Cubeserv demo portal

On page 541 of the new "SAP business intelligence" book from SAP press, readers are invited to log into the demo portal.  Where does one  obtain the username and password for access?
Thanks,
Frederick

The out-of-the-box demos run on a Cloudscape database which is meant we use for
our demos and is not meant for production performance.
SP1 installation instructions are described in detail in the SP1 release notes.

Hi all,
I've installed WLPS the app server, and all is well. But it seems that when
I run the Portal demo, it gets really slow when it does DB stuff (?). If I
goto the user profile section, it'll take awhile for it to get back etc.
when I save, same thing. Any thoughts?
Also, how do I install the service pack for WLPS?

    Hi Justin,
    Please get the answers of your queries
    The error you're getting is coming from the SMTP server you are trying to connect to.
    - What SMTP server is your database configured to use?
    Reply - I am using IIS(5.0)
    - What SMTP server is the database where this code is working configured to use?
    Reply - Same IIS. Database is installed locally on my machine only. I am trying to send mail locally to me only,Not to the outside person.
    - Has the SMTP server been configured to allow connections from both machines?
    Reply - Yes
    One more query, do we really require to set the SMTP_OUT_SERVER parameter for SCOPE=BOTH
    ALTER SYSTEM SET smtp_out_server = '172.16.1.10' SCOPE=BOTH
    I am not able to set like this for BOTH,only for SPFILE i can set ?.

  • Transport package from one to another portal server

    Dear Portal experts,
    I would like to copy a demo portal to another machine.
    Therefore I created an export package.
    When I upload the package (epa) to the new server I get an error and advised to have a look at the log (which log isn't mentioned) and I also don't know where the logs are.
    I know I need to export the XML stuff aswell (this must be done first before you import the epa file).
    Could someone tell me how I do that?
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi.....
    First check with the Basis Team whether there is any transport path between BWD to BWV server as per the lanscape..
    If yes........then Create a new rewuest which will include the cube.............
    Then release it in SE01.....then ask the transport team to do the Transport.........
    or if you are authorise to do that then do the transport in STMS --> Click on Import Overview --> Double click on BWD and transport the request.......

  • MyCompany Demo

    Hi
    I have tried to install the MyCompany demo on Solaris, 9iAS v1.0.2.2.1 into 8.1.7.3 db. I have successfully done it on Windows. This time the front page of the demo Portal was completely blank (apart from the background).
    Has anyone got any tips to help me here?
    Thanks
    Manfred

    As promised, here's the temporary download location for the 3.0.8-compatible version of the MyCompany Demo. This version WILL NOT work for Portal 3.0.6 or 3.0.7, but is built specifically for Portal 3.0.8.
    ftp://oracle-ftp.oracle.com/dev_tools/outgoing/portal/MCD0515.ZIP
    If you are interested in this demo, I'd advise you not to delay in downloading this file, as it is on a temporary ftp location.
    We'll be hosting this file on a more semi-permanent location on OTN in a few days as well. Thanks very much for your interest in this demo of Oracle9iAS Portal!

  • Transport Portal Application

    Hi,
    We have developed a demo portal application in EP6.0(Application includes Roles,Pages,Iviews etc.),and we want to transport that portal application  to our client.
    Please provide the transporting process step by steps.
    If we export that application to our client ,what if in the case of user mapping steps??
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Senthil Kumar S.

    Hi,
    Option 1:
      The portal application consists of min 2 parts when it comes to ivews.
    1. PCD Content (like iviews/pages/etc..) should be transported as Transport Packages (.epa file) which can be created using System Administration -> Transport -> Export.
       Here you will have to create a new Transport Package and add the PCD Content and download the epa file.
       On the Client Portal you can import the epa file at System Administration -> Transport -> Import.
       Note: the import will override any content with the same PCD Path. i.e say i import the epa file twice the first content will be overridden by the second import.
    2. The Par files on which the iView was built, will have to be moved to the onsite box and deployed in the portal.
    Option 2:
    We can create a single SDA file which consists of both the iviews and apar files. you can deploy the SDA file using SDM.
    User Mapping and SLD setup for R/3 access will have to be done at the client machine again.
    Hope that Helps.
    Regards,
    S.Divakar

  • Using Vertica as a datasource in Aldsp

    Hi,
    We are trying to develop a Demo Portal using Weblogic Server, ALDSP as Xquery Engine and Vertica as the database.
    We are able to successfully create a connection pool on the Weblogic server using vertica as the datasource.However while trying to create a PhysicalDS file in ALDSP,no option is populated while selecting Database Type and after a few attempts we get the message that Maximum Capacity of Connection Pool is exceeded.Please help us solve this issue.
    regards,
    Nithya

    I'd like to see your JDBC code for getting, using, and closing the connection you get from the
    DataSource. Offhand, it sounds like a simple coding error where you neglect to close your
    pool connection in some/all cases, which will leak the pool till it's empty.

  • Performance of WLPS

    What sort of performance are people seeing for WLPS?
    I have tested the demo portal on a Wintel P500+256MB,
    and a Sun E420R+1GB, and get response times for loading
    the main page (after JSPs have been compiled) of four and two
    seconds respectively. This seems slow to me.
    Is anyone else seeing better performance?
    Any tips on how to improve these numbers?

