory data from the Inventory cube(say YCINV) to a copy cube say YCOPY_CINV(copy of Inventory cube), but the results appear inconsistant when I compare the reports on these 2 cubes. I am trying to populate a fiield in copy cube so that I can populate the same data back to the original cube with the new field in it, I am doing this reload back and forth for historical data purpose only.
I have seen lot of posts as how to run the setups for Inventory data, but my case does not need to perform set up runs.
Does the note 1426533 solve the issue of loading from one cube to another ? we are on SAP BI 7.01 with SP 06 ,but the note specifies SP 07 ?
I have tried note 375098 to see if it works, but I do not see the options as mentioned from step "Using DTP (BW 7.x)" in BI to perform this note
Please advise on whether to go with implementing note 1426533 or is there any other way to load inventory data from one cube to other.

I do not see any setting like Intial stock in DTP except "initial non-cumulative for non- cumulative". I did try using the option "initial non-cumulative for non- cumulative" ,but the results still do not match with the inventory cube data.I do not see the check box for marker in the copy cube (under roll up tab). Please let me know if we can really implement this solution ,i.e. copying from inventory cube to copy cube and then re-loading it back to inventory cube for historical data. Currenlty, I am comparing the queries on these 2 cubes, if the data matches then I can go ahead and implement it in Production, other wise it would not be wise to do so .

I created partition for the cube , im not seeing the partition in trgt cube
even its not showing source database and target database under the partition
I refreshed the partition
so how can i solve this , plz help on this

we have 4 partitions for 4 diff cubes;; for all the 4 partiotions this is the trgt(account) so i deleted 1 cube
form then on words its not showing any partitions in the trgt cube(Account) but remaining cubes under partition im able to see
for only trgt cube im not able to see
wat may be the problem?? plz help on this..