    Actually, I am now testing on a 128Mb P500, which means portions of the
    Commerce Server must be paged to file, and am getting sub-second response
    time....once the page is compiled! If the page has to compile, it will take
    up to 10 seconds.
    Do you have content cacheing on or off???

    Peter, this is interesting. Are you going against Cloudscape or Oracle? I
    have been using Cloudscape on the local box and notice that response times
    are reasonable, once the page compiles. However, on the 256Mb (NT 4.0?)
    machine could be getting to the pagefile if you have many other services
    running. I hope to complete some test on a similar configuration NT box
    (256Mb P500) within the next day or so and will get back to you.

  • Clicking on a book/Page refreshes complete page

    Hi
    The scenario is
    I have a portal and in that i have 5 books.
    And when i click a book, whole page gets refreshed.
    I dont want whole page to get refreshed.
    Only the tab change should happen.
    Kindly tell me what to do.
    Thanks
    Edited by seeankur at 02/17/2008 9:57 PM

    take a look at this example
    http://wlp.bea.com/bighorn/ajax/demo.portal?_nfpb=true&_nfxr=false&_pageLabel=ajax_multi_book
    notice the different ways to do a page change in the middle portlet.
    this requires desktop ajax to be turned on (feature in wlp 10.0)
    Bottom line your going to need to create your own menu to fire page change events.

  • Importing Business Package more than once for different systems

    Hi,
    We have a demo portal (EP6 SP12) connecting to various SAP systems. We want to use the same Business Package for two different systems. Is there any way to import a Business Package a second time with a different system alias, without overwriting the first import, so we can point it to a different system?
    Many thanks,
    Jane

    Prakash - I had thought of this, but I would then have to recreate the pages, worksets and roles manually. Also some BPs contain hundreds of iviews so it would be very time consuming to manually edit the system alias on each one.
    Karsten - At the moment, we're interested in the ESS and MSS Business Packages but I would also like to know generally, since I'm sure in the future this will apply to other BPs for us.
    Many thanks,
    Jane

  • How to correctly resize a component after loading using SWFLoader

    In an app, I load SWFs into an AIR app, which manages them.
    The AIR app loads the SWF, then creates a 'master' component, which
    manages the loaded SWF. 'manages' means resize, move or provide
    persisted preference values.
    My own test Flex SWFs work OK, while another SWF does not.
    Here's a screenhot:
    http://www.flexolero.com/demos/Portal/shot.png
    Note, that only some part of the loaded Clock resized
    correctly.
    The actual resize is done like this:
    quote:
    public function resize( newW:int, newH:int ):void {
    var loadedSM:SystemManager = SystemManager( ( _inner as
    SWFLoader ).content );
    if ( ( null != _inner )
    && ( null != loadedSM )
    && ( null != loadedSM.application )
    // BindingUtils.bindProperty( lblFromRemote, "text",
    loadedSM.application, '_outChannel' );
    // loadedSM.application[ 'inChannel' ] = 'New';
    loadedSM.application[ 'width' ] = newW-20;
    loadedSM.application[ 'height' ] = newH-20;
    this.width = newW;
    this.height = newH;
    _inner.invalidateSize();
    drawHandles();
    If the Air app finishes loading the SWF, the master component
    attaches a method to the managed SWF:
    (_inner as UIComponent).addEventListener( Event.RENDER,
    fixSizes );
    Actually, Clock sample does not resize as expected at the
    first time it appears.
    Once the Clock is on stage, and I resize it using the mouse,
    it resized as expected.
    Could someone provide a hint?

    maybe you need to calculate scaleX, scaleY instead?

  • Page regions.... how to edit?

    Okay.. I'm new to this whole portal thing.. done lots of Java, HTML, CSS, you practically name it. We've setup our required 3 gig 'infrastructure' :-| .. got everything working. The demo portal stuff loads fine. Still haven't found the easy way to specify URL for accessing a newly created page group,... not a big deal.. BUT..
    I can't figure out how to edit a default page of a page group and add or even edit regions! The documentation implies that there are 'edit' icons. ... all I see is the 'add / remove portlets' and 'arrange portlets'.. .. I'd like to actually modify the layout of the page, but can't get past this block.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Regarding your first question:
    You can use direct access URLs to access your pages.
    If your page isn't based on a template, you should be able to access the page editing UI (including regions and portlets) by clicking the Edit link in the upper right hand corner of the page. I'm looking for information that explains how portal access control works in Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4).
    The situation I have at the moment is that I've created a page with one user QAManager and set its Access with the following settings:
    * Display to public users is unchecked
    * Enable Item Level security is unchecked
    QAManager user has 'Manage' privilege
    Authenticated Users group has 'View' privilege
    I've clicked the 'clear cache' link at the bottom of the page as well.
    No matter who I log on as (QAManager, Portal, Demo) I can still edit the page even though I thought that only QAManager would have edit access. This seems counter intuitive - is there some other cache I should be clearing, or have my users got some 'superuser' setting on them that overrides the page access control? What am I missing here? Any help appreciated.

    Ok - with a bit of trial an error I've answered my own question. It appears Users in the Demo Portal Administrator's group have the ability to edit the content created by other users even when they haven't been granted access to edit that content (not sure what this has to do with administering portal but now that I know it I can live with it).
